Cavatelli al frutti di mare (seafood cavatelli)
    Melissa L.

I had dinner at STOCK BAR last night and it was a really enjoyable experience. We weren't totally sure what we wanted to order when we sat down, but the featured pizza caught our eye. It came with crushed pistachios, arugula, prosciutto, cheese, and Ontario peaches... and wow, that combo worked way better than I expected. The sweet peaches with the salty prosciutto, plus that little crunch from the pistachios... it was the kind of pizza you keep reaching for even when you're full. We also shared the seafood cavatelli, which was a solid pasta dish. The sauce paired nicely with the pasta, the seafood was fresh, and it had that comforting, hearty feel without being overly heavy. Definitely something I'd order again. We were actually hoping to try the Beef Wellington since it was the Wednesday special, but at $65 the portion just didn't feel big enough to share, so we ended up skipping it. Maybe next time if they make it a little more shareable. Overall, the vibe here was really chill but still a bit polished. It's nice for a casual night out where you still want food that feels special. Prices lean on the higher side, but it's the kind of spot that feels worth it if you're in the mood to treat yourself, and it's perfect for a date night or a nice dinner with friends. I'm already thinking about coming back to try that Wellington when I've got a craving in me.

Ordered the steak frites and pappardelle al sugo d'agnello and shared with a friend. The steak frites were cooked well and the fries were surprisingly above average. I was nervous about trying the pappardelle because I'm not a big fan of lamb and this features a lamb ragu, but thankfully it's not overpowering and the dish is quite nice. The restaurant itself sits atop the grocery store and has a cool ambiance, you could either dress up or dress down to eat here. Service was really great! And the washrooms had some great lighting for photos haha.

I highly recommend stock bar! It was my first time going there and it definitely won't be my last. I didn't expect to like the ambiance so much let alone with customer service. One thing that I would say though is the bar doesn't have much selection. I asked him to mix a few simple cocktails and they didn't have the ingredients to do so, even something as simple as a French martini. I was kind of underwhelmed by the bar to be honest, but aside from the bar menu, the food, the atmosphere and the appetizers were really great. I would definitely recommend you go check it out

Appetizers: calamari, endive salad and the Buratta salad

I am visiting family here in Toronto and they brought me here for dinner one night. This place is really nice! You walk inside and you go up the elevator to the top floor. You walk in and it's just beautiful. If you get a chance, sit outside in the patio. It's really airy and chic decor with twinkle lights all around. The food was delicious! We ordered a bottle of Rosé for drinks. I'm not a big rosé fan but this was dry and flavorful. Dishes I'd recommend: -Calamari: this was one of my favorites. It was cooked to perfection, and paired nicely with an aioli. Endive salad: this was also a highlight. who would have thought endives would pair nicely with pistachio and manchego?!! I need more of that in my life. NY strip: this was a great meal to share with a group of three. We paired it with a side of frites (yum) and Brussels sprouts. Pizza: We had the burrata fungi aka mushroom pizza and it was good! The dough was thin and soft which I liked. Dessert: I am not a chocolate person by any means but man this hazelnut chocolate dessert was absolutely incredible. It was like having a Ferrero rocher homemade piece of cake at your fingertips. It was served with some homemade gelato ice cream that complemented the chocolate very well. The service was also really great! Our server was friendly and made some great food pairing suggestions. Overall I'd highly recommend and I would totally come back here next time I visit! The ambiance, the food, the service all made it an absolutely wonderful first dinner here in Toronto.

Been coming to Stock market for steak and salad groceries for a while but this is my first time coming for dinner at their bar and I was really surprised! The vibes upstairs were very nice, low lit and very nice decor with lots of seating. Service was excellent with really friendly staff, they took the time to explain their menu and give recommendation as well! Here's what we ordered: Sour dough bread - served with their garlic butter, chilli oil and olive oil 8/10 Truffle Parmesan fries - really tasty but would have liked more truffle flavour 7/10 Cavatelli Ai Frutti Di Mare - the picture doesn't do it justice on how flavourful this pasta is, lots of seafood mixed in and was extremely filling! 9/10 New York Strip - 14oz steak was excellent 9/10 Overall 8.5/10 All the prices were really fair and the portion sizes were extremely generous, I definitely recommend coming for a nice birthday dinner for date! I'll definitely be coming again

My boyfriend brought me here for birthday dinner and we had a wonderful time. It's the bar just upstairs of Stock TC. Interior is dimly lit, and elegant looking. The walls are adorned with different selections of wine and there's lots of seating for 2-8 people. Our servers were also very friendly and accommodating. Here's what we ordered: * Appetizer - Bread Basket $5 * Pasta - Cavatelli Al Frutti di Mare $27 * Butcher - New York Striploin 14oz $62 * Sides - Brussels Sprouts $12, and Truffle Fries $22 All were delicious! I just wish they did something special for my birthday, that would've been the cherry on top for me. Otherwise top notch service, and fair pricing for what we got.

