While based in Portland, they do projects worldwide (like on Disney cruise ships for example). They are happy to discuss design considerations and like to be creative (fountains, rounded edges, intricate designs, etc). Their showroom speaks to this, with a variety of example applications of stone intended to inspire. They have connections with several local stone providers to source the material from. Working with Stone Center, Inc was fun. Jose was excellent at reaching out, communicating and saw our project through from the very first consult to well after install of our marble in our bathroom remodel. I met Jose at their impressive showroom. He showed me around their showroom and where they store and fabricate the stone. Both he and Chris were alway responsive and answered all our questions. I would have given this company 5 stars after our bathroom counter installation however we had a very different experience with our kitchen granite countertop installation. The new sink was installed backwards and we were told there was nothing that could be done to fix it so we are left with an incorrectly installed sink. When the measuring was done for the counter it was determined that the wall was not uniformly flat and that it would not be possible to install the backsplash flush to the wall. This was not shared with us prior to the install and we now have a backsplash that has almost a 1/2 inch of caulking in some areas which has repeatedly cracked in areas due to the width. Had we known prior to the install we would have chosen another option, such as tile. Communication and customer service during the process of trying to remedy the situation was negligible to nonexistent and we were not able to resolve anything. Fortunately there are many other granite countertop fabricators in the Portland area. I would recommend choosing one of them. read more

I had a teeny-tiny little project that was impossible to get help with. Then on a lark I walked into Stone Center and violá - help was given. An amazing tiny piece of marble was perfect and the Stone Center staff finished it for a dresser top as if it were a fine piece of sculpture. Super nice folks here. I went to six different highly recommended tile and stone places in the Portland area to investigate my options for my new island counter top. Stone Center was a breath of fresh air! They were helpful, honest and openly discussed prices with me for the different stone options - unlike so many other places around Portland, who want to keep it a big mystery. How can you make a decision without having an idea of prices? I ended up buying a gorgeous peach-colored marble remnant that looks outstanding in my kitchen and I get so many compliments! The price was excellent with no hidden costs and the installation crew - Jose, I think - was outstanding. Quick, right on time, and gorgeous, top-quality work! And great choices for remnants! Talk to Dale - he was just great and helpfully explained to me how marble is created in the ground and several options to protect to it from staining. No BS at all from these guys. I know where I will go when I do my bathrooms. read more

I was looking for a remnant piece of *something* to use as a ledge for the niche in our newly tiled shower. I looked online and saw that Stone Center, Inc. was in a good location for me to pop into after work. I went in and described our bathroom and shower tile. A piece of marble was suggested and we then went over to the remnant area. Voila...the first piece in the remnant section was perfect! I needed it 60" long and at least 4" wide and it fit the bill. Took it as is for a great price. Having them cut it would have added about $150 to the price but was told that if we have a tile saw and go slowly, we could cut the width ourselves quite easily. That's the truth and we now have the perfect shower niche ledge. Will definitely check them out when it comes time to redo our kitchen and we need larger pieces. read more

I called the Stone Center because i had read the reviews saying how helpful they were to people with small jobs. I needed a small piece of Carrera Marble to compete my bathroom backsplash remodel. A rude, dismissive woman answered the phone and informed me they had many big jobs and they were 8 weeks out. She said they could not help me, but I was welcome to come down and go through their free scrap pile, but it wouldn't do me any good because I would need a water tile saw to cut the piece. I have a kitchen and another bathroom remodel coming up, but I will go elsewhere for those. read more

BEWARE OF THIS COMPANY! This company is scandalous. We got a signed bid from them for 6K and at the last minute they increased it 4K more. They knew we had a deadline to meet and they used that fact as leverage. Don't trust anything they say, not even a signed bid locks in a price with this company! read more

We highly recommend Stone Center. We used them to redo our counter-tops from granite with no back splash to carrera marble an carrera marble back splash. Tim, the owner, offered excellent advice to questions we had, without trying to push us in any one direction (e.g. should we go to one level island, should we do farm sink). He provided time and cost considerations to decisions we were making which were very helpful. We pondered Quartz seriously but really finally decided to go with real stone. Stone Center described the sealing they do on the marble and the experiences they have seen with the marble helping us make a decision here. We are so glad we went this route and love the unique patterns in our white marble. The entire team was nice, professional, efficient, and the costs overall were reasonable. Thank you Tim, Jose, Sam and all the others who worked with us on our project. We get so many compliments on our new white kitchen.
