We love Stonefire Grill. The people who work there are so friendly and attentive. We particularly would like to mention James, who was shift leader the last time we visited on the night of 4/13/2019. He's very nice and very attentive. It's people like James who keep us coming back to SFG (as well as the delicious food). We should have done a review a long time ago on SFG because we've been regulars since it opened and I'd be remiss if didn't also put in a good word for Trevor the manager there (Torrance) since it opened. He's really nice and very professional. Sadly for us, Trevor left to open a new SFG in Laguna Niguel. We miss him. I wish the system could be more effective bc since many don't leave tips, it seems its hard to get good service. was excited to try this place and really wanted to like it but the food and service was a bit lacking. our party of 7 arrived early on Easter Sunday, so there was plenty of seating available. the restaurant is spacious, open, and clean. the employees greeting you and taking your order were very nice and friendly. between the 7 of us we ordered quite a bit of food just to try a variety. we tried: - bread sticks w/ marinara - meatballs - ribs - tri tip - mac n cheese - big roasted cauliflower - steak sandwich i forget what my wife had but she said the menu made it sound like it was a salad and the entree was offered in the salad section but it clearly was a "bowl" w/ no greens or quinoa. i personally had the ribs and although plentiful, the temperature was just lukewarm and not hot. the temperature of all the food was all over the place. the meatballs were way dry and overcooked, (and lukewarm), the tri tip lacked flavor and was kinda tough, the cauliflower although tasty was not served hot. plus we had to ask for the marinara sauce several times before they brought it and when they did, our bread sticks were now cold. also, asked for more BBQ sauce for the ribs, which took so long i had nearly finished my rack before i got it. we will probably give this place another shot but our first experience missed the mark in a few areas. read more

I had previously written a review where I had a negative experience with obtaining a takeout container but after I posted it, the management quickly wrote a response and when I called the restaurant since the person who wrote the response was at headquarters, talked with the manager of this location instead. He quickly remedied the issue. As I had previously written the food is good, reasonably priced and service is friendly (though be aware it is minimal, they bring you the food, but you need to get everything including your plates, yourself) but if you have a negative experience, don't write a bad review, the company is very responsive and will do what it takes to resolve your complaints. read more

The food is delicious. Good quality, good prices and more than generous portions. Everything we had was tasty, ending the meal with an amazing carrot cake!!! One problem... We ordered and sat for a while, noticing that others who came later were getting their food. 25 minutes later, Rose came to our table and told us she noticed that we were waiting too long. She looked into it and apparently, our order got stuck in their system. 35 minutes later, we're eating. Rose saved the night! The manager, Trevor, came out and apologized....then came back with a dessert on the house. The 35 minutes wait for the food was erased! What he did was appropriate and generous and an example of excellent customer service. It wasn't about the "free" dessert, it was the fact that he recognized their error. I usually don't like to be negative, but the experience at Stonefire was disappointing at best. We were a party of eight, sitting outside. At least ten times servers came to our table with other people's food, wanting to know if it was ours. Is putting a number on the table too difficult? They were disruptive to our conversation, and obviously clueless to who they were serving. On the plus side, the food, once we actually got 'our' order, was very good. I had one of the worst meals ever last week. I ordered the rigatoni with meat sauce which usually comes drenched in oil so I requested less oil. I was hungry so even though it didn't look very appetizing. Bone dry with less than a tablespoon of meat sauce I ate it anyway. The rigatoni was completely dry tasting and there wasn't much of it. Later that evening I was nauseas and spitting up something like bile. The next day my stool was bloody and I spent the next two days in the ER. This is not the end as I have been put on an urgent list for colonoscopy and endoscopy. I have eaten there many times and never had such a horrible experience. I can only hope it doesn't happen to anyone else. read more

Stonefire Grill is chain restaurant quality food. Their whole concept seems weird to me, you order up front, go find your seat in a big dining area, they bring your food out to you, you go get your own utensils and drinks. I got the tri tip, it had zero flavor and I had to add salt to the steak. My husband thought his food was super bland too. Their carrot cake is great though. read more

First time visit was a success! Service was great right from the start, the menu and order process was thoroughly explained and our meal was amazing. We ordered the chilaquiles verdes with tri-tip to share as an appetizer, very tasty full of flavor and the tri-tip was tender. I ordered the lemon garlic salmon... wow! It came with a side of Cesar salad , which was good but I would've preferred a side of rice to balance out the flavor , but that's just me I guess. Wanted to try everything on the menu but decided on the salmon and ribs. Also had the whole roasted cauliflower, garlic mashed potatoes, nutty coleslaw and Greek salad. Food was good, the ribs were ok, I was hoping they'd be falling off the bones but seemed a little tough. Wasn't crazy about ordering at a counter from a large menu, getting your own drink and finding a table. We decided to find a table and sat down and read the menu then ordered. We brought enough food home to last through the weekend. When leaving there was a line out the door all trying to look at the menu and decide before getting to the counter. I'd go back if someone really wanted to go there, but not anytime soon. read more

