My husband has suffered with a lifelong fear of dental work from several past traumas, and Dr. Vaughan was very kind and compassionate, thoroughly explained what needed to be done, and did a fantastic job resolving his issues, pain-free (following necessary numbing injections). In 21 years, I've never seen my husband so calm and pleased after having an invasive dental procedure. We now have Dr. Vaughan saved in our phones as the go-to for any future dental emergencies, and surgeries that may need to be done. Total Rip-off. Consultation fee is $335. I was asked to pay $200 and no one mentioned that there will be another $108 that will be billed to the insurance and that I will be responsible for another $27. The quote I was given on my way out after the consultation was almost $5000 for a single tooth implant EXCLUDING the crown. I wish that the doctor and his staff were more transparent and upfront regarding the consultation charges. Many reputable doctors around OC offer free consultation. Do your homework. read more

One of the very rare cases where I wish there were more than 5 stars to give. Dr. Vaughn and his entire staff are unquestionably the BEST I have ever worked with. From the consultation visit, I noted that he does things from a truly 'patient health' standpoint, and has ways that set them apart. I had instant confidence that I was in the right place. I might add that the technology he has is seriously amazing. Less than a week later, I was in the chair undergoing a very complicated procedure that Dr. Vaughn handled with the utmost skill and professionalism...not to mention unprecedented (from my point of view) PATIENT COMFORT. Procedures were difficult and painful to think about, yet I did not feel a thing. No pain at all. Zero. Hard to imagine, but I actually enjoyed the process all around. I really must say that Dr. Vaughan is as good as his reviews state. He removed one of my wisdom teeth and performed an implant for another tooth during the same procedure. Thankfully, he used the twilight sleep procedure and I didn't feel anything. I had minimal pain following the procedure which is a real switch from my experience with another Dentist in January. I had MSE with surgical assist with Dr. Vaughan, and it was awful. I had serious complications, many of which are not reversible. Both my breathing and cosmetics got worse because of this procedure. I traveled from the Bay Area to visit a highly respected Orthodontist nearby and Dr.Ting referred me to get checked by Dr. Vaughan, in case I need Maxillary Expansion Surgery. I was referred to Dr. Vaughan's office by a good friends and let me tell you, best referral ever. About a year ago I got 2 out of my 4 wisdom teeth taken out by a dentist in Anaheim. Mind you, I was supposed to get all 4 out at once but my experience was so horrible, I made them stop after 2. I'm a tripper and I hate going to the doctor/dentist and I seriously hate needles and all that stuff. Gives me the worst anxiety ever. Safe to say I was pretty traumatized and did not want anyone to touch the remaining two wisdom teeth I still had. As time passed, I could feel my last two wisdom teeth growing and it was causing me so much pain. So after giving it some thought, and I figured I would check out Dr. Vaughan's place. The consultation went very smooth. I got all my facts and information and I felt good about doing the surgery here. Oh, and The nurses and front desk ladies were incredibly kind. Fast forward to my surgery day.... which was a couple days ago.... I literally was out asleep and woke up before I knew it. It went by so fast. Once I woke up, the nurses were right by my side making sure I was ok, and Dr V was also there to check on me. Here's the best part. I had NO SWELLING AND NO PAIN WHAT SO EVER. I didn't have to take one single pain med!! I couldn't believe this considering my previous wisdom removal experience I was swollen from my face down to my neck and in so much pain for 4 days!! But nope, not at this place! It felt too good to be true but trust me, it was the easiest experience ever. The payment was a walk in the park as well. My insurance covered majority of it and I paid the day of my surgery and then went straight on in, no wait time or delays, I was in and out in no time. If I could give more then 5 stars I would!! During the beginning of the week I meet Dr Vaughan and his amazing staff because I needed to remove all four of my wisdom teeth. I have been pushing this procedure off for such a long time due to my severe anxiety and my worst fear going under anesthesia. After speaking with Dr. Vaughan he was so caring and kind he made me feel like I