The ambience of this restaurant is absolutely stellar, there's the main floor patio and dine in on two floors with a rooftop patio. There's also a grocery store on the main floor and you can even order take out! Overall I'd rate the food a 4/5, the bolognese pasta was my favourite and it came as a large portion. I can't remember the name of the pizza, but the burrata cheese was the cherry on top to it! I highly recommend booking reservations in advance if you can! The decor for this place is really amazing. Everything is modern & has a great design aesthetic. The washrooms have the handwashing station outside the men's & women's then you go through a door to where the stalls are. No idea how the men's washroom is set up as I was with a group of all ladies. LOL. The place is really clean but the greeting area is small & I can see it getting crowded easily. I wish they had allocated more space to that area. At the front of the restaurant I showed my vaccination proof & then had to do a health screening before they let me in. I was shown to a booth which was large enough for 8 people. No place to hang your coats though. They could've put a coat rack built into the divider between booths. For appetizers we had the burata, & calamari. I ate only the calamari which was tasty, crisp & delicious. We got our food relatively quickly after the appetizers. For a main entree I had the marinara pizza & for dessert I had the madeleines. The pizza was okay. I've had a better marinara pizza elsewhere. The sauce on the pizza was ordinary & the crust was okay but not amazing. The madeleines were good. I was expecting only 2 pieces & they gave me six pieces. I brought the ones I couldn't finish home. As for location it's in a nice area, a short walk from the subway station. The wait staff were really good too. Though when it got busy our waitress didn't come by as often. Which is expected I guess. It got quite busy by 7pm. We were set off to one side so there was no physical distancing issues for us. But I could see at the busiest times it would get cramped in there. Excellent, fresh, authentic Italian food! The food is definitely worth it! The pizzas are really good quality and are on par with pizzas from Italy. The crusts are thin and have a nice crunch. The salads are all fresh and very flavourful. Portion sizes are moderately sized, with the exception of pizzas which are pretty big. The ambiance of the restaurant and the service are very good. Servers are very friendly and constantly around to help if needed. Great market below the restaurant and a good place to walk around after a meal. The ricotta e 'nduja pizza is one of the best pizzas I've ever had in Toronto. The mix of sweetness from the honey and the saltiness from the pork are evenly balanced and extremely flavourful. Stock TC was fine, which is a bit of a disappointment given the players involved (Sud Forno, Terroni, Cumbrae), its pricey items, and the beautiful structure it's in. Disclaimer: we went when the second floor was still closed, so who knows if that'll be a game changer. But till then: Think the hot food wasn't as good as expected, the baked goods were, and the grocery section was good but limited. Hot food: - Smash burger: The patties were pretty tasty but their signature burger sauce wasn't anything different. - Buttermilk fried chicken sandwich: Huge and filling, great coating-to-meat ratio, but surprisingly bland. - Margherita pizza: A tad limp, and again mostly bland (tasted like I was eating tomato sauce on bread vs a pizza). - Ricotta ravioli: Good thickness to the ravioli, pretty tasty. Bakery items: - Nutella bombolone: Airy yet heavy, good amount of nutella piping. - Cannoli: Pretty good shell (didn't fall apart) and super creamy filling. - Chocolate croissant: Nice and flaky, though I would've wanted just a tad more chocolate filling. Recently opened 3 floor @stock.tc in collaboration with @terroni.to and @cumbraes in a heritage building that was once the site of revolution. Located in the heart of midtown Toronto, at Yonge Montgomery, the ground floor is dedicated to a modern market, The Grocer, and the second and third floor to the Stock Bar, with a rooftop patio at the third floor. I'm giving a 3.5/5 rating. When you first walk in you can already tell it is on the higher price end and rightfully so. Most items they carry are locally sourced or imported from Italy. Their dry pasta, you can tell that it's high quality and even their honey is locally sourced from Ontario. They have a wide selection of cured meats, even guanciale which is already hard to find. They have a nice cafe area as well, which sells certain pastries such as basque cheesecake, cannolis and other sweet such as tiramisu. I hadn't had breakfast yet, so I opted to get a breakfast croissant and an Americano. I was a little disappointed that it didn't get heated up but maybe its because I didn't ask for it and assumed that it was just normal. Coffee was good, nothing special. But I would say that the croissant was