Wow, what an evening! Started off with the biscuits and ceviche - the biscuits are so soft and flaky, and the ceviche was rich and fresh. Really nice compliment to each other with the freshness of ceviche and savoriness from biscuits. I had the spicy shrimp pasta and it was very good. I'm typically a "medium" spice level and this was perfect for me. Of note, they don't have gluten free noodles so if you have an allergy, might be best to choose another dish.... Which the Braised Wagyu and Chicken dishes were off the charts!! My boyfriend's Wagyu plate was clean when he was done eating (HA) We didn't get dessert, but the table next to us ordered a key lime pie slice and it almost made us reconsider (but we were too full). Looking forward to coming back for Brunch!

I wanted to start my day with some good food, so I headed to Stella San Jac, located on the first floor of the Westin Hotel and directly connected to the hotel lobby. The restaurant has a modern, sleek atmosphere with an inviting, open layout. I was warmly welcomed by the host and promptly shown to a table. Having already done some research on Yelp, I quickly decided on my order: the avocado toast and a berry smoothie called Rejuvenate, which was listed at the top of the breakfast menu. My breakfast arrived shortly after. The smoothie was served in a glass--smaller than I expected--and while it tasted fresh, it was a bit too thick for my liking. It was okay, but not particularly memorable. The avocado toast, on the other hand, exceeded expectations. Beautifully plated, it featured thick-cut artisan bread generously topped with smashed avocado, heirloom cherry tomatoes, pickled onions, microgreens, and a perfectly poached egg. The flavors were well-balanced, and the textures--from the creamy avocado to the crisp toast--were spot on. It was clear the ingredients were fresh and thoughtfully selected. Overall, my morning at Stella San Jac was a pleasant experience: friendly staff, quality food, and an elegant setting made for a great start to the day.

This was our first stop when in Austin. We had an early flight and were super hungry. After looking on Yelp and Tik Tok we settled on going to Stella San Jac. So glad we did. The servers all had on these crazy shirts and we were served by The Sheriff! He was amazing. His recommendations were on point. I don't normally do chicken fried steak but he said it was his favorite. Glad I trusted him. It was delicious. The gravy alone was a star. The chicken and waffles were perfection! Seasoned well and a little spicy with the sweet syrup worked well. The eggs were a little soft for me but thats really just preference. Mimosas to wash it down and we were happy. They are connected to a hotel so it was great to people watch and meet others. This is a must stop in Austin!

It was a great spot for brunch! We ordered a carafe of mimosas, which came with champagne and a mix of passion fruit juice and orange juice. They also offer other juice options, which was a nice touch. I also had the Energize juice (carrot, orange, and ginger), which was super fresh and refreshing. For food, we started with the biscuits for the table, which were the perfect mix of sweet and savory. For my main, I had the short rib grilled cheese on a Hawaiian roll with smoked cheddar, caramelized onions, and jus, served with fries. The fries were a bit on the salty side, but everything else was absolutely delicious. We also had the pecan praising French toast which I liked as well. Then the grapefruit curd parfait with granola and fruits for the baby. The service didn't particularly stand out, but the overall experience was still great. One thing I really appreciated was the discounted valet for $10, which made parking super convenient. It's also a kid-friendly restaurant, with crayons and coloring sheets to keep little ones entertained. Overall, I'd definitely come back. The food and drinks were fantastic, and the atmosphere was relaxed and welcoming. Highly recommend!

Food was Ok. Nothing special or memorable but it was a meal. I had the short rib grilled cheese and it was dry and lacked cheese. The others meals were also ok, but not a show stopper. Service was SLOWWWW. Had to ask for our waitress twice as we sat for some time(after receiving boxes) before getting our checks. They didn't split checks so if you go with a group be aware.

