We have been going to Parker Way for almost six years. They have been able to care for our rabbits and dogs in a loving way. Our dogs do become anxious when they go but the staff are patient and caring. One of our dogs had a double TPLO surgery there and recovered really well. I called today for a male cat neuter estimate. I was given an up-sale of over $400 first and she whittled away at the price to $125, whew that was exhausting. I asked again what a cat neuter would cost without all the extras and I got some horrible attitude. She said she had worked there for 13 years, she was yelling at me at this point, and I remembered why I had stopped visiting this clinic a few years ago, it's office staff. Clearly this clinic is not going to change and upgrade its customer service skills. When I bring my pet in, I'm also your client. Personally, I cannot get past the office staff attitude. I thought giving them a few years to learn and improve might help, but the bottom line is the money line, and I will take my money elsewhere. read more

We've been taking our dogs to Parker way vet since 2015. Always had great service or care for the pups until these past 2 years. Unfortunately, just basic communication is breaking down and now affecting the quality of care for our dogs. A little over a year ago, we took our long hair Chihuahua in due to him being just lethargic. He was 8 1/2years old. The doctor prescribed an nsaid and thought it was maybe arthritis. Two weeks later, jack died while we were on vacation of complete organ shut down due to cancer. We took him in because we were worried about something like this and they could have done an easy blood test, which we asked for and was told it wasn't necessary. Jack suffered alone and we could have been with him his last days. We were heart broken. Today I took Mac in for a teeth cleaning. Not a big deal, he has had these before. He is 12.5years now and appears healthy although high anxiety. New protocol involved us picking up 3 new meds the week before, and we live an hour away. I opted to not use those meds and asked if the cleaning could proceed without them. I was told yes, but he could still be given an anti nausea med if he appeared nausea's. I text that he only be given those meds that were standard. Apparently this meant that I didn't want any pain killers at all. I approved a molar being pulled during the cleaning. I was called and asked to pick him up after 2pm around 11:30am. After 30min, another office worker called and asked if I could come get him earlier. He was awake and having anxiety issues. When I picked him up, I asked the front desk clerk if he needed any pain meds and he said nope. He should be fine. I was a little worried at that point that Mac was likely super anxious because he was in pain. And he was exactly that. He got in the car and cried the whole way home. I had my husband call since I was driving to ask what we can give him when we got home. Someone said they would call him back and they never did. I just got a text at 5pm that I can pick up Carprofen. Again, we are an hour away and they close the office at 6pm so there was no way we'd get it today. Fortunately, I had some Carprofen on hand from another visit that I was able to give Mac as soon as we got home. He is feeling a lot better. Was it really necessary to make him suffer? I have held off on leaving a review to try and give this place an opportunity to redeem themselves but it has only gotten worse. It took three appointments before I actually had the correct diagnosis and my dog started getting better. If it wasn't for me pushing the issue they would of never followed back up. Then, it has been nothing but hassle every time I need to refill the prescription. They want to do blood work every time; seems a little excessive but ok... Then when I go to schedule the appointment they will no longer answer the phone! I called 4 times yesterday and 2 times today. Finally gave up and scheduled with another vet who answered the first time I called! But now, unfortunately, I am pretty much starting over and costing me even more financially! read more

Haven't left a review in a while so bear with me. Back story; My wife and I care about our dog a lot and always want the best for him. He is part of our family and I don't take kindly to and will stand between him and any hostile environment. I have made my best effort to make sure that he knows I am the alpha male, but to no avail he'll tell you different. He's a thinker and watches for threats and will take immediate action. Ok, enough of the humor. Let's get serious. My wife and I have been to Burlington and back in search of a great, not good or sufficient veterinarian but great. One with genuine compassion and thoughtful kindness for our pet. His name is Skittles, he's a small terrier weenie mix. With the biggest attitude that he can muster for his 15 pounds. Dr. Herenbeen calms that attitude when she enters the room. She's very good at what she does, speaks in layman's terms for non medical professionals like me so that we may understand exactly what needs to be or has been done. The veterinarian assistants are friendly and knowledgeable as well. Overall we have no complaints and highly recommend this clinic above all others. They go above and beyond the call of necessity making you feel down home and comfortable. read more

