Our Auggie broke his leg and the after care that Dr. Squibb has shown us throughout our pups recovery is hands down the best! He has always been up front and I feel that he has always been very honest with us, which is A HUGE plus. The only thing I would say needs work are the front desk ladies some times they're rude, and some times they have unnecessary snarky attitudes (not all of them-but some of them and when on the phone they don't fully listen. One of them complained about another employee right in front of me, which I found very unprofessional on their end because my interaction with that specific person, actually was very helpful and I had zero complaints about her. If you have personal feelings about co workers, they should really keep their eye rolling and unnecessary comments to themselves. The front desk is the first point of contact with the public and they really do make the first impression for NCVH. Other than that, hands down, we recommend NCVH.

Because of that, I was nervous about finding a new vet--especially since Charlie isn't exactly friendly with humans outside of his family. That changed when we visited Dr. Tonia and her team at Sedro-Woolley Veterinary Clinic. From the moment we arrived, they made both Charlie and me feel at ease. Dr. Tonia completed his check-up, provided flea medication, updated his shots, and even clipped his nails--all while showing complete confidence in her skills and her team's ability to handle him. Most importantly, there was no judgment or shaming toward either of us, just genuine care and professionalism. The cost was about half of what I had been quoted at the Burlington clinic that will remain nameless (if you live in the valley, you probably know which one I mean). I will absolutely be recommending Sedro-Woolley Veterinary Clinic to anyone in need of veterinary services. I doubt it. I fell for it because they were supposed to be VETS AND take care of My Dogs. They're not supposed to run up unnecessary charges for things that are not necessary. Not only did My Dogs molar try likely NOT need to come out, they didn't even clean her teeth properly. I had to have them re-clean in less than a year. I also had to have a series of vaccinations done on both of my dogs which cost full price for three years rabies vaccination that I told them I wanted instead they gave me the one-year vaccination. I had to have that redone by my normal good vet in less than a year. I HATE THESE PEOPLE !!! Don't go there !!! I got my dog out of that office and immediately noticed that her teeth cleaned at all paid almost $3000 for unnecessary surgeries teeth cleanings and vaccinations that had to be redone in less than a year. I thought it might be because of the heat wave we were having at the time, but when she got increasingly lethargic and started hiding, I got worried and called Chuckanut Valley. They got us right in! After quite a bit of poking and prodding, not to mention a full panel of tests, it was determined that my cat was likely just hot. It was a pretty expensive diagnosis, but I was relieved it wasn't something worse. The doctors and staff here are always so loving and kind. And while their prices are definitely premium (aren't all vets?) I do appreciate they have prescription meds on hand when I need them for my pets, and offer discounts if you offer full diagnostic panels. I am so happy to have found them!

You bet. Bring them in. Yesterday a friend called and asked where she should take her 17+ old dog that appeared to have an abscessed tooth. I recommended Skagit Animal Clinic and she took her there. About an hour after the appointment time, my friend called in tears saying it was a tumor and the vet had gone over all the options, though it was clear euthenasia was the most humane. I immediately went down to be with her, as did her mother and brother. The staff was incredible! When I arrived (near tears) and asked where they were, the receptionist, herself near tears when she learned who I was looking for, directed me outside to a shady area of lawn and trees where my friend was saying good-bye to her companion of so long. The entire procedure was conducted outside, with dignity, at a pace my friend controlled. There was absolutely no indication that "time was awastin'" and this clinic had never met this dog. The charges (included subcontracted private cremation) were below reasonable. This clinic is unquestionably the most compassionate and least profit oriented of any vet I've encountered in 20 years in Skagit County. Every single experience with them has been inspiring. Dr. Bergdoff (sp?) is a credit to her profession, as are her fantastic staff.

