This was back in 2010 until 2015, they ruined my parents financially. I can't speak to their buying/selling real estate, but don't go to them for renting. My sister moved back with my parents and rented out her house to save some money for a year. They were forced to fix many things prior to moving out (which is fine and understandable). Steve does video run-throughs of the house before people move in, this is important because we NEVER saw those videos again even when we asked for them. The house was returned in disarray and many things we had fixed(and then some) were ruined. When we asked Steve about this and the security deposit, of course he has no evidence that these things were broken in the first place by the sublets. Two years later, my parents use him to rent out THEIR house. I was livid, told them not to do it, told them to get copies of everything for their records, including the video tape. They dismissed me because I was still young in college(listen to the young folks sometimes, being in college forced me to learn to be a renter, I knew what I was doing as nobody else in my family had rented a day in their lives). They pulled the same shit with my parents. They played them and now he keeps sending us letters about how they appreciate our business. They are kind individuals, but they will play on the disadvantaged, trust me on that. We were convinced they took the security deposit too, because the family that moved in was nice and we kept getting their mail, we kept in contact and they apologized for the broken items(they're dogs messed up the carpets and screen doors), they hoped the security deposit covered it........well we never saw a penny from the deposit. When my Father passed away in October of 2019, I was in charge of selling our family home which was in the family since 1955. Choosing the right realtor was extremely important to me because of all of the wonderful family memories I have there! We met with several realtors and even received a couple of as-is cash offers from "flippers". But, right from the onset, we were very impressed with Steve's knowledge of home sales in the area, his suggestions for what we should do before putting it on the market and his contacts with various "handymen" that helped us to fix up the home. Steve had a very down to earth attitude and knew we could get more than the flippers offered with a little fix up. He suggested things we should do which we did. I am the owner and manager of Katalac Escrow and have been an escrow professional in the San Diego area for 16 years. For years I closed escrows with The Markley's and while doing so discovered just how important it was to have them on your team and in your corner whether buying, selling, or leasing a property. This team is on top of an escrow even before the ink on the contract is dry enough to scan and email. We met Steve in 1997 when he knocked on our door and introduced himself and gave us some cookies. We really liked Steve when we met him, he was very personable, funny and really knew his stuff. In 2002, we decided to sell our home and purchase a new home and the first person we thought of was Steve. At the time we knew we wanted to have some land but wasn't sure where exactly we wanted to live. Steve took us everywhere from Bonita to Dulzura, with no complaints, he was a trooper. We finally found our home in Spring Valley. Steve and Debbie took care of everything, we had nothing to worry about. If we had any questions he was there to answer them. Recently we decided to buy another house and of course thought of Steve and Debbie. We just bought our second house with Steve in Lakeside in June 2017. Currently, the market is OUT OF CONTROL. Every house we looked at already had many offers within a couple of days. Unfortunately, we were on a time crunch so we needed Steve to give us 100% of his attention, which he did. We had approximately one month to find a house and we did. Not only did he find a house for us but he found our dream house. The house went on the market Friday morning, Steve took us to view it and we put in an offer. There were 15-20 offers by Sunday so they took the house off the market. With this many offers, we were skeptical that we would get it. I sold my home myself but even though his customer found my ad on zillow and showed it to him he made me pay him a commission or he would not bring his client. Most buyers/sellers do not realize that in CA the seller pays the commission to representing agents no matter how good or bad they are. He missed deadlines that would have allowed me to cancel the sale. I had backup contracts but liked the military family who bought the house did not select this option. He was rude, acted like the house was his, called his worker "my Mexican" to his face and in front of me. Blamed his wife if something wasn't done. Do not use this man! read more

I sold my house through Steve and Debbie, then a couple months later I bought a house through them. When I sold my house I first spoke to another realtor who offered to help me invest in some repairs to my house to get a higher sales value. Unfortunately the contractor they wanted to use would spend two months (pretty much just do it as a side job). Well me losing two months worth of mortgage would have negated the benefit. I called Steve. Steve decided that the best possible way would be to market my house to someone who would flip it instead of wasting my time and money. He marketed it well and in the course of seven days he got a hundred inquries which we scaled down to about 26 offers which we scaled down to 6. He got me about $20,000 more than anybody else would have. A couple months later I was interested in investing my profit into a new home so I contacted Steve and within a week he walked me into the perfect house. I begged my girls to let us look at some more which we did but it was too late Steve showed us the perfect house to begin with. We placed an offer below the asking price and Steve was able to get our asking price plus got the seller to include the appliances and the TV mounting hardware as well as some money for a few minor repairs and a one-year warranty on the house.