It's doesn't get better than Parker Way Vet Clinic.... they're so good that I drive an hour each way to have my pups and kitty seen by Dr. Broda and Dr. Wolfe. Having English and French Bullsogs requires someone who knows the breed, and they're the experts. Time and time again they have saved me money while never sacrificing care for my pets. Their facility is squeaky clean, staff well trained and appointment are decently available. I soooo wish they were open on Sunday but I understand they need a break. We found Dr Broda when she worked for a different clinic in Lakewood ,Wa This was in the 90's when very few Vets knew anything about ferrets. He was playing one minute and lethargic the next. We rushed him in. She did X-rays and for some unknown reason he had a stomach full of air. He just couldn't expel it She had worked with cows who had the same issue but the tube you need was huge. This was very odd for a ferret. She basically invented a tiny tube and he was able to expel the gas , immediately He had been close to death and he was now back to normal. Unbelievable!!! We always used her for our ferrets after that. We followed her to Mt Vernon when she bought that clinic. She's the best there is. We now have an elder dog and she's helped us so much with his arthritis. You won't find a better Vet anywhere. Plus her prices are much lower than the ones here in Sammamish ! Honestly, this is the only place that I recommend in this area. And the only veterinary clinic where I feel at ease when they take my pets to the back and out of my sight. I brought in my tiny little 15 weeks old kitten who, as it turned out had a burn but was diagnosed in the emergency room with some bruising from a falling object. Almost $700 and 8 hours later I left that ER thinking that my kitten might have a fractured foot :( It was swelling up bad. I am so glad that this was detected and he can take antibiotics to help him heal faster. I really mulled over leaving this review. Times are incredibly stressful..for everyone, but ultimately I felt that the complete and utter breakdown of communication and accountability I experienced could possibly cost an animal it's comfort or even life. So I decided to write this. Parker Way came very highly recommended to me. My BC broke a tooth off at the gum line in 2020 and the vet I had at the time refused to even look at it without having me agree to sedation, films and possibly extraction. No way. So I went to Parker way for their free dental consultation. The brunette female doctor I interacted with was exceptional. Her communication, her handling, etc...I was very pleased and couldn't wait to return, as recommended in 2021 for a dental. Unfortunately that's when things went downhill. I made my appointment and was asked about vaccinations needed. I told them I was fairly certain her rabies was good, but that they would need to call my previous vet for the exact date. When I was on my way to the appointment I called ahead, handsfree as I was driving, to verify they weren't giving her any shots, since her rabies was up to date. The woman I spoke to at reception, I do not know her name, said she would call Banfield and remove the rabies from her paperwork because it hadn't been done. I apologized for not having physical paperwork and for her having to make a phone call then and there. She said "...not a problem, do it all the time! See you soon!" When I got there rabies was still listed on her paperwork, I called the same woman over to clarify and then made sure I selected and signed the box that said ONLY the dental services. She took my dog back, everything seemed fine, I went about my day. Around 2 or 3 I called them because I hadn't heard anything. They said Penny was done, resting and that they were unable to leave a message on my voicemail. I asked them to clarify my number because it had been on me all day and I had been waiting for pickup information. The woman I spoke to this time was different, seemed irritated and told me penny could be picked up in a couple hours. I sent my husband to pick her up while I stayed with our toddlers. He brought her back, she seemed a little more lethargic than usual and threw up, not unusual, wasn't too concerned. When he handed me the paperwork there was a rabies tag attached to it. She had been given an additional 3 year rabies vaccine one year after her previous 3 year rabies vaccine. I was livid. I called the clinic back and asked why this had been done!? I was very clear, repeatedly she was up to date and didn't need it! I was told that the girl whom I spoke to in the morning tried to call banfield and they didn't answer and it was on her paperwork. I then stated that I wanted the rabies charges removed (it was inexpensive, only $30) and I wanted to know why the woman I spoke to hadn't removed it. I got a call back a little later, the story had changed! She said that Banfield wasn't sure if it was a one year or a three year. I immediately called them, spoke to the receptionist she had called and explained the situation. She said that their records were clear, she received a 3 year in april of 2020 and that was what she communicated to the Parker Way employee. I called back, shared this information and asked for a veterinarian to call me back. I stated that as a groomer of 18 years (i have worked across the US while my husband was in the service...for shops, boarding facilities and clinics), I was not concerned about vaccinosis. I was more concerned about the complete breakdown of communication and the fact that this employee kept changing her story and shifting the blame. To me that was unacceptable. I eventually received a call that i missed and a voicemail (the vet had no issues leaving one herself). The voicemail assured me Penny would have no negative reactions and dogs are over vaccinated all the time (something I am aware of through years of volunteering with rescues). She did not address or comment on any of the issues or concerns I had with her employee. So for me, at the end of the day, there was a glaring lack of accountability here and a grievous breakdown of communication. For my dog it was a rabies shot, but the next dog it could be something worse. I was very disappointed in how the situation played out and was handled. I know this had been an incredibly hard year for everyone and had the employee taken responsibility and apologized for her error, I would have understood, accepted that and moved on. We all make mistakes. It is dangerous to have an employee that cannot acknowledge them....because they will not ever fix the behavior that led to it to begin with. I wish them the best and I am so glad they have many happy customers....I truly wish I could be one of them:( read more

