I visited here for the first time this past Friday evening. There is onsite parking which is convenient. Although it was quite busy, we were able to be seated without a wait. The staff were helpful and showed good service. I ordered a glass of rose. It was ok. I ordered the mussels as an appetizer and I enjoyed them. I ordered the Salsa Rossa as my main dish with some tomato basil soup. The tomato basil soup was tasty. The pasta sauce was a bit bland. I was hoping for more flavor but it still tasted fine. I ordered the white chocolate bread pudding for dessert and I thought it was good. It was not too sweet which is how I prefer it. Overall, I had a good experience here and I would return. read more

The place is a nightmare. I brought my mother to this upper class restaurant and the maitre' d kept bringing salty bread then salty meatballs and the lasanga was bitter and no taste. I told the waitress and the head waited this and they did nothing. The service was horrible and they played extremely loud music I didn't want to hear. The ambiance was like for a creepy Halloween party. I don't advise anyone go to this restaurant it's like a bad trip that wouldn't end and was extremely expensive. I brought my mother to this mess for her birthday in February. I was left really embarrassed. They didn't explain just said get out and don't come back. read more

Dined here for dinner after shopping in the plaza. The dining room is dim, tables well spaced and they allow reservations. What I wanted wasn't on the menu but the waitress worked it out with the chef to make it happen. The pesto chicken Alfredo was good and I'll be back to try the meatballs. read more

My husband and I came in for a date night and loved everything we got. We ordered egg plant sticks for an appetizer and they were crunchy with a good red sauce. We split the Daube and we both thought it was delicious, great flavor and super tender meat. It came with a Caesar salad that was pretty dry, it definitely needed more dressing. For dessert we ordered the tiramisu and it was light and fluffy with a good rich flavor. I also ordered an aperol spritz and it was good, a little bitter but still good. We stopped in here after a long day of traveling and it really helped us reset. Our server was Katie and she was super friendly. She was very quick with drink refills and very helpful in general. I got the fettuccine sautéd in brown butter with parmesan, it was amazing. I wish I had a bigger stomach to eat as much food as I was given. The pasta came with soup or salad and I got the tomato soup. I could drink that soup anytime of the day but especially after a long day it was nice. The bread was also elevated, it was so warm and refreshing. The vibe was good, it wasn't too loud and they were playing good music. All I can say is incredible! I got the Ossa Bucco and it was fabulous. My wife got the chicken parmigiana and it was crispy and delicious. The red gravy was sweet and extremely delicious. This place is most definitely worth the trip. Loved it!!! read more

Early Saturday dinner. Few patrons, but got there JUST before 2 large parties. Quiet surroundings, even with the parties, and ample space between tables. Scott was our server, and he was on point with everything. In addition, the bartender checked on us, and another server grabbed finished plates off the table as well. LOVE the teamwork. (Having been in the service industry, I know this can be a saving grace for a restaurant.) Bread was brought to the table, and between the tasty grilled panini style bread and the olive oil dip placed on the table, I had to make myself say no when asked if we wanted more. I could have filled up on just the bread. Salads with our meals came with house dressing which was light, not oily, and had chunks of olives. Yum! Husband went with the Chicken Marsala, which had the most delightful white wine, lemon, caper and butter sauce, and the chicken was SUPER tender. In fact, my husband asked if I could make it at home, and in spite of being a great cook, I said, "Doubtful. There's something about it." Leftovers reheated beautifully. My Beef Bushaloni was to die for! The beef was tender, which was my only hesitation about ordering it, and the stuffing of prosciutto, spinach, artichoke hearts and breadcrumbs was a perfect complement and didn't overwhelm the beef. It was served with a side of angel hair, and all was covered/served with the most delightful marinara that wasn't a bright red, which made me think it maybe had a reduction of some sort included; it was stronger than a marinara and something I wish they would bottle. My husband did have a margarita, which at $12 kind of made my eyebrows shoot up, but he said it was good, so who am I to deny him? :) Definitely still on our favorite Italian list! read more