a little overpriced. I think I paid close to almost $10 and it was pretty normal. Good, but normal. Just cheese, egg and ham. I feel like we've been waiting for literally years for this place to open, so it was definitely a pleasant surprise when I discovered its open doors during a recent walk around the neighborhood. It's an impressive joint that boasts far more of a selection than I might've anticipated, with the place offering everything from fresh pasta to extensive cheeses to various desserts. I also noticed they have a counter where you can buy various handheld lunch items, so obviously I had to try something from that area. I decided to go with the Dry Aged Smashed Burger ("Double Smashed Patties (6 oz), Tomato, Shredded Lettuce, Cheddar, Stock Burger Sauce") and it was ready within just a few minutes of my order. It's a decent burger. The various toppings work pretty well together, and the very sparingly-applied Stock Burger Sauce provided the whole thing with a hint of zestiness. But the patties were overcooked/dry and lacking in that delectable crust one expects from a smashed burger. I basically enjoyed eating it, but I don't know if it was worth $16 (after tax and tip). I also wanted to get one of their prepared salads to go, so I decided to try the Kale and Roasted Beet salad. This was a total bust. It's packed with beets, admittedly, but the dish was completely lacking in any flavor or even different textures. With seemingly no seasoning, the whole thing was just upsettingly bland. I stopped eating after a few bites, which hurt given that the small size costs $10! Finally, I grabbed a package of their Nutella Chocolate Chip Cookies. And although they were far from fresh, they were pretty tasty. (It's weird that they don't include the date that they were baked on the packaging, but rather an expiry date that's over two weeks away.) I'm hoping that these less-than-mindblowing dishes aren't indicative of the quality of Stock TC's products, and that the place is still figuring things out at this early stage of its existence. The dining area often requires a reservation so keep that in mind. They are very accommodating and can make cocktails that are not listed on the menu if you ask. The lower area reminds me of Eataly with lots of items for purchase including fresh foods, heated foods, meats, spreads, and wine. Was super excited to eat here because it's around the corner from my friends house and he had been waiting for me to be visiting to go explore it together. The building is beautiful, on the level floor there is an Italian grocery mini store. We didn't buy any of the things in the store but we walked around and had fun looking at the different t items before going up to our reserved spot on the terrace. Eating here was disappointing. Here is the rating breakdown: Food was a 2.5 Cocktails were a 4 Ambiance was a 5 Service was a 1.5 Just to preface I always review based on the food but will be docking off points on the whole experience based on service. For the price that your paying the service and food do not align with the experience. When we entered we were greeted by super friendly hostesses and we were taken to our table. Once at our table, the interaction with waiter wasn't necessary bad? He seemed to be overworked and annoyed. So when interacting with us, he was short and not as engaging (we are not asking to be fake and upbeat if he doesn't want to be). We get it - he seemed to be understaffed for the waiters, he seemed to be the only one that was working on the rooftop taking all the orders and dealing with everyone. The space is super beautiful, and thoughtfully placed. The food was meh. We had one of the pastas, an app and a very mediocre passion fruit tart that was not flavorful. I like Stock less than Terroni and all of its other offshoots. The building is beautiful and we were on the 3rd flooor patio which is A TOTAL VIBE. It's stunning. We came for brunch and had the Caesar to start, and we both ordered butter-based sauce pastas for main. I had the egg yolk ricotta/spinach raviolis and bf had the prosciutto. It took a while for the pasta to come out after the appetizer, and so I think they need to work on timing. It's never this slow at Terroni. The butter-based sauces also need more seasoning as they were very mild flavours. Or, they probably need more herbs to add an extra dimension. The pasta itself was lovely, as always, but the sauce left something to be desired. Would probably stick with Terroni or Sud Forno. read more

