Wanted to give a shout out to this business. The recent high winds damaged one of the components on our rolling barn door (one of the brackets was bent so badly the door wouldn't open). We went there to get new parts, which would have cost about $100. The guys at the desk said "hey, you know, we might have one in our spare parts box." If I owned a horse or cow, I'd probably be there every week. But really, the animal that steals the show at Stockyard is the little Corgi that cruises around on the loader all day. This is my favorite ranch supply store in Denver. It is a family run business and has everything you could possibly imagine for your horse or ranch. My horses like me to go here as they like the Stockyard's proprietary blend of horse feed. I like going here as they have all of the grooming supplies, medicines, treats, and tack that I need to keep my horses happy and healthy. The service is top notch, as the daughters of the owners have been showing horses since they were little and have all kinds of secrets to share. They even told me the secret blend of conditioners that makes coats sparkle and used by all at the Western National. So get along little doggies to The Stockyards. read more

I was looking for something very specific. And I was convinced that Home Depot or some such would have what I needed. After all, they claim to have everything you would need, right? Wrong. When I realized my faulty reasoning, I did a quick search and, one phone call later, was on my way. Although they didn't have what I needed in the length I needed it, they did lend me some bolt cutters to cut it down to size. The staff was helpful and, for the 10 minutes I was there, it looks like they would have anything you'd need (should you need ranch-type stuff). The only draw-back is how far they are from my house, but it's not all about me is it? I guess they have more of a customer base in Commerce City than they would in Westminster, huh? read more

The staff and managers do not wear masks or take Covid precautions. In response to understand why, "We are all adults and understand the risk." I guess they are not concerned about reducing the risk for their customers. I have been a customer for over 25 years. Not so any more. They're demonstrating a lack of respect for me -- the customer. read more

Unfortunately Stockyards is too far from my house for me to go there for feed, but let me tell you, for fencing this place is the best! Their prices are definitely the lowest that I've found for all types of fencing supplies, so whenever I have a big project I head to Stockyards. They also sell tons of horsey and livestock equipment and again the prices are the best around. A bonus is that they have a very well used bulletin board in the entry way with lots of fun ads to browse. read more

The people here are very friendly and willing to help get the right products for your horse. When I started college I came here with a list of tack I needed and they were willing to provide it for me. Very helpful and got a good selection of western tack. read more

Great place, good selection. Not the cheapest, but some things were either very cheap or very expensive. But unfortunately for our sport, horse things usually aren't cheap. Good customer service we also bought chicken food there, they didn't have the normal food we get but it was good. read more

I had a terrible experience purchasing materials from this business, which is a big disappointment for me because I prefer to buy from smaller mom-and-pop companies. I was born on the plains surrounded by agriculture and livestock, and raised in the mountains in the heart of ranch country. I suspect that because I may not have been wearing Wranglers and a plaid western shirt, I was treated like an idiot when I was trying to purchase hardware for sliding barn doors. I knew what I was looking for and took it to the counter, since no one ventured onto the floor to help me. When I brought the materials to the counter, the grouchy older gentleman told me I had brought the wrong type of hanger up there. I returned to the shelf to retrieve the correct type when I realized there weren't any of the correct type left and the ones I brought were put in the wrong place. I reported that back to him and he barked from the counter that he would take care of it. Damn right you will. That's how you run a business. Then he continued to grill me about what I was using them for. "You hanging two doors?" Yes. "You'll need eight hangers." That's what was on the counter in front of him. Then I needed two rails from out in the yard. "Park out in the middle of the yard and I'll bring 'em to you." Just the process at the counter, which should have taken maybe ten minutes, stretched out into 25-30 minutes, because he had to banter with another customer. I spent over $200 and was made to feel like an inconvenience. Never again. Looks like Big R will be getting my business in the future. read more
