I bought a ladies Rolex from Stein Diamonds for Christmas. I am 100% satisfied with the Rolex that I purchased. It is a brand new Rolex so there are no flaws or defects with it. Although the staff are very friendly, I would have appreciated a little bit more communication from the sales department. I had to reach out to them to see if they received my wire after I called them and told them I was going to purchase the Rolex. I had to call and ask the following day when the Rolex was going to be shipped. I never received notice that the Rolex was shipped so I called again and they told me it was shipped the day before. It seems extremely important to me that with this type of investment, that they would put their customer at ease by communicating these details. Despite that slight grievance, I would not hesitate to purchase another product from Stein Diamonds. They have proven trustworthiness to a fine product. I have revised my rating due to the deplorable conduct of the store owner "Kia" who privately messaged me here on Yelp. He was all too eager to accuse and threaten me, but not once did he acknowledge or apologize for his business's deceptive practices, and the politeness I mentioned in my original review was nowhere to be found. Based on my experience thus far, this is not the type of store where intelligent, self-respecting people should shop. This is the kind of behavior I would expect from a sleazy pawnbroker with a bad attitude. Pre-owned does not necessarily mean worn. If "Kia" lacks the basic intelligence necessary to understand the difference, that's not my problem. They're not even an authorized Rolex dealer at all, so technically, every Rolex they sell would be considered pre-owned. Their terms and conditions falsely state that all of the watches they sell are unworn, and the fact that they used pictures of an unworn, pristine watch in place of the actual watch they were selling is simply inexcusable. They never even revealed the fact that the watch had been unsealed and the dial replaced by God knows who until I figured it out for myself and pressed them for an answer. I initially gave a 2-star review, but revised it to 1 star based on Kia's inflammatory remarks and shameful behavior. Just as he did in the private messages, he launches straight into a tirade of accusations and hate speech, and not once does he apologize or offer to make things right. Stein Diamonds aka L'Amor jewelry is questionable at best, but more accurately is shady. Online, their prices are very competitive and they have a nice selection of settings. They also advertise some very nice polices. However, reality is much different. Under their Terms of Service they have a "Lifetime Diamond Upgrade" the say: "Any loose diamond purchased from Stein Diamonds can be exchanged for a credit towards a new diamond of at least 2x or greater in value. The diamond that is being upgraded must be in original condition and accompanied by the original laboratory-grading document. To upgrade your diamond, you can send the diamond and original certificate to our Los Angeles office, and you will receive credit for the price for your diamond applied towards a new diamond purchase. There is no limit on the number of times you can upgrade your diamond and there is no restocking fee. For example, if your original diamond was purchased for $3,500 and you would like to upgrade to a diamond which is $7,000, you only pay the difference of 3,500.00. In some instances, a diamond may have incurred damage, through daily wear. We will accept the diamond back, deducting the cost of polishing and reshaping." When I called Stein diamonds I inquired about this policy. I was told I would receive $5,600 (on a $5,900 purchase) but I assumed the $300 deduction was for the setting so I was content. But the offer was only valid if I wanted a $15,000 stone the saleswoman was pushing. When I indicated to her I wanted something more in the $12,000 range (so I would only have to spend $6,000 again, she said she "had to ask the owner." The owner returned with a $3,000 offer. I read verbatim the policy on diamond upgrades to which Kim (sales rep) told me "The website is wrong, we give a current market price." Which is clearly deceptive in addition to not being logical. The cost of diamonds and gold has risen astronomically in the last six years. Well at this point I decided some money was better than no money so I started to look for stones in the $10,000 range. I found quite a few nice ones on the website. Most of the ones that had the best ratings and price were "sold or about to be sold" when I would call and ask about them. The saleswoman would also counter with a "similar" but more expensive or worse quality stone. I also find it odd they don't publish the GIA certs like most legitimate dealers. They will email them to you. I was calling from overseas with a 17 hour time difference and while I called, I was constantly put on hold or told "I will call you back" then receive a return call at 4AM, when I told them about the time difference. Frustrated, I said forget it and tried to shop the "beautiful ring" that I purchased from them in 2007 before I knew much about diamonds. I foolishly accepted an EGL Israel certified diamond as the center stone and two GIA certified side stones. When I ordered the ring, they did not mail the certificates with the ring because "I may change my mind and return it." They mailed them separately about week after purchase when I requested them multiple time in email. At the time it seemed normal, but now I know this is very suspicious and not industry standard. WIth that in mind I had a family member take the ring to some pretty respectable dealers who have been in the business for 30+ years and they all said the certifications were questionable. EVEN THE GIA ones. The jeweler said the measurements didnt match the stone and the clarity said "IF" but he pointed out multiple inclusions. Just like the advertised diamonds, this was a clear bait and switch. The biggest kick in the pants was that several of these jewelers said I overpaid in 2007 by a great margin. So bottom line is: I don't know what this "store" is about, but I know I wouldnt trust a thing they say or sell. Would give less than 1 star if possible. I also suggest reading the filtered reviews. I find it odd that Yelp "randomly" selected all the negative reviews to be filtered. Wonder how much Stein is paying them? read more

We purchased a diamond necklace cross online as a Xmas gift for our Mother. In looking around at the malls there just was not a great selection and anything i would be expecting for the price range we were looking at. So while looking online i found the Stein Diamonds website and we found the selection and prices to be much larger and nicer. When we received the necklace it was as nice as I could picture, and packaged very nicely to give as a gift. All that being said, unfortunately when we gave the gift to my Mother it was not her desired style she would have picked. We were obviously a little disappointed however we were aware that Stein offers a 30 day money back guarantee. After calling and speaking with an individual named Shaun, I told him what happened and he said that it was no problem and gave me instructions on sending the item back, and when they received the item they would refund the purchase. Following his instructions, I sent the item back and when they received it back on the very same day (I had a tracking label) they refunded in full my purchase. I was sad that the item we picked out for our Mother wasn't to her liking, however I was extremely happy in my dealings with Stein in both my purchase and return process.