They've saved my cat's life. My Vet is Dr Wolfe, and she is amazing. I'm sure the other vets are amazing as well, however I have dealt only with Dr Wolfe. She quickly diagnosed what was wrong with my cat, and even took it upon herself to do some extra work on him (we had agreed to it) to figure out what was wrong as she was quite worried about what was wrong with him and wanted to confirm her suspicions. The diagnosis is an illness that is more fatal than not; however, Dr Wolfe recommended a medicine that could quite possibly save his life. Its been a few weeks while I've used this medicine, and my cat went from lethargic and barely able to lift his head, to running, jumping, and playing! Dr Wolfe even called my phone and talked to me personally when I told the receptionist that I had a question about my cat's health and if she reccomended various things when it came to his treatment. Please note; Parkerway does not recieve any of the money from the medicine. This vet definitely cares more about the animal than the money, and that means so much to me. This is the best vet I have ever been to, and because of them, my cat is getting better. read more

Gosh these people are so nice. I'm really looking forward to coming back. I called them because it came highly recommended by a local pet hospital. Our previous vet removed 26 out of the 27 staples from our puppy's shoulder which was pretty hidden and I didn't notice until the next morning. Considering they were 30 minutes away, I called Parker Way (4 minutes away) to see if they can help us. Over the phone they were sooo nice and were able to get us in same day. The vet tech was very sweet as well and did us this huge favor right there in the parking lot (covid didn't allow us inside). I'm so grateful and really looking forward to returning here. I love this vet clinic and this is the only place I take my English bulldog because Dr. Brieda is so good with the breed. My dog had a chronic tail infection that other vets wanted to either charge 5k to fix or said they weren't comfortable doing the surgery because of the complexity of his deeply inverted tail. Dr. Brieda was confident that she could do the surgery with no problem at all. Nobody ever even notices that my dog doesn't have a tail because of great of a job she did. I also only had to pay about $700 compared to the $5000 I was quoted by VCA in Lynwood. read more

