Wonderful little brunch spot! Not too long of a wait and the service is quick. I had the stone park burger while my girlfriend had the sourdough French toast. The burger was super juicy but a little more dressing of some sort on the buns would've make it perfect. The sour dough French toast was chewy breads goodness. I've forgotten just how much Stone Park has to offer and I'm shocked that this is my first review of the place! Well, let me tell you - O M G. I haven't been to Stone Park in a while, probably because I really did forget just how good it is. Everything from the service, to the cocktails, to the food and dessert was pretty phenomenal. Drinks: Passionfruit Cosmo and the Stone Park Negroni were just what was needed this evening. They were even able to make "the last word", which I'm told isn't something everyone knows how to make - I personally haven't had that before but I hear the name fits the drink (it was yummy btw). Food: We shared the Frisee Salad and the Grilled Octopus - just scrumptious. Oh the bacon in the salad .. I'll be dreaming of you tonight! Definitely love the idea of the crispy poached egg, it added a nice little crunch and flavor to a simple yet delicious dish. As entrees we had the New Zealand lamb chops, Ricotta cavatelli, and the cod with saffron risotto (I think). I'm absolutely mind blown by the lamb chops - the flavor, the texture, the .. well you get the picture. They were simply amazing - melted in your mouth. The cod had such an amazing flavor! Made you want to lick up the plate (too bad we had to refrain haha). The least impressive dish I'd say was the cavatelli - in the presence of such mouthwatering dishes, it was simply underwhelming. Won't say much about desserts as they were a tad bit too sweet for my taste but my friends definitely enjoyed both. I decided to try Stone Park brunch at the recommendation of one of my friends. Overall I was happy with my choice, but can't say that it is the best brunch available in Brooklyn. So now for the good and bad: The Good: -Get the French Toast. It is absolutely amazing. Unfortunately I did not select it as my own dish, but my friend let me try theirs and I don't think there are any other French Toast dishes that can compete. Make sure to drizzle the maple syrup and berry compote on top! -There are tons of coffee selections for a brunch menu--hot or iced coffee, lattes, cappuccinos, espresso. Definitely a win for coffee lovers -Great service. All the servers were very friendly and more than willing to explain the menu and make recommendations The Bad: -Awful awful brunch drink specials. They have no deals what so ever for any brunch staple (bloody Mary's, mimosas, etc). Came here on a Sunday for brunch around 11:30am and it was fairly busy. We got seated at an outside table straight away and were given a few minutes to order. I decided on the blue fish cakes which consisted of poached eggs with hollandaise, atop pan seared fish cakes, served with celery slaw and potatoes and two slices of your choice of bread on the side. The eggs were slightly overcooked (not runny enough). The celery slaw had a nice crisp texture, but was a bit of an odd addition to the dish. I went for breakfast this morning and ordered bacon and eggs, I requested a full order of toast which traditionally is two slices of toast cut in half. My breakfast arrived with one slice of toast cut in half so I requested another slice of toast. The breakfast was good but when I received the bill I was charged two dollars for the extra slice of toast. In most any restaurant a side of toast is two slices so I was annoyed that Stone Park would charge so much for a piece of bread. There are surprisingly few true brunch spots in Park Slope, so it's no wonder there is a line for Stone Park Cafe before they open at 10am on the weekends. Their patio is pup-friendly (although a small dog would probably be most appreciated, space is limited) so we opted for that seating. The brunch menu has your eggs and French toast staples as well as the more high-end items like short rib hash (very good) and the Hangtown Fry, described as a tempura battered oyster frittata. It was really just a bacon and cheddar omelette with fried oysters on top, but it was really tasty. The oysters had just the right amount of batter on them so they weren't too greasy or heavy. There are lots of other options on the menu that looked good, so we'll have to return and be first in line! read more

