I had a very bad except experience with Steve's appliance. Not a lot of help in showroom and after purchase it got worse. Delivery crew damaged my appliance when they took it off the truck. I wouldn't trust the delivery guys out of my sight!! Both looked dirty and sneaky! Although I did get a discount the appliance did not work and was told to wait 24 hours. Still didn't work! Was told it was a manufacture warranty issue and they wouldn't fix it. After bitching about it two guys one claiming to be an owner came out to look at it. He tore it apart without a care that it was new! He got it working and said with an attitude he would replace it. It has been a month and no call! It makes me sad that the people who have taken the time to review on Yelp have had bad experiences. Through word of mouth at our church, family, and friends, Steve's Appliances has always come highly recommended. We were incredibly happy with the service that they provided for us. They price match with any other appliance retailer out there, and they are kind, honest, and dependable. Our refrigerator stopped working, and so my husband and I decided to replace all of the appliances in our kitchen because they were all not working to their full potential. Not only did Sarah give us a great deal, she even took the time to answer any and all questions that we had, and looked up different makes, models, prices, etc. Her and her coworkers were extremely kind and gracious to us, very accommodating with our two year old little boy that was running around throughout the two hours that we were there. The appliances were delivered at the time that they gave us, and they look and work wonderfully. Sarah even went above and beyond and helped set up a plumber for us to run a gas line into our kitchen the same day to make sure everything was installed and working properly. Amazing! I have had nothing but 5 star service....knowledge...supply...selection...price....installation. I do not understand some of the other ratings. I would not even give this place one star. Do not waste your time. The service man came yesterday and started the repair. Did not finish the repair. He left a mess. Has not been back to fix. Said he would be back and did not show. I called in to complain and can't even get anyone to talk to me about the situation. This was after they sent out the wrong repairman two months ago. The 2 jokers they sent to install my washer/dryer seemed to be on lunch break from work release and they scraped up my door, put stains on my new carpet and didn't install the drain hose on the wash machine correctly causing my basement to flood. Took 2 days and a personal visit back to the store to to get them to respond to me. They backpedaled and gave me a BS excuse and that they wanted to make it right. Warning!! They write down your card number!! I made an appointment. I was told Jason was coming but Colin showed up. He was here for a couple minutes, talked so fast I had whiplash. He verbally quoted $400.00 to $450.00 for the repair and that I had to pay $99.95 trip charge today. No problem but then he writes my card number down, does not give me a receipt and no written quote. Then says he will call me tomorrow with the real quote and time frame. He is gone now and I realized he left with my card number written down, he did not give me anything. I called the office and she said she would send me a receipt and shred my card number. Ok what choice do I have. Then my phone rings and Colin tells me that is the way things work and have for 20 years and that I miscommunicated (blaming me the customer), I told him he wasn't here long enough for a miscommunication and times have changed. All he had to do is call the office and run the number immediately so they do not carry around a customers card number with their complete name and address. He also said the company is insured to carry around peoples personal information. WRONG!! Lastly he said the miscommunication was 50/50 and he would not charge for the trip charge and refused service! read more

My husband and I just bought a new house and wanted to Reno the kitchen ASAP. We researched and priced out appliances at all the Big box home improvement retailers along with Steve's. We made multiple trips to multiple places before settling on Steve's to purchase what we wanted. We made our decision based on Price, options, included services and the fact that they are a locally owned small business. Our experience was great for the most part: the customer service ranged from exceptional to mediocre at best but we learned quickly who to ask for and speak with. It was definitely a mom & pop shop and you can tell they are short staffed at times. But they worked well with us, made sure their prices were not undersold and arranged for all of the install work that needed to be done by other professionals. They collaborated with a guy who came to run some gas piping into the kitchen to put a Gas stove where our old electric had been.... in doing so they did all the footwork & scheduling to make the install go smoothly. They made their promised delivery window (by 2 minutes, but still: there as promised) and all of our appliances arrived in great shape. They were installed quickly and professionally. And we are resting easy knowing that they will come service our appliances (God-Forbid) we ever need them to. Delivery was free, haul away would have been also, but we requested that they just help us move them to the garage instead as we were going to sell them to someone else. They gladly obliged. We are pleased with our decision to use Steve's for our appliances and would recommend them to friends; with the knowledge that they can be short staffed and very busy at times (like many small local businesses are ;) read more

