    Tonkatsu Ramen
    Seth H.

Was really happily surprised that this was an authentic Ramen restaurant, "legit" as you kids say. Having spent a lot of time in Japan I can say that. The large collection of Sake choices backs that up. The owner is Japanese and he runs a tight ship. My Tonkatsu Ramen was just like from a Ramen-Ya in Shibuya Station. Sushi is good, but the ramen and sake are what you go for..

What a great sushi restaurant in the north Fork of Long Island, amazing dishes, great service, and they also even have a robot that takes dirty dishes into the kitchen absolutely mind blowing

Although I was a fan of Stirling Sake for quite a while, the last three or four visits have been consistently disappointing enough that I would now call this place average at best. The sake selection continues to be good, and the seasonal tempura is always excellent, but all else has been just "meh," and the price point here is too high for "meh." I picked up a salmon and salmon roe rice bowl with avocado the other day ($28); it was missing the avocado and the salmon had pieces of bone in it. The service and atmosphere always feel disorganized, and the menu has not really been refreshed in any way in at least a few years.

Food, the service and the ambiance are superior. Enjoy the heck out of this place. We will be back!

    Best hot green tea ever!

What a find in Greenport! We've been wanting to try Stirling Sake out for the last few years and finally had the opportunity! We were the first to arrive for lunch on a quiet weekday. A beautiful establishment and we were well-taken-care-of by the server who might have also been the owner? Spouse tried the sake tasting and enjoyed very much, including all the detailed information the server imparted about each drink! I had their hot green tea which was beautiful and so flavorful. Best hot green tea I've had! We tried a number of items from the menu since this was our first time here and wanted to explore. We started with the crispy vegetable gyoza and the sweet chili shrimp with local greens. Both were amazing! I tried the Temari Shiitake Sushi roll, which essentially was two delicious balls of rice infused with strips of mushrooms, then wrapped in a soy paper speckled with sesame seeds. An amazing culinary and textural experience! Spouse enjoyed the tuna sashimi! We shared the Tonkotsu Pork Ramen bowl which was delicious and rich. I appreciated that they used pork broth from the local 8 Hands Farm. To finish off, we shared the green tea ice cream with azuki bean. Wonderful! We will 100% be back for more of this amazing restaurant's offerings!

Thanks to Yelp we were happy to find a sakecentric (new word?) authentic Japanese restaurant in Greenport. We were quickly seated at a spacious outdoor table by Connor who took care of us beautifully throughout the meal. I would have liked to meet the owner Mori-san to talk about sake but he never came out, maybe he was busy in the kitchen. We each got a flight of junmai sake to start, served in 3 cute lil cups placed on laminated mats with written explanations of each sake, a nice touch. I had never seen rose sake (made with red yeast) before, can't say I was a fan of the taste but glad I got the opportunity to try it. Spring rolls were lightly fried and very good. The fresh seaweed salad was made with unique ingredients including white seaweed, came with a tangy homemade dressing on the side. However the sushi was just OK and overpriced even by NYC standards. Half of the yellowtail in my rolls had noticeable bright red blotches (see pic) that had not been trimmed away; not an appetizing look. In fact I've never seen that before in all my years of eating sushi in Japan and elsewhere. Also the fish was cut in jagged irregular pieces, not a biggie but aesthetically unpleasing and not the Japanese norm either. Hubbie's sashimi rice (chirashi) bowl was good but very small at $38.00 with an upcharge for avocado. Good experience overall but would order the ramen or other cooked dishes next time.

The Quick: Fantastic sushi, sake (fun tastings available!), And small bites. Great outdoor seating. Shocked how amazing the food was The Details: Such fresh dish, incredible sake selection, and great appetizers. Add in some twinkle lights and outdoor seating on the main street in town... Recipe for success! The Damage: We spent around $120 pre tax and tip and left tipsy and happy. Yum!

I recently have become interested in Japanese cuisine and love Ramen noodles. So while in Greenport I found this restaurant right down the street from my hotel and was eager to try it. The atmosphere was welcoming and zen. The table setting was perfect. I ordered the special Sweet Potato Tempura as an appetizer and the beef ramen for dinner with a saketini. The staff was so charming and the best part was that they had computer tablets to show you what the food looks like. The food was amazing and the portions were large. I tried Matcha Green Tea Ice Cream for the first time and loved it! It was a highlight in my trip and am looking forward to going back soon!