This was our first time and we are amazed at howgreat it is. The service is fantastic- friendly, knowledgeable and attentive. Casey was our main server but three other servers were part of the team. All were top notch. The food was excellent with reasonably priced large servings. We shared the oyster appetizer, as well as the Osso Bucco and Fruta Del Mar. Only ordered take out so far. Ordered the fettuccine Alfredo with chicken but when I got home they forgot the chicken and the soup it was supposed to come with. The Alfredo was still good. We had a bear perfect lunch at Sandros. The atmosphere is so charming and the service was excellent. Between three of us we ordered- chicken piccata with salad, baked oysters with garlic butter pasta and tomato soup, fettuccini with brown butter and fried shrimp and salad and tiramisu. The salad is interesting and has a unique combo of ingredients. The soup was smooth and deliciously balanced. All of the pastas were wonderful, the least favorite was the brown butter fettuccini (the least flavorful). The garlic butter pasta with tomato and spinach is phenomenal! The main complaint is that they didn't clean the shrimp. The tiramisu is excellent. read more

As long as Sandro's Trattoria has been around I've only recently eaten here for the first time, and I must say I've been missing out. The inside of the restaurant is like an Italian getaway and you can forget you're still in Metairie for just a little while. I love that about the restaurant, and that the servers are so attentive to details. We tried a couple of different dishes which included the meatballs and veal piccata both of which were excellent. I'm excited to visit again and try other menu items because I imagine they are very good as well, and I want to find out. If you're looking for a little getaway to forget the world outside for a short time and enjoy a lovely meal this is the spot for you. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do! read more

It's not often this happens, but it was a bad experience overall and will never be back. The pasta seemed as if it was cooked yesterday and was just heated up in a pan with extra oil. Very disappointing considering that this was suppose to be an authentic Italian restaurant. The service was not great either. Not only were the staff rude, but come to find out they didn't like the fact that two friend in our party were a same sex couple. It's laughable that this is still a thing to frown upon in 2024. The ambiance was alright, but a very small place. Unfortunately, this place is just another example of why Metairie needs to catch up with the real world. read more

The restaurant is rather crowded and seems a little dingy. There are few vegetarian options, and the majority of them included peppers which give me indigestion and the kitchen could not alter the recipe to exclude the peppers. The grilled mushroom and grilled eggplant appetizers were alright, but they pretty much tasted like oil. They were very greasy and rather high priced for the product. Also the pasta sauce is not vegetarian, so even traditionally vegetarian options, such as eggplant Parmesan, were not an option. The meat eaters with me seemed to enjoy the food, but personally I didn't find the foods available for me to eat to be well seasoned. I settled in an entree of pasta with garlic butter, spinach, and tomatoes. A bit disappointing to not be able to have other options. The service was alright. read more

Perhaps this place was good back in the day, but it is certainly not anymore. I was gravely disappointed with the food. 1st thing 1st, the service was very kind and polite. The ambiance felt like an old school Italian restaurant - very cute and homey. Now, on to the most important part, I tried the con salsa rossa with meatballs (essentially, spaghetti and meatballs), along with a house salad and bread. I wanted to try a rather simple meal to determine if I would return to try other items. I will NOT be returning. The spaghetti sauce was NOT homemade. It tasted like jarred spaghetti sauce, and not the good kind. It had absolutely no seasoning whatsoever. The meatballs were homemade. I identified bell peppers and onions in them. However, the jarred sauce was poured all over them and the angel hair pasta. What a sad turn of events. The house salad was unique, at best. Not my cup of tea. The bread, garlic bread, oily bread...not sure what to call it. It was drenched in oil. Don't quite know what to make of it. Wasn't good at all. Overall disappointing. read more

Delicious! Love this little secret Metairie restaurant! Our waitress, Emily, was amazing! It was rather busy on a Saturday night at 6pm! We were served with toasted bread and water immediately as we sat down and everyone was so accommodating with me and my baby. We ordered the fried eggplant which was delicious and then I got the panne chicken with fettuccine Alfredo and my mom ordered the chicken parmigiana. Everything was cooked to perfection. My baby was in awe over the waitress. He was totally in love and she came and held him for me while I packed our to go food! So funny! I wish she could babysit!!