I rescue feral cats and I made an appt to get this kitten fixed and all the shots he would need to not die if he has to be returned to the wild. The shots the kittens get have to get a booster after 3 weeks. So I brought him in 3 weeks later to get his last set of shots thinking, "well, now he's ready to find a home" only to be told for some reason the receptionist had decided he doesn't need one of the three and while they could do that one (that for some reason they just skipped, even though I told them he would need all his shots) and I could bring him BACK in in 3 MORE WEEKS. Who's is this receptionist, you ask, and why does she get to make decisions counter to what you specifically asked for? I DONT FUCKING KNOW! And neither do they, know or care because when I tried to explain what had happened the person I was talking to just blew me off. Honestly I don't know why I bring animals here. Last year I called and said I thought I needed to bring my cat in because of all these symptoms, that I listed and someone told me that sounds like FIV the very contagious cat version of AIDS. The receptionist told me she didn't have ROOM ON HER NOTEPAD TO WRITW THE SYPTOMS DOWN but she would have the vet call me back. About what, you ask since she didn't write why I was calling. Well 4 HOURS LATER (called on lunch at 11, had not received a call back by 3 when I got off). So I miss the call back driving home. She said absolutely nothing helpful because she had no idea what the problem was because fucking KIM couldn't take a message. Called back but they wouldn't put me through, while I waited 30 minutes until they hung up on me, called back and waited another 15 before I hung up. In case anyone cares about the end of this story my 6 month old cat was experiencing heart failure! Thanks Parker Way, you are the best! Took my German Shepard to Parker way vet as she has been going there for a little over a year now. Well due to COVID 19 you can no longer go inside with your pet. I paid for several shots, her exam, flea medication, an her nails to be cut. I also asked about her back 2 paws that had been bloody an irritated, once they brought her out to my husband an the lady said well the doctor didn't see anything when she cut her nails. At that point he left, thinking everything was ok. Once they got home I looked at her paws an sure enough they were all full of blood. How does a doctor not see this or even let your fur baby even leave the clinic like that? I am so upset at this clinic. I have called them an asked to speak to the doctor that saw her an they said it was doc. Wolf an she is with a patient an will call me back. Our last visit to Parker way was not very good either an i to then had to call an speak with a nurse about my dogs visit an they had to credit me. I hate to write a bad review for a veterinary clinic, and wouldn't if our last several experiences with them were not awful. We had an emergency situation with two of our pets (on separate occasions), and the reception staff had a "meh, not our problem" attitude. No concern, no compassion, just a "don't bother us, we're busy" attitude. We were established clients there and were experiencing what seemed to be life-threatening symptoms in our pets, and the reception staff seriously did not seem to care AT ALL. We had to call around to other vets and each and every one of them (four, to be exact) sounded concerned and tried to accommodate us with a next-day appointment or a drop-off. Not Parker Way. I was told by one of the staff that "due to the pandemic, they are seeing patients from other clinics that are not open, so they are very busy." Not cool to turn away an established client in order to build your business. Also, there's an advertised "50 percent off" for new patients on their website; it would seem that building clientele is now more important for Parker Way than is taking care of established clients. read more

Our cat has chronic sinus issues and she too has been cared for better than any other vet office in the 10 years we've shared her life. You won't get anything but good solid kind care at Parkerway. I took my sick rabbit in for a second opinion. They told me the dosage of medication she was on was way too high. Then they performed a barium study but stopped it after 3 hours, which is way to short. It would take 36 hours to pass through a rabbit's system. They referred me to an emergency clinic for surgery. Fortunately, they were really familiar with rabbits and explained that the medication dosage was appropriate, she did not need surgery and the barium study was not helpful. It was so frustrating since I was concerned that she was near death. They are not as rabbit savvy as they claim to be. They did waive the fee on one of the X-rays they performed for me which was helpful read more