We connected with another awesome groomer in Oak Harbor but then she became unresponsive. We had a very bad experience with grooming at a local vet clinic and I was thinking I'd have to drive to Seattle to find a good cat groomer. So I was elated to find Michelle. I was hesitant to try someone new because I didn't want to put our cat in another compromising situation, but Michelle was fantastic. She's very communicative, she didn't demand that our cat be drugged before grooming, she was unbelievably fast, and her place is super peaceful -- I've never seen more than one fur baby in her studio at a time. Our cat lost part of her jaw after being hit by a car and has trouble keeping her long fur clean. Michelle's expert grooming makes it easy for our kitty to stay clean and be even more adorable than she already is in her special lion cut. Super nice person, loves animals, terrific pricing, easy location. Just WINNING all the way around.

They put me on a plan so I could pay monthly for all the required vaccines she was a little past due for, she was an indoor cat and money has been tight so it wasn't a huge priority. I paid for x-rays and they told me there was some irritation, but looked healthy. I was relieved, but three days later during her healing from the vaccines I had to take her to an emergency vet. She could barely breathe, and I'm assuming all the vaccines had made her symptoms worse. I could not afford the huge bill just to see what was wrong, so she's gone. I'm devastated, if these people were at ALL competent they would have seen what was wrong with her days beforehand. I had multiple people tell me nothing was wrong with her, if these people were any good I'd at least would've know what was wrong, and had more time to get funds. Her last days were nothing but suffering. Do not bother with this place, go elsewhere if you love your pet.

While I was there, I noticed a little pug and asked about her. They told me she wasn't available for adoption. I could see why -- her butt was prolapsed and there was liquid poop and blood all over her kennel. She was panting, whining, and frantically trying to get out. It was really upsetting to see. I spoke with the manager, who told me not to worry, that they had it under control and the dog was fine. I left feeling terrible. I came back a few days later and the poor pug was still in the same condition -- prolapse, bloody diarrhea, the whole thing. She still looked miserable. I'm really concerned that they don't have the animals' best interest at heart. A prolapsed rectum is painful, and there was clearly blood coming from her. I just don't understand how a person could look at that and think it's okay to leave her like that. This experience has me seriously questioning the level of care the animals are getting. I wanted to support the shelter, but I left feeling heartbroken and worried. I'm still looking to adopt a dog, but after this experience I don't feel confident adopting from here.

Dr. Milan took the time to answer every single one of my questions, explain the details thoroughly, and develop a plan that prioritized my dog's success while also being mindful of financial constraints. He focused on the essential tests that made the surgery possible for me to afford, and it was always clear that his top priority was my pet's well-being and quality of life. He is exceptional at what he does, and I will always be grateful I found him. The techs were also fantastic; walking me through the pre- and post-op process with care and professionalism. That said, the business side of this hospital left a very different impression. The financial policies feel rigid, profit-driven, and disconnected from the compassion their medical staff provides. My dog's gallbladder surgery was around $10k and they required full upfront payment before even beginning check-in. This drastically delayed check and check out unnecessarily. They do not offer direct pay options with insurance providers and insisted this was somehow a "benefit" to me. In reality, requiring $10k cash or card upfront- and even refusing checks- puts families in heartbreaking positions during emergencies. The check-in process was stressful and impersonal. My dog wasn't even taken back until the payment fully cleared, which took about 30 minutes while I worked with my bank to lift a daily card limit. During checkout, I was immediately presented with a card machine for an additional $850 balance before they would even start preparing my dog for release. There was no warm greeting, no conversation about how my dog did- just a transaction. It made me feel like seeing my dog again was contingent on payment, which overshadowed the relief I felt knowing the surgery was successful. While the front desk is urgent and quick to demand the money- they cannot answer a single billing question from your receipt. In summary: The medical staff here, especially Dr. Milan, are outstanding and truly care about pets and their families. Unfortunately, the administrative and financial side of the clinic delivers a cold, business-first experience that undermines the incredible work being done in the operating room. If Dr. Milan were to practice elsewhere, I would follow him without hesitation. Huge tip: if you are traveling from out of town or just want an additional night right next to their 24/7 urgent care the hotel has a contract with them that provides a great discount.
