I have never been treated so disrespectfully by a business's BOSS in my life. All over a $10 lead rope.
Early in the week of the 9th of January, I received a call from Russell at Stockyards Supply, he was calling to let me know that a halter that he'd ordered for me had come in and I could come and get it at my convenience. During that conversation, I told him that for Christmas I had received 2 of the same lead ropes as gifts, that I did not have a receipt but they sold the exact type of lead rope at Stockyards and possibly I could get a credit for them. He told me to bring it in and assured me we could work something out. I went to the store on the morning of Jan. 13th. I asked for Russel and was told he was at the Stock Show so another man assisted me, I did not get his name. He got the halter that was ordered plus I had two other items that I planned to purchase. I showed him the lead rope that I'd brought with me and asked about the possibility of getting credit for it. I showed him that they had those exact ropes for sale on the wall display. He said he would have to ask the boss. He took the lead ropes back to show the boss. The next thing I knew, the boss came out, angry, actually enraged, asking, who did I think I was to expect a credit for something that I didn't buy there? He continued, telling me that he "hated people like me" and that he would "throw me out of the store"! I was in shock; standing there looking at a large, heavy set man who was so mad his face was quivering with anger. I told him I'd come in to buy the halter that had been ordered, that I was a regular customer, he didn't care who I was. He left the scene and I was left with the salesman behind the counter. The salesman told me his hands were tied. I told him I understood. I told him that I had been a long time, loyal customer for several years. I had spent a lot of money at Stockyards Ranch Supply in the past and had come in with the intent of not only buying the halter but other items, there on the counter as well but I would no longer be a customer after the way I had been treated. I left with my lead rope and left the halter and other items on the counter. I will not be returning to that business at any time! The next day I went to Tractor Supply in Brighton, where I am also a regular customer. A nice young man asked if he could help me. I showed him the lead rope and asked if I could get a store credit for it, since I had no receipt? He looked it up in his system and told me sure, no problem! His manager approved it and gave me a store gift card with the $10 value of the rope on it. I immediately went shopping for the same items that I'd left sitting on the counter at Stockyard Supply, paid with my gift card and put the remainder on my credit card. I will continue to be their customer. That's how a good business treats their customers! When I returned home I got on amazon.com, found the exact same halter that I'd left on the counter at Stockyard Supply, for less money, (it was not available at Tractor Supply) I ordered it and it will be at my front door tomorrow. I feel sorry for the "BOSS" at Sockyards Ranch Supply, it's unhealthy to be so angry! read more
