I've been taking my kitties here since moving to the Valley a couple years ago, and have always been more than impressed by their service and amazing, loving care. Recently, my littlest cat was acting very weird and stopped eating over a period of a few days. I thought it might be because of the heat wave we were having at the time, but when she got increasingly lethargic and started hiding, I got worried and called Chuckanut Valley. They got us right in! After quite a bit of poking and prodding, not to mention a full panel of tests, it was determined that my cat was likely just hot. It was a pretty expensive diagnosis, but I was relieved it wasn't something worse. The doctors and staff here are always so loving and kind. And while their prices are definitely premium (aren't all vets?) I do appreciate they have prescription meds on hand when I need them for my pets, and offer discounts if you offer full diagnostic panels. I am so happy to have found them! read more

They had my dog to trim her nails. She had to be sedated cause she hates it. When I picked her up she was lethargic. By the next day she is vomiting blood. I took her back and they said "correlation does not imply causation". It was all CYA. " not our problem ". The vet says he'll be right back. He goes out for 10+ minutes. I go to see what's going on. He was typing. My guess is that he is adjusting the report on the procedure. Ultimately my dog died. I'll never go back. And suggest the same for you. read more

well I may have made the wrong review without thinking I was mad cause I have been freaking out about my dog I drove three hours to see this Dr and I was in there for few minutes why I was told she couldn't help me but I was charged anyway,well the Dr came in and said she doesn't think my dog needs hip surgery that he may need knee surgery and then I was done just like that so I got mad well why could they not tell me on the phone .Well after research I found out without seeing my dog she is not allowed by law to recommend anything so I was pissed I drove that far so I left the Dr a mean review well the Dr told me he did not need a hip review well I'm glad she told me that at the time I was not I just wanted my pit bull to quit suffering well at least she did not do surgery when he didn't need it I figured I was paying for the exam they could have at least examined him she checkked his leg by feeling it and that's as far as she went but she had X-rays from the other place that she studied I'm assuming before I got there well I owe apology and thanks for not giving him surgery he didn't need but would have liked him checked better then they did.Well last night spark has not been feeling well or eating well last night he ate a lot which was surprising and he came running in the door and looking at dad which is me and right away I new something was wrong so I ran over and his legged was crossed and he had #2 under his leg right away I new what it was cause when he was younger he would aet the string off the toys and I would have to take it out of him well we don't have any toys like that and the sitter swears up and down she don't either so after I took it out he has been a lot happier and playing with his ball for last two days but had not for over a month can that string stay stuck in him that long without digesting and can that cause his legged to go paralyzed ??well I went to a Dr at murphys corner and she was a little older with a lot of knowledge her name was Donna right away she found the problem it was not his hip it was not his knee she showed me from the knee down he has no feeling it's basically paralyzed so she told me he hurt his back probably playing with kids or playing ball sliding but after last night I hope he gets better cause yesterday a few times he yelped like he was in pain I wonder if it was this getting ready to come out and now his leg is still same but he seems lot happier anyways the dr at Chuckanut could have wanted money and gave spark a surgery he did not need but she didn't and I owe a thanks and apology for last message or review that I'm gonna take down read more