My dining companion and I decided to try this restaurant today for lunch. It's located where Macaroni Grill used to be so we were looking forward to having another dining option close to home. I would recommend that first-timers read the reviews and the online menu prior to arriving, which is how I found out this was a fast-casual restaurant, albeit a more upscale-looking one. Doing so will hasten the ordering process and keep the line moving. But on to the food, service, etc.... My companion ordered the Mediterranean chicken bowl which was greatly enjoyed and I had the Stonefire's favorite pizza which was even better than expected. Our food arrived timely and our server was very attentive and sweet. We also shared a piece of carrot cake which was very fresh and tasty. Crowd pleaser meals are a great deal. Easily feeds 6 people. Add 2 large sides and you got 8 full people. Tri tip is super tender, though the taste is a little bland and the cook is a little inconsistent between medium and well. The chicken is decent. Yesterday I invited 3 friends for a dinner. The choice was between the Stonefire grill and the Joey's, another bbq place few doors down the street. I had a $10 Off coupon for the Stonefire grill and this what brought me (us) there. Patrons must choose from the menu and pay for the meal before sitting. This is when I was told that my coupon won't be taken as it had expired last month. Even when I asked to check with the manager, they brought me the same answer. So, my mood was spoiled even before I got to eat/drink there and I knew from the start that neither myself, nor my girlfriend, nor my friends will come to this place again- no matter how many coupons they will print and mail to us. Good marketing, Stonefire grill! The atmosphere inside was OK, low key, but I wouldn't complain about that. When the same building was occupied by the Roman's Macaroni Italian Grill, it felt more upscale, comfortable and cozy. Now- meh! Food. We ordered some combos, which included tri-tip, pizzas, salads, breadsticks... My Caesar salad was horrible. I moved it aside after a few bites: no sign of anchovies in any shape and form, garlic... Very blah, forgettable and waste of money. Breadsticks were very good, warm and soft, with generous amount of cheese- cannot complain here. I am not a pizza person, but I've had good pizzas and can objectively tell that the Stonefire grill isn't the place to go for pizzas. My friend offered a bowl of Brussels sprouts (???), which she barely tried and gave it to us to take home. We ate it this evening, and I liked it. I never had shredded Brussels sprouts salad before, it's certainly an acquired taste, but I liked it- will make at home! The tri tip was very good- perfectly cooked, soft and juicy. However, my friends (who are from Texas, btw) said that the Joey's (next door bbq joint) makes better bbq and better priced. I thought I would try it last night, with a friend. Amazing! So good that I had to come back here tonight again!!! They have so many people working here, it's crazy! The staff is so friendly and accommodating. Rick, the manager I think?, is wonderful. Great food but the excellence and accommodating service from all of the staff is what sells this place. They are still working to get up to speed on processing the new orders and locate the customers for whom to bring their food to but that is just a growing pain which they will master in the weeks ahead. Awe man this place is good! We get take out from here at least once a week. Their rib are great, salads are good, pizza's are decent. Service is always great, and a shout out to the dedicated To-go folks, as they are great at online and to-go orders. I was not happy ribs where thin mostly bone, the garlic bread deep fried greasy not healthy at allmash potatoes with yellow American cheese ugh.... salmon on sesame dressing was wrenching on the sauce that did not give the salmon a good flavor, cartwheel salad was greasy and no beets. I travel on business quite a bit and have become fatigued eating at National Chain restaurants. While in town tending to my father in the hospital, my brother and I found Stonefire Grill in Torrance, very near the hospital. It was comfort food at its very best. We began making almost a daily run to feed the family that were there. Our favorites were the BBQ Salad and OMG... the Carrot Cake is the best we've had ANYWHERE. service was excellent as well. Came here for quick lunch with my coworker 3/26 I don't really post reviews but I felt offended eating here, not sure because we ordered the lunch special or whatever. Ordering: Ordering was easy, the guy who took my order does not know how to up sell. That's an opportunity there. Food: The food was good. Brownie was delicious. Service: The service was horrible. There were 3 managers walking around, asked every table but ours. Which I find rude. I don't know if it's due to what we ordered, again we literally just wanted quick lunch but not fast food. They brought our food fast but a lot of missing items. My coworker ordered her salad and dressing on the side, they forgot it, we had to ask for it. The lady said they will bring our breadsticks since they were out, it was never brought in until we ask. The server asked for receipt ( again like where am I gonna hide the breadsticks baskets) showed her the receipt. She said she's gonna ask her manager. I said it's fine nevermind, we weren't really asking for breadsticks, we didn't even realized it was included until the first server said she will bring them out. (We have seen them bring to other customers after she said they were out) She brought the 2 breadsticks and she said they're out again, at that point I really don't care if they bring it since we are pretty much done with our meal. Overall: We might go back since it's close to our office, maybe take our clients there for lunch, but not anytime soon. And the service was great, and all the workers were super friendly. My only complaint would be there was an unfriendly manager. I think I caught her name was Emily? I noticed she was really unprofessional, not friendly, and rude even though the servers were nice. It didn't seem fair how she was treating her workers during the busy dinner time.