I really thought we had found a local place to buy our appliances but after today I'm not so sure. We called because our dishwasher wasn't working and it is under warranty - the person on the phone really didn't care to be of any help. Basically was told we live too far for a repair guy to come out - 10 miles further than their 20 mile limit- and we would have to find someone to fix it ourselves. Gave us a phone number to Bosch but it wasn't even a customer service number. We spent all day on the phone trying to get someone to repair this machine under warranty. Finally found someone who won't be able to come until March - very very disappointed. Wanted to support small business but when they don't provide any service what is the advantage. So if you plan to buy from Steve's be sure you are in the 20 mile service area or you won't get any help from this store. read more

We purchased a washer and dryer from them back in July of 2020. We received them and each of them was broken. The washer control panel screen was cracked and the dryer had a problem on the top. We called them immediately they said they would order them. We found out today, June 10, 2021 that they didn't even order the parts until November of 2020. We have been calling them repeatedly regarding these items as we have never received an update from them. Finally in March of 2021 they received and fixed the washer. At that time we were told that the dryer part would be in in two weeks. We are now three more months out and the dryer is still damaged. After almost a year we basically called and said that they gave us a scratch and dent model and that we should get a discount. We spoke with the manager and he basically blew us off. I went to this company because I thought they would be a good company as they always have scripture on their sign. I was wrong. They have basically screwed us over and don't care that they did it. I will go back to the name brand stores that care about the items they sell. They stand behind their products and would have replaced this item back in 2020. Bought a kitchenaid ref to replace my lg. Steve's delivered a broken ref. Boys that delivered it (before bringing it in) spent quite a bit if time banging the freezer drawer , while appl was still in truck. Tech came and couldn't fix it completely. Was told they would get back to me and replace drawer. Never heard back and all attempts to contact them have been a no call. Come and get this ----ref. Almost 3 months is not acceptable. Part of the freezer is sitting on my kitchen floor as can't close the door. I just want it out of here. read more

Bought a garbage disposal and paid to have "professionally" installed. The installer arrived late. Then he said the outlet tube did not connect to the trap at the correct angle and that it would leak, which it does leak. When asked if he could correct that he said that was a whole other job and that we would have to have that arranged. I would under the impression that professional installation meant that when he left the drain would not leak. Very unhelpful and rude. read more

So on 8.14.2020 I walked into Steve's Appliance looking for a Washer/Drier. Since 2020 hit, I have been shopping a lot of smaller, locally owned businesses where I typically had been going big box. I was VERY happy that they had American Made Amana appliances, could deliver, and install within a week with pricing very competitive with the big box stores. I bought the set, paid for delivery and installation and waited for delivery. This is where the problems began. I injured myself shortly before the delivery was to happen, my wife drove me to ER and called Steve's, explained what happened, telling them to change the contact phone # to her, not mine. An hour later, I received the call that delivery would happen in the next half hour. I called my wife and told her... Delivery and install went smoothly, guys were polite, no problem. They didn't run the washer to make sure there were no problems. We quickly did a load of wash, no problem, 2nd load the drain hose came out of our drainpipe and dumped 10-15 gallons of water on my basement floor. As we cleaned it up, I called Steve's and asked for whoever was in charge, was on hold for 5 minutes. I hung up and called back, left my name and #, told them of my problem and was promised a call back. They did at 4:45PM, I explained what happened and was told that "You will need to find a way to secure the hose in the drain, so it doesn't happen again." No offer to help or compensate me for my effort. So... My wife and I spent 3 hours mopping up water, drying carpet and a Home Depot run to get "stuff" so it doesn't happen again. I have an email into them, depending upon the reply, I may change my rating, but today, I would stay away from that place... read more

We called in a problem with our dishwasher, and they sent a competent guy who must have guessed the nature of the complaint from our description because he had the part ready. The repair took about five minutes! Painless and swift! Repaired it on the one-year anniversary of the purchase date, and the guy said the warranty was good! Outstanding! read more

