    Salmon Salad

Food here is always well prepared. The menu is compact, which helps make service efficient and convenient. While limited, it has enough variety to satisfy most people with familiar sandwiches, salads, Mexican and vegetarian. They also have alcohol if you like a drink with your meal. Ambience is casual and can be a bit loud during peak hours. Solid go to place when you want quality fare at a reasonable price (expect to pay about $20-25 per person plus tip.

    Lunch at Stella's

I've driven by this place for years. Each time wondering what kind of food they had the atmosphere etc.? Yesterday I had the chance to have lunch there. It was really busy. Inside it's much larger than it looks. Parking is a little challenging so we had to Park in the neighborhood. I had the smoked Turkey Sandwich with a side of French Onion Soup. The Soup alone was enough for lunch and very delicious. My Turkey Sandwich was divine. It was made with really good quality food. I appreciate this because I'm noticing that some of my favorite places are using lower food contents due to the Economy but not Stella's. My entire lunch was about $17 and it was so big. They also have fantastic service despite being so busy. I can't wait to come back.

Such a cute place!! Ordered the hanger steak salad and it was delish - steak cooked and seasoned perfectly, dressing and accompaniments were splendid - will definitely come back and get this again next time I'm in Salt Lake City!!

    A fantastic flat steak salad.

Great lunch option! As a starter, I've gotta recommend the chile verde cheese fries that come loaded with guacamole, salsa, cilantro cream, remoulade, and olives ... so dang good! As an entree I had the flat steak salad and it was delicious--the balsamic vinegar dressing and artichoke hearts pair spectacularly with the meat. A bit of advice, arrive a little early if you expect to get a table during the lunch rush. The great food, friendly staff and cool dining vibes definitely draw a crowd.

I feel like I've driven past Stella Grill dozens of times over the past few years and finally made it in there for a meal. It didn't disappoint. The ambience is casual and laid back, and definitely a place to bring your friends. There were several groups of people here, each one looking like they were having the time of their lives. It just has a fun vibe to it. Service was fabulous and attentive, food was quick and tasty. I loved my strawberry salad and my dinner partner enjoyed the nachos. I'll be sure not to take so long before I stop by again.

My wife absolutely loves Stella grill. I think it's just OK. They have a cool atmosphere and it's great to eat outside on their patio. Their hanger steak salad is a popular dish. I got the Mexican roast beef dip. The fries were disappointing. Cheesecake dessert lacked flavor as well.

I'll start with the positives first - the food was amazing. Their fries are perfectly crispy and the fry sauce is delicious. I tried the hanger steak salad and it was delicious as well. The steak was cooked perfectly and the toppings were carefully placed. The restrooms and tables were clean. Unfortunately, everything else is left to be desired. The service was extremely slow, even though I went on a Saturday afternoon around 2 PM. The waiter got my order completely wrong and brought out the wrong dishes. They also spilled both me and my friends drinks, spilling them all over the table and our food. All in all, I probably won't go again simply because of the poor service.

I was pleasantly surprised by the decor inside, they have spent a great deal for this location. I ordered chips and salsa to start. These were not complimentary but when they arrived the salsa was fresh and unique. I was glad I ordered them. My wife chose the carne asada burrito. She raved about the flavor and could only finish half. I ordered a unique taco which had an authentic name this gringo cannot remember but it was built on a house made corn tortilla about twenty inches long and ten inches wide. Steak, Mexican cream, tomatillo sauce, freshly shredded lettuce and cheese. I've never had anything like it but it is awesome. The service was quick and efficient. Very delightful people. The check had included a 15% Service Charge so I was glad to see the options on the screen to add a tip began at a level that matched up with the service charge at a reasonable level. I only had one complaint, The music was a little loud. The sound system is great and I loved the authentic music but the baseline was pumping loud enough to hurt my ears. I'd recommend adjusting the volume or the mix to make it a little more comfortable. Overall I loved this experience and will definitely want to come again. No pictures, sorry.

