For the life of me, I cannot figure out how this restaurant has 4.5 stars. My wife and I stopped by for an early dinner on a Saturday. The place was empty. No slow. I mean there were no one else in the restaurant. It was 3:00, so I didn't think anything about it. We stood there for 5 minutes waiting for someone to seat us. Finally, the waitress came in the front door. Not sure where she had been. After being seated, the waitress was very attentive and helpful. She did a great job. I ordered the French Onion Soup to start. It was ok, but nothing exceptional. It lacked flavor and the richness you expect from French Onion Soup. It needed seasoning and something to set it off. It had a few croutons and very little cheese. When I say very little cheese, I didn't see and cheese, but it did string out when I pulled the spoon next to my mouth. I then had the Wrangler Burger. It was pretty good, but the hamburger patty hadn't been seasoned before frying. Again, it lacked seasoning, which is the theme for the whole dinner. I will say the type of bun was very good and grilled just right. My wife had spaghetti and meatballs. She said the pasta was cooked perfectly and the sauce was really good. The meatballs were tough and dry. I would guess they were microwaved. And one more thing, check your tables. Ours rocked back and forth to an extreme. Once a week, level the tables. Well, we really wanted to live this place but their battle cry is, "Strive for the mediocre." read more

3 of us had dinner there last nite Saturday at 4:15 so they just opened , we were there few years ago and what a decline it went to .the server was excellent but food sub par I had the gyro meal and the meat what little there was was burnt to a crisp and very little sauce on the gyro so totally upset with , the floor had food on it and since they just opened it is to say the least they don't clean . The table cloth was stained with white spots all over 5 The wall ww were next to had food stains on it and there was actually an old blue hat lying under the table against the wall, I asked my wife for salt and pepper and wanted to throw up the salt and pepper shakers were all greasy and the pepper actually had old food on the top disgusting to say the least really went down hill!!!! read more

If you are looking for a delicious meal in a relaxed non pretentious atmosphere when you are in Lock Haven, then make Stella A's your stop. If you are lucky enough to have Bob as your bartender, your drinks will be made perfectly. The menu offers a nice variety of selections and the prices were reasonable for the quality of food you'll receive. I ordered a filet mignon from the features of the evening and it was cooked perfectly. The sides dishes were plentiful and the salad was crisp. The atmosphere was ok in a semi formal dining room with black table cloths . We ate around 6pm and it was not crowded. The waitress was knowledgeable and polite and it was not a long wait to be served. Prices were ok on most items. Unfortunately the entrees were varying degrees of ok, just ok. We all tried their greek dishes which didn't live up to expectations. Having eaten at several greek restaurants in major cities we had high hopes that were let down mostly by mild seasonings which apparently cater to the local palette. This is a little gem of a place that we stopped at on a road trip. Our AirBNB hosts recommended Stella A's and it did not disappoint. We sat outdoors on the back patio (pandemic, had been sitting in the car all day) and it was great to be outside on their rustic patio. We weren't too hungry so we ordered delicious drinks (I believe the winner was called the 007) and small plates. I had the Soup de Jour which had so many flavors it is hard to describe the deliciousness - a hearty tomato based chicken soup with just the right amount of spice, herbs, and other goodies. My friend had the Ahi Tuna which I don't usually like, but the bite I tried was super yummy. They also brought us fresh pita bread with roasted peppers and parmesan olive oil for dipping which was really good too. Jack was our waiter and he was great! Stella's is a top-notch dining experience in downtown Lock Haven. The menu is largely American but features a number of Greek specialty dishes as well. I enjoyed Phil's Specialty Chicken, while my companion had an equally excellent Steak Tips Alfredo. Service is fast, friendly, and obviously well-trained. Prices are quite reasonable for the portion size and quality. When weather permits, definitely check out the outdoor patio. The view isn't great but it is still a nice oasis in the heart of this small city. read more

