So we just had our garage door serviced by Stellar Garage Doors. They quoted us a price to repair a bent strut of around $800 (with replacing the spring) and the final price came out to $1175 so I guess you could say I'm in sticker shock. However, upon arrival, there was an explanation of always replacing the spring that just doesn't make sense to me especially with the original spring being 5 years old. In all honesty, I should have gotten a second opinion and waited to do the repair but Stellar had installed the door about 5 years ago and I was happy with that service so I decided to go ahead and have them do this repair. I wouldn't use this company at all they were suppose to fix one thing than they recommend other things plus to put a new garage door. Something that started at $400 ended up to $1500 than they didn't even want to fix the damage paint around the garage unless we paid them another 300 to paint the door along with it. A reliable business associate referred me to Chris at Stellar. So, I gave him a call. He suggested that I buy my own opener if I wanted to save some cash. He even recommended a brand. He came out to my house the next day (on time) and completed the installation of a new Chamberlain opener that I bought from the Depot. After he finished, he cleaned up, and walked me through all of the features, taking the time to program my external access box. I contacted this company because of the positive reviews. What a mistake. First I was given the incorrect product to purchase because of my door height. When he showed up he said I needed to purchase an extension kit and that he would get right on my job as soon as I got the product in. He also tried to up sell me immediately on replacing my springs for $2500. When I finally got the right part he was unresponsive with messaging. He finally responded and said he needed to look at his schedule. He never got back to me so when I sent him another message he said he was booked out a couple weeks I think it's because my job wasn't gonna put enough money in his pocket. In my opinion he's an expert lowballer and upseller. I'll pay more money elsewhere for quality work and follow up.
