When I say I have been going to Dr. G my whole life, I mean it; they sent us a condolence card when my grandpa died. But today, of all days, took the cake. I got braces from Dr. G last December and today I went in to get them tightened but the area was experiencing a blackout, so the office had no power. Knowing I want my braces off, Dr. G tightened my braces, in the dark, by flashlight! They had a chair that was stuck in the reclined position from an earlier patient and a tech held the flashlight while my braces got tightened. I had an emergency tooth problem that I alone created from neglect and a lost filling. Of course I waited until the pain was unbearable, and Dr. Giovanisci was recommended to me. I sent a message through the website, and was promptly contacted and accommodated the same day. We decided to evict the tooth later in the afternoon, since it was a back molar without a matching partner. I was terrified, but his manner was so reassuring I decided to tough it out and go for it. I'm glad I did. I did not feel any pain except for the novocaine pinch, and the offending molar was out in a flash. I have not had a second of pain since. I am so grateful for Dr. G and the staff. I thought I would try this office as my long-time family dentist in La Canada retired last year. Big mistake. My first impression of Dr. Giovanisci....he is all about himself. Not much respect or care for the people around him. He is also all about the money. On my first visit, he did seem to know a lot about dentistry. However, he put a LOT of pressure on me for extra cosmetic services. He also gave me very little eye contact...creepy. He did give a LOT of eye contact to every other woman in the office. I won't be bringing my family to this office or recommending my friends and co-workers. It's a shame for the doctor. I have had some serious dental work from below average dentists my entire life. I went to Dr. Steve and immediately realized how every dentist SHOULD be. He is caring, thoughtful, listens to all your concerns, and is an all around amazing guy. His main dental assistant was very kind and patient while taking xrays as I always gag and tear up (but I didn't with him!). The receptionists greeted me with a smile on their faces even though it was very late at night. Everyone here seems to really love their job. I have been a patient of Dr. Giovanisci for several years. Recently he completed a very elaborate procedure that involved restructuring all my upper teeth. My bite was completely out of alignment and required a "snap-on" mouthpiece to begin the reconstruction. At first I was concerned about both the cost and time it would take to complete this long overdue project. Dr G's assistant Barry set up a very cost effective payment plan thru "simple pay" that made this affordable. The procedure started last November and was completed in March. My upper teeth and bite are absolutely perfect! Dr. Giovanisci, Barry , V and all the staff were amazing. I am very fortunate to have such a great & professional dentist in this area. I became a happy patient 3 years ago when I moved to Glendale area after leaving my lifelong Dentist who was all the way out in Century City adjacent. I've been with Dr. M, who works for Dr. G, and I think she is the best dentist I've ever seen. I can't say enough wonderful things about her....just a few.....kind, funny, interesting, patient, informative, VERT VERY experienced ( USA and also Australia before that - imagine two dental school stints and education doubled....) Although I've never met Dr. G, he always gives me a wave and a hello, very nice....very nice to do that from the owner and main dentist even if someone isn't his direct patient..;.....I just love this dental office, I really do. Really good experience here. They were slow (we waited over an hour from our appt time), but the Cleaning was sufficient and we felt well taken care of. I have known Dr. G for many years .. possibly 15 years. He is a great Dentist and Orthodontist! My son has had his orthodontist work done with Dr. G and now I am getting my teeth finally taken care of to straighten them with braces and he is very thorough. My teeth cleanings have always been done with lots of care no matter whom his office staff take care of me. He has great staff and they are always helpful and cheerful. He also has coffee in his office and a fun fish tank for kids.. I think you can find a fish like Nemo in his tank. Also our sons went to boy scouts together and we were on a trip to go snowboarding.. he is a great guy even away from the office. Very professional and friendly! We've been going to this practice for about 13 years. Dr.Mascarenhas is absolutely the best!!! She was so patient with my kids who at times feared certain treatments. She really cares about her patients and take the time to explain everything. She is truly a gem!!! We are grateful for the many years she's taken great care of our family. The receptionist staff has been great on scheduling around our crazy schedules too. Dr. Giovansci is a different story. In past visits he's been super rushed when treating my family, with an incident where he numbed me twice because he he was treating 2 other patients at the same time that the anesthesia wore off, plus with him trying to up sell me on braces ALL the time. After that I avoided him like the plague, until recently when I had no choice but to have him see my child because Dr. Mascarenhas wasn't there that day. When my child freaked out about the needle he yelled at my child like I had NEVER seen a "professional" do. Yelling at him saying that "big boys don't do what he just did" and that needed to "get out of here! because I can't take care of you when you act like that!" His assistants, who were great in taking the time with my child to get his images done, stood off to the side, I think, in utter disbelief as I did. I took my child and didn't say a word, which I regret. I got him treated elsewhere and he was fine with a little patience. With numbing me twice, my husband's tooth always coming unglued for the past 5 years, and him yelling at my child, it was time for us to break up with this dentistry. We will not go back! read more