Worst Customer Service E V E R !!!! Bought a kitchen suite of appliances. The VERY first moment that I turned on the new stove, there was a problem. I'll concede that the problem could be considered minor (the surface hot light stays on~ so it's a safety and annoyance problem, more than anything), but I contacted them IMMEDIATELY (after talking to the manufacturer) and it has not been resolved yet. This started in August. After 5 appointments ~which included 2 with the "wrong part", and 2 NO SHOWS!!!!~ they (nobody gives out names, except Cheryl in the Service Department, who is the MOST inept Service Coordinator I have ever dealt with in my life!) still have not resolved the issue. When 'she' wanted to reschedule yet again the appointment that was a No-Show this morning "at my earliest convenience" and I refused to give up a 6th day of my work to POSSIBLY have them show up and POSSIBLY have the right part and POSSIBLY fix the problem, she told me there was nothing else they could do. I said to come and replace this one with a new one, or take it away and refund my money. She flat-out told me that they "WILL NOT DO THAT" because "the stove has been in your home more than 30 days"!!!!!!!!!!! I insisted that "she" have the Owner (whose name they all have refused to give me!) call me before 5:00 p.m. today to resolve this. An hour later, Cheryl called and told me to call (the manufacturer). I told her that I was not going to do that. She said,"Oh well." and hung up. I am awaiting my attorney's advice now, while I also file a complaint with the BBB. DO NOT BELIEVE THEIR 'CHRISTIAN' BASED BUSINESS CREDO (which is what drew me to their business)! This is a 1st time to write a review. I did my research for a kitchen suite (4 pieces) at the top 6 stores. I even had to join Sams Club to get pricing then I cancelled after I could price it out. So I felt good about 2 of the top stores on my list (Best Buy & Lowes) . Than I walked into Steves Appliance. It takes a while before you get acknowledged .She finally helps me and shows me one set . That one wasn't the one I really wanted so we looked at the one next to it , I said I like it let me go home and share info with the wife. She said its a go so I go back to Steves Appliance I said yes lets take about the price I had the cash in my hand and she said she won't do anything on pricing ( Best Buy said that they will match or beat whatever price out there. She than says there family owned so that kinda makes me feel good. So I purchased it 2/22/19 and she says theres a manufacture rebate $200.00 you get back. Its now 7/29/19 5 months later . 5 calls into them I do not get a return phone call so I have no idea when. When got it delivered the fridge was huge so i said I need a counter depth one the charged me $400.00 for a restocking fee the next day. Then the next fridge the whole freezer turned it all to frost so we get another one it does the same thing. Both times that said nothin to do about the frostbitten food which we threw away. When you call in for any reason you get the parts lady answering the phone and she don't sound happy to do so quite rude as a matter of fact. I called the manufacture and they wanted to take care of it right away. They sent the repair people from a different company out and they had nothin nice to say about Steves Appliances. Sorry kinda jumping around . The delivery guys said the stuff I just spent over 4 grand on is junk and they won't last very long. I have a kitchen camera with voice the Sales lady at Steves didn't want to listen to that she said. There so much more detail stuff but to rap this up I would say the crew at Steves Appliance gets a job there because there family. I feel there is no customer service and sales people on there best day at that store should be at a small corner used car lot. Very disappointed in such a large purchase and disappointed in a family own business . My recommendation is to go to a large store so in the end you can be happy about your purchase . Worlds WORST customer service. Bought a refrigerator here in Summer 2012. It was delivered damaged, or damaged during delivery. One of the back wheels was crushed, indicating it may have been dropped off a truck (or something). The delivery kids HAD to have known the wheel was crushed - but proceeded to hide the fact. Within a day or so the compressor components leaked fluid all over my kitchen, and the fridge refused to cool. When contacted several times, none of my calls were returned by anyone at Steve's Appliance. I finally contacted the manufacturer and they sent out a repairman that agreed I had received a damaged appliance. The issue was fixed - including the crushed wheel. Unfortunately the fix did not last & the fridge stopped cooling a mere 4 years later (Nov 2016). When contacted, Steve's Appliance did schedule a service call - for $89 - with a 4 day wait. The service man determined the components were leaking & the refrigerator was not worth fixing. The offered nothing but $30 off my next fridge, if purchased from them. No Thanks. I could not find this business more unhelpful. I do not recommend this business to anyone. Also I would like to mention, the broken fridge that was delivered came with about 10 religious stickers stuck all over the interior. I would be OK with one sticker, IF I was being treated as a customer & fellow human should be treated. However - this company does NOT function keeping the 'golden rule', or any compassionate values in mind. Hypocrisy. read more