My almost 3 year old healthy chocolate lab started to vomit on Wed, New Years Day, this continued throughout the day. By that 930pm that evening I was concerned it was more than a fluke. (Of course these things always happen on holidays when things are closed) I went online to the CVVC website and made an appointment for Friday. On Thursday morning I received a call at 8am in regards to my Friday appt. Upon talking with the sweet gal who called me, she informed me that I could bring my guy in as a drop off (on Thursday) if I was really worried. That's exactly what I did. The front staff upon arrival was beyond amazing. I dropped my guy off and hoped they could tel me what was wrong. Within a few hours I received a call informing me (what I had already thought) that there was a foreign body in his intestine. We spoke about giving it time to pass and obviously the potential surgery to remove it. We had a surgery set for Monday if he hadn't passed it by then (this was still Thursday). Dr Beebe not only gave me all the information I needed to know, she also gave an option to me. She offered to come in the next day if I didn't want to wait til Monday and do his surgery on her day off. And that is exactly what she did. Dr Beebe and vet Tech Aidin listened to my gut and saved my dogs life. His bloodwork showed no concerns and his behavior wasn't alarmingly concerning but my gut said not to wait. And because of their willingness to listen to me, my Theo had an easy (and very necessary) surgery. Had we waited the outcome would have been not only much more expensive, but harming to him. Dr Beebe and team are amazing and go above and beyond for the patients. I cannot recommend them enough, and will never take my animals anywhere else. She also called me on Saturday to check in on him and let me know that I absolutely made the right call by listening to my gut. CVVC has an outstanding reputation for a reason, and I'm so thankful that's where we go. They deserve more than 5 stars read more

I absolutely love these vets! We took our Dobermans here my whole life but I have since moved to Tacoma. My cat recently became very sick and had crystals in his urethra. I sent him to an emergency vet in the south sound for five days and then they discharged him saying he needed surgery. I called thirteen vets between Tacoma and Burlington and chuckanut was literally the ONLY vet who agreed to treat him medically, not surgically. He's now home safe and happy. I cannot thank Dr. Jake and his team enough for saving my king kitty and really wish they were closer than two hours because I truly trust them with my animals' life. Our experience with Chuckanut Valley Veterinary...Our retriever blew out his CCL ligament recently. After checking around the area it turned out it was Chuckanut that had the soonest possible surgery appointment available. So, we took him in for a surgery consult. The vet confirmed that the dog needed surgery and said he had sent out the x-rays for interpretation and would call back with results in a couple days. From the beginning we asked for a detailed cost estimate of the treatment plan for TPLO surgery. We never heard anything back from the vet. The surgery date was five days out and no call back and still no cost estimate for the surgery. We finally called and asked what the deal was only to be told the doctor wasn't available until the next day. No explanation as to the lack of the cost estimate. We finally got a cost estimate only after having to file a complaint with the corporate manager. We didn't hear anything back from the vet about the x-rays until the following day. We started looking over the cost estimate and noticed that our overall cost quoted was right up there with the high-end orthopedic surgery clinics with board certified orthopedic surgeons. Dr. McWilliams is not a board-certified orthopedic surgeon. Just a DVM with surgical training. The next thing we noticed was that they had quoted 60mg Codeine pills at a cost $450.00 for sixty tabs!!! That's seven dollars a pill folks! A seven hundred percent markup! Codeine is available without health insurance at $1.20 a pill in every pharmacy between Bellingham and Seattle. In addition, there was a note at the bottom of the cost estimate stating that any after care treatment charges would be charged separately. The next day my wife spoke with the corporate manager to voice our concerns with the cost estimate. A half hour later they called and cancelled our dog's surgery stating that the vet was no longer comfortable operating on our animal and that we should seek a second opinion from an orthopedic surgeon. So here we are left with an animal that is now left to suffer in pain while we scramble to find a surgery appointment with somebody with some ethics. How dare we question the ethics and honesty of the almighty Chuckanut Valley Veterinary! I demanded a refund for the $700.00 I paid for the surgery consult and was only offered a refund after threatening to turn them in to the State Attorney General's office. I have never dealt with this level of dishonesty, lack of ethics, and poor customer service from a veterinary practice in my whole life. Do yourself a favor and take your animals anywhere but here. Big corporate rules here, it's all about up-charging the customer with bogus charges and procedures, and no one could give a damn about your animals well being if you should have the audacity to question it! read more

