Brisket plate with Brussel sprouts. they were my girlfriend's fav
    Bruce M.

We rode our bikes to Stiles switch for dinner. It is the first time that I had been there in quite a while, and it was delicious. We had turkey breast and brisket, and I liked the brisket a bit better. They have a good selection of sides, and my girlfriend loved the brussels sprouts. They also have a very good selection of desserts. I had the chocolate cake, which was delicious. In addition to soft drinks, they serve beer, cider, seltzer, and canned wine. They have a nice indoor seating area as well as an outdoor patio when it is not summer in Texas. The prices are fair and the food came out quickly. The staff was friendly and the restaurant was very clean.

If you only had to order 1 thing at Stiles Switch: IT'S THE OAK SMOKED CHICKEN WINGS. For the sauce, you only live once --- try the Alabama White Sauce. Listen, I've been on a BBQ Crawl throughout Austin, and only came to Stiles Switch for the wings, but now I regret not trying more. The wings were smoked to perfection, had a slight crunch from the flash fry --- and let's talk about that sauce. THAT SAUCE WAS AMAZING. It's odd seeing white sauce-coded wings, but after a while you get used to it. It's served with a side of ranch, but honestly it's unnecessary. The white sauce has just enough creaminess, with a slight tang that is addicting. If I could repeat any food from this trip, these wings and the migas tacos from Veracruz would be my top contenders. Also --- if you're lucky --- they might sneak in an additional wing or two intro your order. ;). Thanks Stiles Switch BBQ & Brew for this surprising dish!

As far as upper level BBQ goes, the meats here are mid. However, the sides are fantastic! If you compare Stiles Switch to general BBQ then the meat cuts are wonderful and the sides are absolutely phenomenal. The classic red meats here are lower tier 2, upper tier 3. The brisket I had was half dry, half fatty with no consistency. The ribs were good enough but I couldn't tell you anything in depth about their flavors. The turkey was best because it was juicy and very well marinade. The sides, especially the corn casserole, were great and I'd eat them any time. Weirdly, the house mustard was by far the best thing and is nearly drinkable.

I had a beer after ordering a French Dip with Au Jus and fries. Very tender and flavorful. Counter service was great. Good location and enjoyable environment. Brought home a half pound of Smoked Turkey and a Cheddar Jalapeño Sausage (no photos). Both of the to go orders are awesome. The French Dip was great.

Finally had a chance to try out this bbq spot. It is off N Lamar with plenty of parking space. We came on a late Saturday afternoon and there was still plenty of food available. While the food was good, it wasn't my favorite bbq spot in austin. We got the brisket, beef ribs, tot casserole and Brussels sprouts. The Brussels sprouts were probably the most flavorful and our favorite.

We are on a tour of top 50 Texas BBQ restaurants in the Austin area this week and I have waited until after the last of the 3 we visited to begin writing my reviews. I'm starting here because of the food and the fact that this is a local favorite. Everything here is top notch, from the fact that there isn't a line to wait in for more than a few minutes, the counter service with your meats cut in front of you and ample seating areas both inside and out. The moist brisket we had here was the star attraction and doesn't need any sauce as it was spiced perfectly with excellent bark and of course fork tender. Although I usually don't like pork ribs that are sauced, these were cooked perfectly with a "bite off the bone" scrumptious flavor. The pork belly bites were delicious with a chimi churri sauce that accentuated the taste. Their sausage is also very tasty. If you want Texas Monthly top 50 BBQ without the long lines this is the place for you. We will be back.

    Smoked Prime Rib Plate

Fantastic Texas Style BBQ My return trip to Austin after a decade plus, I had to get bbq. After work on a Wednesday, I decided to stop by and get my fix. This location is in a strangely empty/ not busy strip, so parking was plentiful and it looked very plan outside. However when you walked through that doors, the smells and ambiance changes you. The staff have the friendly Texan charm and give you a big welcome and are helpful in choosing your meal. Prime rib special comes with 2 sides and a bread. The roll is a little lukewarm and semi-hard. For sides, I ordered them corn pudding and Brussels sprouts. The sprouts are drenched in a sauce, tasty but heavy. The corn pudding is more in the bready side, but quite nice. You can get some onions and jalapeños as accoutrements. The kick provides a nice foil to the heaviness of the meats. And that leaves the meat. The prime rib was delicious. Soft and tender with an amazing smokiness. I also ordered a half pound of brisket. It's a lean cut, so a bit dry when compared to fatty cut. But amazing and worth a repeat. Both meats made my dinner and bbq addiction complete.

This place was so delicious! We shared a 3 meat plate & a 2 meat plate along with a hot dog. The smoked turkey was awesome along with the regular sausage. The brisket was good, the pulled pork needed seasoning but was very moist, the ribs were also good & flavorful. Loved the tater tot casserole & Mac & cheese. The Cole slaw needed seasoning. But overall I was very pleased with everything & adding a little bit of salt to something fixed it right up. The staff was very friendly & I didn't feel rushed. They also cleaned up & had tables available very quickly.

Sliced Brisket and Smoked Pork Belly Burnt Ends
    James D.