I went to Stock Bar with two other friends for dinner. The restaurant is huge and has multiple floors for seating; we made reservations, and luckily we did because the restaurant was packed. We ordered pizza, burgers, and brussel sprouts. The food was very tasty; I especially enjoyed the brussel sprouts which had a crispy texture and balsamic finish. We also ordered the chocolate mousse cake for dessert. It was so decadent, with the perfect texture (definitely my favourite part of the meal!). The service was also great. Our waitress was friendly and attentive for the entire evening.

    Cauliflower was good.

April 25/2024: Lunch with Slipp. This was SO mediocre. The location itself was nice but we were crammed into a corner & the table was too small for me. Our server was a delightful young African Canadian woman that was very polite & accommodating. Always smiling & helpful. I have this place a 3* (and that's generous) because the food was so blah! The pizza (Funghi & Burratta) was $29.00 & it was super sparse with the topping, virtually ZERO taste & grossly undercooked to boot! As far as I'm concerned, this isn't a do over. No pics of this one.

This description may not make sense, but this restaurant has a beautiful "Sex in the City" meets "manly man" vibe which I love! This place, and the bar is popping with cougars and older men hanging out. As to the food, they take a lot of care with beautiful plating and cooking it perfectly. The hamburger is amazing. It's incredibly filling and is cooked medium and oozing juices. Pizzas are great, I think they have a 900 degree type oven but I don't think is wood fired. I order the Margherita pizza, but they also have some unique (odd) flavor combos. The halibut is excellent. I'm picky about steak, the steak frites looks great, but I just didn't like it. The Stock salad is a fave, and is huge bowl of micro shredded kale. I'm amazed how tiny they shred the kale. The only negative is the $5 sourdough bread basket. The bread was soft and good, but if it was warm it would have been better. The waitstaff are wonderful people, always happy. Note: make a reservation if you want a table dinner time or on the weekend.

Good food, good vibes, okay service. Came with a large group with reservations in advance on a Friday. We were able to try a variety of food that was great for sharing. Some highlights being the pizzas, pastas and fried calamari. Given that we were a big group, with multiple people asking for different things, the server was visibly really upset/ did not enjoy serving us. I get it, there's lots of opinions and orders going in, but seeing a visibly upset/ annoyed server wasn't the best attitude we would've liked. The only things making it up was the food and getting our orders correct to the T. Pricing is standard as you'd expect when going out to eat in Toronto, so get ready to spend a pretty penny when you're here.

Great patio space at the heart of Midtown Toronto. The grocery downstairs has some interesting European finds with fresh bakery and deli, but I think the best part of Stock is their patios. They have some fenced-in patio space in the courtyard but by far the best part is the upstairs balcony on the 3rd floor! There are ample umbrellas to give the space lots of shade, and it's high up enough that you don't hear much of the noise on the street. The food has many Italian staples like fresh pasta and pizza and on the weekend they offer brunch as well. The portion sizes are decent and the prices are around $25 per dish, which is reasonable for a sit down meal. Service can be a tad bit slow during the busy summer weekend times, but our server was very personable so we didn't mind waiting for a bit.

    About to start moo-ing rare.

Worst service of my life. Absolute worst. I got my food 30+ minutes before my husband, it was super cold and dry by the time the waiter realized his food wasn't served. The waiter was an Italian man with long hair, in a man bun. He gave the absolute worst service of my life. Didn't come check on us once. Not to mention, my husband ordered his steak medium well, and the waiter brought it out rare. First and hopefully last time in my life that I left no tip. Waiter did nothing for it. Pictures below for proof. Such a disappointment, never again.

We looked at the food reviews and decided to go, even though the service reviews were pretty bad. The reviews were accurate on both points. Bad news first - we had a reservation and they seated us late but told us there was a follow up reservation 2 hours after our original start time. While off-putting, it wouldn't have been an issue if we hadn't waited 15 minutes just to get cocktails. Then, when I tasted my Old Fashioned, which I had ordered to be not sweet, it was more like sugar water than it was an alcoholic drink. The Old Fashioned continued to water down as we sat waiting for our waitress to come back because it was iced with small cubes - it took another 10 minutes. When she offered to get me another drink, I just suggested she get me a shot of rye whiskey because I thought it would be faster, plus I was beginning to feel the need for more alcohol. It really did take that long. Sidenote, I was surprised that a bar in Canada had only two brands of rye whiskey. It would be great if they could at least add Dillons rye as it is quite delicious and made in Canada just a little south of Toronto. We ordered 2 appetizers - the scallops were to die for - a 5/5. We also ordered the Santa Stefano pizza, which came uncut. When we questioned why there was no cutting tool delivered with it... like a pizza wheel... we were told by our waitstaff, who took 10 minutes to come back, even though we asked another waitstaff to ask her to come back quickly, that she was told they serve it uncut because that's how they do it in Italy and we could just pull it apart. I've been to Italy a number of times and eaten plenty of pizza/flat bread there and they were all cut or, if uncut, come with a cutting tool. Once we got to it, it was delicious - a 4/5 as the prosciutto had an odd taste. For entrees, I got the branzino 5/5 and my husband got the agnolotti del plin - a stellar 5/5. We had learned our lesson by then, and had ordered our wine when our appetizers came, and sure enough, the wine came with our dinner. For dessert we ordered some kind of a apple cake that was topped with the toffee like covering that was delicious If this service had not been so horrible, this would have been a five out of five stars review, because the food was definitely that good. The music was super loud, which made it difficult to converse, and the lighting at one point went, super bright, which we think happened because somebody leaned up against the Dimmer switch, because after that, it went to completely dark. Perhaps a covering on that wall switch would be in line. Next time I'm in Toronto, I would definitely go back and hope that the service has improved, because if it didn't, I would downgrade this review to one star because it really isn't worth it to have such great food with such horrible service to happen more than once.