would be okay. Then today at 7 am, all four of my wisdom teeth where extracted. But before the procedure his staff made me feel very at home, and they calmed me down immensely. You don't see this in many offices anymore with the staff being so kind and caring about every individual that walks into the office. Then Dr. Vaughan came in to speak with me and he asked how I was doing and he assured me that everything will go just great. Then anesthesia kicked in and I remember waking up and feeling great. Dr. Vaughan though did another thing that I learned after that just shows his amazing character. He walked out to my car where my girlfriend was because she was taking me home and he spoke with her even when you can see how busy he is (and I know why know because he's so awesome) and he still made time. End Result Right after the surgery I had minimal amount of pain and no swelling. Now in the evening I don't have much pain at all and no swelling, just shows how great he his! I don't feel like I had a surgery today and we drove all the way from Los Angeles because he was recommend to me. Doctor Vaughan performed surgically assisted MSE for me to improve my breathing and I had a bad result. I had some serious complications, and other jaw surgeons I consulted with post-op confirmed he botched my procedure. Not sure he knows what he's doing and I recommend you stay away. read more

I should have written ''tis a long time ago, but I did not have Yelp yet. My son had impacted x4 wisdom teeth. After a car accident, he had headaches and dizziness with some nausea. Kaiser was useless. Prior dentist found the problem but wasn't sure how badly impacted and tried to send him to a general dentist for removal because he was worried about doing it. I figured it out that this was the cause of his symptoms, had a head CT done, and found nerves involved in the impaction. This was the only Doctor to help and even did it the day after Christmas to help him. Perfect work done and recovery was amazing!! I first was referred to Dr. V for my husband. And I was impressed by his knowledge and quick diagnosis for my husbands complicated jaw issues. That I might add, the other doctors had no idea what was the issue and appeared to just be guessing and costing us money with trial and errors. With my issue, I had been to about 5 other dentist in the area. All with great reviews and were highly recommended. But every one of the other providers had one or more of these problems: 1. had no idea why I had a tooth ache, 2. Made contraindicated treatment plan suggestions (I.e why don't we just try this even though your X-rays are normal) 3. Minimized my pain level due to their lack of knowledge 4. Tried treatments that didn't work. 5. Had horrible office staff that tried to get me to pay for expensive things without knowing my diagnosis. How is this ethical. Ok so rest assured you won't get any of this with Dr. Vaughan. His office manager was amazing. She spent several phone calls answering my questions even after hours before my surgery. His dental assistants were so friendly and caring. Dr. Vaughn is well educated, respected among many professionals (even my ENT surgeon knows him), and he's caring and gentle with his treatment. One my highlights was his office staff playing disney music while I was prepping/having for surgery. That was my calming agent. So I honestly don't have anything bad to say and again I have high standards. I met Dr. Vaughan earlier this year for a failed root canal that had an abscess causing bone damage and entering my sinus. He extracted the tooth and cleaned everything and placed a bone graft and closed my sinus up. Then after everything had healed, I saw Dr Vaughan on 6/22/21 for the placement of a tooth implant. Dr Vaughan and his staff explains everything from the procedure to the cost of the procedure in detail. Dr Vaughan is so easy to talk to and his staff are so kind and understanding. I would not recommend this oral surgeon. It was like talking to a used car salesman. He was trying to sell me on getting a implant right after my toorh was pulled. The price was $1500 more than my own dentist. I let him know this but kept trying to sell me on it. I told him no more than 3 times, but he wouldn't give up. Once I decided not to have the implant. They came back with the extraction price that was absurd. Prices were not the same as other oral surgeons. Wanted me to get a bone graph but did not feel I needed one. Just needed a tooth extracted. After that I didn't feel comfortable and had to leave. I would never go back to this office. Staff was very friendly though, but not impressed with doctor. read more