Came here last night for dinner and cocktails with 3 of my girlfriends. Delicious cocktail alert!! With 2 different floors, the atmosphere here is perfect for any girls night or date night. Our waiter had a great sense of humour and made our experience all the more enjoyable. The food however was my favourite part. Everything was delicious. For appetizers, we ordered the chicken liver parfait (must try), foie gras torchon, and steak tartare. For mains, we had the mushroom ravioli (the overwhelming favourite), agnolotti stuffed with lamb and beef, kale pizza with goat cheese (very delicious) and branzino (a white fish). For dessert, we enjoyed decaf cappuccinos to accompany our selection of creme brûlée, hazelnut cake, and tiramisu along with assorted chocolate truffles. Because of the wide variety of dishes, and in an effort to be able to try everything, my recommendation is to come with a small group and order several dishes to share. If you haven't visited yet, Stock bar is worth visiting. Upstairs from their grocery store where you can also purchase their pasta and desserts to go, if you didn't already know, this restaurant is associated with famed Terroni Italian restaurant if you're still not convinced to go. Their restaurant have been opened since summer but they're been extremely popular making it challenging to make reservations unless you book approximately a month in advance. I finally secured a reservation and dined in last week. The hostess checked our vaccination status and ID on the main floor, after we're cleared, we took the elevator up to the restaurant. We were seated by our hostess and was quickly greeted by our server. We were given a menu and water. Between the two of us, we ordered a beef tartare to start, the fungi e buratta pizza (mozzarella, burrata, wild mushrooms, black pepper) and the spaghetti alla norcinna (hot Italian sausage, Pecorino Romano, garlic, black truffle). I really enjoyed the beef tartare which came with 3 slice of bread. There's definitely more than enough tartare for the 3 pieces. There's mustard on the side, but it tasted perfectly fine even without the mustard. The pizza came next. It was thin and loaded with mushrooms with a big piece of mozzarella. It's perfect for sharing and works well as an appetizer to share or as an entree for one with plenty to spare. Lastly came the pasta. I selected this pasta as I read there's hot Italian sausage, so I was expecting a kick of heat. Unfortunately, there's no heat in the pasta. It tasted great, but I was looking forward to the heat which I did not get. With the three dishes ordered, it was definitely enough to feed 2 adults with no room to spare for dessert. I actually love this place. Did some WAY overpriced grocery shopping a couple of times before I actually sat down for lunch one day. Was dying for a cold glass of wine but just couldn't justify spending that much money on an 5 oz glass of Pinot Grigio. Ended up with an aperol spritz. Which was fine. Split a Caesar salad with my lunch date. Lovely dressing with a bit of an anchovy taste and super fresh romaine. Then shared the salmone crudo. It was fantastic. Thin slices of raw salmon with a lemony goodness. Then we shared a margherita pizza. Also excellent. It was your typical Terroni pizza which I've always loved. The tangy sauce and charred thin crust. So happy Stock opened in the neighborhood! We love to get their prepackaged food which has to be cooked at home! It's restaurant quality at home, which is great especially during covid when restaurants are closed and takeout is just not the same! Our favorite is the chicken and leek pie. I've found that the mini pies are better than the big ones. We like getting takeout here as well! We love ordering 2 pastas and a salad to share between the two of us. Excited as I was for dinner on a Thursday night mainly because I get to have dessert as well as, for the first time I will be getting food from Stock's hot table food section. Thursday, is the first day after hump-Day (Wed), this is the day that I usually like to treat myself so I call it cheat day. Stock was (notice, past tense now...) usually my go-to place to shop, whenever I am at the Eglinton or Davisville area. But yesterday, Stock proved to be such a disappointment with their customer service, my friend and I vouched never to grab any food or groceries from their again. And trust me, I am not the big spender, my friend who goes there as his ritual for food, groceries, wine, grab and go dinner....,was so turned off when he heard the conversation between me and the customer service person at the 416-489-1020 number, when I called them of the missing fries, that he vouched never to buy anything from there anymore. This is not a complaint, but a feedback which I certainly hope they would take ownership, and improve their customer service. Its is always better to hire the right person, especially when there are so many that is desperate for a job that would provide a better attitude. Stores must remember customer service can result in many cases, turn a disappointed customer into a satisfied customer. As you may be aware anyone who has shopped or know Stock T.C. Grocer, know their prices are not cheap, so one would expect for the quality you pay, you also pay for the service. Now for the story.... At 6.18pm, dinner was ordered, 1 X fried chicken sandwich, 1 X smash burger, 2 X French fries. Everything was wrapped nicely and the guy handed the bag to us at 6.30pm. When we got home, were so excited