Stopped here while driving thru town, found the place on Yelp. Came because it had mostly good reviews. Definitely recommend the Greek fries! Homemade and totally hit the spot. Greek salad was decent, fresh vegetables & crisp. My husband got some salmon on the side, he said it was cooked well but sometimes for me salmon can smell too fishy so I opted out. The hummus was o-hum, could have just been blended better and a bit more creamier so that it would stick to the pita or veggies. Friendly staff, good atmosphere at the beer. read more

Reservations for a large party after a graduation. Out of towners and found on Yelp. Very impressed with the friendly service and the quality of the food! Group had many varied dishes and all were great! From Italian to Greek to simple burgers, everything was delicious. This is the best restaurant in this area. We come here almost every two weeks. The service is excellent. I was once a waitress in high end restaurants and the service here is on par with all the top. We adore Sharone and Maggie. The food is fresh and does not disappoint. We always order the broccoli rabe with sausage to start. The Greek food is dynamite, and they will explain the Greek dishes to those unfamiliar. What I really like about Stella's is their menu is diverse. They have excellent fish, pasta and steaks.I usually go with the blue cheese delmomico..always cooked to perfection. Their drink menu is great as well. I came here on a Wednesday night ordered the tomato soup & two rolls if sushi. Everything here wasn't great but pretty mediocre and standard. I also feel like the tomato soup was missing something maybe some salt. I should've known better then to order sushi in a place like this. The phili cheese steak was so good! Fries were a little over spiced, but I met the cook at a later date and he said that the different types of seasoning is more salty than others. What a wonderful evening we had. We were there to celebrate our anniversary. Our table for two on the patio was ready for us when we arrived. We started off with the hot crab dip...perfect. Our meals were great, scallops for me and mixed seafood for my husband. The crab bisque is amazing. We finished off our meal by sharing the baklava...a must try. I'm here visiting and my friends took me to eat at Stella A's because it's one of their favorites in town. I ordered the eggplant parm and they both ordered Alfredo and everyone was very happy with our meals. Our waitress Hannah was friendly and attentive. I loved that you can pay at your table by scanning the QR code on the receipt on your phone. The only reason I gave it 4 stars is because the portion of eggplant on the eggplant parm was small. I stopped here for dinner this evening while staying in town for work and LOVED it! The bartender Bob was super friendly and made me feel right at home with his jokes and happiness. I started off with a mixed drink that was mixed perfectly, just enough rum to coke ratio. Next up was a house salad with the lemon vinaigrette dressing. My entree selection was the old bay seasoned scallops with homemade mashed potatoes and zucchini sticks that I dipped in marinara sauce. The portion size was massive and I wish that I was able to take my leftovers with me. Everything was incredibly delicious! All the customers sitting in the bar area were super friendly and chatted with me, it was nice to have some good conversations after having dinner by myself all week. I went to college in Lock Haven and this place is arguably the best restaurant in town. There is a Ruby Tuesday in Mill Hall but I don't think the food is even close to the food you can get at Stellas. It has an outside patio (available in the summer and fall) that makes the place even more appealing. The food has a greek emphasis, they serve turkey and veggie burgers for individuals looking for the sort of lighter burger. The menu at lunch can be a tad small but overall it is a good menu with a nice amount of items to choose from. In addition, the place possesses a full bar with a great bartender that makes decent dirty martinis. I can't speak for the dessert because I haven't had any of them. On Wednesday nights they have sushi night, which is something you'd normally have to drive 30 to 40 minutes to enjoy. I'll keep this short and sweet. Stella A's was a pleasure. I've been to Loch Haven a few times to visit my girlfriend, and always struggled to find a good quality restaurant for a date. Tonight we took a chance for our anniversary, and I have to say, they did not disappoint. The staff was great. They seemed ready and willing to serve us, and our waitress was on the ball. The food was delectable, and definitely on another tier from their local competition. Both of us were glad we chose Stella A's for dinner tonight. The chefs scallops with rice were a but disappointing with few scallops and tons of cheesy rice, but everything else was top notch. Went there for lunch...They serve burgers, sandwiches, and sides. We had gotten the bruschetta as an appetizer the bread had just come from the oven then was grilled so it was very fresh. And the warm bruschetta was awesome. I had even sent a text out that I kind of shamelessly wanted to lick the bowl. erm...on to other things. I had the meatball sub with zucchini planks and my fiancé had an Italian cold cut sandwich, which the comment was made they wish it was larger just for the fact it was so good and they wanted to keep eating. Not so good for our diets. Bartender was nice and had seated us quickly. The wait staff also pleasant and the food arrived in a timely manner. They typically are closed on Sundays and Monday's if you attempt to go there on those days. Dinners mainly focus on Greek dinning although they also have "homestyle meals." I have heard that they were pricey but we had gotten one appetizer the bruschetta, my meatball sub with zucchini planks, my fiancé's Italian cold cut sub with a good amount of fries and two drinks which they kept pretty full for us the entire time there for only $22.63, which I found to be very reasonable for the amount of food we got. I will say dinner tends to be a bit more on the expensive side but you are getting a main dish, olive oil, peppers and triangles for dipping usually, a salad and or soup and two sides usually for the price so I think the pricing of 13 to 20 bucks for those plates ($20 the upper end for Delmonico steaks etc) is not a bad rate at all. I will most certainly make this a stop more frequently as it's certainly better food than fast food chains in the area and roughly the same price range. They do also have an outdoor patio to eat at. This place has a classy feel about it. Only been for dinner so I am only going speak on that part of the food. Steaks are always good but can get expensive. Almost 100 dollars for two people so not necessarily for people on a budget. Food is wonderful and the crab bisque soup is out of this world. The staff is always friendly. The only downside is they need to train them how to make drinks. Ordered some sours and even though she was nice she had no clue how to make them. We drank them and paid for them anyways. So my final note is this is probably one of the better places to get a steak dinner. read more

