I've been on the rooftop during HH and had dinner service downstairs. The rooftop is a great place to hang out with beautiful views of downtown. Come early though...the place gets crowded before 7. Seemingly, 5ish is the perfect time. They have a few drinks and bites during HH that are very well priced. Dinner service likely requires a reservation, because it can get packed, especially on the weekends. Service has been so-so. The customer service has been great for me, with friendly staff, but the service itself (i.e. getting the foods, drinks, etc. out) have been pretty slow. The food isn't spectacular, but it's solid and there is a great variety of dishes ranging from tofu tikka masala to flatbreads to venison. The poblano mac n cheese is seriously the best thing there!! I hosted a birthday party for for 17 people on the rooftop of Stirr. Making the arrangements was seamless and efficient and the service provided by Lauren was first rate. The reservation, seating and set-ups were executed perfectly. Lauren provided exceptional service anticipating drink refills and food replenishment on a Saturday night, when service at a busy club can be spotty a best. The food was delicious (appetizers included tacos, flatbreads and calamari) and the drinks were top shelf. Music and ambiance were perfect for the occasion, and while crowded, the area reserved for us allowed for non-stop dancing. The price was very reasonable and except for deep ellum parking, the evening was perfect. Take Uber or Lyft, and even those challenges can be overcome. read more

I went to STIRR on a Saturday for a friend's birthday. The rooftop has wonderful furniture and a great view. I was doing the Whole30 at the time that I went to brunch, and the staff was very accommodating. I briefly met with the manager when I arrived (I cannot remember her name!) and she helped me go through the menu and figure out some substitutions. They just opened this Wednesday and I got a reservation for Thursday. Came with a party of 4. I will say this- the calamari is the bomb! Crunchy and the green sauce they serve with it is yummy! Also ordered the Mac n cheese- also good! For our meals we ordered the sea bass and the smoked chicken. The smoked chicken was good, smokey... but honestly needed a little more salt some "oomph". So my husband and I chose to have our birthday dinner here with a few friends. The establishment was nice and cute, so I loved it when entering. However parking was Brutal for some of my guest. We managed to snag a parking spot in the parking lot across from the street for $10. My reservations were for 6:00pm to take advantage of the Happy hour deals (cut off @7). I arrived 30 mins late, half of my guest arrived on time and were seated at the bar until my arrival. I arrived and my guest came over to the table. I did notice that they had to take two trips back to bar to grab their food, I guess no one was available to help them make that transition to the table. Our waiteer appeared, he was really good. He was nice and had great energy! So my husband went head and order a few drinks to get the happy hour special and we also mentioned that to our Waiter. He told us not to worry about the happy hour, he'd give us all the happy hour pricing throughout the evening. So we were pumped and ready to chill and get our drink and eat on! As the remainder of my guest arrived, I switched chairs. As I brought my chair closer to the table I heard and felt the chair make a creaking sound. I told myself to switch chairs to just be safe, but got caught up in conversation and fun with my friends and husband. My last guest arrived and I get up and my freaking chair BREAKS! Ommg ! I was so embarrassed, my friends and husband rush over to me to make sure I was ok and to help me up. Lol but ommg. So that couple ended up leaving, my husband and my best friend talked to security and eventually won him over so they along with this security guy searched for my friend and her husband to bring them back in. I called them and they returned reluctantly. So we all were able to order 1 drink and leaving because the waitress was so rude to another one of my guest. I was over the entire establishment. So We went down the street to a bar with great dance floor and danced the night away. With everything that happened me or friends won't be going back. The problem is I know they don't care. Our waitress was very nice, though she didn't come by as often as I would have liked. We all ordered varying apps. I had the shishito peppers, which were a bit hit at the table. The dipping sauce was great and the plate of peppers enormous. I tried a bite of a friend's mac n cheese which was also delicious. I don't do seafood, but I'm told the calamari was tasty as well. Good selection of cocktails, though I wish their beer selection was a bit better. They were out of Temptress that night and there really wasn't another good dark beer on the menu, which was disappointing. The waitress did, however, offer me free samples of other beers on tap to help me find something I might like, and I appreciated that. I think overall I'd give Stirr a 3.5+. Service was good, but not exceptional. The ambiance and downtown views? Fantastic. Apps were solid, and the HH prices were right. Lacking in beer selections IMO. My friends and I met at STIRR for brunch before the Dallas Pride Parade at Fair Park. Generally our wait service was attentive and polite. Unfortunately, the kitchen did not get one of our orders correct. Our waiter quickly had it remade. On the second try, the meal was prepared wrong once more. The rest of our meal was delicious and though our friend was unsatisfied, we were generally happy with our experience until we asked the manager to come to our table. The manager offered to have the kitchen prepare another dish, however she failed to acknowledge that there was an issue or that her customer was unsatisfied with his experience, and did not offer an explanation as to how a brunch restaurant manages to cook eggs incorrectly. This was disheartening despite the rest of our experience and leaves me with out confidence that this good parts of our time at STIRR should be expected in the future. read more

I have been there a couple times a week since they opened and everything I have tried is amazing, the calamari is the best I've ever had and the desserts are to die for. The mood and ambience downstairs is chill and friendly. Then after stuffing myself, it's always such a delight to head upstairs to the rooftop patio which has the most amazing view of downtown Dallas and enjoy a couple more cocktails. There is plenty of seating upstairs and a very inviting spot to hang out with friends and catch up. The 5 huge flat screens make it a perfect spot to watch any sporting event. Unless you live under a rock, then you know that over the last couple of years, developers have been flocking to Deep Ellum and opening up everything from breweries, donut shops, bars, and now this, the latest (and in my opinion, the greatest) thing to come out of Deep Ellum as of late; STIRR! I had a rare night on the town recently to celebrate my friend's 40th birthday. Let me start by saying I'm not a huge fan of large group dinners. Primarily because it takes forever and it's so hard to accomodate such a large crowd. We were sat at a very large table right at the front of the restaurant. If you're a people watcher, this is the place for you. You can gaze upon the streets of Deep Ellum and see just about everything and everyone! I read a review on here before coming regarding a waiter, Tim and I got the pleasure also of having Tim as my waiter! Someone should give this guy an award for being the best waiter ever! Our food and drinks were prompt and this guy Tim basically changed my view of large birthday dinners! He handled our large party effortlessly! Now, on to the good stuff....THE FOOD! To start, we ordered the Sweet Slab Bacon and Ahi Tuna Poke Nachos. Both were amazing. I am a fan of Victor Tangos Ahi Tuna Nachos, and these are even better! I didn't think that was even possible. If you're a bacon lover like myself, the Sweet Slab Bacon is a must. Perfect for sharing and just enough to get your taste buds satisfied before devouring one of Stirr's yummy entrees. For my entree, I had the Pimento Cheese Totellini. Have you ever eaten something for the first time in your life and then felt sad because you had been missing out on this something for all of your life? Y'all, this dish was perfection and basically changed my life! After the first bite, I turned to my friend and asked who the chef was and that I wanted to kiss him! AMAZING! Everything else we had was absolutely delicious! Black Pepper Crusted Venison- to die! Roasted Brussel Sprouts- so yummy! Meatlovers Flatbread- perfection! The guys at Stirr really got it right with this one! I am so happy of this new addition in Deep Ellum and I cannot wait to go back for brunch with my girlfriends.
