We rode to Richmond for a nice day on the road and a meal. When we came out of the restaurant my battery was totally dead. I called Steel Horse HD at 3pm on a Friday evening. I talked to Lt Dan. He called me back shortly and assured me he was on the way. Shortly after our conversation he arrived with the trailer. Secured my bike and took me back to the dealership. Once there we were offered all the amenities to make sure we were comfortable while we waited. The staff was very friendly and got me back on the road in record time. Lt Dan actually called me the next day to make sure we got home safely and offer his assistance if we ever needed the dealership again. read more

In my Opinion ! About 5 years ago I test rode a Road King at there old location and it rained so the salesman let me keep my Independence Custom Red w Silver Dragon Tail in there showroom overnight so as not to have to get wet from a thunderstorm & dirty up my chopper. Very nice service & great people to work with as they went out of their way to help me out. Would Definitely Buy a Hog from them in the future. Seems like mixed reviews here for Steel Horse, so I thought I'd add my sincere appreciation for their kind staff. I've browsed their showroom floor many times... and I take my Honda there for inspections and tires and things like that. Always a pleasure. Very surprised to see any bad stuff, but that's why I don't love Yelp or Angie's List because usually these are forums for squeaky wheel people who are unreasonable to find their voice. But anyway.. If I could give them less of a rating, I would worst customer service I have ever had anywhere. Made an appointment in March. They said it would be three weeks before I could get it in. After three weeks I took my bike there and they had no record of me, they said they would squeeze me in for a 5000 mile service. five weeks later it hadn't been touched. Never called to let me know anything. They all walk around like they don't have a clue as to what they are doing. I wouldn't take a bicycle there for anything. If you want to ride this summer, find somewhere else to take your bike. I have wasted 8 weeks on these morons. read more

Have been here twice. So far, I like them much better than our "local" HD (Bayside, which I don't claim and refuse to back). On our first venture in with a couple of close friends, my husband and I were both able to find an array of shirts that we really liked and the prices were a little lower than we expected for the area. The sales associates were quick to assist us and answered all of our questions. I found a pair of chaps that I loved, but didn't get them that day. We figured we'd get them at Southside HD. (Unfortunately, they didn't have them and I (stupidly) forgot to get the item number so they couldn't even look it up for me.) The second time we visited, MONTHS later, we were with a rather LARGE group of fellow riders (we had just gotten done with a charity ride) and my husband urged me to go find the chaps I liked. I didn't see them and wasn't worried about it. My husband secretly found a sales associate, told her exactly what I was looking for and managed to look at 3 different sets secretly until she brought him out the pair that I originally liked. He brought them over for me to look at and my eyes got wide....when he explained what he had done and how helpful the SA was, I had to give her a hug! Kudos....on nothing more than a description from a product they had 5 months before, she was able to find them in their inventory. Plus she gave us a discount because it was my birthday! Anytime we are in the area, we will definitely visit! (1 star off because we observed a Motorcycle Sales Associate be very rude to a customer who was interested in purchasing a bike....the SA was too busy trying to get the attention of a woman about 20 feet away, who was standing with her boyfriend. Long story short, the customer service from their service center is terrible. The general manager "John" and a technician were incredibly rude over a chain that was incorrectly cut by one of their techs. They argued with me in the middle of the shop about how to count links on a chain. They adamantly refused to replace my chain and mocked me for not riding a "real bike" because I do not ride a Harley. I had to call corporate Harley and file a complaint before the shop made things right. The only nice interaction I had was with Reggie but I cannot support this business. It would have been easier to spend the money to purchase the tool than to work with these guys. read more

The staff here is really nice and friendly. Brought the bike in a few times for service. Tried to sell a used Harley to them recently but wasn't able. instead of just sending us on our way they gave us the name of another non dealership that could maybe help. It ended up working out great and I'm thankful they are honest and knowledgeable. read more

Drove my bike into the service center for valve stem replacement and state inspection. A week later called and said they didn't have the right valve stems for my custom mags and will have to drill my wheels to make theirs fit. Three weeks after, having not heard anything, I go by to see where my bike is. They said they couldn't get it started and called to tell me my carburetors needed to be rebuilt! (I never received a call). The service tech remembers me driving it in there but reluctantly I said OK. After another t couple of weeks no call so I go by there again! Paid my outrages bill and waited and waited. After 25 minutes the service manager tells me they can't get the bike started! Says my six month old battery is bad and wants to sell me a new one! Angry I said push it out here and I will trailer it home. Turns out the battery is shorted and I'll have to replace it. DID I TELL YOU I RODE THE BIKE INTO THE SERVICE AREA!!! read more

To all my fellow riders: I URGE YOU NOT TO BUY ANYTHING FROM STEEL HORSE HARLEY DAVIDSON (11501 Hull Street Rd. Midlothian, VA 23112.) As most of you know I love riding motorcycles, all types. Today I ventured in to Steel Horse HD to test ride a Road King. My past experience with Steel Horse HD has not been the best, which is why I purchased by last Harley from Barb's HD in NJ. As I browsed the showroom floor I was approached by a sales associate, he recognized me from before. He asked how I was doing and we began a conversation. I told him I was looking at a possible purchase in the near future and told him I was interested in the Road King. I then asked if I could take one out for a test ride. It was at this moment that our conversation changed. He stated, "Doesn't your buddy own a dealership up north?" I replied, "That's where I purchased my last bike." Almost immediately after my response the sales associate turned away and walked back to his desk. I followed the sales associate to his desk and asked him, "Are you not interested in a sale?" He replied, "You test rode a bike last time then bought from another dealer, why would I do that?" I quickly reminded the sales associate that after I had test rode the Street Glide he was given a chance to match the price that Barb's had offered. Their response back then was, "If you can get it for that price then buy it from them, we can't beat that price" - so I did. I asked the sales associate a second time, "Are you not willing to let me test ride a bike?" He replied, "I'm in the middle of helping another customer out right now." (There were no other individuals in the store) I told the sales associate that Steel Horse HD sales department was terrible, here I was expressing interest in a $20,000.00 motorcycle and he was too "busy" to help. I told the sales associate that I would not recommend anyone to their store and he would not have to worry about my business from that point forward. His response, "You know where the door is." Just before I left the sales associate followed me to the front door. He asked, "What's your name?" I responded, "Does it matter?" and walked out of the store. I normally don't post things like this on FB but I do want you to know that Steel Horse HD will not get anymore of my business. Great sales! I got the best price period! at Steel Horse Harley Davidson. This is my 10th, that's right, TEN, Harley from this store. There's a reason I keep coming back. Rob has always treated me like family and not just another sale. I place more value in Rob's advice/opinion that I do the factory's. This is a smaller store, part of Richmond Harley Davidson and I am always treated with respect and courtesy there also. read more