Came here again. The duck ramen is as good as last time. Good ambiance. Friendly service

Adorable, immaculate, minimalist decor. Cute shelf with various Japanese toy chachkis. Friendly service. We were seated by the window. Variety seaweed salad was different and I loved the various textures of seaweed mixed in with greens. Sashimi platter was fresh and delicious. Even had local caught fluke sashimi that is caught by former chef/fisherman Japanese native Akio Kon. Spider roll was delicious and huge portion of crab. Spicy salmon and avocado roll was one of the freshest I've ever had ( I've had plenty ) Tamago was sooooo good. Such a great spot. Best of luck Mori

I ordered the rainbow roll and a margarita, both of which were absolutely incredible. The margarita was served with black salt along the side and it was very delicious. My only complaint would be that this place was a little pricier than expected. Still would visit again!

I have also never been to a sake bar. Have to say....I was underwhelmed. We came in last Friday and apparently it was slow because Yale was off (according to our waiter). If a restaurant is good they should not be slow on a Friday night. We sat by the door on a cold night and there were two other couples practically on top of us. Rest of the seating are high tops against a wall by the bar or up the stairs on another level. We would have liked to sit upstairs but they were closing off that area. Menu was complex as the restaurant is authentic Japanese. Lots of beef options. Lots of Wagyu. I was hoping to be blown away by this restaurant trying something different. I was struggling trying to find something to order that sounded appetizing. I knew going in that this place was authentic Japanese but I don't know, nothing sounded great to me. I love mushrooms so I got the Mixed Kinoko Mushroom appetizer which was $15. To add scallops was another $8. Mushrooms were tasty. Scallops were not. $23 for a small dish. I also got the pork short ribs. Not a ton of meat on them, however, nice flavor. I was still hungry after this so I ordered a dessert which was the best part of the meal. They get some of their desserts from Hen & Heifer which is a well established place in Guilford. I got the Ube Panna cotta. Boyfriend got the Black cod Yu-an Yaki and upgraded to add the salad, pickles and rice for $3 more. The pickles were maybe two bites. Salad tasty but again, very small. He said the cod was just ok too. Very small portions and pricey for what you get. $30 for a mini sake flight. Not impressed with how it was served either. Small tasting glasses just placed on the table with no description. The server explained which was which, but I didn't remember. Not sure if he didn't care or this is how it's normally served, but if you go to a wine bar/brewery, they provide descriptions with flights usually written underneath the glass, or at least serve it in something. Not just tiny glasses placed on a table where you have no idea what you're having. Especially for $30! I was not impressed with this place whatsoever. As this is part of a newer restaurant group with a few different locations nearby in New Haven, we then went to their cocktail Lounge on crown street (116 Cocktail Bar) thinking it might be better, however we were equally disappointed. It was dead in there and the bartenders were miserable. They couldn't wait to get out of there. I have heard that their hand roll bar is very good (Handroll on State St). We have been to their Grocery Store called The Loop and it's cute. They have a brunch at the Grocery/Kitchen location that looks really good. They also have a wine lounge at The Loop that I'd like to try.

It was a bit above average for the area and prices were better than I've seen elsewhere. My husband and I dined in on a Saturday around 6 pm. The place was already slammed with online orders and it did not stop the entire hour or so we spent in the building. Everything is disposable even when dining in and eating out of styrofoam isn't my preference but ok. It's a small establishment and I would guess the overwhelming majority of their business comes through online ordering. So, order online rather than go in as there is no real ambiance. I tend to order pretty basic rolls and sashimi which I think really levels the playing field when it comes to sushi. So, my commentary on the sushi is just based on the quality of the fish. It was alright not particularly vibrant or fresh. But not bad either. The pieces of sashimi were literally the biggest I've ever seen. They were too big to comfortably one-bite. The spicy tuna roll was pretty good and didn't require soy sauce to make it palatable. The miso soup was also good. My husband loved their salad dressing. If we decide to order again I would skip the sashimi and probably order some à la cart nigiri to form my final opinion. The search for a truly killer sushi place around here continues.