This place is really great; the folks (clerks, veterinarians and Vet-techs) were very all knowledgeable, friendly and have been quick to attend to my dog (Sasha) everytime we've made a visit. These guys are incredible. I initially brought my iguana in, she had to have a piece of her tail amputated due to an injury. They were able to fit me in on an emergency basis, perform the service and get me out of the building for a 1/3 of what I expected to pay, or less. They followed up with me, and were understanding when I decided to remove sutures myself instead of take her in to have it done. Again, when my little dog needed to go to the vet, they fit me in on short notice when convienant with my schedule since I come from Oak Harbor. Worth the trip. About a year ago, I took my step fathers Beagle to a animal hospital because he got attacked by a pitbull and his gash under his arm was getting infected. He started getting a fever and would of died if I didnt get it taken care of that day or the next. Well, they charged me $90.00 to just look at him and give him antibiotics and told me they would not do anything further if I did not pay them $400.00 so he get anestheic and have a tube put in. I went to my work crying and asking everyone I knew that had money if I could borrow $400.00. No one was able to help me and I thought we were going to lose our family dog. My boss had a beagle too that had to go to the vet litterally every other week because she had anxiety problems and my boss told me to go to Parker Way Veterinary Clinic in Mount Vernon, WA. She promised me that I would not be paying an arm and a leg and that these people care more about your animal then money. I of course did not believe her because of the animal hospital experience. We went to Parker Way Veterinary Clinic and the desk clerk did a quick check in and after all that was done they asked me to wait outside and that they were going to take a look at it. About 5-10 minutes later they brought my dog out with tubes stapled in and it only cost me $100.00. They also let me pay for the bill when my check came in a couple days later. To have the staples removed cost me nothing. A year later my fiance and I were blessed to get the last baby girl of his friends dogs litter. She is blue heeler, border collie and lab. So she loves to play with just about anything. One day she decided to play with a 12 inch long 2x2 board. She does this thing were she will let what ever she is playing with stick in the ground and she will gag herself. Well this 2x2 had a nail in it and we didnt know. She let it stick into the ground at a full run and cracked her left side insizer. I took her in and the assistant looked at it and said it could be a baby tooth and that it could just fall out in a few days (that was free). So we made an appointment for a couple days later. The tooth was stubborn and did not want to come out. So I took her in to have it removed. They did the quick check in again and I was informed on how much it would cost me. At that point I had CareCredit (YES! they accept CareCredit!!!) So i didnt mind on how much it was going to cost me. To have her get a light anesthetic, get the tooth pulled, get the check up and to have an arthritis starter pack was lower then $150.00. I had to leave her for a couple of hours and when i went to pick her up she was still a little loopy. I was scared that she would be mad at me (she has a fascinating personality). An hour after leaving the vet she was back to chasing her tail and swimming after her favorite toy. Alan also took out the other side. My assumption is because that one was also cracked or they knew it would make her teeth grow in crooked. its been 4 days since the surgery and her grown up teeth are growing in. Thank you Parker Way Veterinary Clinic for helping two of my animals. Without you all, I would be lost when it comes to caring for my animals. I almost lost my little girl today because of a misdiagnosis at a clinic who seem to care much more about spaying/neutering at any cost and creating a huge bill than they care about the animals they are supposed to be treating. She was having difficulty breathing, and having discovered that she has a heart murmur, they wouldn't listen to anything I was trying to tell them and were certain they'd discovered the problem. They charged me over a hundred dollars - every penny that I had at the time except for $8 which bought me enough gas to get her back home - sent me home with medication for her heart and a blanket antibiotic, and I followed their treatment instructions and waited. She didn't improve during the night nor the next morning, and by early afternoon, it was obvious that she was getting worse. Their advice was to wait a while longer to give the medication a chance to work. Had I followed that advice, I'd be burying her right now. Instead, I got on the phone, and called the listings for every vet in the immediate area that I could, and kept hearing the same things: they were booked for the entire day, but I could go to the emergency clinic with her, and when I called the emergency clinic, I discovered that was only an option if you had access to large amounts of cash or a credit card with plenty of room on it, and being disabled and on a fixed income, I had neither. I called a friend in tears as I watched her gasp for air, dying slowly before my eyes. My friend told me to call Dr. Alan's office, and when I did, everything changed. They didn't tell me they were booked for the day, and didn't ask if I had any money. They asked what the symptoms were and told me to bring her in immediately. I had to stop twice on the way because I was by myself, and she stopped breathing entirely. Both times, I was successful in getting her to breathe on her own, but it was a long drive, and obvious that I was running out of time. I frantically fought the tears that threatened to force me to pull over until I could see to drive again the entire distance, and I begged - both her and God - to please let her hold on just a little longer. I scooped her up and raced inside, and my heart fell - the waiting room was packed, and I was sure it was all over, but Kim looked over and saw us there, and immediately asked if we were in trouble. The tears finally burst free, and I couldn't even answer, but that was all the answer she needed. She ran to get Julie, who immediately took us straight back to Dr. Broda, and they went to work. It turns out that the culprit was a swollen and inflamed tonsil that had been slowly closing off her airway, and the medication she had been given couldn't have worked quickly enough to keep her from suffocating, but a prednisone and 15 mins for it to work on the swelling, and she was just fine again! Throughout all of this, not a word was mentioned about paperwork or money. I was somewhat worried about how I would be able to cover a bill that big, but I was determined to find a way, no matter what I had to do or sell. And then I was presented with the bill itself - for $23!! I didn't have the money even for that on me, but was able to come up with it by making a phone call or two, and tonight, my little girl is sleeping in her usual spot on the side of my bed where she always does, and is resting comfortably, and I'll be perfectly happy to listen to it if she snores this loud all night long!!! I had begun to think that there were no longer vets - at least in this area - who truly cared more about people and their beloved furry friends than about how much they could make off of them, but there is at least one office here where the living things take precedence, and though I've yet to actually meet Dr. Alan, I'm looking forward to it very much, and I won't entrust my previous furballs any place else again! I can never express the depth of the gratitude I feel for the warm, caring, and knowledgeable way they turned what was so close to becoming an evening of shock, loss, and overwhelming grief into the joyous and peaceful time it is instead, and I would recommend that anyone who truly loves their furry family members and wants the best care for them bring them here to make sure that's exactly what they'll get!!! And once again, a million times thank you to Dr. Broda, Kim, Julie, and all of the staff there for giving me the gift of even one more day of being loved by this fuzzy little creature!! I am very pleased with the diagnosis and treatment my cat received. The staff was very friendly. The doctor explained treatment clearly both before and after surgery. There was even a phone call to check on my cat the day after the surgery. Best of all the cat is doing much better now. read more