I was greeted with a smile when I walked in and seated. The restaurant was nice and clean. I wanted to sit outside but it was a bit of a wait so I sat inside. Overall good experience, nothing memorable but then again I only tried one entree and wasn't in the mood to drink. I ordered the Eggs Benedict which came with potatoes. The food was solid but no real "wow" factor or ingredients to this dish. I thought the hollandaise sauce was really good. Perhaps if they add fruit or something else it would make for a more memorable meal. I got the impression that its a great spot in the neighborhood to meet up with friends considering it wasn't to crowded on a Sat morning during brunch hours. The most notable thing about Stone Park is its reliability. The food has always been good the few times I've visited for dinner - just interesting enough to comment on but not be put off by (for those with more delicate constitutions). It makes this somewhat more traditional restaurant a great casual go-to for upper-income Park Slope peeps. The one-page menu has a farm-to-table feel. They have a prix fixe option, but there's something Goldilocks-perfect about choosing appetizer + 1/2 portion pasta + dessert. Must-gets: - grilled octopus appetizer - shaved brussels sprout salad (I know, so lame, but I adored this) - swiss chard raviolini - pumpkin panna cotta (no idea if this will reappear in the fall, but they always do panna cotta right) - sourdough bread (okay, this comes free to the table, but it's warm and delightful) The fantastically friendly service definitely looks to please. The decor is unobtrusive, even dull, especially if you're a larger group and sit in the "lower" section with tables close to the kitchen. A good summary would be: BEIGE. Although this place is known for the food, I have to give it up to the person responsible for the playlist. Old-school hip hop and feel good jams help the delicious food go down. My second time here and it did not disappoint. This place gets packed for brunch on a Saturday afternoon but we were seated right away and had very attentive and quick service the entire time. I ordered the quiche with salad on the side. The salad came with marinated tomatoes and a lemon vinaigrette that was delicious. The quiche was warm and moist. Hats off to the pastry chef. Made with cheddar and mushrooms, it was flavorful and fluffy. We split a side of the grits (without shrimp) and that was the only disappointment. They throw a poached egg on top and garnish with scallions. If I had known this, I would have asked the waiter to hold both. It seems that the scallions and egg were added to give more flavor to the grits because as I ate around them, I realized they were underwhelming. Compared to the grits we had here a few months ago, they lacked the rich and delicious flavor they used to have. Why mess with perfection? We topped off our brunch with fresh squeezed orange juice and the blood orange champagne cocktail. The cocktail was tart and packed a little punch. After a rigorous 3.5 hour session at the Brooklyn Boulders rock gym (belay certified bitches!), I decided to grab a late brunch in the Park Slope area. I wanted something "brunchy" but not overly so. The thought of bacon and pancakes did not appeal to me as I had just spent three plus hours attempting to burn off a pound of pasta I had eaten the night before. After using my Yelp app to scout places nearby, I came upon Stone Park Café which had glowing brunch reviews. I came in around 2:45 and still had to wait 5 minutes to get a table. You can tell this place is pretty popular amongst the locals with everyone laughing, talking and downing Bloody Marys and Mimosas. Once I was seated, I was handed a menu and stared at it intently for five minutes before being asked if I was ready. I was torn between so many delicious looking options that I asked my waitress for help. In the end, I decided upon the Pan Seared Bluefish Cakes with celery root slaw, poached eggs and caper Hollandaise. It came with toast too so I had a choice between white, wheat, rye, and sourdough. I have a tremendous liking for crab cakes and after being told that the fishcakes were prepared in that style, I was sold. (Just to note, almost all the brunch options are in the $12-17 range with sides being in the $3-7 range. It's not especially cheap but I don't think it qualifies as expensive either.) My dish came out about 10 minutes later piping hot with two slices of freshly toasted wheat bread on the side. Mmm lightly buttered toast. Before diving in and devouring my meal, I took a picture of it to capture its beauty. Everything tasted so fresh and homemade from scratch. The celery root slaw was so yummy and I'm not even fond of coleslaw! The potatoes were slightly crispy on the outside, just how I like 'em. The eggs looked like fluffy little white pillows topped with a creamy Hollandaise sauce with capers. With an effortless slice of my knife, the golden, runny yolk oozed out and drenched the fishcake beneath them. I had a wonderful time trying to scoop fishcake, egg, Hollandaise sauce, and