Stella's is one of those places that reminds you why dining out can feel so special. From the moment we walked in, the service was warm, personal, and genuinely welcoming. Our server offered thoughtful recommendations, and made us feel like a regular. The food is outstanding. I ordered the whole fish of the day which ended up being snapper. It was incredibly flaky and flavorful. It's also a great spot to order multiple apps (meze) to share. I tried the spanakopita and saganaki (they light it on fire at your table!) which both are must tries! The chicken souvlaki was also a delicious classic. They also start you off with amazing olive oil and bread. Definitely a spot I'll keep coming back to.

Stella's delivers the kind of ambience that makes you want to linger a little longer. Warm energy, beautiful space, and a vibe that feels both elevated and welcoming at the same time. The food was flat-out stellar. The roasted chicken deserves its own award ceremony; easily top three I've ever had, anywhere. Perfectly seasoned, juicy, and cooked with the kind of confidence you only get from a kitchen that knows exactly what it's doing. The staff matched the food step-for-step. Extremely kind, genuinely accommodating and clearly proud of the experience they're creating. It's rare to find a place firing on all cylinders like this. Stella's isn't just one of the better spots in Charleston, it's one of the best. Guaranteed repeat visit.

We got the NO 5 pasta and pastichio. The pastichio was delicious! Very filling and that spice meat is just so dang tasty. The no 5 pasta is huge. Like bigger than I expected. It was tasty but wouldn't order again as I felt the pasta to meat sauce ratio was way off and needed more sauce so I was left with a lot of unsauced pasta. Service was phenomenal and food was delicious as always!

If you like Greek food, Stella's is a MUST. I thought I had good Greek before, but Stella's proved me wrong. The food was AMAZING. The spanakopita was PERFECT & flaky My salad was HUGE!!! Definitely share size. Everything was cooked with love & to perfection. Drinks were good. We had a reservation for bar seats. The bar is pretty cool. Only thing I wish could have been different are the seats. They're fixed to the floor & the spacing is far - good for strangers, but not when it's date night. Next time we will try to get a booth/table. It was surprisingly quiet in there for a Saturday evening when we went.

Stella's is a quaint and authentic Greek restaurant located in Charleston, SC. We have also been to the location in Richmond,VA. Both locations operate with the highest standards for service and food quality. We opted to eat on the patio in August, overhead fans kept us very comfortable. Everything from the fresh bread and olive oil to entrees and dessert showed attention to detail freshness and quality. Stella's provides a true family atmosphere. We couldn't pass up the baklava! It features hickory nuts azaleas, pecans and chocolate chips. A light but decadent treat! Stella's is a must visit whenever you in Charleston SC or Richmond VA.

Amazing food, amazing service, and perfect location. Great for locals and tourists alike. Hands down some of the best food in the city. Stella's, I love you.

I grew up in Richmond and lived around the corner from where the original Stella's is located so coming here tasted like home. The space is warm and they have a quaint outdoor area as well. I loved the community table vibes too. Our server was lovely as well. We got the flaming cheese, shrimp with fava bean purée and spanakopita to start. All amazing. The fava bean purée was denser than what I'm used to in Richmond but otherwise everything was equally as delicious. For our entrees we did the arugula salad, Greek salad, sampler plate and mousakka and loved them all. Such a special place and hope they can bring Stella's Grocery to Charleston next!!

Really enjoyed dinner at Stella's. The proportions were huge and the flavors were amazing. I had the pastichiatho which was a hollow pasta that held the sauce very very well. The sauce was rich and flavorful with clove and nutmeg. Very ample portion, you can easily take half of this home for another meal. I would definitely come to this restaurant again and I would definitely order this dish again!

Hubby and I along with his brother and our sister-in-law dined at Stella's on a Saturday evening while visiting Charleston. We walked over from our hotel and were told the wait would be 1.5 hours without reservations. That didn't make any sense since no other groups were waiting on tables. We decided to hang out and see if a table opened up sooner and one did. We only waited about 20 minutes. Once seated, our server came right over and took our drink and appetizer order. She was very nice, attentive, and quite friendly. Hubby and I shared the spanakopita with tzatziki. I really liked the filling and the tzatziki but the phyllo was dry and overcooked. The flavors were there, however, the execution wasn't great. I was also left wanting more tzatziki which would have helped with the dry phyllo. For our entree, we shared the pastichio. Again, I thought the flavors were there but it was dry and overcooked. The ground beef was seasoned well and there was a nice cheesy flavor. I felt there should have been more béchamel or sauciness from the meat sauce. Overall, trendy and alluring spot, unique menu, flavorful food, and great service. The execution was just a bit off in my option. I most likely wouldn't return.

Stella's was phenomenal. The place is cute, the service was amazing and the food 10/10. As a starter we had the grilled octopus and it was soooo tender. As an entree we shared the pastichio and it was no kidding the best pasta I've ever had. The beef was seasoned so well and it smelled amazing I didn't want to stop eating. Drinks were good as well. We will be making this a regular spot for us.