When disappointment oozes from one's taste bites it looks like the pictures I'm attaching. I was excited to try Stella San Jac, reading reviews online I saw 4.9 stars! Can't go wrong, I thought. Well I was wrong! I ordered the lemon butter pancakes, and a smoothie. Well they didn't have the smoothie, I learned that when I arrived to pick up my order. I'll say this the Bartender and the gentleman that greeted me at the restaurant made we feel welcome. So that my friends is positive. And the restaurant was a nice looking place BUT those dam* pancakes disappointed me greatly. I think I might re-visit but will not order the pancakes, and I have to admit my first bite was good but as I went through the stack of pancakes they just got more brown and crisper, so yes chef hid his mediocre work and boxed it up and I was the victim. Not good, not good at all. That would usually cause me to never go back to a place but I have a feeling they may be better at lunch and dinner after all most people give these place 4 stars. Makes me say hmm, and wonder. So we'll see if I'm back. Now I have to go get Starbucks...

I wanted to pass along a heads up on a bartender who is stealing from the company by overcharging guests. I stayed at the Westin Hotel in Downtown Austin for a week mid November. My wife and l stopped in for 2 drinks each. She went with a cocktail and a glass of prisoner. l went with a basil hayden old fashioned & an angel's envy old fashioned. When l received the tab, I noticed I was charged $32 for the Angel's Envy old fashioned. The bartender's name on the receipt read Bishop. He has a man bun and he's inked up on his arm. I asked, $32 for Angel's envy huh? He looked at me funny and said, "Sorry, I don't set the prices." I looked at him back and let him know that seems high. He looked concerned like I had caught onto something and went over to the PoS System and printed out a 2nd receipt and said, there you go, I charged you $20 for it, the price of the Basil Hayden. I hit Stella San Jac a time or 2 throughout the week I stayed with the intent of getting a bartender to price check. I got my way mid-week and asked a bartender to price check on the couple old rounds I had. I was informed both are $20 a piece. This meant the obvious - Bishop set the price in the system manually before printing out the receipt, and when greeted with skepticism, folded and printed it out as it was programmed into the system. I get the guy's just a bartender, and most guests/clientele staying at the Westin have the money for it, but it's a dishonest, very low integrity move. He's using the location to overcharge guests who are already paying a premium to stay downtown, paying $50 extra a night for parking, and know they're going to be paying a couple bucks extra on drinks with Stella San Jac being conveniently located in the Hotel guests are staying at. White Lodging should look more into their staff's background, work ethic, and hire honest folks. The bar (no pun intended) is set low on who they hire. I question how many other staff members were pulling the same play on guests and shorting the company. It's all around piss poor reflection on the company and the people working here need to set aside the friendships they're forming at work that's enabling them to ultimately screw over the guests that are drinking here.

Had lunch here and it was great! Started out with bloody Mary with the perfect amount of spice. Our group had some apps and entrees. Favorite app was the burrata bruschetta. Crisp bread, creamy burrata and fresh tomatoes. I had s fried avocado salad, which was fresh and flavorful. Our server, Yndira, was sweet and very helpful in making food choices. She was perfectly attentive to our needs. Would come back if ever in the area! Tip: don't forget to check in for free biscuits!! Amazing, with honey butter and jam!

I met a friend here for dinner prior to a show at Antone's, which is conveniently just across the street! We enjoyed the Austin Restaurant Week cocktail. I made a res but it was pretty open in the dining area for a Friday night. I'm glad we sat in the dining area because the bar area was very loud. We had good service and enjoyed our apps. I'd like to go back again to try more items on the menu!

I crave their #16 biscuits all the time. That honey butter is just too good. Make a res and go for brunch! I recommend the deviled eggs, biscuits, fried avo salad, short rib grilled cheese and get a cocktail or two. They'll make you anything if you want something off the menu. The grilled cheese would be perfect for that hangover! The smoked salmon benny was ok - think the Hollandaise wasn't my favorite. The chicken and waffles would be better if they used thighs. The waffle was good! Overall, banger spot. Super busy on the weekends so make a res or go later.