for dinner. And then, discovered only one pack of fries ... we called the 416-489-1020 at 6.49pm and told the woman over the phone what happened. The customer service representative, said we only had two choices, either walk all the way back and get the fries, or Uber delivery. It did not make sense to call for Uber Delivery as there would have been a delivery charges on top of the $5 for the missing fries, and secondly when you are and everything has been unwrapped...would you really turn back and grab a pack of fries? and then come back to a cold dinner? She said, sorry there is nothing that we can do, no trying, no checking with the Manager, it was just sorry nothing we can do. What about offering the fries or something close to that price point and asking when you would be able to come back then? She did not even offer to take my name and number and discuss this matter with the Manager, or other personal at the store, and get back to me. I don't mean to be calculative, but it is after all $5 for fries and basic customer service 101. So, thank you Stock, but no thank you. I would rather take my hard earn cash somewhere else, as there are plenty of choices in the Eglinton area. Because of the unacceptable customer service, in how this situation was handled with no interest in offering an acceptable solution, you have lost two customers in one night. read more

They made us give up our table for a 'reservation' and moved us to the bar. We walked over around 20 minutes later and there was a couple at the table we were at but many of the other tables for 2 were empty. There was no point in moving us. They should wait until the reservation actually shows up to relocate you to the bar. There is very little space between the bar seats and the rows of tables behind, so you are often getting touched and bumped into if you're sitting at the bar. If you like your personal space, I don't recommend sitting at the bar. Otherwise the bar area is very nice. They also don't have olives as a starter, even if you ask. So disappointing. As a vegetarian that is lactose intolerant I ended up with just getting the bread and olive oil. Bread was just ok. There are very limited vegetarian options and they aren't clearly labeled on the menu. There are gluten free options labelled on the menu. The ambiance and aesthetic are lovely. Tried a number of different things here. My take is that this place can be a solid 5 star if you stick to some sections or items. 3 stars for other items. Things I've tried and my take on it: 1) salad bowls- not great. Really subpar and would give this a 2.75 or 3 star. Lower even if we factor in price for value. 2) rice bowls- 3 to 3.25 star- similar to salad bowl. Nothing stood out here particularly other than their sides. I think the potential is there since they do use fresh ingredients. Perhaps the standard options for the bowls they've created aren't a good mix for my palate 3) pizza- 4.5 star. Really good. Especially burrata pizza. 4) desserts- 4.5 stars. Some of this is also really good such as banana bread and pecan chocolate bread pudding There seemed to be all sorts of gourmet pasta sauces and other meats. Wild boar Ragu, fresh pasta and duck pate etc. Would have to continue coming here to try different things. I try to avoid this area as the construction has been going on here for what seems like eons. However I was in this area so decided to pay this newish spot as had just found out they opened up. First I recall this spot being one of the only stand alone post office which was intriguing. A stand out building which is now overshadowed by a giant condo tower (of course it's Toronto darn it if there isn't a giant condo near you something is off) a pity IMO. The interior has sky high ceiling which should lead to an open feel, however I felt the aisles are way tight. This isn't conductive to browsing and probably unacceptable in the social distancing era. The focus is on prepared food and grab and go items. A decent selection of desserts (I picked up a few will report back if anything is worth trying as so far most are middling). The selection of prepared food looks great so does the meat section (this is a partnership between a coveted butcher and respected Italian restaurant of course). The focus is less on produce which is just fine. I think I will form a better opinion when I have tried their other prepared food offerings. I was very excited to try Stock TC, and finally nabbed a reservation. Many of the menu items are the same items as those at Terroni, however there are many new surprises as well. The oyster mushroom arugula salad was delicious with lots of crispy mushrooms. The calamari was lightly fried (I think they make them crispier at Sun Forno) and came with a great dipping sauce to compliment it. And the tune special was pieces of raw tuna in oil with pomegranate. As a raw tuna lover, I absolutely enjoyed this dish and would recommend it if they have it on the daily special list when you dine. Lastly we had the seafood