Absolutely terrible! Steves installed a dishwasher 2 years ago and it started to leak. I got an appointment and waited the 3 hours and no one showed. I called and they told me to wait another 1.5hours. After the tech came out, he had to come back because he had to order a part. I got off work early for the 2nd visit and they called and told me that I would need to make an different appt following week. As this was not going to work for me, the tech was then available. The tech changed out the part and the dishwasher still continued to leak. He told me he didn't know what was wrong and to call steves on Monday for a different tech. Unbelievable. I just want my $90.00 trip fee back as I refuse to have these people continue to work on the dishwasher. read more

NO-NO-NO-NO-NO-NO-NO-NI-NO-NO------bought a stove, fridge, and dishwasher from these guys-the side panel of the stove was smashed in, that was 2 months ago-still waiting............(fast forward) 5/25/16 and i'm still waiting-called them once, and yep-they have the panel and would call me back to arrange for a time to replace it-that never happened-so i call them today and I was told to call back next week cause they are "very busy and the lady in charge of this is on vacation".......busy selling dented stuff without service----hmmm....(fast forward) after 3 more calls to steve's it is now 6/7/16. once again sat waiting for the service guys-come to find out that they never loaded the part on the truck--this makes twice that steve's has done this-(always an excuse when I call them) but they did mail me a letter with the opportunity to purchase an extended service plan for my appliances. I had to laugh-really, save yourself the aggravation and go any place else. Okay, another fast forward, Got the new panel installed, only took 4 months of repeated phone calls to Steve's and of course one excuse after another, or a "I don't know, call back next week". This place is a joke!! Spent 1600 on a new washer and dryer set. Bought the extended warranty for $300 for the two machines. Didn't even have the washer and dryer for a month and noticed that there was a huge paint chip on the inside of the dryer drum. Called to see if we could get somebody to order us a part and come out and fix it since that was covered under not only the manufacturing warranty but the extended warranty as well. Was told that it wasn't covered and we had 48 hours to notice any defects in our products. I simply told Sarah the manager that that was not correct and that I was told anything would be covered as long as it was from normal wear and tear. She simply said well sorry I can't help you you had 48 hours to figure it out and obviously you didn't so there's nothing we can do for you. I told her I would contact the Better Business Bureau and she didn't care so that's exactly what I did and after doing that I finally got a part order. Was told it would be over two weeks before somebody could come and replace it and I stated that was fine. The appointment came around and never received a phone call that they were running late and was told by Cheryl, their services manager that they should have given me a call and that she couldn't do anything for me except for tell me that they were already at my house and nobody was home. I simply told her that my eighty-year-old father waited up for 4 hours waiting for somebody to come and fix it. These people are rude and distasteful. They always cut you off before you can simply State your case and they don't really give a care about you as a customer. After struggling with delivery options through a big box appliance store, I checked Steve's. Not only was the price a touch less than the other option, my dryer was delivered within 4 days. The delivery AND the person to hook up the gas arrived at the same time. Good sales staff, disappointing service department I bought a washer and dryer in may 2017, and the salesperson, Sara, was great. She did a price match with one of the larger competitors, and when the set was not available for delivery in June when scheduled due to manufacturing problems, she upgraded the pair at no charge. The items were delivered in August, and upon delivery I noticed the washer door was scratched. I notified the delivery guys, and they offered to replace it of give me $50 off. Since it was a brand new pair in a newly redone laundry room, I opted for a replacement door. Several months went by with no word from Steve's, and I wondered if the guys had reported the problem. I called in November, and the lady in service said the door was there, they were just "waiting until someone was down that way". So the door had been in for how long, and no one called to set up the exchange. Not impressed. On 12/4 I noticed a missed call on my phone log, but no message was left. In early January I received a call to set up an appointment for the delivery. it was scheduled for 2/1, between 1 and 5. So I took the afternoon off work, only to receive a call about 2:30 from one of the delivery guys that he didn't think they would make it that day, as they were a ways away and still had about 4 deliveries to do. He had called about 8:30 to see if they could do it in the morning, as they would be close, but I wasn't home. Even if I was at work, I can't just drop everything because they changed their schedule. He said they are given the deliveries the morning of, and need to work out their route. It seems to me if someone has set a time, the route needs to be worked around that, or the scheduler needs to manage the times and locations. So I rescheduled the delivery, then a week before it, I called and changed it for a later date. But the message must not have been passed on, because I found a note on my door that they had come by, but of course no one was home as I was not expecting them. On 3/16 the door was finally delivered and installed. Unfortunately, when I went to use the machine the next day, I noticed the door sagged when opened, causing it to not close easily. The door needs to be lifted slightly to get everything lined up, or slammed really hard. The previous door was lined up perfectly. I'm not sure why the service guy, Jason, didn't notice that when he installed it, but now he has to come back later this week to get it balanced. I had picked this business because I wanted to support the smaller, independent businesses. But I have been very disappointed in their service, so I will not be doing business with them again. read more