Stopped by to pickup some bbq Togo today. Got to try their brisket and pork belly burnt ends. Pluses: Pork belly was tasty in the spicy sauce Free brisket end slice offered to be added by the slicer Easy containers available for sauces Togo Mustard bbq sauce was interesting and good. Minuses: Pork belly was a bit dry despite me asking for fatty. Definitely not a top 25 brisket I've had in Texas and not something I'd go out of my way Pork belly didn't stand out as a bbq specific dish. I've had similar elsewhere from non bbq places or at home. Compared to goldees, they aren't even close to peak pork belly. Base bbq sauce they put in my bag was very liquidy and not really fitting anything I was wanting for bbq. One of the guys was giving the carver attitude when asked to help get another brisket from the back and idk what was up with him but doing that at all, especially in front of customers, just leaves a bad taste in my mouth . The carver is just doing her job.

I came here with two fellow Longhorns and three Aggies before the Texas A&M at Texas game last Friday. When we went up to order, Longhorns got a burnt orange koozie and Aggies got a maroon one, a nice touch! Eric R. and I (the only split couple) shared a two meat plate with double brisket, mac n cheese, and corn pudding. We were also given a sample of pinto beans and serrano brussel sprouts. The plate was adorned with onions (raw and pickled), pickles, and jalapenos, plus topped with two slices of eggy bread and a side of BBQ jus. I got a topo chico as wel. At the table, there were other flavored, thicker BBQ sauces including balsamic and chile lime. I went with the chile lime and it was really good. As a Texan and brisket snob, I thought the brisket was really delicious! I enjoyed the sides but the brisket was indeed the star of the show. It was nice to have eggy bread and not boring white bread too. Eric R. also tried Carlie M.'s sausage and said it was good. I would like to return to try the beef rib when I know I could take some back or share it with more people. Hook em horns!

Perfect family joint for Texas BBQ vibes. Came with a big group 5 adults, 4 kids (all under 5). Was easy to get a big area for us and the kids loved watching the guys serve the food from the booth. Corn casserole was SO GOOD - like beyond what we anticipated. Perfect portion sizes and bang for our buck. This northerner enjoyed the sweet tea for sure.

Switch BBQ in Austin, Tx. Been to @stilesswitchbbq a few times over the past few years. Never too crowded, a great selection of items and a very homey atmosphere. Loved the burnt ends, might go light on the jalapeno in the Frito Pie if I ordered it again. Prices here are also exceptional and everyone is super friendly.

A+++ all around. Best brisket bark I've ever had; the spicy/peppery Ribs weren't far behind. Don't miss the Potato salad and Tater Tot Casserole -- It'll change your life.

Are any of the sides vegetarian? Does the potato salad include eggs?

When I was there I didn’t recall having chopped eggs in the potato salad, it was mostly dill and potato, vegetarian sides, maybe Mac n cheese, greens, or green beans. Just remember the Charro beans have bits of bacon in it and if I’m not mistaken…

Quite honestly, I was full after eating 1/4 of the sandwich, which had cabbage, pickles and of course the pork (not the typical stringy pork but chunks of pork bursting with smokey flavor). The mac-n-cheese was substantial with cheese filled shell pasta with a hint of a smokey flavor. So yummy...Well, I might have eaten "all" the banana pudding. I ordered the 2-piece dark meat while my cousin got the 2-piece white meat, both with baked beans, slaw, and white bread. The baked beans and slaw were both satisfyingly delicious. When my plate arrived with a thigh and two legs, I thought I had ordered wrong! Our wonderful server, Kamber, explained that the legs were especially small that day, so they have to serve two instead. The chicken was crispy, flavorful, and delicious, and I loved learning they use peanut oil. The fresh, natural quality definitely came through. And placing the white bread underneath the chicken? Brilliant--it soaks up the extra oil! Service was fast, friendly, and efficient even though it was a busy Friday lunch hour. Amber was great about answering our questions and regularly checked up on us. She even introduced us to their homemade Chess pie--a classic rich southern custard dessert pie--which we were too full to try this time, next time for sure. It consisted of three meats, two sides, and a dessert along with pickles, onions, bread, and BBQ sauce. There was also a set of utensils delivered, but plates were forgotten, but not a big deal. Brisket - This was definitely the best item eaten of the day. It was tender and juicy while adding the BBQ sauce giving that extra bite. The BBQ sauce was great regardless, a little bit of sweet and smoky flavor going on. Pulled Pork - This was another solid meat choice. I did not think it was as tender as the brisket, but it was still enjoyable especially with that BBQ sauce, which was key throughout the meal. Sausage - This was not bad. The snap on this threw me off a little, but it was not too bad. They were large links and had plenty of flavor. Gouda Mac & Cheese with Smoked Bacon - This was actually penne pasta with little pieces of the bacon. I actually preferred this pasta choice here. It really soaked up the cheese sauce. The sauce was not too over powerful and was just right. Beans with Smoked Bacon - These were not too bad. I thought they were a little liquidity, but the added bacon pieces definitely helped. Banana Pudding - This came in individual cups, which was nice. The pudding was thick with a little meringue or whipped cream present and a few wafer cookies on top. It was a satisfying ending to a very good meal. Will I go back? Yes.