Checked out this new spot in the Westin Hotel for the first time last night. They are totally deserving of my 5 star review. The staff was welcoming and attentive. They are calling it Austin American cuisine. Every dish was delicious. I really enjoyed my escarole and parmigiana salad ( their take on a Cesar ). For my main course I went for the Berkshire Pork Chop. I requested it medium temperature and it came out perfect and tasted amazing. We shared the peaches and cream for desert and it was spot on. This place is a grade above the other new hotel restaurants and I would highly recommend it to anyone. read more

We enjoyed out first visit to Stella San Jac, entering off the lobby of The Westin after meeting the Executive Chef who was mingling with customers and discussing the restaurant, it's decor, and the foods on offer. We were seated at an excellent table despite our arrival without reservations on a Wednesday night at 7:00 PM. Waitstaff was welcoming, attentive and helpful with food selection. We enjoyed a chilled, white French wine. The honey butter biscuits were the best we have ever had. The grilled sprouts were tasty. We shared a fried avocado salad which was inventive and derived, for us, some new vegetable combinations and flavors. We also shared two main dishes; the grilled redfish on a bed of quinoa and the shrimp and crab roll with home made chips. Sorry, no room for dessert. Meal came to $86 including wine and tax. We left a nice tip. After dinner, the Westin front desk arranged for us to visit the rooftop bar on the twentieth floor and enjoy a spectacular night view of Austin. We were told the rooftop is open to locals from Monday through Thursday. We also learned a little about the decor of the Westin lobby and of Stella San Jac. A Modern art and architectural interpretation of Waylon Jennings' guitar and guitar strap blends into the walls, ceilings, and more. Had a great time at Stella and at The Westin. I fell in love with the cheese plate, ambiance, and service here. The cheese plate was delicious. Brussels sprouts so-so, too vinegary. The bone marrow was also OK, it would have been better without so much butter with the bread so one could taste the marrow. Our waiter was super sweet and attentive and kept refilling water for us.. Probably every 5 minutes! He was also funny and made some great recommendations. The staff generally is also very hospitable and accommodated us when we asked about wi-fi and outlets because we wanted to get some work done. Would definitely come back! What an amazing experience! Chef Jeremy made my visit to Austin one of a kind. The food was so scrumptious and so unique. We have eaten at many places downtown Austin but none left the lasting impression that the Stella did. Their bar had a wonderful array of mixology drinks. I had a champagne muddled Raspberry, chambord spritzer to die for! I will definitely be coming back and bringing my friends. Thank you Stella for such a great night. read more

This place was awesome! Ate there for brunch a couple of weeks ago and you absolutely cannot go wrong with one of their smoothies (I had the berry), and one of their delicious brunch items (I had the country fried steak, but our entire table of 8 had different items and no one had a negative word to say!). Ate here a few times during a visit this week and enjoyed it a lot. Very pleasant vibe, good wait staff who gave good service without hovering, creative food choices. Is it worth the premium -- for example for chorizo tacos that are tasty but not hugely better than a local food truck? Depends on your wallet and preference. I would do it again. Note that the acai and pomegranate juice is delicious BUT main taste is beet. read more

I had high hopes for this spot but I really don't understand why it has good marks. I had the fried avocado salad, the chicken was dry and no flavor, the dressing was overly heavy and it just wasn't interesting. You have too many good options to eat here. read more

The place was nice and clean, however the food was not good. I had the Salmon Eggs Benedict. The salmon had turned. It smelled horrible and I couldn't even cut through the English Muffin. It was as hard as concrete - I finally picked it up and tried to bite through it. Had to leave hungry. Won't go back. Too bad because the menu looks good but the food was bad. We walked in without reservation on a Friday night around 730 PM and were able to find a high top table in the bar area without waiting. Our server, Lauren, was friendly and attentive and had great recommendations for dishes as well as what else to do in the area. We ordered the biscuits, deviled eggs, lamb meatballs & cheese plate - all were devine! It was the perfect amount of food for 3 people looking for a substantial snack. Drinks were delicious as well as the atmosphere and even the music selection. We switched tables half way through our meal because we got chilly sitting by the window but otherwise great experience! read more

Arrived and enquired about a table for our family of 4, noting that about 50% of the tables were open. We were told that without a reservation it would be a 30-40 minute wait. There was no acknowledgment of the fact that 3 year olds don't wait in lobbies for 40 minutes. Perhaps understaffed or just unwelcoming to families, but I suggest making a reservation. read more

