There aren't a lot of coffee shops in Red River, so options are limited, but we stopped here on our last day in town. The shop is located in a repurposed train car, which is super cool! Not a ton of seating, but we grabbed a seat by the window and watched the snow fall while we waited for our drinks. We ordered the churro latte (flavored with cinnamon bun and mocha) and the Berry White (raspberry and white mocha). My husband really likes fruit flavors, so he really enjoyed the berry white, though it was a little too sweet for me. The churro latte was not as sweet, and wasn't too strongly flavored of cinnamon, so it was really good. We would come back next time we're in town. read more

As someone who has worked in F&B & retail, I try to always be very kind & patient. I've never in my life lost my cool with service workers but it happened here. The bad attitude of the workers was something I've never experienced. To start, when I first walked in the guy behind the counter (Jan. 2022) had a terrible attitude before I even ordered. I ended up getting accused of taking a drink that wasn't mine when I had purchased 2 drinks. Was then told to drop my attitude after defending myself lol..... It was humiliating & literally happened 10 minutes after I ordered the drink. Like how do you forget what I ordered in 10 minutes?? Will never be back here. The place itself & the coffee was great. It's too bad the employees ruined it. read more

Cute and only coffee shop that was open during October & COVID ! It's a cute little stop to grab your coffee fuel and they even carry few limited breakfast items like muffins & burritos! Nice decor inside as well as a beautiful patio overlooking mountains to enjoy while sipping your drink ! The service is a bit slow , but the ladies are welcoming and great . The first day I almost missed them thinking they are close. Do check properly !! read more

The coffee is amazing, I was pleasantly surprised at how they recreated my hometown favorite coffee: royal breve. Tasted amazing, were very eager to make it just right. We didn't even waste time making coffee at our rental, just went here every day! Highly recommend. Very friendly staff every time we went in. Cannot recommend any more highly! read more

Cute location that looks like a renovated rail car (this the name "steam?"). There's a wood burning stove in the dining area - very cool. We came in early on a Saturday and ordered a pour over and a mocha. The "pour over" looked to be a batch brew or pre-brewed (maybe?) but it was good - not the top of the line, but definitely better than the other options. My wife's mocha was exactly what she was looking for and very chocolate-forward. It looks like they sell grab and go savory items similar to T-bucks down the street. Reading other reviews, I was a bit concerned about the customer service, and although there was one team member sitting in the dining area when I walked in, she was quick to attend to guests. The gentleman behind the counter was friendly and helpful. No complaints here. Give steam a try! read more

This coffee spot in Main Street is fantastic. The look and decor of this coffee spot is so unique. It feels like a break from the touristy vibe but also offers quality brews! I was with some friends and we were walking around town and noticed STEAM Coffee.... didn't think too much of it but decided to give it a shot. We were all very pleased with the atmosphere as well as the coffee! The coffee is some of the best I've had ( great temperature and robust flavor) and we ended up coming back again before we rolled out of town! The breakfast burritos were solid as well! We were so excited that the vape place that previously occupied this little caboose was gone and a coffee place replaced it. We've had a cabin in Red River for over fifty years and always try to support local business. They have redecorated and it's really cute. They have some yummy looking food too. It's too bad that the people working there were so unbelievably rude that we couldn't even bring ourselves to order coffee. They would barely speak to us and they weren't wearing masks or gloves. It's was actually kind of weird. read more

Yummy! We stopped here on our way out of town. Wish we would have stopped here day 1! The chai iced tea was so good that I got 2! The "WWF waffle" was melt in your mouth delicious! The service was impeccable, as well. We'll definitely be back if we come back to Red River! read more

Can't even rate the coffee because when we walked in 13 minutes before they closed( which I really try not to do) and was going to ask if it would be to much of an inconvenience to make us a coffee. However the man behind the counter rolled his eyes very dramatically and asked very rudely "what can I get you?" I said nothing and we walked out. Very rude. read more

Now, that I got the details in from the place, I ended up ordering an iced pumpkin spice latte with oat milk (and it is one size which is 16 oz). I would say it was decently good, but maybe I could've asked for less ice, because it wasn't sweet to me compared to my family members Mexican mocha and caramel macchiato (which they asked for regular milk but what can I say I love oat milk). So for those who are sweet tooth ask for less ice! Overall I really enjoyed the taste, it tasted different.. almost chai like compared to your standard ice pumpkin spice, but I personally liked it that way. My family did enjoy their drinks and rated it a good 7/10! If I were to come to Red River again, I would definitely return to the shop for a Mexican mocha :)

Our server, Arthur, graciously brought me more water for my dog and offered me a bowl even though I already had both. For starters I had a Whiskey Smash ($14.75). I enjoyed it. I sampled a taste from my brother's beer flight ($18). My mom's Desperado Mexi Lager also. They were mostly enjoyable. Red apple cider was probably something I would have on the front porch. For lunch I had the BBQ brisket sandwich ($12.50) with fries, pickles, and onions. They did not skimp on the meat. There was BBQ at the table which I added because the brisket was a bit flavorless. I chuckled when our server brought the mac and cheese out to my ultra picky nieces. He stated to my sister-in-law that it was in fact the Kraft-style mac, but it wasn't. I mean maybe he should learn what that means first of all. But second... Can you believe those kids are so picky that they didn't eat a single bite? Eight dollars per bowl with a side. Wow. My kids would starve the rest of the afternoon if their food smelled and tasted half way decent. Lol. I can almost hear the mutterings at my parenting style. Hey at least I drank my overpriced whiskey cocktail. Because our party was so large, automatic gratuity of 18% was added to our ticket. The women's restroom was small and mostly clean, but awkward entering and exiting with other women and girls crammed inside. I did not like how tables in our area were left untouched long after other patrons left. If I had my choice, I would probably opt for an alternative place next time. I was not that impressed by the staff's overall indifference to all the patrons. RATING BREAKDOWN (3 stars overall, bumped up because they were dog-friendly!) Just discovered this unique and cute coffee shop on a recent get-away weekend to Red River. If you want an amazing cappuccino, look no further! The espresso roast was smooth and flavorful. I got a cappuccino with oat milk and it was delicious. Perfect for a little afternoon pick me up after our hike. My wife got a smoothie and said it was really fruity and tasty. I've been coming to red river for 47 years. Started bringing my wife with me 30 years ago. We had always talked about how red river needed a good coffee shop with friendly service. The 70s were playing one of the days we went it (we've gone about 8 times this trip). We were also told the history on the caboose which impressed me that the baristas knew. The first day I went here I ordered a Moab which is a biscuits and gravy but 100 times better. It makes all of your bacon dreams come true. She went with vanilla and oat milk, while I stuck with my go-to combination of oat milk and honey. Both drinks were outstanding. Smooth, balanced, and packed with flavor without being overly sweet. I've had coffee all over the United States and in several countries around the world, and these lattes easily rank among my favorites. The coffee impressed us so much that we couldn't leave without grabbing a bag of their light roast to take home. What stood out just as much as the coffee was the atmosphere. The staff was incredibly welcoming, the service was excellent, and despite the constant flow of customers, everyone was smiling. Yes, you'll probably wait in line--but trust me, it's worth every minute. One funny moment from our visit: I had just found an open table when a gentleman told me, "I was saving that one."
