One of my favorite wineries in the Sonoma region. The Petite Syrah is a perennial favorite and their Cabernets are always full bodied and delicious. They also do a fun pairing with a cheese plate. The staff are hit or miss, but definitely worth visiting for the wine. read more

Fantastic is the best word to describe Stephen & Walker. The staff are very informative and the wines are absolutely fantastic!! There is a tasting fee, but there are about 10 wines to taste along with a wonderful cheese pairing. The wines are all very delicious and any person should be able to find several to their liking. Last stop on the wine tour of Healdsburg, I was waiting for this place since the barrel tasting in March. I couldn't stop myself from buying wine then, even though it's kinda pricey. This time the pinot still knocked my socks off and came home with me... but the sav blanc tasted good, but not the same. Everything else was ok, but it's all worth it for the pinot. We had a wonderful time with Debbie. She was a wellspring of information. We happened to walk in because we liked the label and found one of our favorite wineries of all time. Nancy clearly knows her craft. As the only ones in there at first Debbie gave us her undivided attention and a couple of bonus tastings. The wines were well balanced and rich, and Debbie paired them with a little bite so we could taste their complexity. We split a tasting which was comped with our purchase. Great experience! A friend highly recommended this charming tasting room in downtown Healdsburg and it did not disappoint. This was my first visit to Sonoma and although there are more beautiful scenic wineries this was my favorite tasting experience for the wine and the people. They have delicious Zins and Petite Syrah, my fav. Even the sauvignon blanc was excellent and I'm usually not a fan of whites. We were offered generous tastings of their wine by the manager, Deb, who was very nice and friendly with lots of helpful information. Her experience, knowledge, and passion for wine was obvious. This tiny tasting room tucked in a little strip of shops next to HBG on Central Healdsburg is more than worth the stop. These wines are incredible and you can literally taste the care and love that goes into each bottle. Debra, the tasting room manager, is a knowledgeable delight, and I have had the pleasure of meeting Nancy Walker in the tasting room on several occasions. She is delightful and welcoming as well. This winery treats you like close family and I cannot say enough about the wine. Every taste is better than the last, and the Howell Mountain Cab is exquisite. It literally makes you stop and take a breath. I cannot leave Healdsburg w/o visiting Stephen & Walker and cannot leave Stephen & Walker w/o my Howell Mountain (and several others). In our wine trip to CA we had planned to visit at Le Crème and lunch in Healdsburg, CA. After a So-So visit to Le Crème (there wines are good but the wine tasting clerk just did not provide a good visit) we stopped in Stephen & Walker by accident. We ended up buying a bottle (we do not buy in our visit since shipping to the East is expensive and airline checkin is no easy). We would recommend stopping here. On a recent evening we opened the bottle with friends to find it tasted even better. Now I have to find the wine locally, since we like it soooo much. read more

Stopped in before dinner reservations on recommendation from friend. What a great spot with fantastic wines. Their rose, pinot, two zins and petite sirah were all excellent. This winery / tasting room trumps all others in the Healdsburg area. Ceri (or Cari) was an amazing host. I visited Stephen & Walker yesterday with 4 other girls and he was both entertaining and knowledgeable. I appreciated the fact that he made us feel right at home without all the snobbery that is normally associated with wines. He even went as far as to bring out a special treat (goat cheese and tomato puffs with balsamic reduction). Now I don't know if he actually made these himself but I thought it was a special touch. He mentioned that they were running low on Portentous and that we wouldn't be able to sample it but in the end he brought it out and let us have a small sample! This will be a place that I will continue to visit over and over again given the chance. read more

The wine was amazing. It was a very cool setting with a violinist playing and telling stories, which is standard on Sundays. Very cheap price for the amount of wine in the tasting, 8 wines that day, and they kept getting better. We love this place and their wines. We have been to the Napa/Sonoma area a few times and have been to probably 30 vineyards/wineries and this ranks in the top 3. Their Sav Blanc and Pinot Noir (Monterey County) are my favorites... I have had pinots for triple the amount I haven't liked as much! My husband likes their Cab (Howell Mountain). Their prices aren't bad for the area too. We joined the wine club and highly recommend!! read more

What a shame! Very disappointed with our Experience. Went to this tasting room because of the big, bold wines that they make and the great reviews that have been given. After a long day of winetasting we finished our day at Stephen and Walker just before heading for dinner. I realize that we had been enjoying wine and she had been working, but apparently our hostess had a much longer day than we had. This was unquestionably the shortest tasting of our day. We were in and out of the tasting room in perhaps 15 minutes and I really can't honestly assess the quality of the wines, although my overall impression was disappointing, this was probably as much or more from the experience. Most of the information that I received about the wine maker and the wines was from my specific questioning as opposed to the other tastings that we had enjoyed earlier in the day where the host/hostess offered up significant information and tasting thoughts. read more

Received poor customer service there this morning. Admittedly, we were early to arrive for winter wineland by less than 10 minutes. The door was propped open with the open sign up. It was raining and I asked if my elderly parents and I could wait inside until event time. Three ladies were working and we were advised that they were not ready at all for the event. No one said that yes, we could wait inside from the rain until the event began. If that is the case, don't open your door or put the open sign up. I left and my family decided to start at Kendall Jackson. They were friendly and helped us prior to event hours and allowed us to come in from the rain. My sister in law joined us a few minutes later and had noticed that this winery had flipped their sign to show back at 11. Needless to say, on our way back to the square we bypassed this spot. read more
