Stefano's Pizza is is one of my favorites. I have been going to this particular location for quite some time now. I ordered the Mill Valley Works last night and it was delicious! I love their crust and the pie overall was made to perfection. My family loves their homemade sausage so we order it as one of our toppings every time. We usually pick up our orders since we are not far away. The location is on the smaller side in a small strip small off South Novato Blvd. One of the workers greeted me when I came to pick up my order and he was as happy as can be. There is a sign on the register which says the first container is free and the second container is .75 cents. I asked if I could have a container of ranch and he gave me two. That was nice of him to give them to me free of charge. The guy who rang me up at the register was also nice and gave me a handful of paper plates even though I only asked for a few. It was 1:45pm and I just finished getting my nails done next door. I stepped out, was hungry, and looked around. There is a big sign in the window at Stefano's that they sell slices. Oh nice! I walked in and got a slice of their pepperoni & cheese pizza. Hunger satisfied. Pizza was nice & warm, the crust had a nice chew, and flavors were mild. The size was generous. One slice was $6.50. Originally i had a pick up time for 6:18-6:33 then I received an update that it would be ready between 6:40-6:56. I arrived at 6:56 and found that the pizza had not even been started and the employee stated it would be another 45 minutes. I showed him the text stating my pick up time and he assured me that my order would be moved to the front of the line. 25 minutes later and after asking AGAIN about my order I received my pizza. This is for an order delivered via Grub Hub. I am not sure if they have separate drivers or not, and I cannot know if this is the drivers fault anyway. I ordered 3 Diet Cokes & requested ice in the notes, a meatball sandwich and a chicken bacon ranch sandwich for delivery since I was stuck at work without a car. The estimated delivery time was 45/55 minutes. I ordered at 11:45 am on a Saturday. After waiting an hour and 15 minutes, I contacted GrubHub via chat. Of course, as soon as I did that, the driver showed up. Murphy's Law! My first complaint is how long it took and my second complaint is that they brought regular Coke instead of Diet and no ice, even though I asked nicely. Since I was still chatting with GrubHub, I mentioned this to them. They contacted Stefano's for me and was told they couldn't bring ice because it would melt on the transport, but they would bring the right Coke. This made me happy, and although I understand the reason for not bringing ice, I will just say that I would take that risk... Anyway, the "sandwiches" were just ok. I do not believe that the meatballs were homemade and I got the impression that the chicken was from frozen. But it was for my dog, so no big deal. Yes, I ordered a sandwich for my dog! lol Bottom line is that I really love Stefano's PIZZA and from now on I will order PIZZA and I will pick it up myself to save time, money, & frustration. My daughter insists on Stefano's at least once a week. Always plain cheese. She's a picky purist. :-) As a former NYker, I can say it's pretty darn good. I can't eat pizza the way I used to due to my (ahem) age, so I'm grateful for their yummy Spinach salads with cranberries, walnuts, and goat cheese! I'm never completely good so I still eat all her crusts and one (or two or three) slice(s) too. I can't help myself, they do it right!! After a decade of shabby treatment at this place, Stefano's is finally dead to me. Last night (a Sunday night) was the last straw. The guy who took the phone order was rude and unprofessional. And when I pickled up my pizzas, he actually laughed and said: "It smells like hot cardboard! Ha ha!" Yeah, ha ha. I ordered two XL pizzas and the bill was $60. One of them, their super combo, HAD NO SAUCE ON IT. None. It was dry. If you can't make a decent pizza AND your customer service sucks so bad that it's insulting... please go out of business ASAP. I LOVE Stefano's Pizza, and continue to order from them as their pizza is really good, their staff/delivery folks excellent, and their wings are awesome - as is their hot sauce = amazing. However, the Novato location is very, very, skimpy on toppings. Like, ten 'bits' of mushroom on half a pie - maybe ten jalapeño on a whole pie.