caper all into one bite on my fork. The cakes were lightly crisp on the outside and soft and flaky on the inside which were comprised of mostly meat and very little breading. I asked for a little lemon to sprinkle on my cake as I always do that for my seafood. Old habits die hard. The whole meal was scrumptious and there was nothing left on my plate at the end save a slice of toast and a few crumbs. I highly recommend this dish if you are craving something delectable that departs away from the standard brunch options. Despite the couple next to me arguing bitterly over something stupid that only couples would do in a public place, I had a very relaxing and delicious meal. The staff kept asking me how I liked it and were very attentive in a non-overbearing way. Throughout my brunch I took note of the odd choice in music that was being played especially for the type of place Stone Park Café is. I specifically recall hearing Black and Yellow and F*ck You and watching the wait staff lip syncing the words while chilling in the front inbetween serving their tables. Ha. In hindsight, I probably should have gotten a Bloody Mary but drinking alone on a Sunday afternoon is against my rules. I can't wait to go back to Stone Park Café for another brunch and try their Eggs Benedict, Short Rib Hash and the Hangtown Fry (as I couldn't order all of those for myself this time). Oh and biscuits. I saw their biscuits and now I want those biscuits. Nothing is more delicious for brunch than a freshly baked biscuit that you almost choke on after taking a humongous bite of once inhaling its intoxicating smell. We stopped in on a nice Saturday and were seated outside by our confident but clueless waiter, who insisted it was called ginger beer despite being nonalcoholic 'because there's hops'. We made the mistake of still ordering it and received an 8.45 oz bottle with caramel color and some other crap. Service remained horrible through the rest of our visit, with said server a mix of nonexistent and then completely oblivious/fake-deaf. The umbrella pole and chair/table setup made it incredibly uncomfortable (as did the dirty glasses and tabletop), but not nearly as awkward as the appallingly loud screamo "music" from the kitchen. Stone Park is a staple in the Park Slope neighborhood with its amazing brunch and innovative dinner menu and outstanding cocktails. The patio is a great place to relax and people watch. They welcome dogs and kids, but manage to also be a place you'd like to celebrate a special occasion. They renovated the pizza place next door into a beautiful event space! The staff are welcoming and attentive. The menu always changes, but every homemade pasta dish we've had is excellent. I usually order whatever fish is in season and haven't been disappointed. My husband enjoys the burger, steak and pork chops. At brunch, I have a hard time choosing from a very wide selection. The Bone Marrow Tacos and the tagliatelle really stood out. They have a great, well organized wine list which made it easy to pick exactly what we wanted. Our sever was named Red and he was on point. The "scrambled eggs with bacon" brunch dish should be renamed "bacon with scrambled eggs" because three extra-long, extra-wide, perfectly crisped and spiced strips of bacon dominate the plate. The eggs were pretty good too, and I appreciated the choice of sourdough toast, but the bacon was what transformed a good dish into a food-gasm. I came to Stone Park Cafe on a nice Sunday afternoon. I was told that it would be about a 45 minute wait for a table. I had tried to call an hour or so prior but there were no reservations for brunch. There was no way that I was going to wait 45 minutes for eggs. Steak maybe, but not eggs. Luckily there were a few spots at the bar so I decided to just eat there. The bartender was really nice and the food came out quickly. I tried the following: Biscuits & Gravy w/ eggs: This was definitely my favorite dish. The biscuits and the gravy were flavorful and delicious. If I come back here for brunch I would definitely get this dish. Corn Beef Hash w/ poached eggs: The eggs were good, The corn beef was okay to me. The beef was actual pieces of beef (and by that I mean not ground beef) which was nice but the dish did not blow my mind and it was cold. Pancakes & Sausage: I was told that it tasted like McDonalds breakfast. Now I actually like McDonalds breakfast but the price point is clearly different here so that's not cool. Overall this place is hip. Tons of young people, very crowded. One of those "places to be." I would return but I am in no rush to do so. read more

