Lupita was the one helping me out, and she was awesome. Super helpful and informative, and they have a great selection of wines! (Always nice to be able to pick up a couple of my Paso faves without making the 4+hr drive!) Also, if you have yet to try the apricot pepper sauce, that's a MUST over a block of cream cheese. :-D The dill almonds are also one of my mainstay purchases. read more

I was on my way to Chico CA, and I always wanted to stop here. Finally, I was able to make it. Place is very nice, ambience is great. The service was outstanding, even though we just did a quick stop because we travel with our dogs and dogs are not allowed. We got some goodies and wine to go. With a production facility and original store in nearby Newman, Stewart and Jasper Orchards has expanded with this retail space that includes a wine tasting bar. Additionally, they are affiliated with the next door restaurant Almond Wood (see https://www.yelp.com/biz/almond-wood-patterson). Selling nicely-priced almonds in an array of flavored coatings and dried fruits, I tried two varieties of seasoned almonds. The woody tasting and mushy textured Jake's maple almonds weren't right with straight bourbon but worked well with sugary cocktails. The S&J asiago cheese almonds with a processed taste like flavored potato chips fit best when eaten with nitrate-laden salami. Certainly better than a boring breather at a rest stop or gas station, the store is a solid visit when needing a driving break or staying at the Patterson Best Western. read more

It's been years since I had wrote my review so I wanted to update and let you know I still think this place is GREAT! Since my last review they had added wine tasting events. Their schedule comes out a few months in advance and for your fee you get 4-5 tastes of the host winery and snacks. Galene, Becky and crew make these nights enjoyable. You also get a discount on any wine purchased from the host as well as entered into a drawing. We have had many a fun nights coming to the wine tasting events. If you can't catch the taste in Patterson, you can go over to the Modesto location on a different night. On a random note, BUY THE PRETZELS! They are addictive, buttery, delicious. And with the recent events I am ordering my goods online. I just ordered my favorite dried white peaches and apricot pepper jelly. Easy online ordering as well as fast shipping. This is the place with the apricot wine advertised on Interstate 5. Tucked at the back of the stores just off the freeway at the Patterson Exit is the Stewart & Jasper Orchards Store selling various gourmet agricultural products from the area. Parking is limited and shared with other stores in the complex. The store is half nuts and sauces and half wine bar. You can sample the apricot and pomegranate wine or just order a glass of many traditional varieties. The apricot wine is unique with a sweet flavor. There are a wide variety of flavored almonds and other goodies inside the upscale country decor. Selection is a bit smaller than some of the farm stands along Interstate 5, but it is a nice stop if you are visiting Patterson for a meal. The wine options are rather interesting if you need to grab a bottle heading to a family holiday meal. read more

We were staying in the area at the Best Western, and while driving around the mall area that surrounds the hotel, we found this little shop. What a find! Coming to appreciate fine wines late in life, it was an education. We just walked in to see what they had and ended up spending a good part of an hour there. JB was wonderful - a great font of knowledge when it came to wine. We asked about Pino Noirs (my preference) and he let us sample several, as well as a few others that he thought were comparable and that he thought we would like. He noted our reaction to some of the prices (our tastes quite outshine our pocketbooks) and quickly led us to some less pricier, but still very good wines. I'm sorry we don't live close by - would definitely come back for more education :) And they do have other products there; mainly from their almond farm, but other stuff, too. It was a lot of fun to check it all out, and we suggest that if you find yourself going through Patterson, to stop here - it's right off the 5 freeway - can't get more convenient than that. And S.S.? This is a cute little store in Patterson, right off of I-5. I've gone several times to buy little gifts for friends. They have an assortment of snacks. Different flavors of almonds, pretzels, jams, wines, oils, etc. My personal favorite is their butter pretzels. Can't. Stop. Eating. Those. Although I've never been to one, they also hold wine tastings. If you have time, you should stop by this cute store. read more

What a pleasant surprise! We stayed at the RV park across the street and were on our way to the BBQ joint next door. Their wine tastes from Amador, Lodi, and Paso Robles were varied and the staff was knowledgeable, with no pretensions. We'll be be back. I absolutely LOVE this place. They have an amazing selection of California wines. This is always my go to place for a bottle of wine for myself or as a gift! Daily wine tasting is available. Some days you can catch them featuring phenomenal wines like Rombauer and Franks Family. This store is so cute and exudes elegance. Their gift baskets are beautiful and are perfect for any occasion. They've expanded the products they feature and now offer anything from chocolate to gourmet sauces and of course their famous almonds are offered in just about every flavor you could think of. I love that their products are all locally made, you can really taste the freshness! The atmosphere and staff are both very inviting and friendly! This place is a must see!! We came to sample wine and buy a few bottles as we like their fruit wines as we had a great experience with the owner before. Today we walked in and were completely ignored! The young guy working was too busy flirting with 2 girls; he saw us and ignored us completely! We waited a while (trying to be patient); then, it was clear he didn't care or was very biased against us! That said, won't support a business who doesn't care about customers! Sad because we really liked their wine and would have bought at least a few bottles and some nuts! (I'm sure we would have spent a lot more than the two giggling girls)! read more

