I am a real estate broker/property manager & property owner (for the past 40 years) in Los Angeles who needed a property manager in San Diego for my Dad's rental condo, after moving my 88 year old Dad, up to LA to live with me. Poor customer service ! I spoke to Wendy and the screening process was awful ! I called in for a property and when she asked for my credit score I told her I didn't know because the apartment I'm renting now is privately owned and she did not check my credit . She answered you don't know ? ( I felt like she thought I was lying ) I honestly don't know . I did tell her that a year ago I was renting from an apartment complex they did check my credit and everything was fine . They have 2 different numbers listed . On Zillow an 858 (are code they listed) but if you go in to the website they have a (619) just uncomfortable with all this . Properties like this you just don't want to deal with . Also the listing has been on the site for more than 30 days!! Not a good sign . Seems like Wendy not doing or trying to rent this place . They lost a good tenant! I have very good references! It turns out it's one of the best decisions I've ever made. Jim almost immediately raised the rents and guided me to what was needed to make them more rentable. When dealing with Jim get your conversations in writing and NEVER delete and correspondence with him. I found him to be untrustworthy and petty. And god forbid you call him out on something he'll hold that against you and may even threaten you with court. Dealing with issues in the house where I lived and there were plenty was practically non existent. Cleanliness became and remained an issue regardless how many times Jim was informed. Was told a cleaning lady would be by weekly she only was there once a month. Not an issue on her part but when the other don't clean up well it's an issue. CAUTION!!! Get it in writing. The owner broker James Schlesinger is not a very trustworthy person. He showed me a property that I wanted to rent and when he found out that Section 8 was involved he reluctantly agreed to accept it because of the new income discrimination law. When I mentioned about the application and $50 fee he assured me that I could wait until after he spoke to my Section 8 case worker to verify what I had already told him, I was pre-approved and qualified for the $2000 rent. I emailed him the forms as he requested and the following morning he informed me that he decided to rent it to someone else that came later that day. Beware that this man is not a man of his word. My assistant was with me and she was even more shocked and disturbed when she learned of his actions. He doesn't even deserve a one star rating. read more

In 2011, MCP rented that house for us. They found great tenants that take good care of the property. After the second year they increased the rent. MCP takes care of any issues such as repairs and they provide timely reports. We have also bought two other properties through MCP. Jim (the owner) takes the time to find properties that match our needs and helped us during the negotiation process. He uses deposits that legally should be returned to fix what is the landlords responsibility when moving out. Horrible experience! Aside the fact that he enjoys using the tenants deposit for pre existing conditions in unit. He has a nasty attitude very unprofessional. He sends the cheapest without licenses to fix issues and the work ends up worse than the original issue. When speaking to a female he turns to the husband to respond. He lies and he is very tricky with his contract. Make sure that you take the necessary time to fully read the contract with him prior to signing your life to the devil! Be careful with this guy! Rented from this company and had the worst experience with the repairs and the hired help. Took off safety feature in water heater so it would start. Had to get SDGE out to red tag before it was properly fixed. Then we had water damage after a storm, I was fearful that the same people would do repairs and feared mold. Expressed concerns with Realtor Jim who even started owner didn't want to spend any money. My children's health became the issue. No empathy on situation and even received several threats when we held rent in order to move out. Even though there was a $2500 deposit. Not a renter friendly company. Had to hire an attorney and even after settling realtor held on to checks and then dinged credit even though we moved out on the 12th and paid back rent. Had three different service men over for different reason ranging from water heater to electric and then the mold. We also had an unsafe chimney that we luckily knew to get cleaned and they stated not to use its a fire hazard. No working air conditioning. Electric system kept shorting and termites as well as rotted window sills . Blinds we thought at first were yellow were in fact old and discolored. This company is not in the business for finding homes but making owners happy and that includes even neglect and poor management. One of the plumbers that came over to fix sink came over with his girlfriend who was wearing house slippers and he had no tools with him. He asked to borrow tools. A month later Someone tried to break into our garage and my teenage daughter was home and luckily the dog next door and neighbor next door scared them away. When I spoke with Jim after he informed me that that handyman is no longer working for him. The next handyman he sent told me off record that he didn't think Jim would spend the money. And that a lot of the properties he works on are in poor condition. These are all facts and true to the best of my ability and I would not recommend renting from them read more

Jim is great! He's been my property manager for almost 2 years now and I am still very impressed with his work. Jim is a friendly guy who really does care about both the owner and the tenant. Jim is very knowledgable about renter law and has no problem abiding by it. If I have any problems, I can call his personal cell phone or email him and expect to hear back from him (typically) that day. I admire his level of integrity and ability to respond to our needs (as tenants) in a timely manner. We've had multiple issues in our apartment this year and Jim has always provided us with exceptional services from outside employees (plumbers, carpet repair, etc). I've rented with Mission Center for nearly two years and have had quite a few positive experiences. For example, we have had several problems with the A/C and Jim is always quick to have someone come out to fix it so that we don't have to deal with the heat. In addition, we had a pipe burst in our attic and they quickly had someone come out to repair the pipe to avoid any damage to our belongings or the house. They also offered to have someone clean the carpet afterwards to be sure that we were happy with the results. And they are very responsive and have always gotten back to us about any concerns very quickly. I appreciate their willingness to communicate and respond to anything that might come up.
