I've heard great things about Stella, and it's one of the few non-chain options in this neck of the woods. The food was ... all right. My friend and I both ordered burgers, and the house-made potato chips on the side were fresh and tasty enough. Maybe I need to try something more complex than a burger to be impressed, but. As a self-proclaimed burger aficionado, a well-prepared burger gets my attention every time. I do like that they carry local brews on tap. The building/ambiance is nice enough, and our server was friendly and attentive. However, it just didn't wow me to the point that I'll go back anytime soon, versus other places around town that immediately spring to mind when I'm thinking of dining out. I'm giving Stella three stars, when in reality I think it's more of a 3.5 star experience. But compared to the other places I've given four stars to, Stella doesn't quite stack up. read more

Stella provided me with some pretty good Beer-Battered Fish Tacos. I have only one small complaint that made my meal less-enjoyable: the side of beans leaked into my tacos by the time my food came out. This made the corn tortillas and the fried fish soggy... which made the delicious taste of the batter on the fish not good. I ended up picking my tacos apart until I found some fish that wasn't soaked in bean juice and eating them alone! I can only image how yummy it would be with the rest of the taco in it's normal state! As a side note, the chips that come with the plate are weirdly addicting! I think it's the thickness of the chips mixed with the amount of salt that makes them so good. I couldn't stop eating them. The atmosphere is nice and refreshing. It feels like a cafe but bigger. I'm pretty sure they had a bar there as well. That gives them more points in my book. read more

Located in Millcreek, this place is a cute and casual American diner. The staff here is extremely kind and the service is always great. The food comes out fairly fast and it's not pricy at all. They have French onion soup which is delicious and they have a full bar. The appetizers are generous so be sure to share and I always leave with leftovers. The steak is something my friend orders each time we come here and it's not like Spencer's downtown or the same quality as a high end restaurant but it is good for the price you pay. The ambiance is casual and loud so I don't see many kids when I dine here but this is a place I'd go to if I needed a quick lunch with a client before heading back to work and they were wanting American cuisine. My salmon was 16 bucks and it was cooked perfectly. It's very easy to overlook seafood but I like the way they prepared it here. If you like Brussels sprouts then order this dish. Brussels sprouts galore and I love them! Steak- my friend ordered his steak medium and it came out perfectly fine. The sauce that comes with the steak and red bell peppers is delicious. They pretty much give you a huge fried onion ring on top so that's delicious too. Chips and salsa- they don't give you much salsa and guac the first time around but you can always ask for a refill and they didn't charge us so I'm assuming extra GUAC and salsa is free. I would assume so because the pretty much give you the entire bag of chips so it's likely you'll run out of sauces before anything else. Is this a place I'd take an expensive client or a first date? No. Is this a place I'd take a friend or colleague to for a quick lunch? Yes. read more