There are more staff than in the previous location, allowing the service to be excellent. They tend to have many loyal and returning customers. Every table starts with freshly baked bread and butter. The bread was so fresh! The three appetizers tasted good. They each had a little kick due to creole cuisine. I loved the shrimp the most. The Blackened Lamb Chops was perfectly cooked. Each of the four pieces were very tender, accompanied by a delicious sauce. The dish had some very nicely cooked seasonal vegetables: roasted potatoes, a red pepper, string beans, a broccoli, and a carrot. This dish will be put into their regular menu in the near future. The New Orleans Fisherman's Plate is great if you want a little sampling of their seafood: Blackened Fish, Cajun Calamari, and Coconut Beer Shrimp. It also comes with rice and seasonal vegetables. The fish was so good! We brought some home for my mom and she really loved it. The Coconut Beer Shrimp was on top of a Orange Marmalade Sauce, which is really liked. The three desserts looked really good and tasted good. I loved the pecan pie the most. They can split dishes in half in the kitchen and serve them on two dishes for two people to share. The restaurant uses fresh seasonal ingredients and spices to create authentic Creole and Cajun tastes. Everything is made in-house except for bread and butter. In the near future, their bread will be made in-house too. Currently, there is only indoor dining but they are looking into the possibility of sidewalk outdoor dining. Mike Djurdjevic runs the front of the house while his wife, Mira Djurdjevic, operates the kitchen. Their son, Marko, also helps in the front of the house. There is a large pizza oven at the back of the restaurant. They will be introducing creole pizza in the near future. There is a separate large room for events, parties, etc. This room will be ready in the near future. They also do catering. The restaurant is wheelchair accessible, but there is no door-open button. There is one gender-neutral washroom, which is also wheelchair accessible, and one female washroom. Thrre is paid neighbourhood street parking. Review 2026-037

Our first sojourn into the Alo family of restaurants…read more.. Ambiance: a hellacute "dinette" format with retro 70s stylings done with contemporary class. Perfectly lighted, which seems odd to say but yeah, it makes a difference. Service: Impeccable. Professional, friendly, helpful but also unobtrusive. Food: TL;DR: "ooh la la" We started with the torched hamachi crudo, which was a symphony of flavour on the palate. The fish was perfectly prepared and struck with just the right texture and char. The candied ginger hits with some zesty accompaniment. In another instant, you're transported to Southeast Asia with a soothing coconutty, tamarind (?) dressing and finally, your head turns (in a good way) when the jalapeño hits. Every bite was a trip. We were in a foodie trance when the next courses arrived. The triple fried French fries were as good as they sounded. There's no picture because my mouth was faster than my camera. The lobster & shrimp fritters were perfectly crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, and packed with crustacean flavour. The sauce was another hit of tang and zest. I think the gastronomical term for how we ate them is "wolfing." The Brussels sprouts were smaller and more flavourful than you commonly find on menus featuring this on-trend appetizer. They were perfectly caramelized and seasoned. The peanuts offered a nice crunchy contrast. We finished with the lemon meringue pie which was a visual and sweet feast in and of itself. I favoured the crust and the meringue topping to the ultra sweet and tart filling but all three shone together in concert. The meringue especially was a gooey, marshmallowy party that spilled over the rest of the dessert. I finished with an Amaro Meletti, which was a nice caramel-cola flavoured digestif and would make a fantastic sorbet (hint to the chefs for a summer treat). Allez chez Aloette, gentile Aloette

I'm obsessed with the burger and the triple cooked fries, so I ordered that again. 'Y frond got the octopus and we shared the cheese bread. Everything was fresh, and delicious. The service is always impeccable. I have nothing negative to say! I love this place. Always a great time and yummy meal!
