I do not know the questions they were waiting on but I was told that if I want the sidewalk fixed I need to tear out the sidewalk first and THEN ask for a root inspection to see if the offending roots can be cut out and if not then a tree removal permit can be filed again. On a separate note: I would advise anyone thinking of planting a street tree in Portland to reconsider due to the long term expense of dealing with the inevitable sidewalk damage and upkeep. That $75 per tree at the time from Friends of Trees has cost me thousands so far and will cost thousands more in concrete repair and is never ending. Once you plant one you can't remove it without replacing it and starting the cycle again.

Quality Performance was used to trim a laurel hedge and remove a tree on the property line with my…read moreneighbors. The trimming and tree removal went fine, but they neglected to trim about 6 ft of the laurel hedge. In the written estimate that all parties agreed to it stated "reduce laurel to 10ft." When I called Quality Performance to discuss finishing the laurel job they explained that the whole hedge was not part of the estimate. I explained that nowhere in the estimate did it say they would not trim back the entire hedge. They began blaming my neighbor for the miscommunication when it is Quality Performance's responsibility to clearly indicate what is to be completed in the estimate. When I read "reduce laurel to 10ft" I assumed that meant the entire hedge and not a partial job. The worst part of working with this company was their customer service. What is clearly their responsibility they turned back around on me and my neighbors and were not open to listening or making the situation right. I will not work with this company again and I recommend anyone deciding to use them to be extremely clear in their written communication about what is to be completed in the job.

His bid came in nearly half the price of the others. He answered all of my questions with patience, kindness, and 40 years of experience that showed. The work was scheduled quickly and the entire team including Roman and Abel were professional and respectful. They understood that I work from home and accommodated all of my requests. They worked with me on how to position their trucks in my yard and did everything I asked. They did great work pollarding my trees and cleaned up nicely when they were finished.