Could not be more impressed with this place! The cocktails are so unique and so delicious. The staff was so great and welcoming as soon as I walked in the door. It was hard to decide what to eat because everything on the menu sounded so good. I got the chicken and you should too! Presentation and taste were above my expectations!! If you go here during the day, the Westin has a rooftop bar (Azul) with amazing views. It's a little mini paradise above Austin. read more

Just had dinner here and it was a such a great experience that we will go back for lunch tomorrow! The fried avocado salad is a must. We also had the brussels sprouts with bacon, the burger and quinoa/zucchini dishes. All delish. I'd highly recommend the Kale and Brussels salad! Parking is $20 for 3 hours which seems high but luckily I can park down the street for free and walk. :) read more

One thing I love is that they switch up the steak portion of the menu a few times a year, and it never disappoints. The escargot and French onion soup are also favorites of mine. At this point, June's has become a staple in our house--usually with a couple of Diet Cokes and either the burger or whatever steak they're featuring. A few of my friends swear by the chicken sandwich (fair warning: it can get a little messy!), the half roasted chicken, and the tuna crudo, so you really can't go wrong no matter what you order. On top of the amazing food, the staff is always incredibly kind and welcoming, which keeps us coming back. When I got there, four of the eight tables were empty but the dirty dishes had not yet been cleared. It took close to 10 minutes for the tables to be bused. Because the kitchen is so small, I'd recommend going up to the counter to order as soon as you get there. I believe you can also place your order online using the QR code on the table, but I didn't try that method. I ordered the lox n found, a toasted croissant roll with smoked salmon, avocado, dill ricotta, arugula, onion, and capers. The menu says it also comes with a side of roasted potatoes, but mine didn't come with that. The sandwich was delicious and filling, so I definitely didn't need them, but I do feel like I didn't get what I paid for.

