Been here for years. Love the selection and the sides are wonderful. I love their baked beans..and the ham is wonderful.. In the past the smoked chicken was always yummy.. But this time got a mixed plate of smoked turkey, ham and brisket.. All were yummy. Also save room for the deserts... They are open late and worth the stop. read more

Great spot right off the highway. I followed the reviews and ordered Texas Trash which is their version of a Gut Pack or Frito Pie. The portions were massive and my wife and I could probably have split one. The brisket was solid, jalapeño beans were very good, and the spicy bbq sauce was excellent. The difference in three stars versus two was the service and the spicy sauce. The people were fantastic...the spicy sauce should be jarred and sold everywhere. I tried, as usual in first time BBQ houses, pork ribs...moist brisket...jalapeño sausage. Tried the bake beans and potato salad...they were as good as any The ribs were over smoked so they were the color of ham and tasted like ham. The sausage was a bit mealy but the flavor was decent. I could tell it had been cooked a while as the casing was separating from the meat. Brisket: I usually request cuts from the top portion. All of the bark was trimmed off which is so full of flavor...not sure why it is not served. Then, the brisket was cut into small strips....very different. I could not taste "smoke" on them which was strange. So it was almost like roast. I'll be down that way in a couple of weeks and will try again just to be sure as I always give second shots. Holy crap. This place is good. The ribs are so juicy and tender. When you press on meat all juices are dripping off. So good. So moist. Just perfection. Think meat but meat butter. Melts in your mouth. The brisket so moist not dry. So good. It's tender and delicate at the same time. 10/10 would recommend. Banana pudding is on point. The Mac and cheese is a classic, it could use a bit more salt. But none the less very good. Potatoes and collard greens are very good. The staff are awesome. Very nice and very helpful. Store is clean bathrooms are clean. We will be back. We live 2 hours away. But for sure coming back. Togo only at 7:15 but go early to make sure you get a plate. read more

I read some of the reviews before going here. Allot of great reviews with some not so great but thought I would check it out anyway. When we arrived the truck parking next door was almost full but there was only one car in the parking lot. To be honest I expected the food to be mediocre at best. I was totally wrong. The staff were really nice when greeting us and preparing our food. Both my wife and I got the chopped beef sandwich plates with two sides. I had the jalapeño baked beans & Mac & cheese and she got corn on the cob and pea salad. I also ordered two ribs ( they sell bbq ribs in small orders). Going into the dining room we found it empty. This usually is another red flag for me... I would soon wonder why this place was not packed with a line half a mile out the door. Taking the 1st bite of our sandwiches both my wife and I realized we had made it to bbq heaven. I had the spicy bbq sauce and she had the mild. Most bbq places "spicy" sauce is a lie at best. The Still Smokin spicy sauce holds no punches. It has an amazing flavor but also a really nice kick. Not overwhelming but still a kick. The mild sauce is perfectly flavored also. But let's get to the meat - it was perfection. Usually with bbq brisket there is WAY too much fat, especially with chopped. Not so with Still Smokin. The meat was smoked to perfection with very little fat mixed in - just the right amount and just the right amount of bark on it. And the Ribs - these are like meat pops that you don't want to share with anyone. All of the sides were perfectly prepared too but the hero here is definitely the meat. & to all of those that gave a bad review - you obviously have no taste buds! This place is excellent. We have driven by this restaurant for over a month and couldn't wait to try it. Well, it was meh. We've had better and worse. We were quite surprised to find it was cafeteria style, not our preference. The sides were definitely cafeteria quality with the exception of the parsley potatoes, they were great! My husband had the jalapeno sausage, brisket and ribs. He enjoyed them, but they weren't anything special. I had the turkey which was quite moist and tasted fine. With all of the great barbecue in Texas, we will go elsewhere next time. It wasn't worth a return visit. read more

I'm a truck driver from Dallas, and each and every time I deliver to either Keileen TX or WACO TX I stop at this place off of I-35 when I'm headed back to Dallas for lunch. (TRUCK PARKING). Service is friendly and professional, the food is hot, and the environment is clean. I've had the rib plate and chicken plate both of which are outstanding. On the chicken plate it's usually too much so I get a child's plate. They have a variety of choices for side dishes. I haven't had the chance to try the dessert yet because I'm always too full to try it. The desserts look really good behind that glass case. I'll have to make room someday. This is a cute little BBQ place right off the highway. This is our 2nd time stopping here on our road trip to Colorado. Tonight was our last trip to this restaurant. Granted we got there around 8:15 and they close at 9. The brisket was really fatty and they had to scrape to get meat off. The veggies/side (self serve) was not even close to being warm. We're very disappointed with the food. This though wasn't the worst part of dinner. Coming into the restaurant there were hundreds (no exaggeration) of crickets hopping all over the entrance on both entrances. We're thinking...at least they are outside. We get our food and proceed to the dining room. I'm standing there with my food tray disgusted, because the crickets are all over the seats, floor & under the seats. We find a small table by the entrance of the restaurant and basically shovel our food down. We try to leave and stand there trying to figure out which exit was better, because now...The entire parking lot and entrances had THOUSANDS of crickets jumping everywhere. It was like a horror show. We walked through the parking lot to our RV and couldn't walk without stepping all over them. It would've been a little different if the food had been worth the stay, but this was definitely my worst experience in a restaurant! read more

Can not figure out why there are so many positive reviews. The bq was put out on the cutting table in zip lock bags, clearly not smoked or fresh. No flavor unless you count the bottled sauce. The vegetables sitting In the bins looked old and especially the potatoes soaking in water. Cole Slaw was the only favorable choice. We had seen an amazing amount of signs on both side of the highway for miles, so the best thing they have going for them is their marketing. Traveling from Waco to Dallas this was the only food place we saw. One would be better off packing a meal and stopping at the Nice roadside park nearby. Or wait to Waco for plenty of choices.
