I do wish there was a little bit of spice to it, but not a con. I even ordered a cup of green chili with my shrimp tacos. And my husband ordered the slopper. I loved the shrimp tacos, that I got the lettuce instead of a tortilla. I would highly order and recommend. Husband loved the slipper. He said if you don't see the fries or bun, assume your eating it all. Our waiter is very knowledgeable and was quick with his recommendations. He answered a burger question when asked and took his time with us. We did not feel rushed. My husband also ordered a beer flight and found some he enjoyed. All the staff worked together and matched our personality. Well, my husband's personality. We ended up ordering 3 cups if green chili with their chips. The salsa had a nice kick, mild kick, because they added green chilis to it. It tasted home made. When we had a minor issue with the bill, our waiter took charge and without hesitation took to fix it. We of course had to order dessert. Our waiter came back within minutes to inform some of the desserts were sold out but offered a replacement. I got the peach pie and my husband got the chocolate cake. The peach pie was a perfect mini size Cons: My husband was surprised the manager wasn't walking around ensuring everything ran smoothly. I honestly don't see it as a con. Also, the parking lot is small and when it gets busy I can see walking from another block over. There are 3 spots for the hotel and 4 spots that are a 2 hour limit. Recommended? Absolutely yes. Great food and excellent staff. Everyone here is friendly and seems excited to help the customers. We will definitely be back. I also ordered the Velvet Smoke mezcal cocktail, and wow, it was exceptional. Smooth, perfectly balanced, and not too strong. The smoky notes were present but not overpowering, and the nixta slate liqueurs, or heat and bitters brought everything together beautifully. Great service, great drinks, and a team that's willing to go the extra mile. Definitely worth the stop.

THe staff were very friendly and took the trouble to wish us happy anniversary a number of times. The restaurant offers a '2 for $30' deal, which we used. For that we had a very nice house and a Caesar salad, The restaurant charges $5.00 extra for their house onion soup. It was good, properly done French onion soup, with a half roll floating in it with Gruyere cheese. Worth $5.00? Well... maybe. We also ordered their signature appetizer: vegetable tempura. That was mushrooms, cauliflower, zucchini and a thick onion ring deep fried in batter. It was tasty, served with Ranch dressing, but I wouldn't call it 'tempura'. Entree was 'country fried steak', an offering from the special menu. It was competently prepared, served with a nice gravy on top of a small mound of mashed potatoes. The mashed were obviously home-made: little lumps that indicate that they weren't done from a mix. Impressed. They had a pleasant touch of garlic. Haricot verts on the side. Dessert was a slice of berry topped cheesecake. It had very distinct pleasant vanilla flavor. Consistency was nearly perfect. THe place was quiet and about half full when we walked in. Staff were the greeter, who doubled as a waitress, the bartender, who also did double duty on the floor and one other person behind the bar. All with whom we made contact were friendly and helpful. There's a TV over the bar that, I suppose, runs sports on the weekends. This evening they were playing contemporary Christmas music. So, kinda nice. I would make one constructive criticism. I hope the restaurant is reading this: Because it was a weeknight and business was a bit slow, they seated everyone in the bar area. Decor was pleasant and they actually had changed out the wall hangings to reflect the Christmas season. Park East is considered one of the more elegant dining venues in our city. The room this evening was pleasant, with cloth tablecloths and nice cloth napkins. But the elegance was diminished a bit by lighted beer signs hanging on the wall. One was beside the entrance and the other on a wall by the bar. Those belong in the neighborhood dive or sports bar, not in what could be considered a better dining establishment.

The one bright spot of the night was the female bartender near the dance floor -- she was genuinely friendly and gave us the only positive interaction we had there. After that, we walked to the other side of the bar hoping maybe the vibe would improve, but it only got worse. There were barely any people there, almost all men, and the atmosphere became even more uncomfortable. Not like the waitresses weren't waiting on other people, it's just no one was waiting on us. Anyway after that, the service was pretty good except at the end where it took awhile to get the check. Food was good. I got the chicken fried steak and it was pretty good. Breading didn't crack away from the steak, the sides were good, and the gravy was really good. Salad was simple but also really good. Others got the pub steak, and I think one of the burritos. All said the food was good. We all got some bread pudding to go which was really good later on.
