The food was fresh and the service was great! I had the red pepper, broccoli rabe, and mozzarella panini with crispy sweet potato fries, and it was really good. The portions were generous--I ended up taking half of it home. The coleslaw was delicious too! read more

Nice little hole in the wall restaurant. Good breakfast with smaller portions on the senior menu. Weekend dinner menu is amazing. I had garlic butter pork chops with mashed potatoes and asparagus. This is a hidden gem! They serve GRITS, have the best burgers and breakfast around! The staff and owners are wonderful! My husband mentioned how nice the homegrown tomatoes looked and was immediately served a complimentary plate of sliced tomatoes. The owners also offered home grown tomatoes and a cucumber to us....we couldn't accept because we are staying in a hotel....but it was a very kind and friendly gesture! Just went there for breakfast. Food was very good as was the service. The only problem I had was the 3% added to the check for using a credit card. The only way you knew there was a charge is when you paid. They are supposed to let you know when entering the restaurant and let you know what they are being charged so they can pass it on to you. Rather than nickel and dime, you just raise the prices 3%. read more

I went in a bit after noon just to get a quick bite. I had never been there before and wanted to check in out. It didn't seem too full but the layout is very cramped. I was told to sit anywhere, I grabbed a spot and was given menu and ask what I wanted to drink. "Coffee". The coffee was brought without creamers or such so I was waiting to give my order to ask for some. That wait last near 10 minutes with no one coming to see me. My relatives live a few blocks away and I am embarrassed that I visited John & Sonia's for the first time this weekend. What a wonderful place. There was a wait for a table but my wife and I sat at the counter and were greeted immediately, and in a New York Minute, we had our coffees and our orders taken! John and Sonia were clearly visible, ensuring their guests were taken care of. Although the place looks chaotic, John & Sonia have a well oil orchestra of process and service, which is obvious with all the locals coming in for breakfast.
