Since 1972 - 49 years I come to The Stoneleigh P for the VERY BEST Hamburger & Spanish Salad in the United States of America .

Several so-so lunches at Stoneleigh P since it moved to Lemmon ... getting to it S-Bound on Lemmon requires going down a quarter-mile, a U-turn. Both us were occasional visitors on Maple .. this week was a total disaster. The fajita plate ... the only heat the meat got was from a microwave, and not much of that. I recognized the thin strips of beef; you buy 'em by the bag at any grocery. Cold. And tasteless. Rice on the plate: from another frozen box. Beans, warmed, but from a box. Chicken on the sandwich: same deal. Gumbo ... liquid in the pot is boiled off as it sits, that's planned for, if you order before about 12:15p it's far too watery. Came here on a Friday evening and we sat outside. We started off with margaritas, they don't use any plastic straws which I loved! The margaritas tasted delicious. For food I got the chicken nachos and my friend got the burger. I love love love that each chip is an individual nacho, this is one of the only places in Dallas I've seen this. The ratio of chip, chicken, cheese is perfect on each chip and with sour cream and guacamole tastes excellent. My friend really enjoyed his burger as well (you can get with fries or chips) and they now have ketchup which they didn't have a few years ago. This place is very different than the other uptown restaurants nearby but it's a chill, comfy restaurant with good food, drinks, atmosphere and service. read more

My husband and I came into town to enjoy a nice wedding. We decided to go have lunch at this location and the service was less than good. We got our food and it was okay, but the buns weren't even buttered or warmed up so it was like a stale loaf of bread in your mouth. Very dry. But the patty and chips were good. So we gave it a second chance later that evening for drinks. It was even worse. This woman in a black tank top was the most rude waitress I've ever met. We asked how much a drink was and she said "I don't f*ucking know* I mean I get it's a bar and all but have some class and respect for your work environment and business. So we decided to play a round of pool with some other customers there and again the lady in the black tank top ran up into my husbands face and yelled at him because of his mask. Like really? She honestly should not work for anyone with that kind of actions. NOTE: Don't go at night if you don't plan on getting food. One of the best bars in the city. Great atmosphere and incredible food (everything is made in-house). Perfect spot to grab lunch/dinner/drinks, play pool, listen to the music guests get to cue up, or just hang. The people there are amazing. The servers are all the best and the bartenders are incredible. It feels like walking to a friend's house every time I come. The history here is also cool and it's worth asking Tom (the owner) or Mo (bartender there since the 80s) to tell you some stories. They have the best beef and black bean nachos I have ever enjoyed so much! Love their outdoor seating area and pet friendly they even provide water bowls for you furry friend. Very shady, clean and relaxing place for lunch or early dinner. Great menu large portions and reasonably priced! This is a must every time I visit here. Staff is always friendly and accommodating. Disappointed from a bartender who told me over & over again that speaking up for myself publicly, finally, wasn't "right". & also dissapointed by Laura who never apologized for my experience. Did not plan on being there but had no choice that night actually , Unless I just wanted to sit on the curb and twiddle thumbs until I was able to go home. So it just was what it was, but it was nice to have a beer with my mom late night either way . Wasn't quite expecting this interaction tonight as I really had nothing to be ashamed of For my previous review . So With that said and considering, I just Got off from Bartending with four hours of sleep, I got a little upset and yes The f bomb came out of my mouth a few times . What a surprising dive - a dive bar in Uptown? I'm originally from Dallas, but now live in Nashville, and I met some Austin girlfriends for a girls' trip to Dallas - and our airbnb was just up the street from Stoneleigh P. It was our last stop of the night as we could walk home after! It's definitely a dive. We had a few cheap beers (I drank Lone Star - it's weird the things you miss when you leave home) and simple well cocktails. Nothing fancy. The place itself has a divey charm. The service and bathrooms left something to be desired, but it was a fun place to spend the last hour of our night out in Dallas. Definitely something I wasn't expecting! read more

