Stopped here while on a cross country road trip. The service was fantastic, we were seated promptly. We noticed the interesting light fixtures right away. The restaurant had an interesting vibe to it and the bar looked pretty cool with fancy backlighting. The waiter was there right away getting us drinks. He was really helpful with the menu offering suggestions. Our food also came out surprisingly quick, it felt like 5 minutes which was crazy. My burger was fantastic, honestly one of the best I've had in recent memory. The Bbq flat bread was great too (had one bite of my wife's dinner). My youngest loved the lasagna too. The kids chicken nuggets were a let down, they lacked flavor and were pretty dry. Overall, 3 out of 4 meals were great. They also give free warm rolls with 2 different butters. These were super fluffy and tasted great. If I lived around here I would definitely be back. Next time we tour the Biltmore we will have to make a stop here. read more

We went with the club sandwich with fries and the lasagna with a Caesar salad. Both were delicious. Portions are very good. Neither of us could finish the meals! We had a great meal here after traveling most of the day. Our server was Cole, who was awesome. First, the rolls are super pillowy and delicious with the honey butter. We ate too many of them. The salads were fresh and with really good dressings. We have been staying away from salads lately due to the cspore outbreak and took a chance here. Lettuce did not seem to come from a bag. No issues so far. My wife had vegetable lasagne. It was very good and had crisp vegetables in it. It had lots of cheese. It was great. I had the mtn trout. Two large pieces of fish. Almost more than I could eat. Tried it broiled which was excellent. We were too full to try dessert. This is a sit down full service restaurant with a full bar. Great service. We visited Stone Ridge Tavern on a Sunday for lunch. We got there for the early seating - by the time we left, people were waiting to be seated... this place is popular! Though we came at lunch time, we were provided with the dinner menu (so I guess it's all-day dinner on weekends). I ordered the Fried Green Tomatoes as a starter, which is served with feta cheese and a balsamic reduction. The tomatoes were thickly cut and ate a bit clunky. Because of their size, I think there was some steaming action going on, as the tomatoes were soggy on the inside. I always enjoy a balsamic reduction, and liked the flavor on the dish overall. They were heavy-handed with the feta. This was the first time that I had fried green tomatoes served with feta - I'm used to a fresher topping such as a corn salsa. Regardless, the batter on the fried green tomatoes was delicious - I have high confidence that any of their battered dishes would be equally satisfying! I opted to order the bruschetta flatbread as my entree. It was loaded with toppings - tomatoes, spinach, goat cheese, grilled chicken, and more of that tasty balsamic reduction. It's typically served as a starter, so this is another dish that's great for sharing. My sister ordered the homemade southwestern chicken soup. This is definitely a southern-style soup - think cream-based... almost dip/queso-like. It was also served with tortilla chips as a garnish. She also ordered a side of the rice pilaf which was a generous serving size for a side - we thought it would be a small bowl size, but it was a whole plateful. However, it was way too salty. One of their signatures is their Gyro Pita Sandwich, which comes with a side of fries. We were able to swap the plain French fries for their sweet potato fries, which are always a hit. The menu describes this dish as the real deal and hey- no complaints! The gyro was tender and flavorful and comes with tzatziki. This is a solid dish. Service was friendly but not super present. We would have to flag our waitress down for drink refills and weren't really checked on once the food came out. It's a pretty casual but also busy place, so I'm not expecting to be waited on hand and foot, but they could bump up the attentiveness a hair. Food and ambiance were good overall... nothing amazing, but it's a safe bet. Stone Ridge Tavern has a good variety of dishes offered on the menu. I recommend this place for large groups - there's something for everyone - and I was pleased with portion sizes. read more

I have enjoyed my visits to Stone Ridge Tavern in the past. But this visit, I was seated in the bar area instead of the dining room part. The bar area has a section of booths and that is where I was seated. I would have declined high top seating but didn't realize in time how loud this section would be from other patrons and the kitchen. I'm not sure why I was seated in this section as the restaurant wasn't very busy and I got great parking. I will not sit there again though as it was not the pleasant or relaxing night out I was looking for. I like the quieter experience to enjoy my dinner and that is what I have had in the past. My waitress was friendly although I had to ask for a refill on my tea. The food was still very good. I think I have ordered the same food each visit with just changing up the baked potato for a sweet potato. I do love a good filet mignon and they do that well here. I still haven't managed to have room for dessert yet. read more

