This restaurant had been on my wishlist since we did not have time to visit last time we were in the area. Despite staying downtown, we prefer to patronize less touristy places and this was a great choice! Just a few miles away, this cozy busy restaurant earns its ongoing popularity. Wednesday offers $5 off a glass of wine which was a pleasant surprise. We were fortunate to find a last minute reservation and happily sat at the bar. California pinot noir and sauvignon blanc were very good and we appreciated the different vineyard selection. We decided to split our meal: Bang bang shrimp, different presentation with a spicy aioli smear on the plate which was a nice complement to the fried shrimp Roasted broccolini was tasty and not overcooked . Again, aoli requested on the side. Maybe it is a regional preference for aoli on so many items? House made potato and French fries were both very yummy Brussel sprouts were delicious, nice garlic chili type of glaze. Highly recommend this gem tucked away in a strip mall in Asheville. Friendly staff welcome you to this informal but amazing restaurant. Food quality is what you would expect at a 5 star restaurant, service is attentive and friendly and the cocktails are expertly executed. We had a lovely dinner here and our server was a great guide as we navigated the menu. We got a range of small plates and they were all excellent. Gnocchi, beets, salmon, steak were all amazing. We visited this restaurant at the recommendation of a friend who lives in the Asheville area, as we do not. I was surprised at how small the restaurant is, which explains the need for reservations. With such creative and delicious fare, I'm sure they stay so busy! We dined on the patio where the weather was perfect and our server was excellent. We started with small plates of scallops and beef cheeks. The scallops were sweet and succulent and seared to perfection. The red grits were creamy and excellent, and I even ate the beets! I am not normally a beet-eater. The beef cheeks were incredibly melt-in-your-mouth tender. It was gently seasoned, and served over creamy polenta. The trout was seared perfectly, and covered with purple kale. The kale was a bit salty, but I believe that was intentional to accent the fish. Our friend said his burger was juicy and delicious. He said the special sauce and bacon were excellent. My husband had the crab cakes which were more Maryland style and were meaty and luscious. Don't wait four years like we did to check out Copper Crown! Their drink menu is impressive and reasonably-priced for Asheville. We all started with cocktails - some from the drink menu and other specific requests. The menu offered something for everyone including gluten and dairy-free options. The seafood was fresh and pork schnitzel generous and perfectly prepared. They don't have a huge dining room but the raised patio seating also looks appealing for a future visit. A favorite of my family. Great service and awesome menu. They serve the BEST Brussel sprouts in Asheville. The buffalo green tomatoes, scallops, beef cheeks and arugula salad are on our regular rotation. My husband inhales the blackkened catfish and we both are fans of the Lo-Fi burger. This place is absolutely phenomenal! We didn't have reservations but we showed up as they were opening and were able to get a table on the patio. The staff was the best in the world, so nice, gave wonderful recommendations. My boyfriend and I split a handful of small plates and a dessert and all of it was incredible. We came early and first up was the Brussels sprouts. After all the wonderful things said, we HAD to try the Brussels sprouts! Hubster was decidedly not enthusiastic about the thought, but, good for him, they arrived and he tried them. The reason they are so good is they are "candied". They're made with a sugar-based syrup. They are so good, not only did my Brussels sprouts avoidant husband eat more than half the dish, he also did not bat an eye at the sprinkles of feta cheese (another of his less-than-favorite foods)! Next we tried the Bison and the scallops. Bison was smoky and delicious. The scallops were perfectly seared. We picked our plates clean! For dessert we got the chocolate pot du creme and the flan. The chocolate was dense and creamy, almost like a ganache and the flan was a little disappointing. When we come back, definitely more chocolate for me and we will try something different. Copper Crown was our favorite and best dinner in Asheville! It's a little away from the main downtown area, but it's a super quick drive! It's so worth it too! My dad and I both got the flank iron steaks, while my husband and my mom shared the pan seared scallops and the blackened catfish. Everything was SO delicious and well made & paired! The sauces on the steak and potatoes were unreal! Plus, we got a very good red wine from the Côtes du Rhône that everyone enjoyed thoroughly. The portion sizes were decent too. Whoa. This place is truly a hidden gem. Very unassuming from the outside but once inside you're transported to a lovely atmosphere with warm lighting. Dinner was fantastic. We shared 4 small plates and a salad between 2 people. Which, honestly, was a bit too much for our appetites. The food is amazing! Burger was on point. Crab cakes are all crab-no filler. Scallops were seared to perfection and melted in your mouth. The tomatoes were delicious as well. Chelsea, our server, was tremendous. We were staying at a hotel on the east side of Asheville after a long day of driving (road trip) so didn't want to drive back into the city. Found this place on Yelp. And BOY did it deliver!! My goodness it was just what we were looking for/needed. Quite the little gem in the rock! We shared appetizers for dinner & got the Brussels sprouts, gnocchi, and beef cheek alongside strawberry shortcake and I believe it was called pot de crème for dessert. Great portion sizes & the flavors were so unique and tasty-- we LOVED every dish. I'm a sucker for an actually chocolately chocolate dessert so the pot de crème was fantastic! Finally, someone who appreciates rich chocolate desserts-- none of this "whiff" of chocolate stuff. My counterpart loved the strawberry shortcake. We paired all of this nicely with wine of which they had a good selection. Our waiter was attentive and friendly. Free parking. We came back after our neighbor's insisted Copper Crown was their new "go to" place in East Asheville. Previous experience left me a bit