Everything here was amazing. I was surprised to see such a variety of drink in the menu. Everything from coffee to chai and matcha to a golden milk latte. They are constantly coming out with hot and fresh baked pastries to restock the pastry case with, so whenever you come it you will always get a fresh and warm baked good with top notch flavor. I went with the Chai and it was one of the best I have had! I added lavender syrup to it and the flavor was there in the beginning and was really yummy. As for the spinach and feta croissant, it was amazingly buttery and flaky and overall the perfect pastry! The cashier that helped us was very welcoming and kind. The line moved quick and was filled with locals so you know it's a good place to get your start for the day. We stayed at the Hampton Inn and a nearby AirBnB for a wedding recently and this was our go-to spot for coffee and pastries in the morning. The coffee (and other beverages) were great, but what really stood out were the pastries. Excellent pain au chocolate, bread pudding, and other assorted savory breakfast pastries. Freshly made with flaky crust, truly delicious. On top of that, the service was efficient, they have a decent amount of seating, and the prices were reasonable. The food and drinks are delicious. We were staying at the Marriott, so the location is convenient and easy to get to. We visited 3 times and everything was delicious- drinks and food. My favorites were the bagel sandwiches, lattes, almond croissant, and the guava croissant! We stopped at this lovely coffee shop for an early morning cup and a bite to eat on the way to catch the ferry to St. John's. Being that it was Sunday, opening time was 8AM and they opened on time. The store smelled heavenly with the scent of freshly baked goods and freshly brewed coffee wafting in the air. Everyone behind the counter was warm, friendly and helpful despite being young. (That's hard to find) The barista was quick and accurate with a smile. I ordered a croissant with bacon, egg and cheese, an espresso with almond milk, caramel and chocolate syrup. The croissant was flaky, the eggs fluffy and the bacon crisp. The coffee was out of this world! My husband had a chocolate croissant and a cappuccino with almond milk, he was very pleased. I did not have my phone with me, or there would be pictures to go with this review. Maybe next time on another trip. read more

The staff is fun, friendly and so kind! While the drip coffee I tried wasn't to my own taste I can see why others might rave about it. It's chicory-forward (if that makes sense) and for me tastes a bit rusty. However, it was nicely brewed and piping hot and as I said, the service was fantastic so for these things definitely a solid four star standing. If you are a fan of that coffee 'merica runs on, you will absolutely love this place. Tasty treats on offer also, including a guava croissant situation that was delicious. First off, get the Leek pastry. It is absolutely delicious, no questions asked. You can't really go wrong with any of the pastries here, but the Leek Pastry is where it's at. The front of the house is quick, polite, and on top of their game, but the back of the house can sometimes let a few orders slip through the cracks. Because it's so close to the cruise dock, this place gets packed quick. The line moves fast though. I wish they had a proper menu for all the hot goods they offer. The coffee here is alright, and the matcha latte is pretty good. They recently expanded the seating, but it still fills up pretty quick. read more

Now, I'll begin with the knowledge that we got coffee at 2pm. However, my experience was a little subpar at first. I will explain... Upon first gaze coffee other then cruise ship coffee was very necessary. The colorful building and clean atmosphere brought me in. They even had a second door of which I learned it was a future expansion coming soon. When I entered there was music pumping that normally wouldn't be found in a coffee shop, but it was ok. Again, the inside was clean and they had about 7-10 pasteries (sorry no pic). Croissants of many varieties mainly. They looked so yummy. Now, when I walked up the barista was friendly. I ordered a drip coffee and she pushed the button for the .75 more americano and then poured drip coffee. I asked about upgrading to an americano and she immediately said sure and picked up a pre-brewed espresso shot that was previously sitting there. Lastly, I went to get cream and saw some lovely white stuff floating. I bravely tried it anyway and can say the chocolate I added in was very nice and even though a few things were unusual the taste wasn't half bad. If you come earlier I bet this is a lovely place to get coffee. Next time I come back I will definitely let you know! read more

We stopped by Stir It Up Coffee & Bookshop in St. Thomas and had a very mixed experience. The cold brew was honestly disappointing. It lacked any real coffee flavor, and even after adding creamer, it still tasted watered down and bland. Definitely not what I expected from a place that markets itself as a coffee shop. That said, the turkey and cheese croissant was amazing!! Warm, flaky, and full of flavor. Easily the highlight of the visit. Unfortunately, the service left a lot to be desired. The staff seemed uninterested and borderline rude, which took away from the cozy, bookish atmosphere the space is trying to offer. All in all, this spot has potential, especially with the food and unique bookstore vibe, but the coffee and customer service really need improvement. read more

Sadly, we leave today and won't be able to enjoy our daily power ups from Stir it Up anymore. Stumbling on this place looking for coffee our first day here was a God send! Love the coffee, smoothies, and have never had croissants make me crave them before. Each morning it has been easy to get up bright and early knowing they were waiting for us. Usually when we are on a trip we struggle to find good coffee, but this time wasn't hard at all. This might be the best coffee shop I've ever been to. This is located close to the Havensight Mall, which is where some cruise ships dock. There is some indoor seating, which is nice since it was pretty warm outside. The line was pretty long, so you know this place is pretty popular with tourists and locals. I ordered the white chocolate latte and my husband got the vanilla latte. Both were seriously so good. The syrups look like they might be homemade - they were not in Torani or Monin bottles. The vanilla latte mixed white chocolate with vanilla. It was so good. I got the turkey and cheese croissant and my husband got the bread pudding and we both loved what we ordered. The service was quick and the ladies working were super friendly. We would absolutely come back if we are ever in St. Thomas. read more

