I love the 50s theme of it and I love that you can sit on the water while eating lunch. However I had a burger it was completely dry and tasteless, had to pay for everything a la carte and no refills on your soda which I have to mention was flat. Getting a hold of a waitress was impossible as well we had three different people at our table throughout the meal which is fine but not one of them ever checked on us till the end when it was time to drop the check. My kids enjoyed the hot dogs but other than that I wouldn't suggest the place. read more

You can't go wrong here for fast food. Pulled in by boat (yes they have their own dock). Had fish tacos, fried scallop basket and pulled pork sandwich. Also diet root beer and root beer float. Float was typical but good. Fish tacos tasted very good. Scallops were actually done perfectly. Service was good. Car service was also open in full swing. I'm not a soda drinker, but I'll make an exception for root beer. Even the diet tasted good! I ordered the regular cheese burger and onion rings. The service was quick. They have indoor seating as well as outdoor, but I recommend the outdoor. They have really nice views of the dock. read more

This place resembles a diner from the height of the 1950's, during a time where the waitresses wore rollerskates, Elvis dominated the radio sound waves, ice cream was the new "it" food, and you could be served meals in your car. All of these things are still true at Stewart's, besides the rollerskating part. The staff is friendly; it is a popular spot with locals and family run. The food isn't too pricey and is typical fast food: burgers, hot dogs, wraps, salads, French fries. Their ice cream options are amazing. I highly recommend grabbing yourself some sort of sweet treat from the right side of the building when you finish your food. I give it three stars because it isn't a very well presented array of food, and the servers don't really have to do much but throw paper plates at you and give you a big smile. If you need a refill of water or extra salad dressing, you most likely have to go up to the counter yourself and ask. read more

At various points while on vacation, eating at a themed diner can be enjoyable. Stewart's is a 50s themed diner with a nationally branded soda line served in house. The service was pretty good, the waitresses were super nice, polite and attentive. The tables were comfortable and roomy, and the dining area was clean and had all the requisite 50s memorabilia, with 50s music at a nice background level. This is touted as a "burger joint" so, I had a bacon cheese burger, cheese hot dog and cheese fries. The food here is expensive. No refills on soda, and that ran almost 3 dollars for a 20 oz, with ice (the menu states that). The burgers run to the small size, dry and rather bland. The hot dog was better, but for $3.25 I expected something a bit bigger. The fries were your standard French fries, and the cheese came in a really small side cup. The cheese on both the hot dog and for the fries had absolutely no flavor. If you come to New Jersey over the summer and have an excess of money and want to take some pictures with the mannequin and the decor, have a root beer float, but eat dinner elsewhere. read more

Stewart's is one of my favorite summer eateries. It's fun! The food is cooked to order and good. Service is relatively fast and friendly. Prices are fair. Our first visit this season and things have changed. The "inside" is more like a real dining room. Booths line three sides. There are still some picnic tables inside (center) and outside. The vinyl zipper-up windows are still there but halfway down where they meet half-height walls. Some might see this as an upgrade, I'm not sure how I feel about it. It's bright and cheery, still reminiscent of the 50's, but it feels more restaurant-y. There is a greater degree of separation between the original carhop service and the dining room. I hope that the carhop service won't become obsolete, that's what makes Stewart's, Stewarts. read more

Absolutely love the car service at Stewart's. This is such a fun throwback place with decent food. Typical Stewart's menu but you can also get a lobster roll and fish tacos. If you are looking for an old fashioned root beer float - this is the place to go. And they even have a boat dock if you want to float up. read more

What a fun place. Picnic tables under a huge tent or down by the marina or you can get car service. Kids meals come in cardboard car boxes..ours was a yellow mustang. The grandson loved it! Usual Stewarts menu with a few unique menu items like lobster roll sandwich. The cheesesteak, burgers and hot dogs were excellent and you can't beat Stewart's root beer in the frosty mug. Life size Elvis and Betty Boop statues and lots of rock and roll decorations and music. Sure beats McDonalds! read more

Stewart's is a great novelty, but not somewhere I would frequent. The food is okay but pricey, and eating in your car really isn't as convenient as you would think; the mugs don't fit in the cup holders in your car which really inspires a juggling act. The cold root beer and shakes are good on a hot summer day. Oh, and forget getting regular yellow mustard for your corn dog they only have deli mustard. :( read more

Stewart's is a throwback, roadside stand for burgers and dogs. This location has seafood as well since it is practically on the bay. The food quality is about average. Nothing stands out as being extra special, taste-wise. I give it 2 stars because the service is horrible. Slow and without personality! Asked for my check today and 15 minutes later the waitress was helping customers outside and at other tables, but still no check. This was after we sat for 10 minutes without anyone even bringing us a menu. There isn't much in this town and I have to imagine that is why they have stayed in business so long. Finally found an excellent lobster roll in New Jersey!!! No filler, plenty of meat, served warm on a hot dog roll with a lemon wedge, some tasty fries and slaw. Suggest they offer an optional platter with 2 lobster rolls with one order of fries/slaw. Wish I had found them earlier in the summer! Plan to stop by every Friday on my drive home from work until they close for the fall. The strawberry sundae was also delicious, and the staff were friendly. read more

Great nostalgic place with nice views. We strayed off the usual Stewart's menu and ordered fried clam strips and a blackened fish taco. The seafood was fresh and unbelievably delicious. We asked where they get their seafood from and it's from a local market daily. I'm still amazed at how good it was. The clam strips were tender and a great Tate. The flounder in the taco was flaky and fresh. Along with a couple of ice cold root beers and a view of the bay it was a perfect lunch after a tour of the seaport. read more

I love this place! They are open for the 2016 season. I had the Lobster Roll and it was the best ever. There were huge pieces of real lobster, not the artificial stuff. The roll was over flowing with the lobster and I had to eat some with a fork. The roll was so fresh and made this roll even more delicious. Also had the sweet potato fries with it, a slight up charge but well worth it. Of course I had a mug of rootbeer and it was chilled just right. We decided to use their car window service because we had our dog with us and was very pleased with the service. It was quick and very professional. There are outside tables by the water, inside tables and car service for your dining. I will be returning here and can't wait to try the Mahi Mahi Reuben. read more

My friend and I walked into this restaurant and the staff seemed friendly. We were handed menus and told to sit wherever we wanted to. We sat in the front area of the restaurant. We looked over our menus for a few minutes, which turned into several minutes and the waitresses never bothered to get our drink orders. We noticed other tables that sat after us were getting tended to by the waitresses. We waited patiently to be acknowledged as the place was starting to pick up but we never got any service and decided to just get up and leave. The waitresses need to get a better handle for the order of seating and communicate better as to which table is being serviced by which waitress. read more

My friends and I came for lunch this past Friday. We sat down at a table by the water and realized it needed to be cleaned of bird droppings. We waited for the waiter to do it and when he made no motion to do so after two trips to the table to deliver menus and drinks, one of us asked for a wet cloth to do it ourselves. His only reply, ok. No apology, no " I'll do that". He later sent another waitress down with our food and washcloth. The waitress plopped the wet cloth next to my friend, again making no motion to clean the table. She then put the trays down and left. Later our waiter yelled to us , at least twice, from the top of the parking lot to ask if we were ok. The restaurant was not remotely busy, and even if it was, this is standard practice to check on customers, not yell at them because you are too lazy to come down. Why hire waiters and waitresses who don't know how to interact with customers, don't want to do their jobs and don't even want to walk to the lower level where there are tables? In the past I have come here for the nice view, but the food has always been average at best. Now with subpar service as well, I will not be back. Such a disappointing experience. read more