This is our go to yummy, healthy, hearty, fresh dinner and lunch place. Service is impeccable and if you come back again they remeber you. Kendra, Sarah and JC have become friends. The sangriatini is always my drink order and they start making it the minute that see me. Highly recommend if your new ...you WILL be back. My favorite dishes are the plank salmon. The steak salad. Oh, hello pretty little Stella. I can't describe, exactly, what it is that really charmed me so much about Stella. I've been here a few times to visit, but been wanting to come back for a full dinner. With a friend visiting in town from the East Coast, I figured a trip to an American joint with a little Southwest flair was in order. One thing I do know for sure--I really love this building. A little Southwest feel to it, but still modern and nice. Not so much "cozy," but more like a hint of trendy among a really laid back neighborhood feel. Clear as mud? The big wooden garage doors, the galvanized and corrugated steel accents along the fence and in the planters on the patio, and the brushed aluminum garbage cans in the restroom. They all speak to the sensibilities of neighborhood dining a step above. And while we're talking about the patio, I should mention that it's perfect on summer nights. Surrounded by well maintained annual flowers in planters, there's ample seating with bright chairs and shade as the evening glides on. Grab a seat here if it's warm enough and enjoy. The vibe inside has a beat to it. The staff is friendly and not fancy, but tonight they stayed out of the way enough to let us catch up with an old pal. They're efficient and courteous. On previous visits during quieter hours I've had a good chat with them and they even remembered serving my brother. How's that for a long shot? Now, the food. The menu is full of sandwiches, salads, a few Mexican items, and a seasonal group of entrees. Sandwiches set you back $9 or so and come with a choice of fruit, salad, or pasta salad. They're generously portioned with some chips as well and should fill up a good eater. I felt like they really nailed the price/portion ratio, so a big thumbs up there. Entrees go for $18 or more. I didn't get to try one, and most of the folks around me were also on the sandwich or salad mode. I had the Santa Fe chicken sandwich, which I imagined would be right in their wheelhouse. Chicken, poblano pepper, pepper jack, sweet onions and a chipotle mayo. I have to say that the flavors were really nice, I just wish they had been stronger. I wanted a little punch from the mayo, a nice grill flavor from the chicken, and a sass or two from the pepper jack or poblano. It didn't really have that grab to it, but I still packed it all away and can't complain. I opted for pasta salad (having tried another house-made pasta salad at their sister restaurant Desert Edge) and really liked it. Be sure to mix it all together before you eat it--that's the secret. I also saw the open faced hanger steak sandwich which was reported to be pretty delicious. It did look pretty darn inviting and would be a solid choice, as was the Italian dip sando. They have a nice little drink list and serve Desert Edge Brewery beers as well as wines and a few specialty cocktails. I'm thrilled that Stella is here in this part of town. It really stands apart from anything around it and is a great place to gather with friends (though a little loud) for a good time. read more

We've had some great meals at Stella that felt creative and gourmet and fancy, and some so-so meals. This last visit in mid-June was a good experience but we weren't blown away by our food and were seated near the kitchen so it didn't feel as glamorous. I ordered the Open Face Hanger Steak Sandwich (crimini mushrooms, blue cheese, basil mayo, demi glace on baguette) with a side salad, and it arrived looking a bit underwhelming - the side salad was maybe 1/4 cup of lettuce and some squishy tomatoes and then the rest of the plate above the sandwich was filled with basic potato chips (not listed on the menu). I would've preferred a larger salad, or at least the option to specify. The sandwich was also very much on the small side - the "open-face" was one piece of, yes, thinly-sliced baguette Husband got the Grilled Asian Chicken salad (Mixed greens, snow peas, baby corn, peanuts, cilantro, cukes, peanut vinaigrette) which was pretty but not super impressive. In the past he's ordered the salmon salad (greens, golden beets, white bean salad, feta, pepitas, capers, cumin citronetts) and it was amazing and fresh and delicious, so would be interested to see if it's still as good. I'd love to come back to Stella if it would be more on par with our previous visits. Not sure what's changed about it but we would love to be wowed by it again. read more

The crab cakes with the chipotle mayo and jalapeños appetizer were amazing. However, pricey at $10.50 for only 2 cakes. The Asian hanger and regular hangar steak sandwiches were also amazing. Tender with great flavor on both. Now for the bad ... the French onion soup. Has to be one of the worst soups I ever had. It's an optional $1.50 more with a meal, and I don't know why. I couldn't even finish it was so bad. Bitter taste with absolutely no flavor. Bland as can be; it was like drinking hot water with onions. I couldn't see paying $1.50 more for it, so I did complain, and they took it off the bill. Nice patio, good service. read more