But nothing -- and I mean nothing -- prepared me for the plain croissant at Stir it Up Bakery in St. Thomas. It looked simple. No frills. No flakes flying everywhere trying to impress. But then I took a bite... and time stopped. Crispy on the outside. Buttery, flaky, and somehow cloud-soft on the inside. It was like biting into a golden whisper from the pastry gods. I had it with an oatmilk cappuccino (smooth, velvety, perfectly balanced), and my girlfriend had the same drink paired with their chocolate croissant -- which was rich, gooey, and just the right amount of indulgent. Oh -- and the service? Absolutely lovely. Warm, welcoming, and made the whole experience even sweeter. I don't write reviews often, but this place deserves a standing ovation. You have to try their chocolate croissants! We were visiting St. Thomas and wanted pastries for breakfast. After a quick Yelp search, we realized that there are not a lot of pastry shops on the island. There are, however, bakeries if you want fresh bread and cake shops. Stir It Up is located in downtown Charlotte Amalie and was a drive from our condo, but it's definitely worth it! I ordered two chocolate croissants. One to eat there and one to-go. I also ordered a bread pudding to go. The chocolate croissant was fresh and delicious. I recommend you get there early because there was a continuous line out the door. When I think of Stir It Up, I also think of the Bob Marley song. I smiled when I saw his picture on the wall. He was an amazing musician!! read more

The spot is very cute and very convenient to a few things near by. The food is also tasty, with plenty of tempting options. The smoothies also were nice. No one in my party ordered a latte so I can't tell you how that process was, nor how it would come out. But the service? Poor! The lady at the register was short and snappy and quite rude. The guy doing smoothies was also a little nasty and dismissive. We ordered three different breakfast croissants and our friend (on a separate tab) ordered a fourth different croissant. The lady had put hers with ours and when told, she didn't care. They gave me the 1st and 4th croissant together and I walked away. While waiting for the 2nd and 3rd, they handed my mom the same kind as the 1st one. When my mom said that wasn't hers, she very rudely responded with "then it's not for you then" as if she hadn't placed the bag in my mom's hands. We ordered 3 different smoothies as well and when they tried to give my mom two of the same, he responded with "then it's not yours" until my mom responded with the kind she ordered and he goes "oh it is yours." There was also an instance where another lady ordered a vanilla latte and they gave her the wrong one. When she said she had vanilla, the girl responded with "no you didn't." and walked off. Very rude and dismissive staff. I didn't get there names, but could describe them if needed. This is one of the few coffee pastry shops on the island. They can be easily counted on one hand. They also have only one register. Because of this there is always a line. Be prepared to wait up to 10 minutes to place youre order. They have a selection of savoury pastries and sweet pastries. The savoury pastry we ate was the spinach and feta croissant. It was very good. The other sweet pastries we ate were the chocolate, the almond, the blueberry and cream cheese croissants, the apple turnover and fritter, and the Boston cream doughnut. All were good. However, I am a gourmand, and would have preffered more filling in all the sweet pastries. The Boston cream doughnut needed more chocolate in their fudge icing it just tasted sweet but not chocolatey. Still the best option around. They also make breakfast croissants and sandwiches at lunch. That from my observation looked quite good. read more

I would honestly give a 0 star after this experience. We have been here a few days and visited this place a couple of times and the initial experience was nice until it wasn't. The last visit involved a disgruntled employee who decided to make a fresh fruit drink for myself and my child, they decided to take the cup to the back and add a mystery ingredient that wasn't added from our previous visits. She was clearly upset from me asking about the status of my order. She served up something unsavory, and looked me straight in the face and said " Hope you enjoy". In order to avoid conflict I accepted the beverages and discarded them. It was very disappointing that we were treated in this manner. The rest of the staff seemed friendly and professional. Nice little coffee shop that has a nice location across a short street from a yacht club. Beautiful location and cute little coffee shop with much to offer. Drinks here are made well and there is quite an expansive number of pastries that seem to have been made fresh daily. My buddy and his fiancé both got the bacon, egg, and cheese croissant sandwich while my wife and I got a strawberry croissant (strudel?) and the bread pudding. Delicious. She also ordered an iced decafe caramel latte, enjoyable, and I got a decafe americano, good. If you are a foodie when it comes to pastries, this is a must stop. Buttery, flaky crusts with delicious fillings from guava to spinach & feta. So good that we had to stop here for the last time while headed to the airport. Everything is fresh here, from their tasty green smoothies, to cinnamon buns. The service is excellent, "friendly staff" unlike many places on the island. So that being, we had to return to stir it up again!! It's unfortunate because customer service is not taught around VI because the staff is moodie, no greetings when they see customers bringing income into their island. I could not help to see how rude people were throughout the islands of St. Thomas & St. John. The tourism Bd. needs to train people in customer service skills.