We've been to this vet once and it was a lovely experience! But this review is solely regarding the Dog boarding services... I am without words. We left our dogs here for the very first time ever, and our first time EVER, leaving without taking them with us. We were so nervous. We left our babies here for 5 days. And for the whole 5 days, not a single person thought to remove their harnesses, not even during the night. When we picked them up, we could see how uncomfortable they were in the car, something was off. One of them was full on rubbing her body across the back seat of the car as if trying to scratch. We got home and I took the harnesses off. One of them has thicker fur so he seemed ok. Both had an obvious indentation across their back and front, but my girl's skin was rubbed raw where the harness met her body, almost to the point of bleeding. It was obvious they had been left on. They were itchy for days. I had even told them that my girl was sensitive to harnesses and things going around her head, so.. by leaving hers on for literally days until she was past the point of discomfort is just... super. Great way to treat PTSD. I was livid for my pups. And hurt. I didn't think I had to request to have their harnesses taken off for a period of 5 DAYS. That. Is. Wild. The staff is nice and eager to answer questions before hand. I was really nervous to leave my dogs and they helped me feel much better about it. But that trust went completely out the door when I discovered this. I feel massively let down. I called them to let them know. The gal seemed very apologetic and said she would let everyone know and that her supervisor would call, but no one called. Seems like a great place and affordable rates. But this type of carelessness really got me. TBD. read more

If you take your dogs to get groomed here please check them everywhere before you leave. My dog now has three scabs from grooming. I had to take him to be seen with his vet because the cuts under his eye got infected. Now he currently has a surgical cone on (due to the itching) and has an eye infection. The groomer did not tell me anything. They never informed me of what happened. Never bringing my dog in there ever again. read more

We drive from Stanwood for their care. We wouldn't take our pets anywhere else. They have the best doctors and friendly staff.

