Dr. Angelidakis is very good, but office days and times are not very convenient. And staff are not too great.

I was so…read morenervous about my gum graft surgery (which required tissue from both sides of my palate to thicken tissue under 5 teeth). I compared so many options in NYC, and even other states and outside the US. Two weeks after my gum graft, I feel confident that I made the best choice. I knew beforehand that the surgery wouldn't be covered by insurance, and truth be told, it wasn't cheap--but it was worth every penny for this level of care. The entire time, I knew I was in good hands. There was the option to watch Netflix or other platforms before and during the procedure, though in the end I switched to just music. (You can even choose the music if you want.) I'm so grateful to Dr. Liss, who really rooted me on and made me feel seen and cared for, and even called me that evening to see how I was feeling. I'm told this is probably the only graft I'll need, and it sounds like this investment will enable me to keep my lower front teeth another 40 years. If I need any other procedures in the future, it'll be a relief to know I can go back to Upper East Smiles. (I rarely write reviews, but the reviews made a big difference in helping me figure out where to go--I hope this review helps someone in a similar situation.)

Dr. Kim claimed that she wouldn't know if I needed root canals unless she took my current fillings apart. She vaguely pointed out the problematic teeth on the X-ray. The whole discussion just seemed really strange to me because when she initially entered the room she said that my teeth looked okay. Also, I tend to take care of my teeth, and was not experiencing any pain. I decided to get a second opinion from another doctor in NYC. It turns out that I didn't need any root canals. The dentist that I went to didn't need to break down my current fillings to determine this. I feel like they hire a lot of inexperienced dentists at this location, and not senior dentists to give second opinions on procedures. After doing my research, I found out that Dr. Kim had graduated dental school a few years which probably explains her lack of knowledge.

They slotted me in with someone I was not comfortable with from the start. Immediately, the culture changed. If you like Grand Central, they bring it right into the dentist's office. Assistants rushing around, people chatting and clanging into things. A real display of chaos that makes dental work feel like a construction site. The new dentist did a cleaning and told me my crown would probably fall off. It did. I went back. They cleaned the area, treated what needed to be treated, and replaced the crown. Immediately, I could feel that something was wrong. My bite was grinding, and the gap around the crown was all I could feel when I ate. I went back and had them adjust the bite. When I questioned the gap, I was told it had always been there. Too dismissive, too defensive. I knew what my mouth felt like before the crown was replaced, and I knew what it felt like afterward. I got a second opinion. That dentist thought the entire thing needed to be redone. Instead of stepping back and reconsidering the work, I was eventually pressured into letting them do a bridge. That bridge failed along with the crown they had placed, leaving me dealing with the consequences and looking for yet another dentist. And the way they handled my questions was almost as troubling as the work itself. The dentist who did the procedure was laughing and joking with colleagues while stretching out my mouth. When I questioned the results, I felt dismissed and pressured rather than listened to. At one point I was told my tooth was moving, then the dentist told me it had been a difficult job. That was news to me. It certainly wasn't communicated while she was working on me. If you like the feeling of being rushed through dental work, pressured into additional treatment, and then made to feel like you're the problem when you question the results, you'll love this place. One thing they are really good at is dodging responsibility. The managers seem to have plenty of time away from the office when you're trying to get help with a problem. I like a dentist who is communicative, careful, and knows what they're doing. This is not my dentist. I will never go back. Best of luck with your dental search. A good dentist is a real find. Keep looking.

I typically don't write reviews--good or bad--but I feel incredibly dissatisfied and disappointed…read morewith my experience at Dr. Vasserman's office. I was recommended to this office by someone I truly trust, as I am not originally from NYC. The office itself is nice, and Corrie is typically friendly. For a basic teeth cleaning, this place is fine. However, if you need any significant dental work, I strongly urge you to reconsider. In 2022, my teeth had shifted due to Invisalign, and I wanted to have my front tooth (tooth #8), which had a crown from a childhood injury, redone so that it aligned properly. I initially considered finding a specialist but decided to go with Dr. Vasserman--something I deeply regret. Trust your intuition--if something feels off, it probably is. When I discussed my needs with Dr. Vasserman in April 2022, he assured me it would take only a few weeks. However, after many emails and back-and-forth conversations, I was informed that it would actually take eight weeks just for the lab in Chicago to begin my case. This was a complete contradiction to what I was initially told. When the crown finally arrived months later, I was shocked. This was supposed to be from the best of the best lab, yet the tooth looked nothing like the rest of my teeth. I don't understand why he didn't use a lab in NYC where I could have been directly involved in the process. It became increasingly clear that he didn't know what he was doing when it came to cosmetic dental work. After much back-and-forth, and clear frustration from Dr. Vasserman, we eventually landed on a tooth that was "acceptable"--but by this point, it was July. Between April and July, my temporary tooth fell out multiple times, I had to go back and forth to the office countless times, and I constantly questioned my decision to have him do the work. The worst part? Any time I called for an update or to get help, it often felt like the office was avoiding me. Calls would go unanswered, and I would have to follow up multiple times just to get basic information. The lack of communication and accountability was infuriating. Fast forward to November 2024--I started experiencing severe pain and discomfort in my front tooth. The pain was unbearable, keeping me up at night and even giving me headaches. I switched dentists due to my previous experience and didn't feel comfortable returning to Dr. Vasserman. Well, turns out my instincts were right--I now have a serious infection in the tooth. The crown wasn't even cemented properly, leaving it loose and unstable. The infection has become so severe that my tooth is now unsalvageable. I have to undergo major surgery, including tooth extraction and bone grafting, because the infection has eroded my bone. Here's the most frustrating part: I have had this tooth redone three times in my life, and never--not once--have I had an issue like this until this last procedure. The fact that I trusted a dentist who clearly lacked the skill and experience for this type of work is devastating. The moral of the story? If something feels off, trust yourself. Go to a specialist. If I had listened to my gut, I wouldn't be dealing with this nightmare now. If you only need a cleaning, this place is fine. But for any serious dental work, I cannot recommend this office and would strongly advise against going here.