Let me tell you, the scallops on bone marrow and that squid ink pasta, are the best of Park Slope, especially that bone marrow taco, with avocado and cilantro, sea salt and pan seared scallops, are the perfect match. I don't even like tacos but this is perfect. The squid ink pasta is basically squid ink fettucine, cooked to the point that is neither too overly done or not-quite-so-well-done, I prefer my pasta chewy, but cooked well, if you know what I mean, the seafood on top of it, notably the shrimps are so good. This is better than what I had in Venice, Italy. We also ordered hanger steaks, it's cooked medium rare, so tendered as well, the flavor melted in my mouth, the sauce was homemade, was not bloody or commercial-sauce flavored, my guy friend who had recently been to Peter Luger's said that Stone Park Cafe served better steak. Word. For brunch, I vaguely remember ordering egg bennies, because they are all to my brunch preference, I always try egg bennies at brunch spots. Stone Park Cafe is incredibly busy for brunch, but the positive ratings and long wait shouldn't be your reasons to give into such hype. The food is generally fine, but I wouldn't wait more than 30 minutes for it like on the first visit. We had a really disappointing experience the first time, with the slim likelihood of a return. We waited 20 minutes initially for a table on a Sunday afternoon, which wasn't terrible at all. As soon as we sat, no one served water or brought us menus until what felt like 30 minutes later of flagging down the hostess. We were also seated right in front of the register, where every server should have noticed we've been sitting there unattended the entire time. We were not the only table sitting unattended for longer than necessary. I was about ready to get up and leave, and I wish I had. Our waiter, who was seemingly busy of course, was barely providing us service. We ordered as soon as he finally decided to greet us. I had The Spicy Omelette and my bf had the pancakes with side of breakfast sausage. The omelette was good, eggs were nice and fluffy. The wheat toast was basic and slightly undertoasted. The side of home fries was nice and crispy. My bf's pancakes were fine, but I thought the blueberry compote was a tad too sweet. Overall, an average brunch meal that wasn't worth the wait. Understandably, it's a local neighborhood brunch spot, but there are a ton of other restaurants around Brooklyn that are worth the slight pain of waiting. This wait was just unnecessarily painful and long. The food was generally okay, but given the terrible service upon being seated, I wasn't sure if they just wanted customers to get up and leave. While it was very busy, it seems inexcusable to not even serve your customers water or provide a menu upon sitting down. No apologies either for the wait. My server was prompt his name was Tim and he very friendly and personable unlike the two guys (one being Josh) dressed in regular attire. I watched from my table as these two guys went around the restaurant and ask people how their food was and how they were doing passing by my little table each time with ease. Mind you I was dressed in my workout pants and shirt with a nice sweater that I slipped on from my backpack over my workout clothes. This doesn't make me less of a person or less of a respected guest due to my dress attire as I thought enough of this restaurant to still patronize after a grueling day at work (Healthcare IT) followed by Jazzercise and a pedi and mani and straight to dinner before retiring to my hotel room for the night as I come in NYC for business several times a month. I had this place on my list to visit and the food DID NOT disappoint AT ALL nor did the service from my server and the other servers. My disappointment came when I saw how the managers (I presume) felt that it was okay to just pass me by with the smiles and the welcomes and the check-ups. NOT COOL, I work hard and am a customer just like the others and I deserve all that is given to customers. Now back to why I would LOVE to be friends with Josh.. The table next to me (party of 4) were treated like royalty. They tasted all types of wines, small taste of soup from the kitchen, got checked on several times by Josh as well as their server (Tim who is awesome and was my server) and just got the ultimate experience. I take it they know Josh so I do understand the royal treatment as I have very close ties to chefs in Chicago and Charlotte that my husband and I get royal treatment when we patronize so that's understandable. BUT I must say our chef friends still treat all others with kindness especially those seated closet to use because they value their customers and want them all to feel special so a simple "Hey how are you doing, is everything okay" will suffice when they are leaving our table. Now the FOOD: I choose to rock with the Market menu which was a 3 course meal. I started with the Arugula and