skeptical, but we decided to see what had changed. So glad we listened to our neighbors, totally different in a great way!! Service was spot on; French Broad draft was excellent, and the Schnitzel was the best I have had in a very long time. Sorry German favorites, this version has you beat hands down. The side of collards was different, but in a very good way - did not miss the traditional red cabbage at all. Tried the Copper Crown during Asheville Restaurant Week and we were blown away. We recently dined at a James Beard Award winning restaurant in Savannah and paid close to twice as much for a dinner that was not nearly as good as this one. We ordered off of the 3 course prix fixe special menu. For appetizers we had crispy Brussel sprouts (hands down the best we've had in Asheville) and chicken spring rolls. Both were very good, but I could make an entire meal of nothing but their Brussel sprouts -- they are that good! The entrees were also fantastic: beef cheek on gnocchi (think the best pot roast you've ever had served over tasty pasta) and Faroe Island (North Atlantic) sesame-encrusted salmon on cream cheese grits. The grits were a little unusual, but they worked with the salmon. The salmon was fantastic. Some places remove the skin, but in this case, the pan-seared skin with the sesame seeds was equally as tasty as the salmon flesh itself. For dessert, it was olive cake and a chocolate mouse torte. Both were very good. We've never had olive cake before. It was very delicate and not too sweet, with a hint of vanilla and a few pears on top. The torte was very rich, almost like a creamy fudge done as a torte, with an orange syrup. Portions were perfect. We almost never get 2 appetizers with entrees and rarely ever order even one dessert. We left very full and very happy. The prix fixe special menu was wonderful, but their regular menu looked great, too. We'll definitely be back. One of the best little restaurants in Asheville. I really didn't want to leave a bad review, but the meal was so disappointing. The fries were old and a quarter of the size of a normal fry. They were fried 2-3 times over and full of grease. My burger (the Lofi): the tomato was old and mealy, the buns seemed to be bought from a grocery store, and the meat was dry. I had high hopes. I hope others have a better meal. Everything we tried was very well prepared with a gourmet and southern touch, service was outstanding and the restaurant itself is small, but comfortable. They have indoor and outdoor seating, plus a good size bar that also offers food service. They have full bar service plus craft cocktails and a good selection of wines and beers. These are the dishes we tried: buffalo green fried tomatoes, crawfish risotto and arugula salad with blackened tofu, and they were all delicious. Wanted some easy take-out food after a rough day and not wanting to cook. Did take-out of several small plates, the scallops, the bang-bang shrimp, asparagus and gnocchi. $75 later, which included a "take-out fee" . . . what is that, never, ever had that before . . . the food was not slightly edible. Scallops, took one bite and knew they were bad, threw them out. Asparagus, completely soaked in some sauce, whilted and mushy, threw it out. Shrimp was just ok but the dipping sauce was good, kudos for that. Gnocchi was dime size pieces with an overkill of sauce, maybe to mask how unappealing it all was? In general, everything was good and worth ordering again. Service, however, was lacking. Even though we had a reservation we had to wait for the table, although not long at all. The server came by before we were ready to order and did not return for quite a while. We sat for an hour before receiving any food. I was considering putting in a Door Dash order delivered to the restaurant just so we could have something to eat. The wait was truly excessive. We were a bit confused about how such a tasty menu could be in the same strip mall as a chiropractors office but we were willing to try. "Stop wasting time and just order the gnocchi" - my dates recommendations for yall. Truly divine. The burger was good but "not as good as five guys." We approve of sweet potato fries and the cheesecake! The fall tequila drink too. Chefs kiss. Extra parking garage under building! It's not very notable and doesn't set itself apart from any others. Prices are slightly high across the board which would be okay if quality matched. Our gnocchi order had a missing ingredient which the kitchen apologized for and added to a freshly made dish. It's very disappointing that they forgot how to make their own food. Hmmm. Lovely service people. A warm neighborhood vibe. Has covered outdoor seating. A welcoming bar. It is the sort of place you would meet up for a dinner with your grandparents in Santa Barbara. You are gonna talk about how your life is going and you know they are gonna get drunk enough where you worry about them driving home. I had the often recommended burger. Specifically the lo-fi version without cheese. Had HNG beef, a nice soft bun and very fresh veg but was over cooked and sorta bland. It probably needed an more interesting beef blend and more fat. It was solid but not great. I suspect the cheese carries the burger typically (which is a common theme in the AVL burger scene). When I added more Mayo it got better. I may be alone in this but not a fan of "french fry seasoning" and it was disappointing to see in on my fries. I don't like the flavor and it felt low rent for this sort of spot. I also tried a fried shrimp small plate served on a mayo-base slaw. It was cooked well but the shrimp were fishy tasting and kinda ho-hum in concept. This place definitely has its audience. It probably isn't me but I am glad they are doing there thing and all the people who filled the place seemed to be having a good time. There is a big menu there with many things to try I would be surprised if you found something you would like if you try it. read more

The double-patty Lo-Fi burger, a smash burger with a little bit of lettuce and other dressings, is just $12.50 with a big bowl of fresh-cut fries. Other good choices: the Buffalo Green Tomatoes, a hefty serving of fried green tomatoes with Buffalo hot sauce and blue cheese ($9.50) and the small plate of seared scallops ($16). The $9 vodka martini was ice cold and well made. Local draft beers are $7 for pints. Service is prompt and friendly, and the covered patio, which is on the smaller side, is comfortable. read more