pasta which was cooked alongside a great broth-like sauce. I didn't love the pastas used for this dish, which had a chewy texture, which would be my only reason for not ordering this dish again. I wish it was served with a bucatini or similar. Not pictured is an out of this world tiramisu. The store below closes at 9pm, so if you wanted to shop after your meal, try to time that out. They sell a variety of things from sandwiches to pre-prepped meals to your average grocery store items. We got a smash burger which was really good, and the bun was very tasty and juicy. One comment I do have is that as a mother of twins, I like to walk around with my stroller and shop with the babies. Unfortunately this place is not baby friendly since there's no ramp, and the grocery isles are a little snug and tight. The elevator was not visible at all. read more

I'd been to Stock twice before, once for brunch then lunch and thoroughly enjoyed the service, menu options and food. BUT the dinner I had recently was a HOT mess Express. The server suggested I try the Palm Springs cocktail ( tequila based), it tasted like spa water (sans tequila) . I should have just ordered a regular margarita. The Caprese Salad was tasty and I loved how they prepared the tomatoes they (seemed partially cooked). My friend had the bolognese pasta and it looked and smelled good ( he said it was fine) . I ordered the Ravioloni with black truffle and I could smell the funk coming from the spoiled truffles from a mile away. If you look at the photo you can see that only some of the truffle is actually black. THE TRUFFLES WERE ROTTEN and the server didn't even notice! It smelled like ROTTEN MILK. I sent it back and replaced it with the BURRATA E FUNGHI Pizza which was OK but a bit unseasoned and overly cheesy. On top of that the dining room was PACKED and the entire restaurant seemed understaffed. I Think I'll stick to LUNCH if I ever eat here again :-/ read more

I had a business meeting here a couple weeks back and I was nervous and do not have pictures of the meal. That said, I recall the staff all being super friendly and the food was very good. I don't love going out for pasta because I always feel like it's something I can do at home. I also made my choice based on what food I thought would be least likely to end up all over me. I got the Raviolini Plin, and it was very delicious. Would recommend. I hope to return in the future in a less stressful situation so I can actually explore the menu a bit more. read more

Located in an old Postal Office building near Young and Eglinton Stock provides customers with a multi level food experience. They have a fresh pasta station, a butcher and cheese section. They also have fresh produce, a coffee bar, gelateria, bakery and prepared foods department. They also have a decent sized wine selection for sale and a dine-in restaurant and bar on the second level. It's fun getting lost in the isles, with plenty of foods to discover. Overall the store is clean, with an excellent selection and friendly service, albeit a little on the pricey side. It's worth a visit if you're in the area. read more

Heard many great things about this joint venture by Cumbraes, Terroni & Sud Forno and finally got a chance to try it! I love how their downstairs smells deliciously of pre-made food and has premium grocery items and the upstairs is a full service restaurant. The decor and ambiance of both floors were modern yet rustic which gave a homey Italian vibe. We had: 1. Salmon crudo: I found the flavors to complement each other, however it was a very basic tasting crudo, I did like the tiny hint of spice from the chili 2. Boston salad: We were recommended this as a light and crunchy salad, it was definitely just light as there really was no other flavor besides the oil and vinegar, I felt this was way too basic and expected more for $12 3. Spaghetti alla Norcina: The noodles were cooked perfectly and the flavors were delicious however the "Italian sausage" was virtually non-existent 4. Ravioloni All'uovo: I was really looking forward to this since I've seen those yolk-bursting videos on IG but was super disappointed in the pasta itself. It was undercooked and had a hard texture. When I brought this up to the server, she took it away and came back and said "The chef agrees with you and will make you another one". She brought out another which tasted the same. Perhaps they left the pasta out and thats why they got hard, but regardless, it was disappointing that for $26 we got 2 large and hard ravioli's (twice) Personally I might give this another chance and order some other items on the menu, but initial experiences were definitely disappointing read more

my wife and I went last night for dinner. after having drinks , we started to order dinner. my wife ordered the black cod but asked to leave off the caviar , as she doesn't like caviar. the server told us that the chef won't make any alterations to the menu . we asked for the bill, paid $50 for our two drinks and left.
