This is the first time I went to Sterling on a recommendation, at this point I can only give facts I am not neither recommending or saying anything bad about this place. Sterling from a visual aspect is a nice place, very clean and the folks there are very friendly. I met the owner and he is a friendly guy, he even apologized for the high bill that I had to pay. With that said here are the facts. I was quoted for a fuel pump for 475.21 I was able to find on line a fuel pump for my truck that cost anywhere between 133.86 on JC Whitney website to the more expensive 219.99 at Advance auto part. I searched locally for the part and came up with 256.00, not sure if I looked for the right one but according to my search AFP E7138M is the right part. I also checked an on-line estimator and it stated that for a repair like this that it should be on the low end 404.00 and on the high end 732.00. I was charged more than that but then again not sure how accurate an on line estimator is. Again I'm not recommending or bad mouthing this place just relaying my experience.....will I go back? At this point not sure yet but based on my experience you make the choice to either give them a shot or not. read more

I had my car towed to this repair shop because AAA stated it would be free to do so. I did not know anything about this shop. The manager did a great job explaining to me what was wrong with my car. It was towed in to business 30 minutes before they closed and I was back in my car by lunchtime the next day. I had been going to Sterling for years as a loyal customer. I referred countless people here over the years. I trusted them completely...until one day when I was getting work done, I got a call asking if they should do the 60k checkup. I told them to go ahead, which is the action that led to the end of the line. I picked up the car and was shocked at the inspection charge. I looked at the list of what was inspected and it included items like "check seatbelts, check wipers, lubricate door hinges ". I plead my case that it was excessive but it fell on deaf ears. When I got home, I looked closer at what was inspected and found that one of my rear seatbelts was stuffed behind the seat and my rear wiper was torn. I also found my hinges bone dry. They clearly didn't do what I excessively paid for. I spoke to the owner and he offered to redo the inspection it didn't address the fact that his shop charged me for things they didn't do. I asked him how I could trust that they did the other more important things that relate to the operation of the vehicle. He refused to compromise on what he charged me so I walked away and haven't been back since. He made an easy few hundred off me that day but lost a long time and loyal customer as well as any referral business. I was really deeply disappointed as I felt betrayed by someone I placed a great deal of trust in. read more

Margie was very nice and offered me coffee each time I waitied. Fonda, the owner came out and introduced himself and chatted for a minute. My experience was exceptional. Stay far away, I had my car in there years ago and the mechanic reported an issue with the car that wasnt viable and way different then what the dealer reported. They also had supposedly fixed my AC on the Accord at the time and after spending a good amount of money, there was no change at all. We also purchased Oil Change certificates that were never refunded. Very unscrupulous place!!! read more

If there was less than one star, I'd give Sterling that. In December 2014, a hose came unplugged from my radiator and trying to fix it myself, I tried to reattach it using a clamp but it didn't work so I tried to glue the hose back into the hole it's suppose to attach to- that obviously didn't work either. I took my car to Sterling and they told me that the thing the hose was suppose to attach to had broken off and I needed a new radiator. I paid nearly $700 for a NEW radiator plus labor. In January 2015, I moved to Seattle, Washington (my car was moved on a truck) and since moving here, I don't use my car that often, we mostly use my husband's car. Recently, I became stranded when my car overheated. I had it towed to a mechanic who said there is a hole in the radiator and I need a new one. I thought this was strange since I had it replaced in Illinois and hadn't put nearly enough miles on the car to need another NEW radiator. I told the mechanic this as well so when he removed the radiator, he not only showed me the hole in the radiator but said that the one he removed from my car was the original (that came with the car). He said "maybe I'm mistaken, maybe they used a salvaged radiator". (Note: I paid for a NEW one) Then he asked if they might have tried to glue the hole when they repaired the one in Illinois because "this one has glue all dripping down one side". So even though I paid for a BRAND NEW radiator, I didn't even get a salvaged one, I got the original patch work with glue still stuck to it. DO NOT use these people. If I still lived in Illinois, I'd probably take them to small claims court. read more