Beet salad which was good. I didn't finish it as I planned to take it and wanted to enjoy a little of everything I had coming for the night. I ended up ordering the butternut squash soup (after seeing a small serving being given to Josh friends) only to have it brought out in a larger serving which I wasn't expecting. Tim informed me that the small serving I saw was for friends of the restaurant which i understandable. The soup had so much flavor I ate some and pushed it to the side as I still had two servings to go. Next course was my main course which was a flavorful piece of cod over a bed of sauteed spinach and a grit cake with a lovely sauce. I couldn't barely eat it as I was stuff but I did take a piece of each item and savor for the night. The rest I had to take to go. Finally the dessert was my last course which was a chocolate mouse cake which was very tasty, not to rich and very moist yet firm. The marker menu 3 course was $38 which isn't a bad deal in the Big Apple. I would go back in the future ONLY if I am DRESSED the part as I believe I would get more appreciation from the managers.. I used to live down the block from the location that would become Stone Park Café, so I was quite intrigued when what I used to know as an unused storefront (and one time bodega) was now a trendy looking cafe/restaurant serving breakfast. My friends and I wanted brunch, but not just something for McDonalds or something. This fit the bill perfectly. We sat outside, something I rarely do but it was super comfortable (and the weather was perfect). As pigeons wandered by and kids played across the street in the park, we enjoyed each other's company and then tried to figure out what the heck we were going to order. The problem is simple: everything on the menu looks insanely good. Finally I settled on an egg white omelet with spinach, onion and garlic. Truth be told, the garlic is what sold me. Roasted garlic? On an OMELET?! You damn right I'm going to try that! Omelets are one of those foods that rarely have a middle ground. They're either very "Meh" or they're awesome. Stone Park does them AWESOME. The roasted garlic was so flavorful and soft it melted in your mouth. The spinach was perfectly cooked and the eggs were moist and springy. Excellent stuff. So we came in here yesterday to celebrate my wife's birthday! I was very pleased overall with my experience dining here but here's the breakdown: Service: very on point! They were very attentive from the moment you walk in, very accommodating with seating preferences and very polite staff throughout the whole dinner. Decor: very romantic lighting, dimmed with candles, tall stem glasses for everything, window seating available; pretty nice date spot Food: here's where they dropped the ball a bit.. I ordered the burger which came out and was very visually appealing but when I bit into it.. I got a headache from the amount of salt that went into seasoning the burger.. And of course the ketchup didn't help. My wife got the chicken breast which was cooked very well; meat was very tender and fell off the bone, chicken wasn't overcooked and seasoned perfectly! The pasta served on the side wasn't so great as the consistency of it wasn't. The bread they served was pretty good with the butter. We ordered two sides as well: onion rings and truffled mashed potatoes. The onion rings were on point, very soft, crispy, "buttery flakey" taste to it but I'd skip the mashed potatoes; tasted like a pre-mix type of deal. Definitely try their bacon wrapped scallops! Hubby and I are agreeing that overall, Stone Park Cafe earns a rating between 2.5-3. The service was very good, and they had a cute outdoor dining space (we went during the summer time). The venue is clean, and the food is tasty. Cons include: Small portions, higher than average price tag, and unappetizing appetizers. Overall, we really don't recommend Stone Park Cafe since the food quality doesn't match the price point charged. read more

I wouldn't describe it as mind-blowingly awesome, but I wouldn't describe it as mind-blowingly bad either. The quality is what you'd expect in this price range. 4. The space. Well-lit inside, decent sized area outside. The wtf? -The music. Some of it just didn't fit whatsoever. Club music at a restaurant like this? On a Sunday morning? Uh, NO. In between the club music, there were a few songs from the Pulp Fiction soundtrack. It was a little bizarre. If the restaurant was trying to get patrons to notice the background music, it succeeded. In the hundreds of reviews I've written on yelp, i'm pretty sure this is the first time I've commented on a restaurant's music. Overall a pretty solid restaurant. I recommend it if you're in the neighborhood looking for a nice brunch spot, but it isn't worth seeking out. read more