This restaurant is really good, as they maximize the seating capacity. The decorations are rustic and modern. We ordered Moussaka, Yia Yia Fried Potatoes, Kotopoulo, Spanakopita and for dessert we ordered Ekmek. The meal was delicious as I decided to order out of my confort zone, since I usually order lamb. The staff recommended me a traditional Greek meal; Moussaka and I did. I was happy I did and I really loved it!! Moussaka is a classic Greek dish, a layered casserole typically featuring eggplant, potatoes, a savory meat sauce (often ground beef or lamb), and a creamy béchamel sauce topping. It's a hearty and flavorful dish, often considered a comfort food. The staff was really friendly and helpful. My wife and I really had a wonderful experience with the food and the staff. Even the other clients were friendly and social as we did had some conversations with them. Will definitely return.

And then the entrees - hubby got the shrimp and grits, that's usually my dish but I was glad he got it so I could taste. I got the fried chicken, with hoppin John over white rice, and collards. So good! And I wasn't even hungry but I had to test the "award winning" and "famous" labels on our dishes. The chicken is a huge serving - 4 pieces of juicy, tasty chicken - an entire quarter. The hoppin John was good - I just wish there were more hoppin John and less rice. Service was 5 star. Donte was a real treat and looked after us well. For dessert, I was hoping for bread pudding, but it wasn't on the menu, and everyone in the dining room was ordering the banana pudding so we got that to share. It is a large serving, enough for two. The presentation was cute, the taste was regular, and I didn't taste a hint of alcohol (it was a bourbon or some other alcohol).

The hostess told us we could sit at the bar, but said we couldn't order food or drinks, only water. A short time later, we watched other guests being served drinks. When we asked the bartender about the policy, she seemed confused and gladly took our order. That lack of communication was frustrating from the start. What really stood out was being overlooked. We watched four parties get seated before us while we sat in plain sight at the bar waiting to be called. When we finally asked about our table, the hostess asked for our name and said, "Y'all didn't hear me calling your name." We were sitting only a few steps away from the hostess stand, so it would have been very difficult to miss. After we were seated, she did apologize, but by then the experience had already gotten off to a frustrating start. The restaurant was uncomfortably hot. There was an air conditioned dining area with available seating, yet we were seated in the hot section. We were literally sweating while trying to eat. A restaurant should be a place where you can enjoy your meal, not rush through it because you're overheating. I even forgot the slice of cake I purchased because I just wanted to get outside. The cleanliness also raised concerns. The tables were sticky, the condiment containers were sticky, and my drink had debris floating in it more than once. The bartender replaced it immediately, and I appreciated that, but after seeing debris again along with the condition of the dining area, it made me question the overall cleanliness. The food was okay, but it wasn't memorable enough to make up for everything else. I expected a much better experience based on the reviews. I don't enjoy leaving negative reviews, but this experience fell far below what the reviews led me to expect. I hope management addresses the communication between staff, the cleanliness of the dining area, and the seating process because this restaurant has the potential to provide a much better experience than the one we had. I chose Hannibal's because I wanted to support a well-known local, Black-owned business with an outstanding reputation. That's exactly why this experience was so disappointing. I truly hope management addresses these issues because this restaurant clearly means a lot to the community, and I'd love the opportunity to have the experience so many others have described.

As I was perusing it, a woman standing nearby with a cigarette informed me that the food was fantastic. Well, regarding the food, I would agree! Unfortunately, the service was just okay. When I entered, the hostess, who was standing at the bar, approached me and seated me at a table directly in front of the servers' station at the bar. Now, I was expecting a booth, but I certainly did not mind a table--especially one directly in front of the servers' station. One would think that being so close would result in immediate attention. On the contrary! I waited a good six minutes before my server, Katie V., approached me. I ordered a glass of Cabernet Sauvignon, which took close to ten minutes to arrive. I guess the bartender had to squeeze the grapes! I also ordered a cup of She-Crab Soup, which has the appearance of Lobster Bisque, but the taste is definitely crab. As my entrée, I had a Club Sandwich on wheat bread. Both the soup and the sandwich were tasty, and I have no complaints whatsoever about the food. Unfortunately, the service was another matter. Once I received my wine and meal, I was completely forgotten. Not once did Katie V. inquire about my meal. Not once did she refill my water glass. And not once did she inquire whether I wanted another glass of wine. Fortunately, another server noticed that both my water and wine glasses were completely empty. Since I did not know the brand of wine I had been served, she could not refill it without first obtaining that information from my server. By that point, Katie V. had lost the opportunity to earn what would have been a much larger tip. The hostess was also busy talking with customers at a booth for quite some time. They must have been frequent patrons because she seemed very engaged in their conversation. She, too, never once checked on me. Finally, there was a couple sitting at a table two tables away from me who apparently wanted to get their server's attention. Both of them repeatedly looked around the room trying to locate her. That pretty much summed up the service I experienced. In conclusion, the food at Virginia's on King was good, but the service left much to be desired. A restaurant can have excellent food, but attentive service is an equally important part of the dining experience. Unfortunately, on this visit, the service simply did not measure up to the quality of the food.
