Well... all I can say is wow do I miss my go to place "Taste of Sichuan" in Beaverton! They had a fire a few months back and we are struggling to find anything even remotely good. (We went at least once every week or so) I wish I had good things to say about Sir Crazy Kitchen. For the price of Stir Crazy Kitchen the amount of food was a joke! The flavor was lackluster and bland as all get-out! That should summarize my visit.

I'm so sad to lose my favorite Chinese restaurant. We were near Stir Ceazy for the first time since moving out of the PDX metro a couple years ago. I got so excited for my favorite Mandarin Crispy Eggplant and my husband was looking forward to House Special Lo Mein. What a huge disappointment. It looks like there are new owners and definitely new recipes. Our food was not delicious. Bland, lacking everything we loved like flavor, color, fresh ingredients. the eggplant was covered in raw onions...what? The lo mein had no protein- a few small pieces of chicken but no shrimp, beef or vegetables. The kitchen has been covered by a wall- you can no longer see the chefs cooking. In this case it's probably a good thing... They're cooking garbage back there. We left our full plates on the table and left. We paid the full price even after talking to the owner and the person at the front. They didn't seem to care.

One thing Portland area does not have good option, is Korean Chinese restaurant? Korean Chinese food is very different from regular Chinese food and in big cities, there are many choices., Recently found Stir Crazy Kitchen, and I am so glad gave it a try. Their Kanpoong chicken, not on w gloss menu, just on Korean menu is crispy and plenty spicy, sweet well caramelized. Jampong ( spicy seafood noodle soup) was also really good. Not much seafood in it thigh. Also has Korean Chinese style sweet and sour beef. Nice and crunchy ( request sauce on the side) was excellent as well. So if you are seeking Korean Chinese food, this is the best place in portland area. Next time will try their regular menu.

I recently tried this spot after hearing that they are owned by the workers at former legendary spot, China Jade. And in fact they kept all of their menu from that restaurant also. Make sure to ask for the secret Korean/China Jade menu. So had to try and was delighted to see that the quality of food stayed the same. It was as delicious as I remembered. The jjam bong portions were giant, an spicy broth was so refreshing. I highly recommend! I also noticed that the front of the house was being managed by one person, she was so kind attentive and was working extremely hard. This restaurant didn't seem too busy, an I think that's such a shame! The food is excellent with incredible pricing. Especially the lunch specials. I hope others find the time to stop by an enjoy this excellent food.

Delicious food. We had seafood noodle soup. Delicious. Authentic Northern Chinese cuisine. The chef used to work at Lin's China Jade, which was closed after 30 plus years in business. The owners retired. Staff are very friendly.

They gave my son a key chain on the way out. Thanks!

We came early on a Wednesday night and were the only ones here. What was good and bad? First let me say, we asked for help with ordering. The server couldn't understand why I was confused. I said I wanted the braised pork wide flat noodle and showed him the photo on Yelp. He told me to select stir-fry, then spicy pork flat noodle. I explained I didn't want spicy, he said it's not spicy then pushed the "less spicy" option. When the dish arrived, you could see the red peppers and it definitely was spicy! It was tasty but very spicy! My husband got the Mongolian beef which he said was good - he selected "no spicy". The only downside was it does not come with rice. Just Mongolian beef and lots of onions. We also ordered the bbq bao - do not order this - the dough was really "off" in both texture and flavor. I literally spit it out as did my husband. We'd come back but we'd be better prepared to order and we'd be way more cautious with what we order.

Typically at most Chinese restaurants, especially fried dishes, you'll see a pool of oil at the bottom of the dish. This is not the case here, and their sauces also keep their oil usage to the minimum. The food doesn't feel as heavy, and they nail most of their Szechuan flavors well. Their service is always fast and friendly. There is a gentleman in glasses that is always happy to serve and answer your questions. He is always happy to pack your food for you to go if you have leftovers as well, which is a lovely gesture. They have very cute decorations inside, from lucky cats with fortune cookies in their mouths, or a painted wall with a Panda cooking delicious food. I'd steer clear from their soup dishes, most of them lack flavor. I highly recommend their Chopped Pepper Fish and their Jade Tofu items though. Very flavorful and not very heavy! Plenty of parking is available which is lovely for eating in Portland, do not let this spot be missed if you've never tried it!

