I love old school diners and this place is amazing! It seriously seems like it's in a time warp from 1975, but in the best of ways. I was here severely hungover so naturally went for bacon & eggs and coffee. It was all tremendous and the staff was sweet as pie. A global pandemic is making or breaking businesses and it seems this business had no choice but to clean up its act or shut it's doors. A dear friend loves this place and last time I was here it wasn't very good but I have to say it took a global pandemic to make this place feel "clean". I don't recall what rubbish I ate last time but this time around the food was actually pretty decent for a diner. Keeping in mind this place is a diner and not "fine dining" it has cleaned up it's act and just might see me visiting more often. I had an egg sandwich with a side of fries and I was thoroughly happy with my meal. Those disgusting ketchup bottles are gone and they now use refillable old school restaurant style ketchup dispensers that looked like they cleaned them periodically so I wasn't grossed out to use the ketchup. No frills diner. All the basics you could want at a fantastic price. Generous portions and very friendly wait staff. I had the Patty Melt with potato salad subbed for fries. It came with Cole slaw too. Very good. Hubby got a burger and fries. He said it was quite good too! The pie and cake dessert case looks fantastic. We were too full unfortunately. My only negative comment would be to have them clean the front foyer because cigarette odor hits you when open the front door to come in. read more

Breakfast go-to were bagels with cream cheese or bacon, egg and cheese on a hard roll- something that's just not the same outside of NYS. I sometimes wish I still lived in the area to go more often. This placed used to be decent for a quick BEC, when I recently had come here i walked in and the whole staff just looked dead as if they're auditioning for the walking dead. NO smiles was NOT greeted when walked inside. I had ordered 2 bacon egg and cheeses for my mother and I and a side of home fries. We waited over 20mins (wasn't busy) when we had received our food. I was foolish for thinking it would be nice warm and fresh since I waited so long. The home fries were semi-warmed had a funny taste and the BEC was more hard roll then what I ordered the bread tasted stale - the egg was a thin sliver and slimy - 2 slices on fatty bacon - and cheese that wasn't even melted to the sandwich. As I'm finishing what food I had left over, I glanced over at the blinds an everything else - this place doesn't look like it's been cleaned in years dust and grim all over shades - the Booths were disgusting food all over the seats and the bathrooms room to top it off Is absolutely gross and dirty. As a former NYer I know the staple of local restaurants are the diners. I ate here about two years ago and the food wasn't bad. Last night, however, it was a huge disappointment. I ordered a grilled chicken sandwich with mozzarella, French fries, and brown gravy. I also ordered a Pepsi for a beverage. The waitress was the only reason I gave this restaurant an extra star. Despite the dilapidated interior, furniture, and utensils, the waitress was five-stars for her service. She was polite, greeted us promptly, and her service was impeccable. It's a shame the cooking staff and product she had to deliver was such a let down. The soda was flat. Absolutely zero carbonation in the drink. Strike 1. The food was delivered and I was a little aghast. The sandwich was pitiful. The bread roll was dry, stale, and obviously had been sitting for a while. The cheese had an offset sour taste to it. But the real kicker was the itty bitty tiny grilled chicken finger they put inside. It barely covered a fraction of the bun (see photos). Secondly, the fries were cooked in oil that I don't think had been changed in any recent time. The fries were over cooked, dry, and tasted of other fried remnants of food. They just didn't taste right. In the end, I didn't eat the food and sent it back. The five-star waitress did offer to get me another plate but I politely declined. The waitress also did not charge me for the food - another plus for her. In summary, the service was stellar but the food was dismal. Will not return. Suggestions? I don't mind the busted parking lot, the shabby gas station-esque bathrooms, the lady's powder room decor or even canned mushrooms, but cold eggs at a diner, I can't dignify. I ordered an egg white omelette with mushrooms, a side of bacon and whole wheat toast. It took forever to get our order taken and even longer to get the food. Once it arrives, my "omelette" was a pitiful, tiny, scab like thing stuck with cold watery mushrooms. To call it undignified is an understatement. Combine this with flaccid, undercooked bacon, cold reheated toast and cold home fries and you have a treasonous aberration of what diners stand for. I stop eating, I was so upset. Why all of this for a $21 meal? Well, I'm from upstate. Diners are part of my lifeblood. A really good diner is the last bastion of hot toast. Ever notice how fancy restaurants can't seem to do that? Dunkin Donuts is good, but you shouldn't have to go corporate to get consistent. Cheap, hot, quick breakfast is America. A crappy diner feels unpatriotic. Two stars - because my partner got sausage, french toast and two sunny side up eggs. The french toast with four slabs of crispy, soft, creamy neon yellow challah bread was exceptional and fresh. The patrons were mostly 70-something year old men bantering about the benefits of being left handed. They were hilarious. I can't wait to be old and opinionated. The only advantage, btw, is you can drive with your left and wrap your other arm around your sweetie. I hope when I'm old I am can be a troth of immense wisdom like these gentleman. The music was some awesome upstate station that plays non-stop Eric Clapton with 50's doo-wop. The lotto cards where the napkin holder might be was a nice touch. They don't carry any food items that could potentially expire. No fresh fruit or vegetable. I'm a vegetarian and my only options to eat were carbs or potatoes. Any question I asked, the answer was no. Any condiment I asked for, the answer was no. The waitress dropped at least six things on the floor during my visit. The water taste like plastic. We had picked up our daughter after her long trip from Ireland. It was the closest diner and we were all hungry. Had hoped for a fast but good breakfast. We ordered eggs and pancakes. The food took 40 minutes to come out. The place was nearly empty. We drank two full cups of coffee and still no food. When it finally came, my omelette had cheese inside (that looked like a slice of Kraft singles) not even melted inside. Home fries were barely warm. My daughter and husband got pancakes, and they were hard, tasteless, and reminiscent of microwave pancakes that had been over cooked based on the stiff rubbery feeling. The bacon was fatty but ok. My daughter had a big black hair in her home fries so we sent them back. In all honesty, it was a very disappointing meal. I also did not like having spider plants sticking into my head. Houseplants all over the place. We love diners. And this was not a good choice. Still feeling nauseous about the hair. Next time we come from Connecticut to Stewart airport we will not return there. Went to this location to meet my daughter for a quick snack and could not believe the reviews. They are way off. This is a great diner and this is coming from a diner expert from Long Island. Staff was very friendly and incredibly attentive. Even dessert was awesome... I had the strawberry cheesecake and was truly impressed with it. This is my favorite diner to hit when in the area. It's popular with truckers, which is a good sign (and the truckers seem to be particularly friendly here). Sure I wish the diner had more chrome, and I would recommend sticking to the basics on the menu (as with all diners), but so far they've done me no wrong. After about a 45 minute wait, the food arrived cold and was garnished with short black hairs. After informing our waitress of pitiful meal we had received, she graciously decided to only charge us for the bacon. I might as well state that the bathrooms were disgusting as well. This restaurant was by far the worst place I've ever eaten at. On a side note, we decided decided to go to the Dunkin Donuts down the road to get a different breakfast.
