This is my go to Japanese restaurant on the North Fork. They are only doing takeout now but their quality has not wavered. Everything is always very fresh and made to order. I prefer sushi (nigiri) and my wife orders cooked food. Both are excellent. I would recommend this place for the food. It's reasonable prices are a bonus. read more

Just ordered 2 Dungeon Tempura Lobster rolls at $18 ea. For some ridiculous reason, I thought that there was supposed to be lobster in it!!!! There was the tempura batter, but there was almost no lobster, and what little lobster there was, was dry and rubbery. My husband and I have ordered more than once from Sakura, and usually the food is fresh, but this was obviously not fresh at all. The woman that I spoke to told me that due to COVID, their costs have gone up, (we are all in this as well) and the rolls are a little short! HORRIBLE SERVICE I tested positive for covid....luckily I'm asymptomatic. I called in the order and asked them to walk the food outside to my car so that i do not enter the store. Trying to do the responsible thing here. The woman who took the order said no. I explained that I cannot enter becasue I am positive for covid. She refused. Great little place. Went there before a ferry ride and had to take it to go because we miscalculated the time. They had no problems packing it up so we can eat it on the ferry ride. We stopped by Sakura in Greenport recently and tried their Bento Boxes. They were excellent with nice size samplings of coconut shrimp, shumai, tempura, California roll and entrees. While their décor isn't fancy, they made up for that with their pleasant staff, great food and reasonable prices. This was a fine meal and a nice experience. We'll definitely go back. read more

This is pretty good joint! The granddaughter is on some new sushi obsession so she begged me and her grandma to take her. The prices were fair, the sushi was good too! According to my granddaughter, comparing to the other sushi joints on the north fork this one is the best taste wise, quality wise, and more bang for your buck! Ok but not so satisfying Japanese restaurant in Greenport features a wide variety of of sushi rolls and cooked entrees. The miso soup tasted different to me, very oceanic but the ginger dressing in the salad was great. Ordered the tuna don and though the fish was fresh, the portion was child sized and the rice was not seasoned at all. The rainbow roll and the eel cucumber roll were very good though. A mixed review on the food but I did like the decor and the outdoor seating is nice. Service is courteous as well. I'd like to come back and try different rolls and update my review. read more

I've been to this restaurant numerous times the sushi and habachi meals are very good. In the past the service was very good but the last couple of visits the waitress was not friendly at all. She kept asking if we were finished eating so she can take the empty plates. This past weekend I lost my bracelet and thought it fell off when I took off my jacket. I called the restarant the next day and the woman who answered the phone was very rude, she just said she didn't see anything, she didn't even try to look for it. Absolutely beautiful and fresh clean sushi. The service was great and the server was friendly. The chef really took a lot of pride in his presentation and the Sushi for two ($65) was a lot of food and just fun to eat. The sake decanters were super fun and they had a great selection of great sakes for our sake bombers. Its right on the Main street (Front Street) in Greenport and was easy to get to. When and if we ever return to Long Island, we are definitely planning to stop here again. read more

The staff in Greenport is not nice or welcoming. They are so rude in general! They refused to give my daughter extra ginger dressing when we ordered dinner in the restaurant last year. Thought I'd give them another chance, but then... I had a very bad experience today 07/22/20 at Sakura in Greenport. I ordered 3 avocado and cucumber rolls thinking I was getting the lunch special. The bill should have come out to roughly 13.00. They charged us 19.55! When I called and told the girl that she didn't give me the lunch special she said "You did not ask for the lunch special. I gave you a dinner." Well then why didn't she ask if I wanted a soup or salad with my order? It comes with a choice of either. Had she done that I would have said I wanted the lunch special. When my husband went back for my change she got nasty and asked my husband to return the food. Imagine that! During these current times re: COVID she might have resold the food? What kind of place is this? Also forgot to mention that my daughter got food poisoning on two occasions. No more chances for this restaurant. They don't deserve it. Don't waste your time going there. Sakura is an easily overlooked spot in Greenport. It's not by the water and it's a pretty generic looking Japanese sushi restaurant. Like a toddler that has specific food fixations, my bf was (and still is) going through a sushi phase so we came here. The restaurant was moderately size, clean, with a typical Asian theme in the design and decor. Its a nicelooking place to dine in. We enjoyed the sushi we ordered but the appetizer was ehh: Tuna Pizza $10 Big eye tuna sashimi, Mexican guacamole, tortilla, spicy mayo balsamic vinegar sauce I don't recommend this. This was the weakest dish. The tortilla had an odd hard texture and the tuna pizza as a whole was a tad bland. Pink Lady Roll $13 Spicy tuna, shrimp tempura, avocado inside wrapped w. pink soybean nori w. mango sauce Crunchy crisp shrimp tempura with smooth cool tuna. Very good. Long Island Roll $13 Fried oyster with flour crumbs, spicy lobster crab meat avocado with soybean paper and chef's special sauce. You rarely find fried oysters in sushi. This was a great roll. The sushi rolls were delectable and quite appetizing. However, it's quite pricey and a couple of rolls can add up. They really should offer some sort of deal for dinner time. A-OK place. Food was good. We had ordered their special sunkiss roll along with regular spicy crunchy shrimp, crunchy scallop roll and spider roll. Prices reasonable. Service was uneven. My friend wanted tea at the end of our meal but we had already asked for the check. In most places, hot tea is complementary, but as it turns out, not here. This would have been fine, however, after spending around $90 dollars for 2 people, a good restaurant would have indulge my friend for a cup of tea. Instead she kept saying " tea cost money, tea cost money." We were incredulous, to say the least. It left a very unpleasant impression to an otherwise good meal.
