So I ended up at Stick Talk because my friend knows I love Hibachi! I didn't have have time to check the reviews but I figured why not. I have to admit that this was not what I expected. Being brutally honest the food was WAYYY overpriced. My friend said that she'd checked the menu out and they had happy hour. We visited the Midtown location. The restaurant was very cute and quaint. There were only a few people there so we got our food pretty quickly. Our server was extremely nice and took the time to discuss the menu with us since it was our first time. They don't cook the food on a grill in front of you it's prepared in the kitchen. I ordered the Double up combo that came with Steak (i opted for the filet mignon + $4) and Shrimp then added Salmon + $15. I asked for my steak to be cooked med. rare and salmon medium well because I did not want a dry hard salmon. I chose fried rice and the garlic butter as my included sauce. The food was seasoned with some sort of teriyaki. My steak was over cooked, so very tough for me and the salmon was perfectly prepared but taste like ocean lol! The rice I could have done without nothing special no eggs or veggies in it but it was flavorful. The veggie mix (Broccolli, carrots) were clearly frozen veggies but there was a peel or two of fresh zuchinni bits and lotttss of onions! My friend ordered the Stick Talk combo with noodles. My tab rang up to about $78 which included the double up combo - up charge for steak, salmon, kyoto sour (more juice than alcohol), yum yum sauce, spicy garlic sauce and a can of coke. I was extremely upset once I got my food and tried to order off the happy hour menu and was told there is no happy hour at the midtown location. Not only is there a happy hour section on the menu they have the same menu posted on their social media for midtown location stating there is happy hour. I really wanted to send all my food back and get a refund. That was the sole purpose for us going there, we were meeting up for happy hour so needless to say I won't be back there for happy hour! Lastly, I tried to call the location multiple times (no one answered) to make the management aware that the employees need to be more mindful of what they're doing with their hands and no gloves. One waitress was putting her hair in a ponytail and on and off her cell scrolling (we all know how filthy cell phones can be) and did not wash her hands when she was making drinks, one waitress was playing in her hair in the mirror then proceeded to stick her finger in her ear and shake it vigorously then proceeded to pick up dirty dishes off of tables that needed to be cleaned and when I asked for a to go box she grabbed it so fast and brought it and in no way washed her hands or even sanitized before grabbing them. read more

This is the best Hibachi spot I've found in Houston so far. The food is good, and the people that work there are nice.

Food was fresh and amazing (one of us is from Louisiana so he knows cajun)! The Double Up Combo was enough for lunch the next day and I'm a big guy. The Spicy Garlic Butter wasn't that spicy but good especially mixed with the Summer Sauce which was very spicy. You won't need much. Service was friendly and delivered our order accurately. They even brought us waters while we waited for our togo order. Two meals took about 15-20 minutes so not bad. I give it a 4 for 2 reasons: #1:Store temp was warm/sticky and ambiance was cold. #2 We are an interracial gay couple and when we walked in the police (who was sitting in their car in the parking lot) walk in right behind us and stood "what felt like" right next to us the entire time. I want to believe it had nothing to do with what I'm thinking. Either way, at 7:30 pm on a Monday, that made us feel unsafe (we're from out of town and don't know the area). 1st: Be mindful that this location is very limited with parking and seating. 2nd: If you are willing to wait for a table you will be doing so outside the restaurant as there is no space inside to wait for a table. 3rd: While waiting outside you will see "open" tables but will NOT be seated as they do not have the staff to accommodate every filled table being serviced at the same time. 4th: Once you finally make it inside please already know what you would like to eat and drink as your entire order will be taken on the spot once a server comes to your table so don't delay if you want to actually eat. 5th: Don't actually expect the food to taste like anything but an overpriced plate of undercooked rice with salty proteins on top. Finally, I would NOT recommend this place to anyone who was tempted via the Instagram reels as we were. The customer service aspect could certainly use some work as we were never asked about the food nor the experience by server or manager on duty. They got our order wrong twice and for their Cajun fries they handed us a small box of unseasoned fries that costed 6 bucks! Not only was our plates unseasoned and lacked flavor, there was hardly any meat and there was mostly veggies and the rice was very dry. I spent over $20 for 4 sauces and 2 sides of rice. Portions of rice were small. Originally I got one for $6 and some change, after I received my food I was amazed on how small the portion of rice was for $7. The restaurant is already small but to not plan logistics well enough to accommodate both orders in house and takeout is ridiculous. the food truck is already a mess but as a brick and mortar, this is unacceptable. I do NOT recommend anyone coming here to eat because the service is crazy, they clearly don't have the capacity to manage orders, and management needs to significantly look into logistics for operating and establishment to service multiple customers. The food was amazing. The lobster does not have a rubbery texture like most lobsters do. Soft and comes right off the shell. We ordered the garlic butter sauce and yum yum sauce to go with it and it was a perfect combination! The salmon was perfectly seasoned and the steak cooked to perfection. The service was great too! The ladies working there are super friendly and funny. Clean place, comfortable to eat in. Will definitely return! 2 adults can really share 1 plate and just order extra sides of things but if you're super hungry, definitely order 1 plate each. So worth it! read more

I think my expectations were too high. I heard so many people rave about this place so I stopped in on my way home after a drunken night out. This was my second time coming here because not only is the food really good but the service was also good. Unfortunately this time the service we got was terrible. We only interacted with our waiter twice and that was when he gave us the menu and took our order. The food took a while to be brought out, we noticed that a couple that arrived a while after us got their food before us even tho we were there first and ordered pretty fast since we got the same food we did last time. After receiving our food which was really good again, we did not receive any attention from our waiter. We waited to get a water refill for about 10-15 mins before I called the manager. Went to try this place out yesterday on Wednesday for their $0.75 Wednesday Wings. My partner and I ordered two 6pc wings ($10 original price of 8 wings) one plate in their Sriracha Peach (nice flavor but not spicy would say it is a mild spicy level) and their drip sauce, and their tempura shrimp. While we waited about 5 minutes after our order our waitress came out to ask if we wanted to do the 6 wings for $5 for the happy hour instead of the 8pc which will be the original price. Which we said that's fine we didn't think much about it since we just wanted something light. After that we waited for 30 minutes and saw that a couple that were seated after us got their food before us. We were not checked on during this timeframe. Sometime later my partner said something to a waiter and 2-3 minutes after our food came out. We liked the wings, it wasn't over cooked and the sauce was nice, could be a little crispier. The tempura shrimp came out hot and soggy because the sauce soaked into the batter but we did like the sauce and the shrimp was cooked perfectly wasnt over cooked but it was sad that the batter didn't come out crispy. After we finished we got the check and on our receipt they charged us for a $12 egg roll appetizer that we didn't order so if we didn't check the receipt before paying we would've been paying for something we didn't get. Overall experience I think this place is not too bad, I do find some of the prices to be overpriced for example the original price for the tempura shrimp is $16 and with happy hour it is $8 for 6pc jumbo shrimp.
