Outside - this is the back of the building

I was in Williamsport overnight after hiking Ricketts Glen and looking for a place to get dinner based on the Yelp reviews I decided to give The Olive Tree a try. I ran into into a couple of nits finding the restaurant; first it was the First Friday on W.4th so street closed to traffic and plenty of people out enjoying themselves. After finding parking nearby I tried to find The Olive Tree based on the address and it looked like the place didn't even exist; finally after a couple times around I noticed the small sign that said the place was in the back of the building. I circled around and found The Olive Tree tucked in next to the back parking lot. Walking in you find a small place that is packed with femininity, history and charm. It feels very old school with a huge chalkboard menu, chandeliers, wire chairs and glass tables and many flourishes. My attention was immediately drawn to the display case of a wide variety of delicious looking baklava. I was greeted by the owner and grabbed a table to look at the menu, which had plenty of vegetarian and seafood options. I decided to order the variety platter to get a nice selection of different tastes. The platter came with spanakopita, dolmathes, vegetables, hummus, skordalia, tzatziki, feta, and grilled pita bread; I asked to leave off the olives. What I got was an beautifully presented buffet of flavors, textures and some of the best Mediterranean food I have had. All of the food was clearly made in house using traditional recipes. The spanakopita was excellent, thin layers of crisp dough surrounded perfectly seasoned spinach and feta cheese. The dolomathes, grape leaves stuffed with rice and spices and rich olive oil. The hummus was hearty and flavorful, just the right bit garlicky. The tzatziki was smooth and light, a perfect compliment to the raw broccoli and carrots. This is the first time I have encountered skordalia, the 'Greek penicillin" a delicious combination of potatoes, garlic, dill and olive oil. The pita bread freshly grilled and perfect on its own or for dipping. I am not a huge fan of feta cheese, but here it was better then I have had before; the owner explained they drain the water and soak the feta in olive oil which makes it smoother and less salty. A truly excellent dinner and plenty of food. Delicious, vegetarian and healthy I was incredibly pleased with my choice to try The Olive Tree. I would strongly recommend giving them a try either to eat there or for take out. If nothing else I would return just to try some of the baklava.

This is a hidden gem! We're 1:45 away, but will be making this trip again because the food was just that good! We absolutely loved talking with Sophia, the owner. Love her sassy, no BS attitude. Already looking forward to visiting again!

Unbelievably good. The best Greek food we have eaten in a long time. Adorable quaint owner operated. I would give it 6 stars.

The texture showed up ready to work. The flavor, however, called out sick and never returned. Every bite sounded incredible and then immediately tasted like air that had been briefly introduced to salt. This place used to be legendary. Life-altering. The kind of chicken that ruined other chicken for you. Now it's fried chicken that crunches confidently while delivering absolutely no message. It's like listening to fireworks with noise-canceling headphones on. And the onion rings -- golden, crunchy, structurally flawless circles of nothing. Perfectly fried, expertly engineered, and seasoned with the restraint of a monastery. I kept waiting for flavor to kick in. It never did. It just stared back at me. Nothing was wrong. Nothing was exciting. I wasn't mad -- I was confused. How can something be this crispy and still say so little? This wasn't bad food. Bad food has opinions. This was food that refused to take a stance. Crown Fried Chicken didn't disappoint me. It crunched loudly, said nothing, and left me alone with my thoughts.

Just a heads up, the prices have definitely went up quite a bit in recent years. 2 lamb/chicken and rice meals and 1 side cost me just under $50. That's a little pricy for what is a large portion but amounts to mostly rice. And then they charge the same for lamb or chicken with rice, but if you want 1/2 lamb and 1/2 chicken, it's an upcharge. I guess I miss when this place was a spot that I could get some super tasty food and grub out for the low$ . But all things have gone up in price so it's not really a knock. Nonetheless it's still a place we choose to eat at nearly every week.

For the life of me, I cannot figure out how this restaurant has 4.5 stars…read more My wife and I stopped by for an early dinner on a Saturday. The place was empty. No slow. I mean there were no one else in the restaurant. It was 3:00, so I didn't think anything about it. We stood there for 5 minutes waiting for someone to seat us. Finally, the waitress came in the front door. Not sure where she had been. After being seated, the waitress was very attentive and helpful. She did a great job. I ordered the French Onion Soup to start. It was ok, but nothing exceptional. It lacked flavor and the richness you expect from French Onion Soup. It needed seasoning and something to set it off. It had a few croutons and very little cheese. When I say very little cheese, I didn't see and cheese, but it did string out when I pulled the spoon next to my mouth. I then had the Wrangler Burger. It was pretty good, but the hamburger patty hadn't been seasoned before frying. Again, it lacked seasoning, which is the theme for the whole dinner. I will say the type of bun was very good and grilled just right. My wife had spaghetti and meatballs. She said the pasta was cooked perfectly and the sauce was really good. The meatballs were tough and dry. I would guess they were microwaved. And one more thing, check your tables. Ours rocked back and forth to an extreme. Once a week, level the tables. Well, we really wanted to live this place but their battle cry is, "Strive for the mediocre."

The spicy foods were actually spicy, and the falafel was fresh and not dry. Definitely my quick go-to salad/ fresh bowl place for now. It is cold and cafeteria-style. Great option for state college. 4/5 Ambiance: modern/ industrial fast casual looking interior- tile-like wall is pretty, as are the jars of pickled vegetables and the cage lattices separating the dining high tables. Overall a clean feel and not too sterile feeling, though it may be on the border of being a bit too-bare-bones. This is the kind of place I could see bringing someone from out of town to. Music was really loud, as seems to be the style at these kinds of places, which could make quality conversations hard to do. 4/5 Service: Service was good. I ordered three bowls and they were served promptly. It didn't seem like anything special to make the dish, the server was literally looking at the recipe on the receipt and putting scoops of each into the bowl, which makes sense, especially for custom made bowls. This destroyed all imaginations of a chef custom making a dish to be tailored to the seasons, etc but the food was still tasty. (0/5 Bike parking: after looking I couldn't find a place to secure my bike) 5 : I will actively tell other people to go here 4 : I am happy to go back. 3 : I will go back if a friend suggests it. 2 : I will go back if someone is really insistent. 1 : I will not go back.