I have been coming here for over 30 years. I have to admit haven't been in about 8 years. Decided to meet a friend to eat and watch football. The place was very slow. They had a steak special and shrimp basket special. I ask our waitress if the steak could be cooked MR. She said of course. Ok I'll try it. Itcame out more then we'll done, was terrible. My friends shrimp was bad too. We didn't see waitress for the next 30 minutes. So food was really bad service was bad. The bar had maybe 12people in it. Came here with my fiancée, 11/13/21... took 15 minutes to be served the first drink at the bar when got there. 2 shots and a mixed drink(which we tipped 100% of the tab). Cool dive-y bar, pleasant service, nice space, cheap beers! My first time in Texas and it was cool seeing the guy behind the bar in a cowboy hat! The bar itself has a pool table and lots of character- deep dark wood, large space, historical decorations, cool red lighting by the restrooms, nice booths, lots of tables, and a large bar. Wake up Dallas! Why is this restaurant empty on a Thursday night? The food was exceptional. My halibut was perfectly cooked and flavors were well paired. I can truly only vouch for the Godiva pie. It was terrible. I brought some home and threw the whole thing out. I really don't get it, it seemed like some kind of cream cheese (but bad or less flavorful cream cheese maybe?) with chocolate shavings on top. The crust was just awful. This is a cool place to visit if you're in the area. We walked here as our hotel was across the street. Probably wouldn't have come otherwise. The food is alright. Do not expect gourmet, fancy food. Our party got enchiladas, tacos and nachos! All were ok! I am a huge Mexican food fan so I was not expecting what we got, but it was alright! It was like eating at my mom's house when she's making Mexican food. Anyways, the atmosphere is cool. There is a cool vibe, and cool people that seemed to come here. Great neighborhood bar!! It's a great place to go if you don't want the Wild typical weekend uptown crowd. Feels like you can fly under the radar. Very strong pours, and their long islands are AMAZING!! Not a huge fan of the queso and feel like food is average bar food. Huge plus I love their decor. Very historic and the woodwork is gorgeous. Waittresses are friendly and good. Pool table, plenty of room to mingle, and - gasp - a magazine rack! Hah, YES - I said a magazine rack - full of well-thumbed but interesting periodicals! Drink while you discuss your next vacation with 'Travel&Leisure' or plan a home remodel project with different magazines! Strong basic drinks; you shouldn't expect exotic mixology in a dive bar - so don't get crazy. (No, they can't make a mojito.) When moving to Dallas, I wanted to find my spot. I found that spot with the P! The staff is great, the food and drinks are always good, prices are great for uptown Dallas. Plus, it's a great spot to hit up in any weather and any occasions. Whether you just had dinner at Nick & Sam's, finished a run on the Katy Trail, in town for some business and staying at one of the nearby hotels, or going to/leaving an event at the AAC, the P is the perfect place! From beginning to end, this is not the place for me. No straws available for mixed drinks because you're going green? Maybe get some biodegradable straws then. People like to stir drinks and many prefer to sip from straws. That was just weird to me. The burger I ordered was served on a poppy seed bun, which was never mentioned. I don't like poppy seeds and peeled the bun off to eat the semi-dry burger patty. The spinach salad that I had as my side was a 5 star though. The dressing was light and the salad was fresh. I couldn't tell what kind of crowd normally occupies this place because it was almost empty on a Saturday night. I can tell you that for $40 for 2 drinks, a bland burger and a server who was super busy on her phone at the bar, it is not a restaurant I would go to again. Caveat emptor read more

The last bar in the chain of my NYE bar hopping night lol. We decided to come here after HG Spply started kicking us out after midnight. Never been here before and didn't know what to expect besides the fact that they stayed open until 2am that night, plus we stayed in the hotel not too far from here, so that works out. We got lucky with the parking, got the very first spot in their parking lot. No entrance fee on NYE, and it was pretty popping inside when we arrived. Our friends who arrived before us were able to grab the only pool table in the house (not sure if they had any other pool table on the other side of the room or not, I was too occupied to pay attention lol). I proceeded to hit the bar and grab myself a drink. Forgot to keep my ID on me the first time, came back a second time with it, and the bartender took a damn long look at my ID, but not the side with the BD on it, until he finally decided to give me my ID back and tell me he wanted to make sure it's my picture on the ID since I'm "the most good looking girl" he has met doing what I do. It was dark, he was probably tipsy working on NYE, but that did get me a free drink and another extra large drink later on, so I was a happy camper and completely satisfied with this place lol. One of the guys in our group got a little drunk and started acting out of character, but the bouncer was nice enough to not kick him out, just continue keeping an eye on him. Just for those reasons listed, and overall a great time that we all had there (except for one of our friends that spent her whole time in the restroom throwing up), I will definitely come back to see what else they have to offer, more sober this time of course! read more

Best service I've ever had, and the history makes it better. This one girl Laura was immaculate, gave me the conversation that every man needs after a long day of work. Looked like the fellow bar fly's were guests of the hotel and probably live splashy lives, so my friends and I entertained ourselves with stories starring the swanky characters around us. It's so cozy! A friend introduced me to this spot. And yes you simply cannot go wrong with the free available parking right in front of the bar especially in this part of Dallas where parking spots are few and far between. It's a bit divey but with a touch of classy. I hear they also have decent food!! We just came here for beverages. Plenty of tv screens to watch the games and also a "jukebox" of sorts where you can download an app (I think) and select what songs are playing. I always love being able to play the DJ!! Good spot if you are doing some hopping around town or just bring friends for a good time. I'd love to return to this hot spot whenever I'm cruising around in this part of town. Fun times! read more

The wifey and I celebrated our anniversary at the hotel across the street on Thanksgiving. We had already had a Thanksgiving lunch earlier in the day and we wanted a nibble for dinner. This is a great place when you live closely to it and need some good, inexpensive bar food and drinks. My biggest complaint is the outdoor patio furniture. The patio is huge, but all of the tables and chairs were made of iron and not very comfortable. They are especially cold unless you go when it's very warm outside. I love the places that have wicker furniture or at least furniture with big, soft cushions on them. That makes you want to sit for hours in them, drink, and relax. Ambiance is huge! There is no comfy way to sit for long in iron furniture. If the furniture was updated, I would go here a lot more because you can't beat the food and prices. The staff have always been nice too! This is a VERY casual place, but I've seen dressed up people too. I'm not sure where you park here because I've always walked to it and don't remember seeing a parking lot, so it may be street parking only. I definitely recommend calling first to ask! read more