Late post Earlier today around 10:30am-11:00am my girlfriends and I were having a get together and had all wanted to try something new. Being new to the Austin area we went to Yelp to help us out in finding the perfect dining experience and it took us almost directly to Stella San Jac. Curious as to the food descriptions and the restaurant being located right in the lobby of the Westin hotel, my girlfriends and I decided to give it a go. Upon arrival we were greeted by the sweetest host whom I don't remember giving us her name but she was wonderful. She sat us in a window seat closest to the open kitchen (our preference.) About one minute later our waitress Jennifer approached the table already having in hand water, orange juice, and coffee (with cream) we were well impressed due to the fact all three of us wanted all three of those options, it was very convenient. Jennifer then began to describe various items on the list such as made in house smoothies, "superfoods" I believe is what Jennifer called them, ECT... We had no idea as to what we wanted so we asked for a few minutes to look over it ourselves. What we thought would be a 10 minute look over turned out to be a 30 minute ordeal between us girls! Everything sounded so good we literally could not decide on what to order. Jennifer came back numerous times refilling our drinks and checking on us in the mean time . This is where our dining experience got interestingly fun. Jennifer then came back to the table asking if we had come to an agreement on what to order, we hadn't. She asked if we trusted her, we all laughed OF COURSE! She then asked us individually what we were in the mood for, how hungry we were, ECT... Then she asked if we would be up for trying something new and letting her order for us. She was extremely confident she knew what we would like individually. FUN! She stared us with the most amazing biscuits with honey butter which are to die for. When our meals arrived we were in AWE! The plates themselves were beautifully arranged and smelled so good. Although I cannot remember the names of the dishes we had, Jennifer knew exactly what we wanted! As if she were a mind reader. At the end of our meal she offered coffee to go, which was lovely and boxed up the remaining food for us. All three of us ladies are writing this review as one and would just like to say that Stella San Jac/the Westin hotel, you have a gem! Jennifer is so much fun to be waited on by. I literally would have never known this place existed if my friend hadn't suggested we go here. This visit requires two reviews. Tonight, I went and got drinks at Stella San Jac with my best friend. It was so busy! We were greeted promptly by Jayden, and she took our drink order. She was so nice! She asked what we were doing in Austin, and she seemed truly interested in my weekend getaway. I have NEVER had someone so polite and caring as a server before. Our drinks however took SO long. I have no idea what the people at the bar were going. It was about 10 minutes for the first round, and the second I timed and it took 30 minutes! But Jayden was there the whole time making sure we had everything we needed (other than our drinks, but I know that wasn't her fault.) My second review is about the manager. He went around to the tables asking if we had drink orders, and he seemed extremely surprised to hear that "yes. we placed drink orders about 15 minutes ago, and the servers keep checking on us." Not once did I see him go to the bar and see what was going on. I did see him pull the servers aside (discreetly) and talk to them, so I am pretty sure he knew that the bar was at fault. And then I saw him making out with a girl as we were leaving. It was extremely unprofessional. After talking to my friend afterwards (she goes there for drinks about once a month), the manager on staff tonight is extremely rude to the servers. My wife and I were referred here by close friends and let me just start by saying WOW! When my wife and I walked through the door immediately we had a sense of welcome, everyone was so friendly. We were seated promptly after arrival right beside the kitchen so we got to watch all of the action. SECONDS later our to die for waitress Jennifer showed up to take our drink order and gave us a "tour" of the menu. We were well impressed by the knowledge she had in regards to the menu. As frequent "restaurant go-ers" of course we asked extensive questions as to what ingredients were used to create each meal and Jennifer was able to describe each dish with ease. Jennifer then returned with our drinks as we were ready to order our lunch. My wife ordered the Pan Seared Chicken and I ordered the Stella Burger both of which we were both impressed by. The quality of the food was outstanding! While enjoying our lunch Jennifer made sure our drinks were filled at all times which is a rare occurrence at most restaurants. When finished, she cleared our plates and asked about dessert. Unfortunately my wife and I were too full to continue with dessert but we did look over the dessert menu. Next time we will most definitely be trying a dessert. In conclusion to this outstanding review, we would like to add that for the rest of our dining experiences at Stella San Jac we will be requesting Jennifer by name to take care of us. I typically steer clear of hotel restaurants, but fatigue from wandering the streets in search of a satisfying dessert led us to Stella. We were also staying at the Westin, where the restaurant is located, so why not. The peanut butter pie came highly recommended, so we decided to give it a try. Our server was exceptional--so persuasive that I regretted we weren't there for a full meal, especially with how he talked up the brunch menu. His recommendation of the pie felt like instant validation. The pie itself was quite impressive. It featured a unique crust made from pretzels and chocolate, a charming concept though somewhat challenging to cut through. Nevertheless, we managed to devour every last piece. Just a few hours later, after our godmother joined us, we returned. She opted for the steak and mash, and we also tried some biscuits and cauliflower. While the biscuits are a specialty, they didn't quite leave us longing for more, though they were decent. The cauliflower, on the other hand, was flavorful and quite enjoyable. Stella is undoubtedly a charming spot with a promising menu. Although I missed out on brunch this time, the menu alone would make me consider returning. read more

As I am just now leaving the Westin hotel to catch a flight back home, I would just like to thank everyone for my wonderful stay at this beautiful new hotel. Everything was fantastic. About an hour ago I sat down to eat breakfast at the restaurant for the first time, now getting onto yelp and reading the reviews I can see why five stars are necessary. And also from reading the yelp reviews I can see why Miss Jennifer has such extensive reviews. I was lucky enough to sit in her section (luck of the draw). I asked what her favorite breakfast dish was and as she described it I was sold. She was polite, informative, fast, and understanding I was in somewhat of a rush. To wrap this review up, thank you for my comfortable stay; I will be returning soon enough. I am somewhat upset at myself for not trying out the restaurant sooner but now I know for next time. Thank you Jennifer, I hope this review helps you climb to the top of the success ladder; you deserve it! read more

