We have been going to Stewart's Root Beer in Tuckerton as a summer tradition for the past 10+ years. Our recent visit (6/2024) was a big disappointment as the hot dogs were so bad we had to throw them away! It's somewhere between fast food and diner food. Nothing about it is high quality but what it lacks in foodie appeal it makes up for exponentially in Americana kitsch. A night at Stewart's is a visit to a happy go lucky quintessentially American yesterday we only see in movies and tv. It's Kevin Arnold getting a milkshake with his girlfriend, it's Don Draper taking the family out for burgers and fries. This particular Stewart's is uniquely located on the waterfront and has plenty of outdoor seating with wait service. Service is ok and food is pretty good for the price. They do have gluten buns and fries. My only issue is when I tried to make sure that the fries I received was the gluten free ones the person dropping them off said all fries are gluten free (in a not so nice manner). When I tried the explain that I was worried about contamination she took them from our table in a little of a huff and eventually returned with new fries. Stewart's is the perfect stop for a quick family meal or a snack with a view if you feel like doing by the water! We've been coming here every summer for 4 summers now and continue to enjoy the ice cream, quick take out options and the dining on the water. I do wish there was a fence or something to protect from the water when kids are dining and that there was some separation of the dining areas to cars but other than that it's a great quick meal and the brownie s'mores ice cream is a favorite! read more

The Stewart's root beer Inn Little egg Harbor was nothing short of amazing it was a pleasant surprise when my husband and my family decided to drive out to a friends house for a little day trip this place was on the water and it had great ambience and all of the servers seem to rotate and they had great attitudes we definitely stumbled upon a gem and we definitely will be back everybody's food was delicious especially the crabcakes my fish tacos was a last minute decision to change My meal because originally I was just going to get some quesadillas but our waitress made the suggestion of trying to fish tacos because they are her favorite and now they are my favorite to my husband's burger looked amazing and he was pleasantly surprised he is a big burger fan and he cannot wait to revisit this location the manager must be very proud and the staff really are caring people we had a great time and even my picky mother who always complains had nothing to say except have a smile on her face thank you so much we will be back. read more

Dave and I went to Stewart's in Tuckerton NJ. We had a wondertime. Food and staff were Devine. Very attentive. The ambiance was so much fun. I'm not going to lie, the root beer here is amazing. If you are in the mood for root beer, this is one of the best places. As for the food....not impressed. I understand that we are just recovering from covid and that restaurants are struggling for good employees however, you can't mess up a good burger. The locals seem to like this place so it could be me, but I would only come back for the root beer, not the food. Mediocre at best. If you don't have high expectations you will be ok. This is a review for the Stewart's in Tuckerton, Nj. This Stewart's is a real throwback to the 50's/60's (at modern day prices). I have not been here for a couple of years since the hurricane. The renovations are subtle but have made a huge difference in terms of atmosphere. It's a semi-outdoor establishment, enclosed with soft plastic material that can be rolled up on hot sunny days. The seating is on picnic style tables. There are statues of Elvis, Marilyn Monroe, Betty Boop and other memorabilia. They've added lobster rolls to their menu. I like that the roll is primarily lobster meat and does not have fillers. If you come here, you must get the Stewart's cream float. It is made with Stewart's cream soda with a scoop of ice cream. There is also a drive-in service where you order from your car. If in the area, this is a fun place to stop in for lunch. read more

How does Stewarts get these great spots!? The Seaside Heights location is right on the bay and this one's right on Tuckerton Creek with a nice view of the boats and creek when outside dining. Inside dining is an retro 50's look and it's interesting enough to keep your attention. Unfortunately, that's where the pleasure ends. I've eaten here countless times with family (it's less than 2 miles from my home) and it was always a great staple, decent food, fair pricing and a truly wonderful staff. Something went terribly wrong this year. Food is off, definitely not the same quality as prior years and outside of the burgers and dogs, everything we ordered seemed 'institutional'. While the staff was friendly, just watching the manager interact with her waitresses made everyone in our party and visibly others in the restaurant uncomfortable. The milkshakes were spot on so I'd still come back for a cone or shake if the kids pestered me enough, but if you're looking for a casual waterfront bite in Tuckerton, you're better off at the Seaport Market or any other local spot. read more

My boyfriend and I have been coming to Stewart's since they opened this summer. We have visited at least 6 times in the past 3 months and each time I go the service is very poor . I myself am a server so to comment on another establishments service is out of character for me . I've truly never considered not tipping a server until coming to this restaurant. Amazing how they charge you for the pickles, tomato or lettuce for your Burger! Really ??? How cheap can you be! Next thing there will be a charge for ketchup. AC is a key during dog days of summer! Decent food but don't bother asking for with or without-everything is the same.

This is usually one of our favorite stops for a quick little dinner. However, tonight the food and service was terrible. We waited to receive menus and even longer for our dinner. We received the wrong drink, the fried flounder was over done, the French Fries were under done (portion was much smaller than usual), and the burgers was soggy with no toppings. Without doubt the nicest Stewart's I've ever encountered. I brought my family here recently as a kind of trip down memory lane. The cheesesteaks and onion rings were fabulous, the hot rod burger, poppers, fries, and salad were very good, and the root beer in a frosted mug was perfection. And it was all very inexpensive for the quality. Along with everyone else we ate on the picnic tables on the roofed over 'patio' in front - I don't know if they no longer offer car hop service or if they don't bother in nice weather. Strwarts is a timeless classic place to enjoy the retro 50s style drive-in atmosphere. The food is good. Fries are classic. I had the philly cheesesteak and it was very good. Today was opening day and unfortunately, they did nit put their best foot forward. $16 for 2 dried out small shrimp, two scallops, and a very small, thin piece of fish with French fries. I asked for 1 chili cheese fries and got two French fries and no cheese, they refused to change the bill as they said we ate the fires, which you get a small amount for $3.00. We waited 15 minutes for the waitress to take our order and an additional 45 minutes to get the food. The waitress only came after 35 minutes to tell us that they are busy, they had many take out orders and that our food is coming. I always like to help out local businesses, but I would not return here. The waitress was not even friendly. I am disappointed because I was here last year and it was not like this. This diner is really nice, and 60's themed, but the problem is there are a bunch of statues of a sexualized cartoon character (Betty boop). I don't think you should take your kids here for that reason, but the food is still great. I ordered their beer and grilled cheese, with some of their "golden" french fries. They certainly delivered the golden and the grilled cheese was nice and crunchy/melty food I expected. My brother ordered the burger, and they also made it well. The atmosphere isn't really good though. And they gave us small paper plates, and because I like my grilled cheese with ketchup, I had to eat one slice to put the ketchup in the paper plate. Also, the cup probably aren't washed, because my mother's cup had a yellow tint at the bottom. Overall, come here with a bigger plate, and without kids and everything will be great. read more

I love the 50s theme of it and I love that you can sit on the water while eating lunch. However I had a burger it was completely dry and tasteless, had to pay for everything a la carte and no refills on your soda which I have to mention was flat. Getting a hold of a waitress was impossible as well we had three different people at our table throughout the meal which is fine but not one of them ever checked on us till the end when it was time to drop the check. My kids enjoyed the hot dogs but other than that I wouldn't suggest the place. read more