We are new to Skagit County, and had a very sick dog. We knew we would need to have her euthanized. I called around to various veterinarians in the Skagit Valley, and found that Parker Way Veterinary was reasonable priced. So I set up an appointment, and was able to bring our dog in very quickly. Dr. Broda has just finished surgery, but had time to work with us. The check in process was fairly simple, and Dr. Broda came out to our car and met us. She assessed the situation, and communicated with us about every step she was performing. Her compassion and calm demeanor was very positive and powerful (and as one who works in the cemetery/funeral profession and understands this type of demeanor, I was extremely impressed). We sadly had to put our dog to sleep, but Dr. Broda continued to explain what she was doing. We left Parker Way Veterinary feeling that we had been given Dr. Broda's undivided attention, and will plan to use her services with the other pets we have. read more

Three of the cats have had significant medical issues, and they were all resolved quickly and effectively. I was especially impressed that Dr. Broda diagnosed infections in two cats who were in very bad condition, bringing them back to health in a matter of days. Good caring service -- Dr. Broda and Dr. Williams spend time with you. They do lots of testing on site, so you can often get results the same day. Prices are reasonable. I've been going to Parker Way for about 15 years and have always found the staff and doctors to be knowledgeable, kind and considerate. they continue to improve too! Now have good online access to records, appointments, upcoming shots, etc. They have also been unusually helpful and calming during extremely stressful times, such as a possible surgery, a life threatening accident, a time for an end of life talk. This is a great vet clinic. We have had 3 dogs over the past 23 years and have used Parker Way for all 3. Dr. Williams is very knowledgeable about vet care and has given us great advice on the care of our dogs. When one of our dogs was coming to the end of his life we called the clinic over a holiday weekend to make an apt to have him put down on the next business day and Dr. Williams came in over the long weekend, opened his clinic for us and ended the pain our dog was in. He even took him to his property for burial. This was over and above the call of duty. We would not go anywhere else! read more

We have used Parker Way as our long term vet services. they are like an extended family to us. Over the years they have tended to many of our animals some deceased. they are always so kind, generous with their time, and have been so successful at accommodating us and our pets needs-be it routine or emergent.