We had to find a new Vet because the one we used to go was closed. My husband decided to come here because the reviews are seemed pretty good. The reason why we went because one of my puppy couldn't pee anymore. We took him here and they did X-ray and everything saying there was no kidney or bladder stones. It's just an infection and gave us all the medicines saying in like 17 hours it will get better. (Yes we paid hundreds of dollars for this visit.) However, it didn't get any better. He still couldn't pee and stopped eating as well. So we took him in again and now the doctor says, he has kidney stones and he needs the surgery. And asked us to drop him the next day morning. I was so mad because they have checked X-ray and did ultrasound and everything and said THERE WAS NO STONES. And made us to wait for just making it worse. What's the point for the first visit? Did that mean they didn't even do it or just didn't look at the result carefully?!! Anyway, because of that, my 8 years old puppy was suffered more. The surgery went well as they said and he started to pee like a champ. However, the doctor said she is going to send the stone to the lab to find out what is causing it, and will give us a call. It's been a month and never gotten the call so I went in since my young one needed to be sprayed. I talked with the receptionist and she said the doctor won't be in at noon and will leave a note so she can give us a call. Of course, there was no call. The next day, when I go to pick up my little girl, the doctor came out said she just called my husband and explained to me what the stone was and told me to come back for two month check up. When I picked up my girl, the internet was down so the card machine?!? Wasn't working. I said just give me a call if I don't pick it up and just leave a message and I will pay over the phone. They called and I had to call back. When I called back, first, I explained three times why I am calling, because your machine wasn't working this morning, I couldn't pay so I want to pay the bill for my girl. The lady just can't understand me and keeping saying random things. Finally, when she got it, she gave me a different amount from the invoice I have. So I asked why the price is different, she didn't know and asked me to email the photo of what I have so they can compare with what they have so I did. After hours, I still heard nothing so I called again. This time, it's a different lady and understood and also explained why. (They added the cone thing after they gave me the invoice which also means if I pay the bill in the morning, I would have balance there?!!! Until they send me a bill or something!?!) I wish they are more organized. The doctor suggest the oldest (8 years old) should have the teeth cleaned. We made reservation and this time was a different doctor. They said they will call us and let us know about things. They did, and asked permission for remove 3 teeth. However, when we picked up our boy, the nurse explained and gave us the paper saying 7 teeth are being removed. I was confused and asked why? The doctor called and mentioned 3 but why actually 7? I guess it's needed to be done but what's the point calling and only mention 3?! There were two nurses and one was like you can see the paper it's 7 like I don't know how to read. Because I read the paper, I found out there were 7 teeth removed and not 3!. My point was we have never been informed about the other 4!!!!! Or even mentioned in the phone. It takes A LOT for me to write a bad review, but let me start off by saying TAKE YOUR PET ANYWHERE BUT HERE. I will start with the most recent issue. Today, I arrived at 9am for my grooming appointment. I called several times before someone picked up and instead of coming to get my animals as I was told would be the case over the phone, they insisted I come in. There were 3 people in a very small space and no wiping of door handles as people were coming and going. They allowed another dog to get right in the middle of my two dogs and laughed when I stated that they "were lucky my dogs are friendly". Which, my Westie is typically not with other dogs. But here's the real kicker; they claimed I wasn't in the system and had no appointment. I have been bringing my dogs here for years and magically I was gone. So, I asked if they could squeeze them in since they made an error and they gave me a hard no. They offered to reschedule them in a few weeks and I had already moved my appt twice since they were closed due to covid. That is not an acceptable answer for two senior dogs with hair growing in their eyes, ears and everywhere else. The supervisor conveyed all this over the phone to her employee who then conveyed it to me. I asked what other compensation they could offer and the girl said she had no authority to offer anything. So I asked that their manager contact me and when they did they never offered any apology, consolation or compromise to the problem they created. I have been a customer service manager for 15 years and in the industry for 20 and that is just not how you handle a mistake made on your end with an upset customer. Next, they didn't properly treat my senior cat resulting in my finding her dead under our bed. She had a massive heart murmur and started having seizures, but instead wanted to assume it was a tumor with no testing and give her meds for that. Not find out if her heart was providing enough oxygen to her brain. But what would I know, I've only worked/volunteered in animal rescue for over a decade?! After my cat, Aurora, passed we realized that they never gave us our carrier back. It wasn't until we picked up her remains that we realized it was not given back as promised. We have emailed and called at least ten times and the issue has still not been resolved. Definitely something every pet parent wants to do after losing their cat after 14 years together--keep calling the office you brought her to. Prior to that I had their vet come out to work on my pet pot bellied pig's tusks and hooves. The vet didn't have a tech with him because they were short handed, so he had me help him for hours in their pen. He couldn't get the dosage right for my big boy, Elvis, and dosed him continually for at least an hour chasing him around the pen. I was so worried the entire day after he left because he wouldn't move. Clearly, he over drugged him since he said it usually wears off within a half hour. I was panicked for 12. They still charged me full price for doing the job with them and almost killing my pig. And the last story from this past year (yes, this all happened within less than a year) brings us right back to the charming groomer. I brought my senior, Dexter, for his usual grooming. We came home and I was wondering why he was limping and crying. I examined him and found his leg was cut very deeply right in the hip crease. I had to clean and care for the wound for two weeks until it began to heal. The groomer claims she never noticed which I find even more enraging! I have given them and the clinic manager, Christy, the benefit of the doubt, but this place has severely gone down hill. I do not recommend any of their services and truly hope for the animals sakes that they get their act together. read more