Aw. It's a bummer I have to write this. Honestly from the minute we entered it was an awful experience. The service was not great and the food was in a word, terrible. The grilled Turkey sandwich was a bunch of what tasted like lunch meat on sliced bread from the grocery store. The salad it came with had the worst dressing ever. The cranberry dipping sauce for the sandwich was also flavorless and gross. :( my fiancé got a sandwich and pasta salad that came with lays potato chips ... that was again flavorless and at this moment he feels sick from eating it. Lack luster worse than cafeteria food that shouldn't cost ya $30 for a couple sandwiches. The vibe is also not great there too and it smelled like a kitchen sink from the dining room. The first time we ate here a few months ago, it was delicious enough to go back with our adult children. This time around, we wondered why we thought it was so good. The pomegranate couscous the first time was delicious so we ordered it again as a side. This time there were no pomegranates in it, just diced up red grapes. On the way home, my husband asked me how my French onion soup was and I didn't even really remember eating it. It wasn't bad memorable or good memorable so concerning food, that's not really a good thing. They use a lot of cumin spice in a lot of their dishes which was a bit over-powering. This has been our go-to neighborhood dinner spot since we moved into the general area 7 years ago. The staff is very personable. We have never once had a bad meal or bad experience. The menu is not very extensive, but everything is fresh and tasty, nothing tastes like it came from a restaurant supply company. While some might prefer a more extensive menu, the benefit is that they prepare everything on the menu extremely well. Outdoor dining is nice when weather permits. Covid protocols are excellent. It's got a great neighborhood eatery vibe and we enjoy popping in 3-4 times a month. We often bring friends visiting from out of town to Stella's too. read more

Great atmosphere, great staff, and had a great french onion soup. I ordered the salad special and I absolutely did not enjoy it. It was listed as a Greek salad, which I love!! Unfortunately I absolute hated the salad. The salad had big chunks of pickles in it.... I've never heard of pickles in a salad, let alone a Greek salad. I called a buddy of mine who owns a Greek restaurant and asked him about those pickles and he was laughing as he has never heard of it before. A fun a good attempt on a different salad, but a big miss with this one. This was my first time to this restaurant and I feel like I could give it another try. We will see. read more

Almost did not stop here because so many mixed reviews but so glad we came. We tried a little of everything and it was so flavorful. I ordered the meatball sandwhich which is something I would not usually order but the waitress recommended. Wow, wow, wow! It had fresh grilled pepper and a patty that tastes like a great Italian meatball- perfectly balanced. My daughter got the Mexican burger and again spot on. The food is always good. I like that they have a cool variety that's a little left of center, so to speak. And if I'm being honest, one of my most favorite meals of all time is served here: rare roast beef sandwich with a bowl of French onion soup. I may actually drive down there right now to get some! Also, the reason it's getting five stars instead of four is because the service is always so great. Truly some of the friendliest staff around. I often eat here for lunch to catch up with friends and I never feel rushed, my drink is always full and the staff is just generally friendly. Love it! read more

When Stella is good it is very good, when it is bad it is very bad. Sadly it varies from visit to visit. Last night it was bad. The enchiladas were cold in the center, and the chicken on the Southwest Chicken salad was awful. It looked like pre-sliced chicken pieces out of a frozen bag. It must have been heated in a microwave because the texture was somewhere between kitchen sponge and volleyball. Sad because the staff and the atmosphere is great, beer was cold and tasty. Stella is a great place to grab a drink and small plates with a friend. The dining area is pretty significant. There are booths if you're meeting up with friends, quite dining in the back for a date, or a nice bar area if you want to stop in for a drink. I recommend the Korean Tacos and Crispy Duck Rolls. The Korean Tacos are flavorful and cooked to perfection. You can't go wrong pairing these with a glass of wine. read more

This place is right by my house and I can honestly say it never gets old! The food sooo good and locally sourced. The atmosphere is casual, but not like a chain restaurant. We live nearby so thought we would come and try out Stella Grill finally. On a lovely spring evening we walked in and got a table immediately. They were busy but not terribly so. After a time of deciding what to order, the waiter took our order and we received our drinks promptly. I had a pepperoncini-tini, which was good (salty and spicy), and my gal had a pomegranate mojito. She'd ordered fajitas and I ordered the mexi burger. Hers didn't come out sizzling, but it smelled and looked delicious. She said it was good. My mexi burger had chipotle mayo and pepperjack cheese. It was very good, and cooked the way I like it: Well-done dead & black. The service we received was stella-r (ha) too. So, overall I'd say 5 stars, and we will be back for more at some point. read more

Ok Stella Grill is fanastic. I am shocked and ashamed that it too me so long to find it. It embodies what I think of as food centric dining. The place is nice but casual, the wait staff seems happy to be working there and the food is phenomenal. Every time I go I have to try something new because they have so many unexpected and delicious sounding options. I was even pleased with the one item I ordered and did not like. It was a Cajun cornbread pudding that did not work for me. Even though I did not like it, It was well thought out and executed and I am sure other people loved it. So I applaud Stella for putting out-of-the-ordinary items on their menu and I will be back to try any other dishes the chef at Stella can concoct! read more