Dear Bruce, I'm a…read moreregular customer. I was sitting at a table, waiting for food to be served. On this occasion, something caught my eye. A middle-aged man stood at the front counter. I recognized him as the host. He was having a casual conversation with an acquaintance. At this moment, a delivery driver came to the restaurant to pickup an order. When the driver approached the counter, your staff became silent. There was no welcome greeting, no smile, no kind gesture of any sort. A January chill crept through the air... Without saying a word, the host left a small piece of white paper on the counter. It was a receipt. The driver looked confused. After a moment of silence, the host uttered, "Don't you need to scan this?" The driver was careful and made no assumptions. He asked if the order was, in fact, for his customer by name. After the order was confirmed, the driver looked around, confused as to which bag was actually for his customer. Using gestures, your staff silently pointed to the bag's location, sitting a short distance from the counter. The driver replied with a polite "thank you". The host replied with silence. There was no "thank you for confirming" or "have a good day". Just pure silence. This encounter rubbed me the wrong way. As the driver walked away, the host continued having a casual conversation with his acquaintance. Clearly, he has a mouth. Why the cold reception to a driver? From my view, I see two people working directly for the customer. Both are equal in the work level hierarchy. Yet, your staff's attitude toward the driver was condescending and rather disgusting. The driver's behavior was polite and professional. What have they done to deserve such poor treatment from the host? In the past, I have received orders from delivery people. They delivered when I was sick with Covid and when I was momentarily disabled from a horseback riding injury. More than likely, they will continue to deliver when I'm too old to dine out. Your staff fails to understand the value of having delivery drivers. Without them, there would be no deliveries. Drivers are not your slaves, nor are they your employees. They are your business partners who provide additional income to the restaurant. Yet, they receive no respect or gratitude from your host. Why? In all industries, there are lemons. Just like the one you decided to employ. However, we must never generalize a group of people based on a few lemons. Am I right? To lump a group of people together and treat them differently is called discrimination. Congrats to your staff for blatantly discriminating against delivery people. The host should be ashamed of himself. Let me add this. There are many reasons why customers may choose to stay home and not dine out. Some choose delivery for convenience, others choose it to avoid rude staff. Overall, the people you hire should reflect the face of the business. Show the same face to the driver, as you would the customer. No one likes anyone with two faces. Not everyone is meant for customer service. Ask the host the following question: How much does it cost to smile and greet delivery people with respect? Does it cost more than losing a long-term customer? The food you serve is warm. The way your staff treats delivery people is cold. Give my gratitude to the host. Because of him, you have lost a long-term customer. From now on, my friends and I will be dining at a different Chinese restaurant.

There are booths where you order food to come cooked, and then the hot pot tables where you order the ingredients and cook them yourself. It's very interactive, and they have plenty of meats, vegetables, tofu, dumplings and noodles. You can choose the broth you want at the beginning and they'll bring out the pot. Each pot is split in 2, so you order one regular broth and then a spicy broth. They also have a veggie broth, which I really enjoy. You can grab things from the salad bar, and they have different sauces/oils you can take and add to your soup. You're able to really customize the experience. It's a fun little experiment you get to do with your friends and family. The space itself is busy with customers walking around and staff brining drinks and food, but it's not crazy. We joke that the steam from the soup is a nice facial treatment. Lol. You can end the night with an ice cream cone and lollipop in the waiting room. I've been a few times, and I will say the first time is overwhelming with trying to figure out what to do, but after that you get more confident and interested in curating a soup that's to your taste.

The smashed cucumber salad was super refreshing -- lots of garlic, crunchy, and exactly what you want after hours in the car. The green onion pancakes came out crispy and satisfying, but my favorite was the wood ear mushroom. They did something to it that made it insanely umami and savory, like a dish you keep thinking about later. The fried rice was solid and full of flavor, and you could tell the kitchen cared. The dining room was pretty empty when we went, so maybe it's newer or underrated, which feels unfair because the food deserves more people. Before coming, I did my homework and checked reviews on Chinese review website. The opinions were kinda extreme, some said it was terrible, others said it was amazing. Since it was only a 1 minute walk from my hotel and actually open on Thanksgiving, I went for it. I ordered jalapeño beef 小炒牛肉, veggie chow mein 蔬菜炒面, and string beans 干煸四季豆. The beef came out first, and the first bite surprised me. It didn't taste like the jalapeño beef from other Sichuan restaurants. It tasted exactly like Cantonese beef with gailan, but with green bell peppers instead. Instead of tingly spicy, it had a subtle sweetness. If you're Cantonese, you probably know exactly what I mean. The veggie chow mein was good and reminded me of late night street noodles in Guangzhou, and it also had a slightly sweet touch. The string beans were good too, and didn't have any sweetness. There was some savory minced pork in it. If you're not a strict vegetarian and don't mind a little meat in the dish as long as you only eat the veggie part, go for this one, it was flavorful. While having dinner, I overheard Cantonese in the kitchen between the chef and staff, and ahhh, that explains why I tasted the Cantonese flavor in my dishes! It also explains the two types of extreme reviews. So let me be honest, if you come here expecting the Sichuan/Hu'nan version of stir-fried beef with a strong spicy profile, you might be disappointed. But for me, it was honestly a lucky hit. I did see some Sichuan spicy dishes on the menu, but I didn't order them, so I can't say if they're authentic. But based on what I ordered tonight, I was happy with everything.