I wrestled quite a while with whether or not I would leave this review and ultimately decided that I wish someone had given me a heads up before I absolutely needed this veterinarian. During the heat wave one of my exotic animals did very poorly all of the sudden. When we contacted chuckanut because they were the vet service contracted with the pet store we got our chinchilla from, I was absolutely frantic with a mostly unresponsive animal. The absolute unprofessionalism I was met with on the phone was disgusting. Not only was the receptionist cold, uncaring, and absolutely unhelpful, she was so detached I genuinely wonder if she even likes animals. If I could have given the service zero stars I would. If I could give it negative I would in a second. We contacted the veterinarian's office and told them the situation, her response was very short and to the effect of yeah chinchillas do bad with heat. When we asked what we could do to cool him down or try to keep him alive she responded with "there's no way I could tell without looking at the animal. And the vet isn't in today and even if he was we aren't seeing anyone until the 20th." At this time it was very far away from the 20th. She did not at any point suggest any type of emergency service, anyone else to call, or any steps to try to take. An absolute lack of emotion in her voice would have been preferable to the boredom borderline on annoyance in her tone when she responded to anything. If you are looking for a vet to tell you what to do without any explanation, then Chuckanut Valley Vet will be a good fit for you. I prefer to get informed of their assessment, told of treatment options, and be given the choice to decide what is best for my pet/myself. The vets here are very much "this is what's going on and you will do this." I have never been given options or alternatives by this vet clinic. I have never been informed of possible side effects of medication prescribed to my pet. It seems to me that their approach to vet care is to treat problems with medicine and move on, not to care preventatively or in a way that assesses the entire health and well-being of the animal. This approach is good for some pet owners, however, it is not good for all. It's not what I was looking for, but I had no idea prior to establishing care here that it was their approach. Hope this helps someone else make the best decision for themselves and their pet. read more

This place has the most amazing caring staff in the state of Washington! We have brought our cats here for years! We have had two of our kids brought here to have them put to sleep. The staff were very caring and even cried with us. I received a sympathy card from the office and each person wrote in it and commented about my cats specifically. I moved from Missouri and had to find my medically complex dog a new primary vet. The facility was nice and clean and not busy for a Friday morning. I felt the exam was thorough and the staff were super nice. The vet took time to head his complicated medical history and listen to my concerns. They expelled his glands and cut his toenails during the visit too! Maybe my last vet was cheap, but I felt like the prices were fair if not a little expensive. Brought in my cat to be spayed. No one ever called as they said they would after her surgery. She spent the night and no one even called the next day in regards to picking her up. A week later she was having issues that were concerning. Called the office and they said a tech would get back to us. Never did. I brought them a rather difficult task of getting my dog ready for some last minute international travel. They were more than accommodating with my urgent needs and especially caring when we were presented with the possibility that our dog would not be able to travel with us. I'm so happy it turned out the way it did and I truly appreciate the extra steps everyone at the clinic took in our case. This place is the best I've been to in a long time. They tried very hard to give our 9 year old chihuahua a chance at a little extra comfort and life. We all new what could happen with a simple procedure that could go either way. They gave us a week before bring her back in to do it. All was going well but it was too much stress on her and she ended up passing. But at least they were willing to try for her and us to possibly give her comfort and a little extra time. And in that I thank you. We just had to try to do anything that could possibly work for her without going straight to euthanasia. I was there for her passing in my arms. Everyone gave us comfort. The staff was great the first time and the second time. They all worked well together. Prices were good not overly expensive. I would highly recommend this clinic. I don't care who owns it, it's who works there and there passion for being a Veternarian. Thank you all. read more

This place is ridiculous - I have taken my dogs here for a while and given them chance after chance thinking that I need to be understanding that vet clinics are busy and we all can miss things and I wanted to have Grace. However.... They changed my senior dogs prescription without even notifying me to HALF the dosage, which to him was a LOT because it was his strongest pain pill that he NEEDS desperately. Even the pharmacist advised this was not wise. The staff can't figure out how to fax a simple prescription to Costco to get filled and I have to spend a minimum of an hour on the phone back and Forth every time I need a refill. They refuse to refill my prescription (they declined it @the pharmacy when I tried to refill it and NO ONE even bothered to call me) after 3 months if I haven't brought my dog in for a visit, but give no reminders or noticed that he's even due. Then they finally, after a fight, and me having to wait 3.5 weeks for the next available appt- refill it but with the WRONG dosage again! So now he will run out yet again prior to being seen which they require for getting the prescription. My other dog, a puppy at the time, was badly injured quite unexpectedly and they refused to see him and sent me to the emergency vet clinic which has a 4 hour wait. Since when can an appointment for some vaccines or a simple checkup not get moved back by an hour so they can help an EMERGENCY. ?! This baffles me. Especially because I have FOUR dogs that see this clinic on a regular basis and can't even explain how much money I give them for all of their care. If a vet clinic called me and said they'd have to push back my simple checkup for my dog due to someone coming in with an emergency and injured puppy I would say OF COURSE! Not a problem! I will be going anywhere else but here. It's a complete $hitshow! read more

