Went to dinner with two other couples and had mixed feelings about what we got. I ordered the tuna poke bowl and it was mostly just little piles of finely chopped/sliced vegetables (no sauce or seasoning) next to a mound of rice and maybe a half-cup of tuna poke. However, I had a delivery order on Friday and the burger looked like it was just thrown together with a very bad tomato on top. The side of potatoes were so burnt I just could not eat them. My expectations of this place were not met at all. It's a new restaurant here in Knoxville the food was not good at all. We got a seafood pasta scallops were underdone and dish was under seasoned. I have been to Stir twice more since my first visit and am looking forward to my next one. I can't quite put my finger on it but the thoughtful design of this restaurant and how friendly the staff is. I feel like I belong and am among friends. We love sitting at the bar. In addition to how great Jasmine and ?? (maybe Kaitlyn) at making you feel welcome it seems to cross to the other costumers and it feels like hanging with some new friends. We went to dinner with our kids and everyone really enjoyed the food and our server Abagael H was fantastic. She could have pulled up a chair and fit right in with us. The mixed drinks were top notch too. I really enjoyed the cask aged cocktails. Word of warning, the wedge salad is huge. Plan to share. The only downside to our dinner visit was the high-top seating that runs between the bar and the rest of the seating. The stools are uncomfortable and the table is too small. It really had a negative impact on our otherwise great experience. There is plenty of other seating to include high-tops of better design. Today's brunch was a hit as always. The Baja omelette is nothing short of amazing. I don't recommend the BLT and egg sandwich. The bread didn't hold up to either the heat of the egg or the dampness of the lettuce. The result was one side was moist instead of crisp toast. The fries are excellent. I also saw the biscuits and gravy dish come out and am definetly going to try that on my next visit. read more

This is a must go to restaurant when in Knoxville! We were there for Brunch and ate outside which was lovely on an October day. The Mimosa Mason Jar looked delightful even though we were over served from the night before. Deviled eggs were amazing but was a bit too much food with ordering a full breakfast Plus, you can have cinnamon rolls, salad and sweets to accompany any meal free of charge. Breakfast sandwich amazing along with shrimp & grits & the Country breakfast. Cory was our waiter and he was on point. We did have a hiccup with one item but he took care of it quickly by talking to the cook staff instead of placing in the computer which was perfect. He was great! Food amazing! Tonight was the second time we have visited Stir. We were encouraged to visit for dinner, and dinner did not disappoint. We had 6:30 reservations and were seated immediately despite the restaurant being insanely busy. There was a brief moment of confusion as to who was our server, but Maggie stepped up and took incredible care of us! Her initiative, helpful suggestions and friendly attitude are to be applauded!! She is amazing! Everything from the oysters, the salmon, and the steak frites to the matcha cheesecake and the flourless chocolate yummie-ness were flawless!! I've eaten here three separate times. While they will always do well due to their location, the food has always been three stars for me, no more, no less. She kept the pacing of our service just perfect; not too rushed. They have an extensive alcohol menu. I had whiskey over their large ice cube. Unfortunately, they were out of the wine our dinner partners wanted, but they found suitable alternatives. The menu is fairly extensive and some interesting choices, along with a separate daily special menu. My wife and I split the Stir chopped salad. There was plenty to split, and they served it on separate plates for us. It thought it was fresh and tasty. I had the shrimp and scallops Mac-n-cheese. It is definitely and adult dish, and not your average Mac-n-cheese. The white cheddar cheese was an excellent choice. There was an adequate amount of shrimp and scallops, and the whole dish was not drowning in the cheese. We finished off with the flourless chocolate cake, complimentary because it was my wife's birthday. It was just the right sized portion. It was sweet, but not sickening so.