If I could give Dr. G a 10 star, I would. I have been going to him for about 10 years now. I can't even begin to tell you how lucky I am to have him as my dentist. The VP of the company I work for referred me to him. I hadn't seen a dentist in at least 10 years. My teeth were a disaster; sore, bleeding, painful, etc. I believe he had to use a chisel and hammer to get the plaque and tarter off my teeth (LOL). He had to use 2 to 3 times the amount of novocaine he would normally use, and I was still in pain. My teeth were in big trouble! They were at a tipping point of maybe being removed, or at least some serious measures taken. Over the next few years, he quite literally saved my teeth. He explains everything he is doing so you know exactly what is going on and how you want to proceed. I go to him every 3 months now. My teeth have done a complete turnaround. They are now in terrific shape. No soreness. No bleeding. No pain. When I go in now, I get a teeth cleaning and I'm gone. Once in a while he has to fill a cavity. Dr. G. is the best dentist you will find. He truly cares for his patients. He is very detail oriented. He is also a really nice guy with a great sense of humor. The hygienists are top notch. His office staff are fantastic. Always with a smile for you. Even the fish in his fish tank have come to be my friends! We took our 3 year old to his first dental appointment at Dr. Giovanisci's office this past weekend. I have to say we were quite apprehensive as to how this would go. Our little guy is open to new things, but if he doesn't like something, he sure let's us know! (as most of you with 3 year olds can attest to, I'm sure!) This was his first trip ever to the dentist, so we were nervous! Well, I have to say that this place blew us away! Dr. M - one of the dentists that works with Dr. Giovanisci - was absolutely fantastic! She took lots of time and showed our son what each and every tool was used for before ever using them on his teeth. She explained everything from the mirror thing to the suction devices, let him try them so he wasn't afraid, and demonstrated the scraping on his fingernails before ever even touching his teeth. As a result, our son not only was fully willing to let Dr. M work on his teeth (counting and cleaning them), but even told us that he had FUN at the dentist! Wow. To top it off, they gave him a little toy and a toothbrush for his bravery. The dental assistant was also very friendly and our son opened up to him right away too. Highly recommended! Another trip to Dr. G's office last week. After a regular cleaning, the doctor thought it was time to do something about an ill-fitting crown, upper right molar. We had discussed this in the past. Dr. G and staff fit me into the schedule right away. Days later, the new crown was ready. I was able to come in the next day. It's been a week with this new porcelain crown and it feels as natural as the real thing did many years ago. This is a typical experience at Dr. G's office, as has been over the last 20+ years. His staff, office personnel and associates, seem to have caught the Customer Service fever. They are fine examples of how a dental office should be run. The service has been excellent and the dental care is the best ever received in my 70 years of dental experience. No exaggeration here. I have had much dental work with a number of different doctors. Dr. Giovanisci and the entire team is the best. I read the other reviews on Yelp. Just can't understand the comments of one of the 'unhappy' reviewers. There has never been a parking problem for me or my friends. As far as arrogance, The person must be talking about someone else. Over-bearing pride or self-importance is the definition of "arrogance". How can someone make such a comment when this entire office dedicates themselves to treating each person as the most important one in the office - especially Dr. G and his dental associates? Dr. Giovanisci's Office is the best. I have been coming here for three or four years now. Dr Mascarenea Is my dentist and Wendy is my hygienist. The office has great hours, late nights and weekends to accommodate every patient. The staff is always pleasant and professional. When I first started coming I had quite a few issues but Dr Mascarenea Has provided excellent care and advice on getting my teeth and gums back in shape. I recommend them highly, but today... Friday afternoon, I had an emergency. My temporary flipper broke- I went to the office, Dr. Mascarenea's was not in...But Dr Giovanisci came out to see what he could do to help. Not only did he manage to get the flipper fixed, he stayed past regular closing hours so that I could pick it up before the weekend and not have to go toothless!! That is going above and beyond. Usually I have enjoyed going to this office. However, last time was pretty annoying. They couldn't find X-rays that were right there in the file. The hygenist, "Maria", tore up my gums. [Avoid her.] And Dr. Giovanisci was putting on the hard sell to me and my kid for $$$ EXPENSIVE $$$ cosmetic dentistry costing thousands of dollars, and making her feel bad about how her teeth look. What's the matter, did he buy a fancy house and needs to pay for it? Well, I don't want to pay for it. Nine years and still going. I have seen both Dr. Giovanisci and Dr. Mascharenas, at this office and both of them are great dentists. I have every reason to fear dentists because of my history, but I don't when I go there. Like most of the reviews tell you, the staff are friendly (they know my name without having to peek at the computer screen), and the hygienists and dentists are kind as well as knowledgeable. I have never been given the hard sell that a few reviews mention--just kind and professional treatment. Most recently Dr. G, who is also an orthodontist, talked with me about the crossbite/underbite that I had. I had been told by numerous dentists, orthodontists and a dental surgeon that it would require surgery to correct--breaking my jaw and realigning it. However, when Dr. G saw how my jaw worked and used X-rays to see how my jaw/teeth lined up, we talked about the possibility of using braces to correct the crossbite. After taking time to think about this (again, no hard sell), I decided to try the braces. He told me it would take 12-18 months to see if it would work. It is now less than 11 months later, the braces are off, and I have a corrected bite with straightened teeth as an added bonus. I have gotten so many compliments on how good my smile looks. I can tell the compliments are genuine, because the person will stop in surprise mid-sentence and then tell me that my smile really does look great. I have wanted to correct the crossbite for years but would have never gone the route of surgery. Thanks. Dr. G! read more

I used to be terribly afraid of going to the dentist and have had bad experiences in the past. Not with Dr. Giovanisci! I completely trust him and his staff. They have Saturday and evening hours to accommodate people who work full time. He is excellent at his expertise as is his staff. If you have an emergency, they will accommodate you.