When I made the appointment for my new kitten I was told a $50 deposit was required which would go toward the bill, so I didn't mind paying that. Then a day or 2 later I got an email telling me that if I was more than 5 minutes late, I would have to reschedule. I didn't plan on being late, but life gets in the way sometimes. I have to drive about 25 miles from Acme to Burlington, and I got behind a slow moving truck and didn't get there in time. I was about 8 mins late. The caregiver staying with my husband said that they called at 6 mins after, saying I would have to reschedule! When I pulled in I had to first call and announce that I was there, and that took time to find the number to call, as it wasn't posted outside as done at many other stores and Dr offices. Then I was told to come on in, after I gave my name and pet's name, only to be told that they wouldn't see us! I pleaded with them to take us, as it had been a traumatic experience for both of us to get there--meowing all the way! And there were only 2 people in the large waiting area. I said that I would wait longer to get squeezed in. They said not possible, that they were 'double booked'! And what about the deposit? I lost it--they keep it! What kind of scam operation are they running? And why are they 'double booking'? Sounds like bad practice to me. I found another vet! read more

On Friday around 11:30 am I got a call from home telling me that my Boxer refuses to stand and was vomiting. I rushed home and put him in the car and drove to the closest vet office which was Chuckanut valley veterinary office. I left my dog in the car and walked inside. There was not a single person in the waiting room. Just beyond the desk there were several people laughing and talking. It sounded like a company luncheon. I was greeted by a young woman at the front desk. I told her about my dog's symptoms. She asked if I had an appointment. I told her I did not, as his symptoms were sudden. She asked a few routine questions and then advised that she could see him the following day. She then proceeded to ask " Do you to set an appointment to diagnose him or just have him euthanized, I mean, he is pretty old" Keep in mind, she has not seen my dog. All she had to do is tell me that they didn't have time to see him and recommend I see an "emergency" vet. I made a few phone call from the parking lot and found the Emergency Vet in west side Mt. Vernon. They got me right in and found he had a virus. An hour of my time, few RX, and some bed rest for my dog and he is right back to normal. read more

This veterinary has been very helpful with our 2 dogs. They have helped us do annual check ups in a timely manner and when 1 of our puppies has ear infection was able to drop them off in AM and pick up by noon they were quick in being able to us. Friendly staff! read more