What a great place! Ambiance was unique with the ski lodge look, food was in abundance and quickly served, and our server, Kayla, went above and beyond! Just moved to Asheville, and I went to a Meet Up event at this tavern. Very lively place. The parking lot was full! A good sign. I asked the waiter what the best thing was on the menu and he said the Gyros plate. It was just OK. If I go back, I will definitely try something else. I was raised in Chicago so I know a real Gyros. We needed a place that was fast but filling before going to Winter Lights at NC Arboretum. This place is close to the arboretum, so that was a plus. Seated in a booth but they are connected strangely so if people on the booth on the other side moved, you could feel it. Our waitress was amazing and attentive. I had steak salad, husband and daughter, the super burger, and my son, the gyro sandwich. The gyro sandwich looked a little measly, but the rest of the food was great and well liked. I would have liked a bit more greens with my salad, but overall it was really good, and I love a good steak salad! It was not 4 star dining but solid food for a good price and efficient service. Clearly this place is a tourist destination and one-and-done for me. As soon as you walk in, the smell of grease immediately hit us and that's all we could smell the whole visit. The food and decor was mediocre, with most of their food options being fried food, seafood, burgers, or insanely priced steaks (i got the greek salad because i didn't want anything fried, but that was almost the entire menu selection, there was nothing special about it). The waitress seemed to barely pay us any mind and wasn't around much, don't even know her name because she didn't introduce herself and only asked for our order. I don't recommend. BUT we didn't get waited on for almost 10 minutes and the waitress we had walked by us several times. She apologized and said that she was told that she would not have anymore tables for the night. We ordered our drinks and The Spinach artichoke dip for an appetizer. It was really good and the tortilla chips were really flavorful. We were ordering entrees, I was wanting vegetable lasagna. They don't serve it anymore but it is still listed on their menu. So I just got the meat lasagna. Big mistake! The meat was really just a hamburger that had been cut up into the lasagna. It wasn't even really good and tasted like it was old. Seasoning was just way off for it to be considered lasagna and it came with the tinest piece of garlic bread ever. The tossed side salad was pretty good though and my boyfriend enjoyed his steak and baked potato. Seeing how it was our first time eating there, if we were to go back, I would definitely try a real hamburger and not a pasta option. The restaurant is really nice and big on the inside. Ribs had a very mild-sweet barbecue sauce to them, meat falling off the bones. Very good; Gyro platter (lamb) also highly recommended. Only "issue" I had was the chunks of tomatoes given in the salads - which I was informed was intentional, kind of the SRT Signature ... wife wasn't a fan and didn't eat hers, I just ... cut mine again myself and carried on as usual. Folks from NC (Greensboro & Winston Salem), TX, WI, and FL appreciate you! From my very first correspondence with the managers Josh and Angela, I felt heard and valued which was so important since I am not local. They understood what we were looking for and delivered. They allowed us to set the menu for our guests without question. (Their menu is huge!) They set up two tables of 10 in the back room of the restaurant and had the tables set when we arrived. Jess, our server, introduced herself immediately and offered her assistance as I set out a few decorations. She did a great job communicating with everyone and keeping up with the orders. The food came out quickly and correctly. Drinks were refilled in a timely manner and alcoholic drinks delivered with a smile. If Jess was stressed out, she NEVER showed it. Awesome job, Jess! THE FOOD....OMG! The portions were huge and completely shareable! Many took home leftovers! Several people got the NY Strip and said it was cooked perfectly! While heading to the Smoky Mountains, we stopped here for a quick bite to eat. It was quite busy! It had been raining outside, and even with a jacket I was freezing inside. The restaurant was pretty big. I love all the lighting fixtures. There was even one that reminded me of vampire stakes. LOL. My husband and I both ordered the Gyro (lamb) platter with the salad. The food taste good, but the meat was placed on the pita and was very greasy, and that transferred onto the pita which was a bit gross. We had to dab the meat with some napkins to get that off. There was also so much food on the plate it was difficult to try and eat over it. I wanted to ask for another plate, but our waitress didn't come back within a reasonable time to get one. We came upon the Stone Ridge Tavern by accident while shopping. It was a Wednesday and it was packed! Still, we were seated right away and tended to by a very friendly server. The restaurant is large, clean, and the seating is comfortable. We ordered a Black and Bleu burger and a mushroom and Swiss burger. I had sweet potato fries and my wife had regular fries. We were given fresh rolls and butter while we waited. The rolls were FANTASTIC! It took about 15 minutes for our food to arrive. Since it was busy, we didn't mind the wait. The burgers were big and TASTY! I had a cup of coffee and my wife had water. The bill was $35. Considering the size of the burger and fries, we ended up taking half home. So we got four huge meals for $35. That's a bargain. Service was prompt and friendly throughout. We highly recommend the Stone Ridge Tavern and would happily go back again when we are in town. read more

The spinach artichoke dip was great, the cheddar bacon burger and tiger wings were good, but the fries tasted like they were pulled from a freezer and lacked flavor. Stone Ridge Taven is unique to Asheville; I've never seen another one, so it's worth stopping for a meal if you're in the neighborhood. The food is a good cross-section of classic American cuisine, but it's a little upscale without feeling too fancy or snooty. I have a few personal recommendations. The Greco, or Greek, chicken is amazing; the blend of goat cheese, tomato, and balsamic will make your taste buds sigh with happiness. It's tangy, there's a little pop of sweetness, there's some earthiness from the spinach...the mixture truly "peps up" the average chicken breast. (Be judicious though; if you don't think you're going to finish, save those toppings or ask for some extra, because that chicken will dry out at home). I also enjoy the fried oysters. They're fresh with no fishy aftertaste, and the breading is unusually rich (you *will* end up taking some home). I usually order mine with a salad and sweet potato fries. Pro tip: Ask for honey mustard with those fries. The combination is *chef's kiss.* Like most meals here, that one's slightly pricey, which means Stone Ridge is a "treat" kind of place for me and my family. But if you want to splurge and you like seafood, go for it. The servers are generally courteous and as quick as possible with seating. In my experience though, they like to seat my family in the back, near the door or near "party tables," for some reason. (???) I mean, it's worth it for the food...besides the two entrees I mentioned, they've got some other great choices, and the bread and salad alone are worth the price. But Stone Ridge does lose points on atmosphere. Also, it can be a bit drafty, so bring a wrap or jacket if you get cold. Otherwise though, a solid four stars, and a meal I always look forward to having. read more

Came here yesterday afternoon about 2:30 and was sort of surprised to see soooo many tables with dirty plates ( not bused). The hostess walked us all over the restaurant and found us a table that was also dirty but she apologized and wiped it clean. We almost walked out. The waitress showed up after a few minutes with a smile , took our order and we ended up with a very nice meal. Such a cool place with cabinesque decor but the mess about the restaurant yesterday was kind of a turn off. Not sure if this was a covid short staff issue or what but the management should take a look at scheduling issues and cleanup scheduling. Would've given this place a 4 but the mess brought it down- sorry. read more
