I understand mistakes happen, and I wasn't asking to get it for the incorrect price. I simply asked if it could be repriced and held so I could come back and purchase it at the correct price. I was told no, and the response included laughter and a comment like, "Haha, yeah, probably not," which left me feeling embarrassed. My concern isn't the policy: it's how the interaction was handled!!! A little empathy would have made a disappointing situation much easier to accept. I hope management reviews how situations like this are communicated, because this has otherwise been a great neighborhood thrift store.

He took time to listen to us about what we were looking for and suggested starting with three different mattress brands. We spent a lot of time trying out various beds, and at the end of the day, compromised between us. I wanted something softer, my partner wanted more firm. So we settled in the middle and put in our order. Akin was very responsive and patient. He kept us in the loop about delivery and dates. When the day came, he and his assistant made the delivery, and set everything up. After sleeping on the bed few weeks, it seemed more firm than we wanted, so we gave Akin a call. He was very gracious, as always, and we agreed to test the bed for several more weeks. Ultimately, we did decide to exchange the bed and frame (which we had only seen in a catalog). Akin was great. We went back to the store and chose a bed that we thought would be better for us. Akin was wonderful and made the whole transaction seamless, and even figured out how to make a few adjustments to our order to save money. We are beyond thrilled with the bed and frame now. Fairfield was close. We were in heaven when we walked through the door. Rick was fabulous. I have a very fragile back and my daughter has issues with hers. Rick knew right where to begin to look. I ended up buying the first mattress that he had me try and my daughter bought the second. For her it was a hard choice. We also ended up getting pillows that have been a godsend. The first night we slept on our new mattresses with our new pillows was a night from heaven. My 30 pound dog loves making the bed with me and the cat sleeps all day on my daughter's bed with his toy. After a brief conversation where Tina educated me a bit more about the process, she agreed to meet at my parents estate in a few days, and she showed up with her partner promptly at the agreed upon time. They were very kind and understanding, and took a good look at what was in the house, asked a bunch of questions, answered a bunch more questions, and generally were great to work with. Unfortunately, there was not enough stuff in the house to make it worthwhile to do an Estate Sale, and they seemed quite apologetic about that, but they still gave me lots of great advice on how to proceed with my goals, as well as the few things that knew from experience would be worth trying to sell separately.
