As a tea drinker, I was happy to pay for quality tea--Harvey & Sons, as opposed to god awful Lipton or any cheap grocery store brand. Cappuccino is always delicious--so smooth and rich. I am not a coffee drinker, but even I enjoyed it. Per menu, all sandwiches are served with chips, pickle, and slaw. No idea why we got a sandwich without anything on the side. The New Yorker sandwich is expensive, at $15, for NJ standards. The lox is fresh and tender, so at least the sandwich is delicious. You choose what bread you want it on. On a bagel, you will be full for the bigger portion of your day. On a croissant, you will enjoy the delicate texture and flavor profile. Treat yourself, get fancy, and get it on a croissant. Pastry selection varies, so try their seasonal assortment. Almond croissant was tasty--not too sweet, which is a tricky line with almond croissants. Steven's Cafe is the best coffee shop around. The almond croissant is out of this world and taste like a pastry made out of some fancy European bakery. The almond past filling is insane and I would eat this every day if I could. Now when it comes to coffee, you cannot beat the iced caramel macchiato. Stopped here for dessert and a glimpse of the city view one night after dinner. The staff was super friendly and we stopped by about an hour before closing. We got a hot chocolate and a decaf cappuccino. The cappuccino tasted like pure water to me, not very good. The hot chocolate was alright, tasted powdery. Nothing special really. We also got some treats. They have bags of popcorn out with fun flavors. I got a fruit medley flavor and that was delicious. (Low calorie too!) I also got 4 macaroons and 2 eclairs. I got the Nutella and my boyfriend got just regular vanilla creme. He wasn't too thrilled with his and I thought mine was actually pretty good. The Nutella creme was great, the nuts on top were fresh and crunchy. The macaroons fell super short for me. The actual treat itself was baked perfectly, perfect size but the flavors just weren't there at all. The pistachio was bland, the strawberry poppy actually tasted bad to me. I ended up just buying the rest and tossing them. This place definitely has some good options, I don't know if it was a freshness issue or not but some pastries are great and some just fall short. read more

I'm honestly surprised I have the self control to not visit Steven's everyday. It's my go-to bagel spot; The New Yorker is seriously among the best lox sandwiches I've ever had. I also love grabbing a detox juice after working out! Since COVID they no longer have indoor seating to promote social distancing. However there are still tables outside! I just take mine to go, but it's nice to know there's that option. They have a digital menu board instead of just the paper menus they used to have when they first opened, which is great. I normally order a sandwich, coffee, or green juice (all great), but one of these days I need to treat myself to one of their baked goods. They always have a wide variety of macaroons (including interesting flavors like birthday cake and Nutella!) and they also have eclairs right now that look amazing. read more

They also have an assortment of pastries, macaroons, cakes, breakfast options and paninis. And on top of that they are fast, the waiters are nice and attentive. Convenient location, but our experience here over the years has always left much to be desired. Coffee - they use Lavazza which we don't like. You can go to Porter across the street, Cafe Grumpy in Whole Foods, Dunkin Donuts by the ferry, or Starbucks on Riverwalk. OJ - their freshly squeezed OJ is great, but given the other things I've noted, I rather buy the bottled Evolution juice from Starbucks or Whole Foods. Food - the bagels are ok. One time I got a croissant sandwich. Croissants are flakey and fluffy, right? Well they smush it down so it's flat. What a disappointment. Especially when their display has a fluffy croissant sandwich. Lastly, while the staff is ok, I don't like dealing with the other customers who come here. They are rude, can cut you in line, don't respect your personal space, and expect you to open the door for them (with no thank you). read more