Well I now see that I am just one of many many unhappy customer's of Steve's Appliance in Mounds View. I purchased a Kitchenaid toaster for a gift this Christmas and it didn't toast. I took it back to Steve's and they were totally rude to me said they wouldn't take back a used item. I asked well how the heck do you think we figured out that it didn't work? By using it. They said there was nothing they could do. I had to contact the manufacturer for an item that wasn't even 30 days old! They refused to give me my money back for any reason whatsoever! I have never been treated like that trying to make a return somewhere with a defective product. Luckily the manufacturer is sending me out a new toaster, no questions asked. I will never ever step foot in that lousy store again. They are crooks. I did not even want to give them the one star rating because it should be nothing. read more

I purchased a Whirlpool stove from them in Jan 2016. In June 2017 we started receiving a F8EO error code. The technician that came out replaced the sensor, telling me that would fix the issue. 6 weeks later we received the same error. The same technician came out and said it was the fan motor. The next day I received a call that it would be a week to receive the part. After discussing my concerns that the technician did not really know what he was talking about they agreed to send a different technician out. The day the technician was supposed to come out I received a call at 3:30pm saying they couldn't make it, they needed to reschedule for the next day. I said it would have to be at 4:00pm, they said fine. The next day, no technician came out and no phone call to reschedule. The following day I called to talk to the service manager, he will not talk to me or call me back. I was told a technician would be out the following day. Today I received a call that the technician will not be coming out as the part has been discontinued. What part I said? They haven't been here to confirm what the issue is. I was told to call Whirlpool. The manager won't call me to discuss. My issues with all this: The first technician that came out was new and should have had an experienced technician with him. I had to look up the error code on line and walk him through how to test to see if it was the sensor or the fan motor. The same technician that came out the second time never took his backpack off his back, did not take the stove apart just pressed some buttons and said it was the fan motor. They called to say it would be a week to get the part and are now saying the part is discontinued. They haven't even been back to confirm what the issue is. They sold me the stove and now are pawning me off on Whirlpool. The second technician who was to come out the third time decided to just not show up versus having the professionalism to call. The service manager is completely unprofessional in that he refuses to call to discuss the complete incompetence of his technicians. I guess I know where they get it from. read more

They could have asked me to try that first --- but it didn't do anything anyway. I bought a range, refrigerator, dishwasher, and microwave from Steve's Appliances after visiting and pricing 7 different retailers (plus others online). Steve's prices were good, the sales people knowledgeable, and the delivery people were fast and efficient. Plus Steve's is the only retailer I talked to that purchases a 10 year warranty on major parts (refrigerator compressor) and gives that to the purchaser free of charge.