Hello, live in Newman, but sadly still haven't ventured out to this location-although husband on way there right now to buy a co-worker a few items for a birthday treat, One I always buy, and he will get her today is the famous apricot-pepper sauce(or jam) I use : 1/2 Philadelphia creme cheese, 1/2 S&J apricot -pepper sauce on top of a toasted bagel, or w/ fancy crackers or even club is ok in a pinch~crackers. I have had several of the flavored almonds-, also quite tasty! Really like eating the plain almonds, also, as these are less sodium, and fat and am trying to drop a few pounds now.. My Mother really enjoyed her gourmet basket a few years back, that i had hand selected, at the Patterson store,-mostly dried fruits-apricots and peaches and pluots I think? , also Sage honey, and sweet gourmet mustard.. Haven't tried their wines yet-I go to the Patterson location, usually after lunch w/ a friend at Golden Lion, Damascus or Strings. Must try! Have also purchased several gift baskets, and ever created 2 of my own and had shipped back East instead of flowers for husbands late brother. The healthy nuts and fruits were a nice change from the usual plant or flowers I have usually sent to someone seriously ill. Buzzy(my late B-I-L) had just been diagnosed w/ kidney cancer and the tumor was pretty much inoperable-so Drs gave him 4-6 months max to live. I had to do something very quick, however he wouldn't appred=ciate the $50 of freswh flowers, so I chose food-to satisfy his munchies when he felt like eating. He called us within minutes of recieving my gift, very grateful .This is the last chance I had to speak w/him. Drew and Jon flew in a week -ten days later to say Hello, and sadly, goodbye. He only made it til July 29(Drs thought Oct), again, I couldn't fly in, either to visit or fro his funeral-due to $$ only my husband(brother) flew back, now a 2nd time within 3 months time. So, sorry for the sad story, but intention was0 these great delicacies, were appreciated not only here, locally, but also in Phoenixville,Pa wherre we had sent to 2 of our family members thus far. However-sahe must of forgot us paying 35 each to go to Livermore's 150th Celebration of harvest back in 1999, aND HAD TO PAY TO PARK, WORK THRU CROWDS-ENOURMOUS CROWDS AND STAND IN LONGT LINE TO GET A 1/2 " TASTE OF cABERNETS OR mERLOTS THEN. wE WENT TOGETHER-AND MY DAY COST ME OVER 100.00, W/O THE COST OF DINNER OUT IN lIVERMORE LATER AT THE LOCAL STEAK HOUSE-ANOTHER 35-45 EACH FOR A APPETIZER PLATE AND GLASS OF WINE. Stewart & Jasper sells products detrimental to people's health. Their products are Not Organic and contain Unhealthy ingredients like Margarine, Hydrogenated Canola Oil, Corn Syrup, Cornmeal, Microgard, Alginate, etc. We purchased 6 products at the store in Monterey this past weekend as the positioning of "controlling every aspect of production, from the Orchard to the Marketplace" created the impression that these are products good for people's health. We are big supporters of organic farmers and farmers markets that deliver fresh and healthy nutritious products. When we got home that evening, we more carefully read the ingredients labels of each product and we were very disappointed to find out that the products are not organic and most of them actually contain ingredients that are detrimental to human health. S&J claims that their brand has integrity and they deliver "finest quality products" following a 60-year old family tradition, however the products do not support that. Following are the unhealthy ingredients of the products we purchased: Churro Nuggets - Margarine, cornmeal, corn syrup, hydrogenated canola oil, soybean oil. Blue Cheese Stuffed Olives - Hydrogenated Canola Oil, microgard, alginate. We also purchased Natural Almonds, Roasted Pistachios, and Coconut Cream Pie Almonds, which seem to be ok even through they are not organic. We live in San Francisco and don't have an opportunity to go back to Monterey to return the products. It is very unfortunate that the company uses misleading marketing and brand positioning to sell products that are damaging to people's health. I don't think that was the family tradition based on which the company was founded 60 years ago. I sent an email to the management team encouraging them to take measures to correct their misleading business practices. If they are selling junk food, they need to label it as such. If they are selling healthy products, their ingredients and labeling should reflect that. read more

Stopped in yesterday, Saturday, 4/06/13, taste tested the Jaidyn Apricot Wine, the sample tasted rich, potent & delicious, we bought a bottle, opened today, Sunday, 4/7/13, for dinner, my wife & I sipped the wine we bought at the same time & both looked at each other, saying this IS NOT WHAT WE TASTED YESTERDAY, tasted watered down wine, I called the store today, Sunday & was told it's all the same stuff, she said to call on Tuesday & speak with Gary, the wine guy, we will see what happens, VERY disappointed at this time with our bottle we purchased!!! read more

Yikes! I wrote a review on this the other day and its GONE! So here it goes again Folks! OK I went in there as I usually do for my glass of Vino, this was also one of my FAV Places in that plaza until the last time. As I had said before in my previous reviews my FAV shop is around the corner this PLACE needs to know that S&J is NOT the ONLY Place in that PLAZA they need to support the other business's around them. I said I was going to go to my FAV shop they said there was no store like that behind them never has been! I was flabbergasted! You Do not know what is around you??? OMG no wonder the owner of that business can not catch a BREAK as none of the business's) sends anyone to her including S&J she I know sends business there way, she is the one who told me to go in there, you think they would know who is around there and return the favor. the last time I went in to S&J to have a glass of Vino and buy a bottle the girl was kind of a snit and snobby towards me an folks no one TREATS me that way! Hmmmm I wonder if she noticed I didn't tip her? I for one am a very unhappy customer of that Establishment. I will not return only to my one reg stop now! I used to make this my reg stop every time I was in this town am thinking twice now..due to the last two experiences YOUR not the only one in that PLAZA!