I actually found this place here on Yelp, I'm visiting a friend living in the area. First off, the cashier was super rude for some reason. The only reason I proceeded with the payment is because I was starving and had no energy to do my research again. 3 people ordered after me and got their drinks sooner than I did. Kind of weird. Panini is horrible, all I could taste is mayo and some weird spices. Tasted like a gas station sandwich for $5-6 to be honest. I felt like drinking some coffee, after finishing my juice (juice was good, thank God) and whatever I could eat of that sandwich , but I just didn't want to spend any money there :// Such a nice area and such a disappointment.... UPD: It also tells a lot that the owner labels his customer as a "slander" (that's how he referred to me in his response, not sure if it is visible publicly) You may be surprised but I spoke to another friend who lived in the building for several years, that the food was never good, as well as the coffee . I live close by, so I enjoy walking to this cafe frequently. There are a lot of different options for drinks -- from everything to coffee, cold brew, lattes, and fruit smoothies as well. The cold brew is my favorite if they have any left for the day! I've also tried the Pistachio Escargot pastry and that was very delicious. Definitely recommend getting any of the pastries heated up. There is also a large selection of macarons but I have never tried any from there - they do like delicious and there are a huge variety of flavors. The pastry case is pretty stocked so I usually end up getting something from the case. 10/10 recommend checking out the place whether you're a local or visiting the area. Enjoy! read more

I walked into the wrong door and was greeted by the cook that literally pushed me out and slammed the door in my face. I couldn't believe it! I tried to talk to someone about it but no one could understand what was going on. I've been trying to contact the owner the last 2 weeks to put a complaint in before writing this review. The owner is an awesome guy who takes care of everyone in the community and has made be feel so welcome in the area and in his Cafe' all the food is awesome but let me tell you... The Bagels are by far the best I've had anywhere! Today I had an awesome crumb cake he brought in. Wowzers !! A must try !!! Also want to give a shout out to the staff... they are always on point the place is always so clean... Backstory: It was nice that RiverParc had a Dulce De Leche Bakery location in it when I moved in. Coming downstairs on the weekend to get coffee and a smoothie after my workout was a treat, especially when the weather was less than optimal outside. ....then their hours got shorter. Then they closed on weekends. And now it's gone altogether. Cue: Steven's Cafe. His first location (this one) is actually across the street from by building, but rumor has it (confirmed) that Steven's second outpost is taking over the now empty space in RiverParc. Once upon a boring time there was nothing for coffee or breakfast in the immediate area beyond walking to the DD by the ferry. In the present, much less boring time of now, Steven's offers bagels, pastries, donuts, coffee, sandwiches, smoothies, juices - pretty much anything a corner coffee shop/bakery should. The coffee is great, food fresh, and now they have nitro cold brew...it seems like every time I walk in something is new. The space is bright and inviting and there's plenty of places to sit (inside and out) to get some work done on your laptop. The prices are sliiiightly high but I think the convenient hours and perfect location more than make up for that. read more

I got a Weehawken burger and a Panna Cotta coffee. The burger came on a ciabatta bun and had good condiments, but the turkey patty wasn't great. It had way too much breading mixed in, making it taste more like meatloaf than burger, and the patty itself was bland. I knew that this was place was opening up across the street from my apartment building so when it finally did, I knew I had to give it a try. Went in with my boyfriend and found the place clean, spacious, and bright. The coffee offerings are Lavazza brand, but they also have cold pressed juice, smoothies, pastries and bagels. Naturally, with the last offering, the boyfriend and I couldn't pass it up. For bagels, they had a solid variety of flavors and different spreads. My boyfriend went plain and with regular spread. I had everything with what I thought was nonfat veggie cream cheese, but turned out to be vegan tofu cream cheese (yes, they do have that option). Those bagels, combined with two drip coffees, turned out to be about $15, so definitely pricey. The bagel itself was textured well. Good outside crunch with a chewy internal softness. The vegan cream cheese didn't taste vegan at all, and would've been indistinguishable from the real thing had I not read the receipt. The only complaint I have is that the everything bagel could've have had a little more of that everything seasoning I love! Overall, a solid addition to the neighborhood! read more

Wonderful cafe in Port Imperial that serves solid high quality sandwiches that are made fresh, pastries, smoothies, drinks, and snacks that won't break the bank. Steven's is often busy during lunchtime and quieter after lunch hours. There is limited indoor seating and it fills up fast during lunchtime. There are also several tables outside (some in the sun and others in a shaded area). The chicken salad wrap $7.95 was very tasty, healthy, and filling.