Holy Crap! This place is awesome!! They have a smokin' menu...and a full bar! Our waitress could NOT have been nicer!! We ordered the French Onion Soup, Bacon Wrapped Jalapeno Shrimp, a Hot Italian Burger, a fruit plate, dessert, and lots of drinks! One of the drinks we selected was a Peppermint Martini - so delicious! Our waitress went the extra mile, and asked the bartender for the recipe so we could make it at home. This is a kind of difficult review to write. We visited Stella over Labor Day, and had a meal that was on the whole good, but not amazing. That could be because it was a holiday, and I'd like to try them again soon to get a better feel for what a standard night is like. Stella is an upscale soup, salad, and sandwich place with some pastas on the menu. If you aren't teetotal, they also looked to have a pretty nice beer and wine selection (well, for Utah). Everything on the menu looked good and it was hard to choose. I had their famous French onion soup. It had a nice crown of toasty cheese that was delicious. I was bummed when the soup itself was a bit too sour and all I could really taste was wine. The onion flavor was just MIA. Overall it was okay, but not fantastic. The prime rib sandwich was the special of the day, and it had a generous heap of meat, but it tasted "left over," the way a steak tastes the next day, after sitting in the fridge overnight. That was another disappointing selection. However, the shrimp and pancetta pasta was reported to be amazing--five stars! And the Asian chicken salad was a winner. We also had a Reuben sandwich and the sauerkraut tasted homemade, which is a nice touch. The restaurant itself is a beautiful space--modern, clean, and fun and the service was attentive and helpful. Also, I love that they have landscaped with native, low-water plants. It's attractive and cool. I really wish I could do half stars because our visit really falls between 3 and 4 stars. The menu is definately "off the beaten path." They have lamb tacos, succotash, and salmon salads whch is a nice change from typical Americana Grill fare. The atmosphere was dimly lit. It would be good for a quiet dinner for 2 or a small group. Larger groups might feel squeezed together. Kids might not enjoy the menu. The server was nice and attentive. It would appear I'm not a fan of lamb shank but I've never had lamb so I'm not docking them points for that. The rest of the fixins' were great. Also, they serve a tasty local brewery, Desert Edge. After numerous visits, I've come to appreciate Stella Grill for what it is; a casual and simplistic place to enjoy a decent meal. While I've never had an exceptional dish at Stella, I've had plenty of enjoyable ones that continue to satisfy me, particularly because they not only look, but taste fresh. To accompany the simplistic food, the restaurant's atmosphere is laid back and unpretentious. Not a lot of decor, and the color scheme is muted and earthy. This works nicely with the overall "neighborhood grill" image that Stella permeates. Stella is one of those places you can drop in, and usually get seated in a reasonable amount of time. I personally prefer the indoor seating, but they have a patio available which is usually at full capacity during the warmer months. I've sampled many a dish from Stella as both a meat eater and a vegetarian and have been satisfied with nearly everything I've eaten. They have a relatively short menu, with a decent variety ranging from char boiled sandwiches to salads, soups, dinner entrée's and mexican dishes. My personal favorites are the Portobello Sandwich, Salmon Salad and the Mexi Burger. The French Onion soup is also a nice little additive if you're feeling especially hungry. Stella is a great place to relax and have a good meal. Dining at Stella is great, if you keep your expectations reasonable, and understand that while it's not an exceptional foodie experience, it is a pretty decent one. read more

Have to give this place 5 stars. For a few different reasons : A Unique and homeade menu! This place changes up their menu based on the seasons. That alone is worth 3*s in my opinion. I had bacon wrapped shrimp as an app with very small slices of green pepper in the bacon. A dish that I am going to make at home. My chicken sandwhich was a concoction made up in the kitchen at one point, it had to be. It had a very unique bbq flavor. This was not your average sandwhich. I appreciate things that take a chance and go down a different path. Great wine and beer selection. A very comfortable atmosphere and you have Stella. Great effort. read more