We've now moved to where my mom lives so my family has had more opportunities to visit Chuckanut Veterinary Clinic. I continue to be impressed! Caring staff, good prices, excellent care...what's not to like? Other than the fact you are having to take your pet to the vet of course. Our irritating cat's story of how he came to live with us when he was about 4 months old is pretty special. The hard part is that he was already an established outside cat who just suffered when made to stay in. When we moved to Sedro Woolley, his first thing was to check out everything outside. He made one friend and one enemy although they both seemed to enjoy their hissy fits and posturing that never went much further. One day, we got home from a long drive and when my daughter pet him, she felt something gross in his fur. Next thing I know, she's yelling for us because "Lucifur's neck has been ripped open!" Yes, his name is Lucifur and he lives up to it. Anyway, she isn't exaggerating although he's nowhere near Death's door. Off to Chuckanut he goes. They take him right in for observation and then call me with an estimate. I usually catnip him before vet trips and put it in his carrier to keep him calm but I forgot this time so when the male vet tech tried to get him out, he about lost an arm. They didn't hold it against me though and Lucifur liked the lady who took over. He's very opinionated and his likes have nothing to do with anything as far as I can tell on a non-feline level. On an interesting note, Lucifur is my 13 year kid's cat. 100% her cat as in, she is the only one who he behaves for. She can flip him on his back in her lap and hypnotize him. It's hilarious and she's done it since he was a kitten. The staff addressed her as if she had brought him in alone. Discussed his issues and wanted her input. They completely treated her like she was an adult including handing her the bill and paperwork. We encourage adult responsibility with her so this was excellent. He's stayed in since his neck damage and he's behaved much better than the last time (nightmare) we tried to enforce staying indoors. Chuckanut Vet is awesome! I'd highly recommend them! My mom lived an hour away from me and called me upset on a Sunday because her beloved kitty seemed sick. My mom had spent a little too much time on the Internet and was sure kitty had distemper. I looked up a vet with good reviews in the Sedro Woolley area and found Chuckanut Veterinary Clinic and gave them a call to make the appointment. They were ready and waiting for my mom and her cat, treated her and kitty with kid gloves, and didn't charge an arm and a leg even though it was a last minute Sunday appointment. My mom was very grateful and pleased. Kitty was treated for pneumonia and is doing great! read more

Great place. Our dog was in her last weeks when we got there but they were patient and good to us and our beloved pet. The doctor was very knowledgable and a great source of information. We were able to put our trust in her and prices seemed reasonable as veterinary services go. read more

I really like this vet. We live in Oak Harbor and I don't mind the drive because I know I will get great care for my dog. We recently moved to the PNW and have been searching for a vet. We came across Dr. Stevens when our dog was bit by another dog. Since moving here, he has had many trips to the vet. We originally started with one near our home and after a few visit, decided we weren't getting the care we were paying for. I really like that everyone in the Chuckanut office is friendly and that Dr. Stevens actually gets on the floor with my pup and examines him, even if he was there for just a bite. I also think their prices are reasonable. Another great plus is that they are open 7 days a week and for 12 hours or more a day! read more

I've been bringing my best pal (German Shepherd) here for 5 years and don't plan to change even though I moved an hour away. They take amazing care of him and show as much care and compassion as I feel toward him. The staff is super friendly, professional and compassionate. Taking a chicken into a vets office can be a little embarrassing. But when you are attached to an animal, you want to do everything within your power and budget to help ease their pain. I took my two month old Silkie chicken in when she had stopped eating and drinking and was very lethargic. I came from Friday Harbor because the vets here said there was nothing they could do. Even though I'd never been a client of Chuckanut Vet, they squeezed me in on a busy day. Dr. Searle examined her and determined her abdomen was full of too much grit and was compacted. He spent about 45 minutes with us and taught me to do tube feedings so I could help the rocks pass through her digestive system. He also Rx antibiotics and vitamins. He was so thorough and understanding, and I'm happy to say he saved my little hen's life. The bill came to $93 and to me it was worth every penny! I was also amazed at the warm yet professional approach he had to determine what was wrong, what she meant to me, and what our humane capabilities were. Bravo! And thank you! read more

I brought my 9yr old cockatiel Ozzie in to see Dr. Matt Van Winkle for the first time today. (my other vet was not expected to be in the office "till sometime next year" ). I could not be happier with the staff who made my appt over the phone, the staff that greeted me in the parking lot, and Dr Van Winkle himself. He came outside to chat with me about Ozzie's symptoms before the appt. as well as after the appt to discuss remedies. He is very personable and kind and I felt Ozzie was in great hands. I was given medicine, a complete office visit recap, and billing info. The price was very reasonable and although the drive is a bit further, I think from now on Dr. Van Winkle has a permanent new patient on his hands! :) Many thanks for taking care of my beloved pet! read more

Excellent! I just moved here and was nervous about finding a new vet. I had my last vet for over 20 years.. This is a large clinic and very well appointed with everything they could possibly need!