The food was tasty, waitstaff was really nice, owner was accomodating, and food was averagely priced. We had a large group of people, we were all trying each other's food, so we tried a good amount of food. The food was good for the most part. When they first seat you they give you warm pita slices with a dipping sauce and sweet & hot peppers. Very tasty!! We ended up getting six meals, a children's meal, one burger, and one soup. The meals: Choice Delmonico, Pork Souvlaki, (2) Phil's Special Chicken, Chicken Marsala, and Kota Meh Spanaki. The Delmonico was tasty, but nothing special, especially not for almost $25. Save yourself some money and go to the Save-A-Lot and get a delmonico for $6/pound. Phil's Special Chicken, Chicken Marsala, and Kota Meh Spanaki, all were disgusting (in my opinion) because they all used the same marsala sauce. The marsala sauce was very salty and tasted like the wine wasn't cooked out. The people that ordered the Kota Meh Spanaki and Phil's Special Chicken liked their food though, so that's all that matters. I ordered the Chicken Marsala, and absolutely hated the sauce. I asked if there was anyway I could get it a little less salted or cooked more to cook the wine taste out a bit more, but I was told that that's how the sauce tastes, and I was given the option to get a chicken parm or rosemary chicken instead, as they were the only other sauces they had. It leads me to believe that the sauces are premade, and that they can't control the flavor to such an extent. I'm not sure of that, that's just what I'm assuming. The Pork Souvlaki was amazing! I think I ate more of my Dad's Souvlaki than he did! It was the singularly best thing at the restaurant. Amazing!! The side dishes we tried, mashed potatoes, zucchini planks (deep fried zucchini), onion rings, and french fries (no cole slaw, they were all out) were all really tasty, especially the mashed potatoes and zucchini. The soup was a lobster bisque (I believe, it could have been a clam chowder, I don't honestly remember), but it was also tasty. The burger was I think a Boo Foo burger. I didn't taste it, but the person who ordered it liked it. Over all, the food's a bit pricey ($11 to $25 for entrees, $8 to $11 for sandwiches), but worth it.