Had lunch here and was very content. My friend and I shared the grilled baby octopus, squid ink tagliatelle and the swiss chard raviolini. The grilled baby octopus had a very nice soft texture, not the usual super chewiness you would get from eating octopus. The bits of chorizo and the sauce made it all come together very nicely. The tagliatelle had big gulf shrimp and was pretty good, although I did enjoy my raviolini dish a lot more. It managed to get me very full despite its size. I would definitely come back here and try brunch! read more

I went to Stone Park Cafe today for brunch due to the rave reviews. I was thoroughly disappointed. The service and warmth of the people was great. Except, when I first entered, music was playing so loudly the walls shook. The food was lackluster and, honestly, pretty bland. The breakfast quesadilla wasn't tasty at all and the omelet I ordered wasn't really an omelet. It was scrambled eggs wrapped around the chosen omelet ingredients - pretty weird. Biscuit was tasteless, butter was salt less and the French fries were mediocre at best. Their saving grace was truly the kind, down to earth staff. Nice folks. Wish the food reflected the staff. Maybe I got them on a bad day? 45 minute wait for lackluster food? I should've stayed in my own neighborhood and gone to Buttermilk Channel. read more

I had an extra horrific brunch service SNAFU last week, albeit the super food... so when my friends asked me about going there for dinner last night I was torn. Sat at the bar with the lovely Meghan, who btw makes the best Bloody Mary mix for brunch... And it was great. The Brussel Sprout salad is friggin' amazing. The dressing is perfect. And the mandolin shredding of the sprouts is enviable. I also had the short rib slider with quail egg. Just enough food to send me home perfectly full and happy. Therefore I will chalk that aberrant previous visit up to a one time thing. But like I told the manager, if I ever get seated in that one waiter's section again... I will not return. read more

The grilled chicken sandwich hit the spot for lunch. Loved the bread, chicken wasn't too dry and yummy avocados inside. It comes with a side of french fries, soup or salad. Soup of the day was a corn bisque type which was what I got. It's bloody 90 degrees outside and I get hot soup..lol. Soup had moderate flavor, it was light. I didn't quite like the look. It honestly looked like yellow paint when I opened the container. I ordered it to go. Maybe the restaurant it would have been presented better in a nice bowl. But at home, in those little plastic to go container..it had little to no visual appeal. A few drops of corn would be a good addition as well. The plain paint-yellowness of it made it look blah. Have you ever had a nightmare where you heard a baby crying, and then you looked around and EVERYONE was pregnant, and there were infants and toddlers EVERYWHERE? That's kind of what happens at Stone Park Café, except instead of a nightmare it's just a really good brunch, and I'm sorry for the mixed imagery. I went for brunch, and put my name on the list at 10 in the morning to try to avoid the wait. Don't do that, they told me. But it kind of worked, because I was able to get a seat within 15 minutes instead of an hour and a half when I came back at 11:20. I got The Chef Omelet (with pico on the side), which came out looking like a bright yellow taco bell burrito and tasted like the exact opposite of what a bright yellow taco bell burrito would (probably) taste like. The sausage inside is amazing, and the eggs and ingredients mix together so well it's almost impossible to not eat the whole thing in less than 5 minutes. We also got the short rib hash with egg, and I'll be completely honest - I have no idea what a short rib hash is. But it's super tasty, and how much do you really care? It was some sort of egg-potato-meat combination that is apparently a thing, and that's good enough for me. Delicious. I have to give it 4 stars because I ate at Montmartre the day before, and nothing could beat that. But it's definitely worth a visit! (Bring your baby repellant.) read more

Didn't really want to come here until there was some sort of special occasion (as prices are a bit fancy) and when Courtney J came to visit, brunch was definitely on. Their food is amazing. Their home made pastas are more or less life changing, and their cocktails are creative and powerful! The second time we went, it took a very very long time to get our appetizers. We were having a great time catching up and drinking cocktails, so though it did not go unnoticed, we were not peeved. They were so apologetic, and when the bill came they had comped both our appetizers and our desserts. Love this place! read more