The staff was friendly and welcoming. The restaurant was very clean. First of all, Muertos Cantina is a total vibe! The inside is so cool with fluorescent lighting, colorful decor and bottles displayed beautifully behind the bar. Even the bathrooms are worth mentioning! Each one is decorated differently with tons of bright colors. Seriously, each bathroom is like its own little fiesta sanctuary. Now for the FOOD! They start you off with fresh tortilla chips and a trio of salsas, and the chips were AMAZING (especially the flour chips). Each salsa had its own completely different flavor. The Red Chile Arbol had some heat, the Chipitle Lime Crema was smooth & creamu, and then there was the milder Tomatillo Verde, which was my favorite. Soooo good! We also tried the Agua Frescas. They were refreshing, flavorful and really pretty to look at. The watermelon was probably our least favorite, but to me anything watermelon flavored can sometimes taste a little watered down. The pineapple was definitely the winner because it was way more flavorful and satisfying. Then came the Elote Corn Dip. YUMMY! It had fire roasted corn, cheese, spices, crema, pico de gallo, cilantro and Tajín. It had so much flavor and texture. Definitely one I would order again. My daughter chose the Birria Ramen, and I think this might have been her favorite part of the meal. It had slow cooked beef birria, consommé, melty cheese and ramen noodles with cilantro and red onions, plus lime and radishes on the side. It had a little spice to it and was absolutely packed with flavor. She loved it! My husband ordered one of their burritos with a side of tater tots. The kid in him was VERY happy that tater tots were an option. And FYI the burritos here are HUGE. I ordered the Smothered Spicy Chile Verde Burrito, and OMG. It had braised pork in chile verde sauce with rice and refried black beans, wrapped in a flour tortilla and then smothered with MORE chile verde, melted cheese and chipotle lime crema. It was MASSIVE and SO GOOD! I honestly have yet to find anything in Reno that compares to this one. I would order it again in a heartbeat. And whatever you do, SAVE ROOM FOR DESSERT! We got the churro beignets, and they were fantastic. Covered in cinnamon sugar and drizzled with caramel and condensed milk... seriously, what more do you need? They were the perfect way to finish the meal. Muertos Cantina ended up being such a great first stop on our Utah trip. Fun atmosphere, really good food, huge portions and so many different flavors. Again the atmosphere set the entire vibe for our meal. Yelp came through for me again!

The food is still very good here and some of my previous gripes are no longer an issue. I can now order tacos and burritos à la carte again. While there is still no way to go pick whatever salsa I want and the options are still more limited than before, at least they bring out 3 of my favorites with the chips now. The drinks are still just okay , a shadow of their former selves and I will never be able to accept the loss of my beloved watermelon margarita, the way they used to make it, but I will concede the drinks are decent. Service was fine. Parking is a hassle but that's just Sugarhouse. ‍ So yeah, I guess I'm back to "willing to eat here once in a while", from "I'm never eating here again". They even have a nice taco Tuesday deal which I may hit up in the near future.

Who wants a storytime? You. You do…read more A long, long time ago, there was a new restaurant along Bangerter and 5400 S. It was called Alberto's and it was a new type described to me as molcasalsa and it was great. It was always open and you got a ton of quite excellent food. I ate there for quite a while 3 or 4 times a week and was well familiar that if I got a combination plate, I would have some left over for the next day as I could never manage to finish one. This was due to all of the food you would get, lots of meat, lettuce, cheese, refrieds, rice, and usually at least a couple of giant grill-warmed tortillas. A competitor opened up not too far away, which was called Beto's and which was substandard in every way...but it was also cheaper and ushered out Alberto's, at least that one. I think there was maybe one downtown that still hung in there. This development saddened me considerably and I had to find a new haunt, but nothing could ever quite replace the glory of those early times. Anyway, years passed and I moved to a new area, relative to a place called Hector's, which was non-assuming (I drove past it repeatedly because I didn't remember it existed) and on the other side of one of the nastiest side street gutters around. The food was quite solid, more or less what I wanted from that kind of place, but my tastes had changed and I didn't make the plunge to risk ripping the undercarriage of my car out that often. Then Hector's went away. In its former place is now Beto's and, as before, I miss Hector's. Funny, that. As to the food, I got a carne asada plate, which I find is usually the safest bet for a new Mexi (to me) joint. The rice was quite good, the beans pretty dodgy, no tortillas were a part of this, at all, it was considerably more expensive than that former Alberto's platter I mentioned earlier, and the steak is again those really thin slabs that seem all the rage at this kind of place, rather than chopped into small pieces on a hot grill, so you can get all of that Maillard effect goodness. This downgraded experience is endemic in restaurants generally and it should be neither what we want nor tolerate. I get it, they're out in those mean streets just trying to survive, but if we want to have the nice stuff again and keep it around, conditions need to exist to allow that...which means slaying the various corporate and currently highly monopolistic dragons.

At the drive up window I asked to buy the extras but either I was ignored or they forgot. None of that would bother me if it was busy but I was literally the only person in line.