The biscuits were extremely delicious! They had chunky pieces of salt on top that gave it a little kick. Biscuits were served with a sweet butter that really complimented them. The Summer Year Round drink was so refreshing, especially since it was hot outside. I would highly recommend the short rib grilled cheese with bacon added. The au just what thicker which made it so much easier to eat. The only negative to say is that the service was a little slow. The restaurant wasn't very busy but it took 20 minutes to get our drinks and they forgot a glass of wine. Then when our meal came they had everyone's food except for a salad and then it took another 5-7minutes to get that. Overall experience was so good. The waiter was very pleasant. The decor and ambience of Stella San Jac is beautiful, with the service by the young lady that coordinated the seating and even took our pictures in the lobby was excellent. I had the Texas red fish on a bed of Quinoa Tabbouleh served on a large deep plate. My excitement fell short after a bite of the fish, it fell short of any seasoning and a tad cold. The Tabbouleh gave the dish a little zing but didn't satisfy the blandness of the fish. A bit disappointed for being one of the signature dishes. My friend had a blast with the Lobster Mac, which I agree was a good dish. A few orders of brussel sprouts and biscuits were much needed after the fish. I will give it another go and try some other menu items to see if it was just a fluke. read more

Disappointing BLT Salad This was the most underwhelming salad I've ever had. First off, where was the bacon? I could count the pieces on one hand--if you're going to call it a BLT salad, bacon should be the star of the show. There was no blue cheese in sight, just a bland pile of lettuce with a few sad tomato chunks thrown in for good measure. To top it off, the crispy onions were completely absent. It's baffling that anyone thought this was okay to serve. This wasn't a BLT salad; it was an overpriced bowl of disappointment. I almost forgot about my fish tank water. My glass stunk to high heaven. The entire table smelled it and most gagged. read more

Upon entering we were sweetly greeted by Vendella who assisted us on picking our perfect spot in the restaurant. From there we were served by Nick who was very knowledgeable about the menu and guided us on the perfect meal choices! We got the Avacado Salad and Prime Strip Steak that was perfectly cooked and had an amazing taste that melted in my mouth!! Finally, even the busser Abraham introduced himself and kept our glasses filled and our table clear of debris .... Overall, I was very pleased with this restaurant and have a new favorite spot to eat downtown!-) read more

I recently visited Stella's before its upcoming closure on June 27, and I'm so glad I got the chance to experience it one last time. I had the mashed potatoes and steak frites, both absolutely delicious! Service was warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. The ambience had a quiet charm that made the whole evening feel special. Everything about the visit was just lovely. It's truly sad to see Stella's closing. It's the kind of spot you wish could stay around forever. Thank you, Stella's, for all the memories. read more

I recently had an outstanding experience at Stella San Jac in Austin, Texas. Starving for lunch, I was thrilled by the fried avocado salad and salmon dip. The staff was incredibly accommodating, allowing me to work for hours and providing excellent service. Even after closing my tab, they continued to fill my water. The atmosphere was bright and welcoming, adorned with greenery, and the modern Southern menu showcased lovingly crafted recipes. I found a gem inside the lobby of the new Westin Hotel! Finders, keepers. Great staff, management was on it. John Mayer was bartending, he did a great Job with my cocktail. The star really though, was my burger! Simple, but delicious. Another thing I noticed was that they don't Muddle the fruit in their cocktail drinks, which is something that hipster boutique hotel bars do right? I prefer my fruit violently shaken, which has the same effect, and is less time consuming. Where's the pool?! read more

In Austin for the weekend and this place had great reviews, stopped in and the menu looked good. I ordered the country fried steak and the brussel sprouts for the table, both were DELICIOUS! The food is great but my experience with Whitley is the real reason for the 5 stars, she was such a pleasure and even wrote down cool places for us to check out. Their cocktail selection is one of the best things I like about this establishment. Next is their service, if ts possible for best service to be more best, they made it possible. It gets better and better every time you drop here. Try their brunch or their happy hour or after work schedule. Very relaxing and its a perfect place to unload your stress after a whole day's work. read more

Stella is great. I've been in many times before and after movies at the Drafthouse next door, and stopped in for happy hour. Every time, everything is wonderful, everyone is kind and accommodating. I love the vibe, and I keep hearing and seeing about these beer dinners and I cant wait to attend one! Keep up the good work y'all. read more

Was at azul today, its really cool. you have a great view of the city. the cabanas are comfy. the girls up there are way nice. the one walking around jada always made sure that my group had drinks. cool location. cool view. cool staff. and that girl will make sure you always have a drink in hand. read more
